The Kinsey collection of gall wasps deposited in the American Museum of Natural History was studied. Some species of the genus Andricus were originally described based on cotypes: A. furnaceus, A. incomptum, A. marmoreus, A. peredurus, and A. tecturnarum. The type series of A. furnaceus and A. peredurus were previously studied and lectotypes were designated. Lectotypes are here designated for A. incomptum, A. marmoreus, and A. tecturnarum. Comments on the type series and photographs of the lectotypes and galls of these species are included. Also some generic synonymies and some other Andricus species are discussed.

According to the original description eight female cotypes and three clusters of galls are deposited in the AMNH, in the MCZ and in the author���s collection. In the AMNH we have found an adult and several galls and the adult is designated as lectotype and has been so labeled by the first author. This species remains as Andricus; pending a complete Andricus worldwide revision A. tecturnarum is considered a valid species. Cynips incomptum (Kinsey, 1920) (Fig. 3) Andricus incomptum Kinsey, 1920: 306 Cynips incomptum (Kinsey) Pujade-Villar and Ferrer-Suay (2015: 8). According to the original description two female and 28 gall cotypes were deposited in the MCZ and in the author���s collection, and only a cotype gall in the AMNH. However, the female (cotype) was found in the Kinsey collection deposited in the AMNH and it is designated as lectotype and has been so labeled by the first author. This species was originally described as Andricus and was transferred to Cynips by Pujade- Villar and Ferrer-Suay (2015) because the head has no irradiating carinae and the ventral spine of hypopygium is wide with parallel sides, with an apical tuft of setae. According to the original description of A. marmoreus, the cotypes (two females and 58 galls) were deposited in the MCZ and in the author���s collection. In the AMNH Kinsey collection there are no specimens labelled as A. marmoreus. One specimen was found in the MCZ collection (P. Perkins pers. comm). The material was studied based on the pictures taken of this specimen. It is designated as lectotype and has been so labeled by the first author.
