The article reports on the caudal autotomy in Heteromys sp. nov. and Neacomys tenuipes in the northern Cordillera Central of the Colombian Andes. It observes the movement of the two mammals while manipulating the rodents captured during fieldwork which shows that N. tenuipes shakes and moves its whole body away before autotomy while a striking strong gyratory movement of the body was observed in Heteromys sp. nov. It reveals that the absence of captured rodents with autotomy could be a consequence of differences in the frequencies of predators attack or the intraspecific aggression.

We describe an undocumented foraging strategy of the Willie Wagtail (Rhipidura leucophrys) interacting with grazing animals. This observation includes intentionally displacing a horse in order to depredate insects. Further observations of the feeding behavior and foraging tactics of wagtails are necessary to ascertain the frequency of this event in this species that has adjusted to living in cities and rural settings.
