Abstract

Presents information on a study in which the SN2 displacements of chloride ion from CH3CI, C2H5CI, and C2H4CI2 by acetate and hydroxide ions were investigated. Comparison of the central barriers of the reactions, differences of the overall reaction energies, and geometrics of the transition states; Description of the essential stereochemical changes before and after displacement reactions for selected cases; Calibration of the PM3 method.
