El objetivo de esta contribución es reflexionar acerca de aspectos epistemológicos y metodológicos de un estudio empírico que analiza el fenómeno del valor creciente de la comunicación en las organizaciones empresariales desde una perspectiva teórica de sistemas en la tradición de Niklas LUHMANN. A partir del término teórico de observación se muestra como se puede desarrollar una perspectiva de investigación que abra el horizonte para un análisis empírico de las prácticas de investigación. Primero, el análisis se centra en la reconstrucción de estas prácticas al entender cómo se estabilizan y, segundo, en el contraste de diferentes prácticas para desarrollar una comprensión de las diferentes formas de observación de los fenómenos relevantes y de sus funciones. En consecuencia, este enfoque combina la epistemología teórica de sistemas, estrategias analíticas de investigación, como el análisis funcional y de forma, y métodos cualitativos de investigación, tales como entrevistas narrativas, observación participante y análisis de documentos. Es wird gezeigt, wie ausgehend vom theoretischen Begriff der Beobachtung eine Forschungsperspektive entwickelt werden kann, die eine empirische Untersuchung von Kommunikationspraxen ermöglicht. Es geht in einem ersten Schritt darum zu verstehen, wie sich diese Praxen selbst stabilisieren. In einem zweiten Schritt wird durch den Modus des Vergleichs ein Verständnis unterschiedlicher Formen des empirischen Phänomens und ihrer Funktionen erarbeitet. URN: urn:nbn:de:0114-fqs1003177, The aim of this paper is to reflect the epistemological and methodological aspects of an empirical research study which analyzes the phenomenon of increased value communication within business organizations from a system theoretical perspective in the tradition of Niklas LUHMANN. Drawing on the theoretical term of observation it shows how a research perspective can be developed which opens up the scope for an empirical analysis of communication practices. This analysis focuses on the reconstruction of these practices by first understanding how these practices stabilize themselves and second by contrasting different practices to educe an understanding of different forms of observation of the relevant phenomenon and of the functions of these forms. Thus, this approach combines system theoretical epistemology, analytical research strategies, such as form and functional analysis, and qualitative research methods, such as narrative interviews, participant observation and document analysis.
