Background: As of September 2023, more than 1,000 cases of monkeypox (mpox) have been reported in China. Based on the available evidence, men who have sex with men (MSM) are at high risk for mpox infection. This study aimed to analyses the self-reported infection status, knowledge, attitude and influencing factors of monkeypox among MSM in Jiaxing City, China. Methods: A web-based cross-sectional survey was conducted in September 2023 to gather data on participants' socio-demographic profiles, mpox-related knowledge, sexual behavior characteristics, and other potentially related information to mpox knowledge. Multivariate regression modeling was employed to analyze the factors influencing the level of mpox-related knowledge. Results: A total of 562 MSM were recruited; 4.3% self-reported being HIV-positive, 83.3% of respondents had heard of mpox, and 2.3% of them reported having suspected symptoms. 89.7% of respondents were willing to be vaccinated against mpox, but only 24.8% had a high level of knowledge about mpox. The main factors influencing knowledge of mpox were education level, household registration, homosexual anal intercourse in the past 6 months, and taking the HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). Conclusions: Knowledge of mpox among MSM living in the Jiaxing area needs to be enhanced, but willingness to get vaccinated is high. Educational level, household location, sexual behavior and PrEP use have important effects on knowledge of mpox. Individuals exhibiting symptoms indicative of suspected mpox had a diminutive consultation frequency, and it is imperative to augment screening efforts for mpox symptoms within specific demographic groups to prevent the underreporting of mpox cases. Background: In May 2023, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released final guidance for blood donor eligibility that recommended the elimination of 3‐month deferral for men who have sex with men (MSM) and the related deferral for women who have sex with MSM. In its place, FDA introduced an individual risk assessment policy of asking all presenting blood donors, regardless of sex or gender, if they have had a new partner or more than one sexual partner in the last 3 months and deferring those who also report anal sex (penile–anal intercourse) during this period. We modeled the possible impact of this policy on the US blood donor base. Study Design and Methods: We developed a computational model to estimate the percentage of blood donors who would be deferred under a policy of individual HIV risk assessment. The model incorporated demographic information about donors and national survey data on HIV risk behaviors and included age and sex distributions and dependencies. Results: Our model estimates that approximately 1.2% of US blood donors would be deferred under the individual HIV risk assessment paradigm. Discussion: The model predicts a relatively minor effect of replacing the time‐based deferral for MSM with individual risk‐based deferral for sexual behavior. As US blood centers implement this new policy, the effect may be mitigated by donor gains, which warrant further study. Introduction: India has the second largest HIV epidemic in the world. Despite successes in epidemic control at the population level, a concentrated epidemic persists among gay and other men who have sex with men (MSM). However, India lags in implementation of biomedical prevention technologies, such as HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). In order to inform scale-up of new HIV prevention technologies, including those in the development pipeline, we assessed willingness to use oral PrEP, rectal microbicides, and HIV vaccines, and choices among product characteristics, among MSM in two major Indian cities. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted with a discrete choice experiment (DCE), an established methodology for quantitively estimating end-user preferences in healthcare. Survey participants were randomly assigned to one of three questionnaire versions, each of which included a DCE for one prevention technology. Participants were recruited using chain-referral sampling by peer outreach workers, beginning with seeds in community-based organizations and public sex environments, in Chennai and Mumbai. DCE data were analyzed using random-parameters (mixed) logit (RPL) models. Results: Among participants (n = 600), median age was 25 years, with median monthly income of INR 9,000 (~US$125). Nearly one-third (32%) had completed a college degree and 82% were single/never married. A majority of participants (63%) reported condomless anal sex in the past month. The acceptability of all three products was universally high (≥90%). Across all three products, four attributes were significant predictors of acceptability—with efficacy consistently the most important attribute, and in decreasing order of preference, side-effects, dosing schedule, and venue. MSM varied in their preferences for product attributes in relation to their levels of education and income, and engagement in sex work and HIV risk behavior. Conclusion: This study provides empirical evidence to facilitate the integration of end users' preferences throughout design, testing, and dissemination phases of HIV prevention technologies. We examined combinations of nine sexual activities that occurred during a sex episode with a recent male partner among men who have sex with men (MSM) who attended an urban sexual health clinic from April-2017 to September-2017. We collected the following sexual activities: tongue-kissing, penises touching, using saliva during mutual masturbation, performed rimming, received rimming, performed fellatio, received fellatio, insertive anal sex, and receptive anal sex. During a single-sex episode, the most common combinations of sexual activities involved all nine activities (10.6%, 166/1542). We assessed the agreement between any two sexual activities that occurred together during a sex episode. Agreement was highest for receiving rimming and receptive anal sex (kappa = 0.40; 95% CI: 0.35, 0.45), and performing rimming and insertive anal sex (kappa = 0.38; 95% CI: 0.33, 0.42). Agreement was lowest for insertive anal sex and receiving fellatio (kappa = −0.01; 95% CI: −0.05, 0.03), and receptive anal sex and insertive anal sex (kappa = −0.08; 95% CI: −0.13, 0.03). Minority stressors have been linked to HIV risk behaviors among gay, bisexual, queer, and other men who have sex with men (MSM). Committed partnerships are a key context for new HIV infections and coping with minority stress among MSM, but very little work has tested the minority stress-HIV risk link among male couples, and little is known about how processes within one's relationship may exacerbate or buffer this association. The present study examined links between minority stress (i.e., internalized stigma, microaggressions) and HIV transmission risk behaviors (i.e., condomless anal sex with outside partners, breaks in relationship agreements) among male couples, as well as relationship-based moderators (i.e., social support, dyadic coping) of these associations. An analytic sample of male couples from a large cohort study (analytic N = 410 individuals, 205 dyads) completed self-report measures of minority stress, relationship-based moderators, and HIV transmission risk behaviors which were submitted to moderated actor-partner interdependence models (APIMs). In many cases, coping with stress with one's partner buffered the minority stress-HIV transmission link risk. Club drug use—including 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine, ketamine, crack/cocaine, hallucinogens, gamma hydroxybutyrate, volatile nitrites, and methamphetamine—has been linked to sexual risk behaviors among MSM. Few studies examine how the use of club drugs and the association between club drug use during sex and sexual risk may differ by race/ethnicity. Using data from a cross-sectional study among alcohol-using MSM in San Francisco (n = 252), we examined the associations between the interaction of race/ethnicity and club drug use during sex, and the following behavioral outcomes: any condomless anal intercourse (CAI), insertive CAI, receptive CAI, and any serodiscordant sex in the past six months. All models controlled for income, HIV status, relationship status, age, and current use of a biomedical HIV prevention tool (i.e., Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis [PrEP] or antiretroviral therapy). There were significant racial differences in club drug use (p < 0.001) and club drug use during sex (p = 0.01). Asian/Pacific Islander (API) and Latino participants reported using club drugs the most at 78.8% and 79%, respectively. Among users of club drugs, club drug use during sex was most common among Black (100%), and Latino MSM (93%). Significant interactions between race/ethnicity and club drug use during sex were observed for CAI (p = 0.02), insertive CAI (p = 0.01), and receptive CAI (p = 0.01). API participants who used club drug during sex had higher odds of reporting CAI (aOR = 15.27, CI = 1.50–155.34), insertive CAI (aOR = 21.11, CI = 2.04–218.10), and receptive CAI (aOR = 21.11, CI = 2.04–218.10). Given the differing rates of club drug use during sex by race/ethnicity and the role race/ethnicity plays in modifying the relationships between club drug use during sex and sexual risk behaviors, culturally-tailored interventions may be needed to address the needs of ethnically-diverse, club drug-using MSM. This study measures changes in condomless anal sex (CAS) among HIV-negative men who have sex with men (MSM) who are not taking pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). It considers the 2014–2019 cycles of the American Men's Internet Survey, a serial, cross-sectional web-based survey of US cisgender MSM aged ≥ 15 years, in which ~ 10% of each year's sample is drawn from the previous year. Among those surveyed for 2 years who remained HIV-negative and off PrEP, reports of having any CAS and of CAS partner number were compared across years. We disaggregated by partner HIV status, and considered demographic predictors. The overall population saw a significant 2.2 percentage-point (pp) increase in reports of any CAS year-over-year. Sub-populations with the largest year-on-year increases were 15–24-year-olds (5.0-pp) and Hispanic respondents (5.1-pp), with interaction (young Hispanic respondents = 12.8-pp). On the relative scale, these numbers correspond to 3.2%, 7.2%, 7.3% and 18.7%, respectively. Absolute increases were concentrated among partners reported as HIV-negative. Multivariable analyses for CAS initiation found effects concentrated among Hispanic and White youth and residents of fringe counties of large metropolitan areas. CAS partner number increases were similarly predicted by Hispanic identity and young age. Although condom use remains more common than PrEP use, increasing CAS among MSM not on PrEP suggests potential new HIV transmission pathways. Concentration of increases among 18–24-year-old MSM portends future increases in the proportion of newly diagnosed HIV that occur among youth. Concentration among young Hispanic MSM will likely expand existing disparities. Although reducing barriers to PrEP remains vital, condom promotion for MSM remains a key public health practice and appears to be missing key audiences. To prevent hepatitis C virus (HCV) reinfection, within the Swiss HCVree Trial, a preventive risk reduction intervention was implemented alongside curative treatment. Formative qualitative research identified three response patterns to the intervention. This mixed-methods study's aim was to cross-validate group differences in (a) the content of sexual risk reduction goals set during intervention and (b) the extent of their behavioural change in condomless anal intercourse with non-steady partners (nsCAI), sexualised and intravenous drug use at start and six-month post-intervention. Qualitative thematic analysis was used to summarise goal setting domains. Quantitative descriptive analysis was used to evaluate group differences based on assumptions of the group descriptions. Results largely confirmed assumptions on inter-group response differences in goal setting and behaviour: as expected group 1 Avoid risks showed the lowest HCV risk profile with changes in nsCAI. Group 2 Minimize-risks and Group 3 Accept-risks showed unchanged nsCAI. Group 3 had the highest HCV risk profile. Differences in their goal preferences (1: condom use; 2 reduction blood exposure; 3 safer dating) highlight diversity in attitudes to behavioural change. Our results improve understanding of variability in intervention responses such as changes in attitudes and behaviour. This provides evidence for intervention tailoring and outcome measurement. Introduction: End‐user perspectives are vital to the design of new biomedical HIV prevention products. Conjoint analysis can support the integration of end‐user perspectives by examining their preferences of potential pre‐exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) products. The Microbicides Trial Network (MTN) 035 protocol examined three placebo rectal dosage forms (insert, enema and suppository) that could deliver PrEP prior to receptive anal sex (RAS). Methods: Between April 2019 and July 2020, we enrolled 217 HIV‐negative, cisgender men who have sex with men (MSM; n = 172; 79.3%) and transgender people (n = 47; 20.7%) ages 18–35 into a randomized cross‐over trial across Malawi, Peru, South Africa, Thailand and the United States. Participants used each product prior to RAS over 4‐week periods. Participants completed a conjoint experiment where they selected between random profiles using seven features (dosage form, timing of use before sex, side effects, duration of protection, effectiveness, frequency of use and need for a prescription). Results: Effectiveness was the strongest determinant of choice (30.4%), followed by modality (18.0%), potential side effects (17.2%), frequency of use (10.8%), duration of protection (10.4%), timing of use before sex (7.4%) and need for a prescription (5.9%). Relative utility scores indicated that the most desirable combination of attributes was a product with 95% efficacy, used 30 minutes before sex, offering a 3‐ to 5‐day protection window, used weekly, having no side effects, in the form of an enema and available over‐the‐counter. Conclusions: Choice in next‐generation PrEP products is highly desired by MSM and transgender people, as no one‐size‐fits‐all approach satisfies all the preferences. MTN‐035 participants weighed product features differently, recognizing the need for diverse, behaviourally congruent biomedical options that fit the needs of intended end‐users. Study investigating mpox infection and its association with sexual behavior among men who have sex with men (MSM) in China was lacking. This observational survey aimed to provide evidence on detail characteristics of mpox cases and sexual behavior, then analyze their relationship among MSM in China to help formulate prevention and control policies. An anonymous cross‐sectional study was conducted in 27 MSM social organizations across 21 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions from July 31 to August 4, 2023. A safe sexual behavior index was constructed based on three risky sexual behaviors in the last month, including condomless anal intercourse, commercial sex and group sex. High safe sexual behavior indicated that the participant engaged in none of the three, and low safe sexual behavior indicated that they engaged in all three behaviors; otherwise, moderate safe sexual behavior was indicated. Among 7538 MSM, the prevalence of mpox was 0.73% (55/7538). The proportion of high safe sexual behavior was 79.64% (6003/7538). The crude prevalence of mpox was lower in the high safe sexual behavior group (0.35%, 21/6003), compared with the low (12.12%, 8/66) and moderate safe (1.78%, 26/1469) sexual behavior group. In the multivariable‐adjusted analysis, after adjusting for all covariates, compared with low safe sexual behavior group, moderate safe sexual behavior group (aOR = 0.21; 95% CI = 0.08, 0.54) and high safe sexual behavior group (aOR = 0.04; 95% CI = 0.02, 0.12) both had lower risk of mpox. Of three sexual behaviors, MSM who reported no commercial sex had the lowest risk of mpox (aOR = 0.23; 95% CI = 0.13, 0.41), compared with those who reported commercial sex in the last month. The other two safe sexual behaviors both were associated with lower risk of mpox (no group sex vs. group sex: aOR = 0.15; 95% CI = 0.08, 0.28; no condomless anal intercourse vs. condomless anal intercourse: aOR = 0.23; 95% CI = 0.13, 0.41). The prevalence of mpox virus infection was nearly 1% among MSM in China. Male HIV serodiscordant couples have diverse relationship agreements regarding sex outside the relationship. We examined the relationship agreements as described by 343 male HIV-negative partners in HIV serodiscordant relationships in Australia, Brazil and Thailand participating in a multi-year cohort study. At baseline, 125 (34.1%) HIV-negative partners reported no agreement, 115 (33.5%) had a monogamous agreement, and 103 (37.9%) had an open agreement allowing sex outside the relationship. Relationship agreements were largely stable over time, with 76% of HIV-negative men reporting the same agreement across follow up, while changes were predominantly towards having an open agreement. Behaviour largely matched relationship agreements, and the predictors of breaking an agreement by having condomless anal intercourse (CLAI) with an outside partner were CLAI within the relationship (OR = 3.17, 95%CI: 1.64–6.14, p < 0.001) and PrEP use in the last three months (OR = 3.42, 95%CI: 1.48–7.92, p = 0.004). When considering HIV transmission risk for HIV-negative men in serodiscordant relationships, greater focus needs to be placed on sex that is occurring outside the relationship and the agreements that facilitate this. The introduction of HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) has the potential to impact the attitudes gay and bisexual men (GBM) who consequently choose to take PrEP have towards treatment as prevention (TasP), and the extent to which they are willing to have condomless anal intercourse (CLAI) with an HIV-positive sexual partner who has an undetectable viral load (UVL). Using a cross-sectional sample from an observational cohort study conducted from August 2018 to March 2020, we examined the extent to which PrEP-experienced GBM are willing to have CLAI with a partner who has a UVL. Simple and multiple logistic regression models were used to identify associated variables. Of the 1386 participants included in the analyses, 79.0% believed in the effectiveness of TasP, and 55.3% were willing to have CLAI with a partner who has a UVL. Wiling participants were less worried about getting HIV when taking PrEP and more likely to believe in TasP. Further research is needed to better understand the gap between belief in TasP and willingness to have CLAI with a partner who has a UVL among PrEP-experienced GBM. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aims: We aim to estimate the number of HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) users among men having sex with men (MSM) in Germany from 2017 through 2020, and analyse if PrEP needs expressed in 2017 might have been met by the expansion of PrEP until 2020. Subject and methods: We estimated the number of PrEP users by using drug prescription data and information on on-demand/intermittent PrEP use from online surveys to determine the proportion of on-demand/intermittent and daily PrEP use as well as the average number of PrEP pills used. The number of MSM in need of PrEP in 2017 was estimated based on four groups defined among respondents to a large online survey, combining respondents with PrEP use intention and respondents indicating substantial sexual risks. The size of each group was estimated based on self-selection biases. MSM with PrEP need in 2017 were compared with the estimated number of persons taking PrEP by June 2020. Results: We estimated a total of 15,600 to 21,600 PrEP users in Germany by the end of June 2020, corresponding to 40–55% of men with PrEP use intention in 2017. A correlation between the regional distribution of PrEP use intention in 11/2017 and actual PrEP use by 06/2020 suggested an unequal regional distribution of unsatisfied needs. The number of men with unmet PrEP needs ranged between 27,500 and 93,000 in 06/2020. Conclusion: PrEP use in Germany has increased considerably between 10/2017 and 06/2020, but large regional inequalities persist. An individual based randomized controlled trial (RCT) was designed to evaluate the impact of a customized short message service (SMS) intervention on HIV-related high-risk behaviors among Men who have sex with men (MSM). In total, 631 HIV-negative MSM were enrolled at baseline and divided into intervention and control groups randomly. Nine months later, the intervention group who received additional customized SMS intervention reported significantly lower rates of multiple partners, unclear partner infection status and condomless anal intercourse compared to the control group who received the routine intervention only. Six months post stopping the SMS intervention, the rates of unclear partner infection status and condomless anal intercourse still remained lower report in the intervention group. Our study shown that the customized SMS interventions can significantly reduce the HIV-related high-risk behaviors among MSM and with sustained effects over a period of time. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (gbMSM) report a higher prevalence of drug use in comparison to the general male population. However, in Ireland, there is a paucity of literature regarding the prevalence of drug use and its determinants among gbMSM. Aims/Objectives: To quantify the prevalence of (i) recreational drug use (RDU) and (ii) sexualised drug use (SDU) among gbMSM in Ireland, and to identify the factors associated with these drug use practices. Methods: The European MSM Internet Survey (EMIS) 2017 was an online, anonymous, internationally-promoted questionnaire. Two binary outcomes were included in our analyses: (1) RDU and (2) SDU in the previous year. Multivariable-adjusted logistic regression explored factors associated with these outcomes, and all independent covariates were adjusted for one another. Results: Among gbMSM without HIV (n = 1,898), 40.9% and 13.1% engaged in RDU and SDU in the previous year, respectively. Among diagnosed-positive gbMSM (n = 141), the past-year respective prevalence estimates were 51.8% and 26.2%. Increased odds of RDU were observed among gbMSM who were younger (vs. 40+ years) (18–24 years; AOR 2.96, 95% CI 2.05–4.28, 25–39 years; AOR 1.66, 95% CI 1.27–2.16), lived in Dublin (vs. elsewhere) (AOR 1.47, 95% CI 1.17–1.83), and engaged in condomless anal intercourse (CAI) in the previous year (vs. none) (1–2 partners; AOR 1.79, 95% CI 1.34–2.38, 6+ partners; AOR 1.79, 95% CI 1.18–2.71). Greater odds of SDU were identified among those who lived in Dublin (vs. elsewhere) (AOR 1.50, 95% CI 1.07–2.10), and engaged in CAI (vs. none) (1–2 partners; AOR 3.16, 95% CI 2.05–4.88, 3–5 partners; AOR 2.50, 95% CI 1.47–4.26, and 6+ partners; AOR 3.79, 95% CI 2.23–6.43). Conclusion: GbMSM report a high prevalence of drug use in Ireland. Background: This study conducted a survey of men who have sex with men (MSM) in Maanshan City of Anhui Province to assess the risk behaviors related to human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted from June 2016 to June 2019. The MSM were recruited by a peer-driven sampling method. A face-to-face interview with anonymous questionnaire was used for data collection. The information collected by the survey was summarized and epidemiology described the basic characteristics of MSM, and then the related factors were statistically analyzed. Results: A total of 934 MSM were recruited with a average age was 30.5 (SD = 8.90) years old, including 816 (87.4%) HIV negative participants and 118 (12.6%) HIV positive ones. This study showed that freelancer (OR = 4.02, 95% CI: 1.96–8.23), scope of sexual partners distribution (OR = 1.78, 95% CI: 1.36–2.33), number of male sexual partners (OR = 2.11, 95% CI: 1.47–3.02), role of anal sex with men was receptive (OR = 2.54, 95% CI: 1.25–5.13) and versatile (OR = 2.34, 95% CI: 1.31–4.19) and non-steady sex partners (OR = 2.14, 95% CI: 1.56–2.93) were risk factors for HIV infection, while monthly income (OR = 0.68, 95% CI: 0.57–0.82), education level (OR = 0.79, 95% CI: 0.66–0.95), frequency of condom use (OR = 0.53, 95% CI: 0.35–0.81) and number of oral sex partners (OR = 0.35, 95% CI: 0.24–0.51) in the past 6 months were protective factors for HIV infection. Conclusion: Risk behaviors were common in MSM, and urgent need for targeted and comprehensive interventions to reduce risky sexual behaviour and to prevent HIV infection in MSM. Introduction: Daily and event‐driven oral pre‐exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) reduce the risk of HIV acquisition. PrEP use can vary over time, yet little is known about the trajectories of PrEP use irrespective of the chosen PrEP regimens among men who have sex with men (MSM). Methods: Using data from a mobile, web‐based diary application collected daily from 17 August 2015 until 6 May 2018, we analysed PrEP use and sexual behaviour in two large cohorts, AMPrEP (Amsterdam, the Netherlands) and Be‐PrEP‐ared (Antwerp, Belgium). In both cohorts, participants could choose between daily and event‐driven oral PrEP every 3 months. We used group‐based trajectory modelling to identify trajectories of PrEP use over time and their determinants. In addition, we estimated the incidence rate of chlamydia, gonorrhoea and syphilis within these trajectories. Results: We included 516 MSM (n = 322 AMPrEP; n = 194 Be‐PrEP‐ared), of whom 24% chose event‐driven PrEP at PrEP initiation. Participants contributed 225,015 days of follow‐up (median = 508 days [IQR = 429−511]). Four distinct PrEP use trajectories were identified: ≤2 tablets per week ("low frequency," 12% of the total population), 4 tablets per week ("variable," 17%), "almost daily" (31%) and "always daily" (41%). Compared to participants with "low frequency" PrEP use, participants with "variable" (odds ratio [OR] = 2.18, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.04−4.60) and "almost daily" PrEP use were more often AMPrEP participants (OR = 2.64, 95% CI = 1.27−5.49). "Almost daily" PrEP users were more often employed (OR = 6.76, 95% CI = 2.10−21.75) and were younger compared to participants with "low frequency" PrEP use. In addition, the number of days on which anal sex occurred was lower among participants with "low frequency" PrEP use compared to the other groups (all p<0.001). Compared to "low frequency" PrEP users, the incidence rates of chlamydia and gonorrhoea were higher for participants with "almost daily" and "always daily" PrEP use. Conclusions: We uncovered four distinct PrEP use trajectories, pointing to different patterns of PrEP use in practice beyond the two‐regimen dichotomy. These trajectories were related to sexual behaviour and rates of sexually transmitted infection. In Lima, Peru, men who have sex with men (MSM) and transgender women (TW) are disproportionately affected by HIV. Patterns of sexual behavior vary by sexual partner type, which has implications for HIV prevention intervention design. We examine correlates of sex and condomless anal intercourse (CAI) with each of four types of partners among HIV-negative MSM and TW in Lima who completed monthly questionnaires about partnership types and CAI. Odds ratios were calculated using generalized estimating equations to identify correlates of being in different types of partnerships and CAI within those partnerships. Among 1,831 MSM and TW with over 14,792 study visits, CAI was most reported with main partners, followed by casual partners, one-time partners, and clients. Presence of an alcohol use disorder (AUD) significantly increased the odds of CAI with all types of partners (main: OR 1.36 (95% CI 1.17-1.57); casual: 1.49 (1.27-1.75); one-time: 1.45 (1.22-1.72); client 1.52 (1.12-2.08)); recent alcohol use increased odds of CAI with main partners. Having one main partner decreased the odds of being in casual and one-time partnerships and of CAI in all types of partnerships. Interventions targeting AUDs and individuals with multiple sexual contacts could reduce CAI and HIV risk in this population. While there has been a growth in studies examining sexual violence among sexual minority men, little research attention has been paid to the experience of sexual violence among young sexual minority men (YSMM). In this article we analyze secondary data from the baseline of a pilot randomized control trial with 318 YSMM aged 15 to 24 years in the United States who were in relationships with other males to examine the associations between sexual minority-specific stigma and sociodemographic and relationship characteristics and experiences of intimate partner violence (IPV) and sexual IPV in their relationships. Approximately one-in-five participants reported experiencing any form of IPV and 6% reported sexual IPV in their current relationship. Participants who reported sexual minority-specific familial rejection (Adjusted Odds Rato (aOR) = 2.33, 95% confidence interval [CI] [1.03, 5.26], p < .05), internalized heterosexism (aOR = 3.17, 95% CI [1.45, 6.95], p < .01), and housing insecurity (aOR = 7.22, 95% CI [1.66, 31.34], p < .01) reported higher odds of sexual IPV in their relationship. Study findings point to the role of multiple sexual minority-specific forms of stigma in creating vulnerabilities for the experience of sexual IPV among YSMM, and highlight the need for continued research and interventions that address sexual minority-specific stigma and structural vulnerabilities to guide violence prevention efforts with YSMM. We investigated the determinants of daily PrEP use and coverage of condomless anal sex (CAS) by PrEP among men who have sex with men in Wales, UK. We measured PrEP use by electronic monitors and CAS by secure online surveys. We defined PrEP use based on daily medication cap openings and coverage as CAS episodes preceded by ≥ 3 days of PrEP use and followed by ≥ 2 days of PrEP use. We included 57 participants (5463 observations). An STI diagnosis was associated with lower PrEP use but also lower PrEP coverage. Older adults had higher PrEP use. A belief that other PrEP users took PrEP as prescribed was associated with lower PrEP coverage. An STI diagnosis is an important cue for an intervention, reflecting episodes of high-risk sexual behaviour and low PrEP coverage. We assessed pathways between sexual minority stigma and condomless anal intercourse (CAI) among two samples of Black South African men who have sex with other men (MSM). Two cross-sectional surveys were conducted in Tshwane, South Africa; one among 199 Black MSM and another among 480 Black MSM. Men reported on external and internalized experiences of sexual minority stigma, mental health, alcohol use, information-motivation-behavioral skills (IMB) model constructs, and CAI. Structural equation modeling was used to test whether external and internalized stigma were directly and indirectly associated with CAI. In both studies, external stigma and internalized stigma were associated with CAI through IMB model constructs. These results suggest a pathway through which stigma contributes to HIV risk. For HIV prevention efforts to be effective, strengthening safer sex motivation and thus decreasing sexual risk behavior likely requires reducing sexual minority stigma that MSM experience and internalize. Background: The impact of starting HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) on diagnoses of sexually transmitted infections (STI) remains unclear. We used data from German HIV/STI Checkpoints collected from 01/2019 to 08/2021 to determine the impact of PrEP use on syphilis, gonorrhoea and chlamydia diagnoses. Methods: We used self-reported data on demographics, sexual behaviour, testing and PrEP use, as well as lab-confirmed diagnoses from visits to HIV/STI Checkpoints in Germany. PrEP use was categorized as (1) never used; (2) intention to use; (3) former use; (4) current on-demand use; (5) daily use. In multivariate regression analyses (MRA) with gonorrhoea, chlamydia, and syphilis diagnoses as outcomes, we controlled for age, number of sexual partners, number of condomless anal intercourse (CAI) partners in the last six months, and testing recency. Results: For the analysis, we included 9,219 visits for gonorrhoea and chlamydia testing and 11,199 visits for syphilis testing conducted at checkpoints from 01/2019 to 08/2021. MRA identified age (aOR 0.98; 95%CI 0.97–0.99), number of sexual partners in the past six months (aOR 4.90; 95%CI 2.53–9.52 for 11 + partners), and use of chemsex substances (aOR 1.62; 95%CI 1.32-2.00) as risk factors for gonorrhoea, while age (aOR 0.99; 95%CI 0.98-1.00), number of CAI partners (aOR 3.19; 95%CI 2.32–4.41 for 5 + partners), partner sorting (aOR 1.30; 95%CI 1.09–1.54), and use of chemsex substances (aOR 1.29; 95%CI 1.05–1.59) were risk factors for chlamydia infections. For syphilis, the number of CAI partners (aOR 3.19; 95%CI 1.60–6.34 for 5 + partners) was found to be the only significant risk factor. There was a strong association between PrEP use and the number of sexual partners (≤ 5 vs.>5: aOR 3.58; 95%CI 2.15–5.97 for daily PrEP use), the number of CAI partners in the past six months (≤ 1 vs.>1: aOR 3.70; 95%CI 2.15–6.37 for daily PrEP use), and the number of STI tests performed (suggesting higher testing frequency). Both outcomes were also related to partner sorting, chemsex, and selling sex. Conclusions: Checkpoint visits reporting current PrEP use or intention to start PrEP correlated with eligibility criteria for PrEP, i.e. high partner numbers, inconsistent condom use during anal intercourse, and use of chemsex drugs. Use of HIV-specific prevention methods such as HIV serosorting, PrEP sorting, and viral load sorting was reported more frequently. Berlin is amongst the cities most affected by the current monkeypox outbreak. Here, we report clinical characteristics of the first patients with confirmed monkeypox admitted to our center. We analyzed anamnestic, clinical, and laboratory data. Within a period of 2 weeks, six patients were hospitalized in our unit. All were MSM and had practiced condomless receptive anal intercourse in the weeks preceding admission. The chief complaint in all patients but one was severe anal pain unprecedented in severity. Investigations revealed proctitis, as well as anal and rectal ulcers with detection of monkeypox virus. Introduction: Long‐acting injectable (LAI) pre‐exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV prevention was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 2021. LAI PrEP is more effective than oral PrEP. However, it is not clear whether the groups most at risk of HIV in the United States will use LAI PrEP. Willingness to use LAI PrEP and preference for LAI versus oral PrEP has not been reported for sexual and gender minority (SGM) people in the southern United States, where the HIV epidemic is concentrated. Our goal was to assess willingness to use LAI PrEP and preference for oral versus LAI PrEP among SGM people in the southern United States and to assess differences in willingness by demographics and sexual behaviour. Methods: We conducted an online, cross‐sectional survey of SGM people aged 15–34 years in the southern United States (n = 583). Participants reported willingness to use LAI PrEP and preferences for LAI PrEP versus daily oral PrEP. We assessed bivariate associations and adjusted prevalence ratios for the LAI‐PrEP‐related outcomes and key demographic and behavioural characteristics. Results: Overall, 68% of all participants (n = 393) reported being willing to use LAI PrEP that provides protection against HIV for 3 months. Of those, most (n = 320, 81%) indicated a preference for using LAI PrEP, compared to a daily oral pill or no preference. Willingness to use LAI PrEP was more common among transgender and non‐binary participants and participants who engaged in condomless anal intercourse in the last 6 months. Hispanic participants were more likely and non‐Hispanic Black participants were less likely to report willingness to use LAI PrEP compared to non‐Hispanic White participants. Conclusions: Willingness to use LAI PrEP was high among SGM people in the southern United States, although there were some important differences in willingness based on demographic characteristics. Decreased willingness to use LAI PrEP among groups who are disproportionately affected by the HIV epidemic, such as non‐Hispanic Black SGM people, could exacerbate existing disparities in HIV incidence. Anodyspareunia is the experience of recurrent or persistent anal pain during receptive anal penetration. We examined pain characteristics and the role of control cognitions and sexual flexibility in those with anodyspareunia. We recruited two online convenience samples (N = 96, N = 123) of individuals who experienced pain during receptive anal penetration. Those with anodyspareunia reported pain, on average, during 44% of penetrative activity occasions. Most participants first experienced pain during their first anal penetrative experience and described the pain as located at the anal opening or inside the anus and lasting primarily during entry and thrusting. As predicted, the examination of penetration cognitions suggested that more cognitions related to a loss of control were associated with worse pain symptoms and sexual distress. While sexual flexibility did not significantly moderate the relationships between control cognitions and pain or sexual distress, greater flexibility was significantly associated with less sexual distress. This study provides novel information on the characteristics of those who experience anodyspareunia. In addition, we found an association between control cognitions and pain intensity in those with anodyspareunia. Modeling studies suggest that transmission of gonorrhea and chlamydia to multiple anatomic sites within the same person is necessary to reproduce observed high rates of extragenital gonorrhea/chlamydia. Limited empiric behavioral data support this idea. In this cross-sectional study, we enrolled individuals assigned male at birth who reported sex with men (MSM) and denied receptive anal sex (RAS) in the past 2 years. Participants enrolled in-person at the Sexual Health Clinic in Seattle, Washington (December 2019–September 2021) or online (July 2021–September 2021), and completed a sexual history questionnaire that asked about specific sexual acts and sequence of those acts during their last sexual encounter. We enrolled 210 MSM during the 16-month recruiting period. The median number of sex acts reported at last sexual encounter was 4 (interquartile range 3–5). The most commonly reported acts at last sex were: kissing (83%), receiving oral sex (82%), and insertive anal sex (65%). There was substantial variability in the sequence of acts reported; no unique sequence of sex acts was reported by more than 12% of the population. Ninety percent of participants reported sequences of behaviors that could lead to gonorrhea or chlamydia transmission within the same person (respondent or partner); the most common of these combinations was kissing followed by receiving oral sex (64% reporting). Engaging in multiple sex acts within a single sexual encounter is common and may lead to gonorrhea/chlamydia transmission within the same person. Introduction: Sexualized drug use (SDU), the use of psychoactive drugs in the context of sexual intercourse, has been identified as a risk factor for HIV among men who have sex with men (MSM) in Asia. Given the distinct social and cultural context of same‐sex relationships and drug‐using practice in Asia, we aimed to describe the prevalence of SDU in East and South Asian countries and its associations with condomless anal sex (CAI) and HIV status. Synthesizing SDU research in this region, including SDU definitions, prevalence and outcomes, provides insights to inform future research and improved programme planning, resourcing and advocacy. Methods: We systematically searched OVID Medline, OVID EMBASE, OVID Global Health, CINAHL, PsycINFO and SCOPUS publication databases for scientific articles published from 1990 to 2022 measuring SDU among MSM in East and South Asian countries. A narrative synthesis was utilized to describe key study attributes and findings, and meta‐analyses using random pooled effect models were used to estimate SDU prevalence and its associations with CAI and HIV status. Subgroup meta‐analyses, sensitivity analysis and assessment of publication bias examined potential sources of heterogeneity for the pooled SDU prevalence estimates. Results and discussion: Of the 1788 publications screened, 49 publications met the selection criteria and 18 were suitable for meta‐analyses. Findings highlight SDU definitions distinct from other regions but inconsistencies in the definition of SDU between studies that have been highlighted in research elsewhere. The pooled prevalence of recent SDU (past 12 months) was 13% (95% CI = 10–16%; I2 = 97.6) but higher when studies utilized self‐administered surveys (15%; 95% CI = 12–19%; p<0.05). SDU was associated with greater odds of CAI (pooled odds ratio [OR] = 3.21; 95% CI = 1.82–5.66) and living with diagnosed HIV (OR = 4.73; 95% CI = 2.27–8.21). Conclusions: SDU is common among MSM in East and South Asian countries, but varying SDU definitions limit between‐study comparisons. Objective: to analyze the factors associated with inconsistent use of male condoms among HIV-negative men who have sex with other men. Method: a cross-sectional, analytical and nationwide study conducted online in all the Brazilian regions in 2020, via networks and in dating websites. Inconsistent condom use was defined as occasional use or as never using it. Descriptive statistical analyses were performed, as well as association and binary logistic regression tests. Results: inconsistent condom use was reported by 1,222 (85%) of all 1,438 participants. The "homosexuals" (ORAdj: 2.03; 95% CI: 1.14-3.59; p=0.016), "having a fixed partner" (ORAdj: 2.19; 95% CI: 1.55-3.09; p<0.001), "oral sex" (ORAdj: 2.41; 95% CI: 1.31-4.43; p=0.005), "insertive anal" (ORAdj: 1.98; 95% CI: 1.10-3.58; p=0.023) and "STI diagnosis" (ORAdj: 1.59; 95% CI: 1.13-2.24; p=0.007) variables were independently associated with inconsistent use of male condoms. The "receiving advice on HIV test from a friend" (ORAdj: 0.71; 95% CI: 0.52-0.96; p=0.028) and "sex worker" (ORAdj: 0.26; 95% CI: 0.11-0.60; p=0.002) variables were protective factors. Conclusion: the variables under study pointed to a strong relationship between steady partners and increased trust and low adherence to condom use, corroborating other studies. National prevalence of physical and sexual violence and its relationship to sexual behaviors are unknown among men who have sex with men (MSM). We estimated 12-month prevalence of physical and sexual violence and assessed relationships between violence and sexual behaviors among MSM. Data were obtained from National HIV Behavioral Surveillance 2017 that used time-space sampling methods to recruit and interview MSM in 22 U.S. cities. Weighted percentages with 95% confidence intervals (CI) were reported. Adjusted prevalence ratios (aPR) and 95% CIs were calculated using logistic regression with predicted marginal means. Overall, 10.2% (95% CI: 9.3%–11.2%) of MSM experienced physical violence only, 3.2% (95% CI: 2.7%–3.7%) experienced sexual violence only, and 2.3% (95% CI: 1.9%–2.7%) experienced both types of violence, in the past 12 months. Compared to MSM who did not experience violence, those who did reported higher percentages of unemployment, poverty, homelessness, same-sex discrimination, non-injection drug use, and binge drinking. Violence was not independently associated with condomless anal sex among MSM. MSM who experienced both types of violence were more likely than those who did not experience violence to have had four or more male sex partners (aPR=1.18, 95% CI: 1.02–1.37). MSM who experienced both types of violence (aPR=2.49, 95% CI: 1.52–4.09), sexual violence (aPR=2.27, 95% CI: 1.47–3.52), or physical violence (aPR=1.76, 95% CI: 1.27–2.44) were more likely than those who did not experience violence to have had exchange sex. Recent physical violence and sexual violence are common among MSM. Findings highlight the importance of violence screening and suggest the need for tailored interventions that improve the safety and economic security of MSM who experience violence, including those who exchange sex. Background: An individualized behavior‐based selection approach has potential to allow for a more equitable blood donor eligibility process. We collected biological and behavioral data from urban gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (GBM) to inform the use of this approach in Canada. Study design and methods: Engage is a closed prospective cohort of sexually active GBM, aged 16+ years, recruited via respondent‐driven‐sampling (RDS) in Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver, Canada. Participants completed a questionnaire on behaviors (past 6 months) and tested for HIV and sexually transmitted and blood‐borne infections at each visit. Rate ratios for HIV infection and predictive values for blood donation eligibility criteria were estimated by RDS‐adjusted Poisson regression. Results: Data on 2008 (study visits 2017‐02 to 2021‐08) HIV‐negative participants were used. The HIV incidence rate for the three cities was 0.4|100 person‐years [95%CI:0.3, 0.6]. HIV seroconversion was associated with age <30 years: adjusted rate ratio (aRR) 9.1 [95%CI:3.2, 26.2], 6–10 and >10 anal sex partners versus 1–6 aRR: 5.3 [2.1,13.5] and 8.4 [3.4, 20.9], and use of crystal methamphetamine during sex: 4.2 [1.5, 11.6]. Applying the combined selection criteria: drug injection, ≥2 anal sex partners, and a new anal sex partner, detected all participants who seroconverted (100% sensitivity, 100% negative predictive value), and would defer 63% of study participants from donating. Conclusion: Using three screening questions regarding drug injection and sexual behaviors in the past 6 months would correctly identify potential GBM donors at high risk of having recently contracted HIV. HPTN 069/ACTG 5305 was designed to evaluate potential new PrEP regimens that included maraviroc, tenofovir disoproxil fumarate, and/or emtricitabine. The current analyses assessed antiretroviral (ARV) plasma concentrations in relation to sexual behavior in 224 cisgender men who have sex with men and 2 transgender women at risk for HIV. Poisson generalized estimating equations (GEE) regression were used to test for associations between self-reported sexual behavior, sociodemographic, behavioral variables, and study drug levels The median (IQR) age was 30 [25, 37] years old; 48.2% had completed college; 27.4% were Black and 21.7% Latino. At weeks 24 and 48, one third of participants reported condomless anal sex (CAS) in the prior month with more than one partner. CAS was associated with daily ARV drug use (χ2 = 12.64, p = 0.002). Older individuals and those with greater education were more likely to ingest ARV drugs daily (χ2 = 9.36, p = 0.009 and χ2 = 8.63, p = 0.013, respectively), while neither race nor ethnicity was associated with daily ARV drug use. Participants who reported recent condomless anal sex and/or advanced education had higher rates of daily ARV drug use. Background: Routine screening for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) facilitates early diagnosis and treatment, thereby preventing morbidity and onward transmission. We estimated the prevalence of prior HIV/STI testing among men who have sex with men (MSM) and transgender women (TGW) in Bangkok, Thailand, and identified factors associated with prior testing. Methods: Cross-sectional analyses were performed using data collected at enrollment into an HIV incidence cohort. From April to October 2017, MSM and TGW were enrolled if they were aged 18–35 years, reported anal intercourse with a male or TGW partner, and reported behavioral vulnerability to HIV. Participants answered questions about demographics, sexual behaviors, and lifetime HIV/STI testing history. Multivariable robust Poisson regression was used to estimate risk ratios (RRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for factors potentially associated with prior testing. Results: Among 1,014 participants, 348 (34.3%) were TGW and the median age was 21.6 (interquartile range 20.0-24.8) years. Prior testing for HIV was reported by 421 (41.5%) and for other STIs by 268 (26.4%). HIV testing was more common among participants aged ≥ 22 years (RR 1.37 [95% CI 1.13–1.67]), with college education as compared to secondary or less (RR 1.37 [95% CI 1.08–1.72]), and who met male sexual partners online (RR 1.52 [95% CI 1.24–1.85]), but lower among participants attracted to both men and women as compared to men only (RR 0.64 [95% CI 0.51–0.81]) and who met male sexual partners in bars (RR 0.83 [95% CI 0.72–0.97]). Similar associations were observed with prior testing for other STIs, including increased testing among participants with college education (RR 1.52 [95% CI 1.11–2.09]) and who met male sexual partners online (RR 1.73 [95% CI 1.30–2.31]), but lower among participants attracted to both men and women (RR 0.70 [95% CI 0.51–0.96]) and who met male sexual partners in bars (RR 0.67 [95% CI 0.54–0.83]). Conclusions: Despite behavioral vulnerability, prior testing for HIV and other STIs was uncommon. Online engagement strategies may be effectively reaching Thai MSM and TGW who meet sexual partners online, but new interventions are needed to encourage testing among younger, less educated, and bisexual MSM and TGW. Purpose: To characterize the prevalence of food insecurity among men who have sex with men (MSM) and assess its associations with sexual health measures and substance use, as compared to poverty status.Methods: In 2017, 10,049 US MSM were recruited online and completed the American Men's Internet Survey. The survey assessed food insecurity, annual household income and past-year behaviors: condomless anal intercourse, exchange sex, any illicit substance use other than marijuana, use of methamphetamine, alkyl nitrites or gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB), HIV testing, and sexually transmitted infection testing and diagnosis. We tested associations between behavioral outcomes and food insecurity or poverty, controlling for demographic characteristics.Results: The prevalence of food insecurity among AMIS participants was 15.8%. Food insecurity nonresponse was 2.5% while income nonresponse was 19.0%. Food insecurity was significantly and positively associated with all behavioral outcomes, while poverty was significantly and positively associated only with exchange sex, any illicit substance use, methamphetamine, and GHB use. In models that included both food insecurity and poverty as exposures, food insecurity remained independently positively associated with all behavioral outcomes and the associations for poverty level were null for all outcomes except methamphetamine and GHB use.Conclusions: Assessing food insecurity in sexual health and substance use survey research may provide a more robust indicator of economic deprivation and provide insight for HIV and STI prevention interventions. Background: To reduce the risk of HIV transmission through transfusion, gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (gbMSM) are deferred from donating blood in many countries for varying lengths of time after having sex with another man. In 2021, screening algorithms to identify high‐risk sexual behaviours using gender‐neutral criteria (i.e., without any question on MSM or time deferral for MSM) were implemented in the United Kingdom based on recommendations in a report from the FAIR (For the Assessment of Individualised Risk) steering group. Objectives: This study examines the potential donation loss expected with these criteria if implemented in Canada. Methods: Responses from blood donors regarding engagement in behaviours such as chemsex and anal sex with a new or multiple partners within 3 months of donation were collected using an on‐site paper questionnaire. Results: Applying the FAIR criteria resulted in donation loss of 1.0% (95% CI: 0.8% – 1.1%). Donation loss would be higher amongst younger donors aged 17–25 (2.0%, 95% CI: 1.6% – 2.3%). Overall, 20% of donors reported feeling uncomfortable answering study questions but only 2.0% said it would stop them from donating. Unlike antiretrovirals for HIV treatment, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) does not require continual adherence to be fully effective; rather, PrEP adherence is important only in the context of episodes of sexual risk. Therefore, studies of PrEP adherence and persistence must incorporate contemporaneous measurement of sexual behavior. Short, frequent surveys of PrEP use and sexual behavior allow for the measurement of the alignment between PrEP use and sexual behavior. We assessed the feasibility of using biweekly PrEP use and sexual behavior questionnaires to measure adherence and persistence on PrEP over a period of four months. We also measured the alignment of PrEP use and condomless anal sex. PrEP-using MSM in the southern US were recruited using online advertisements. Participants completed a baseline survey followed by brief surveys every two weeks for 16 weeks to report their PrEP use and sexual behavior over the preceding two-week period. Study retention was high: 91% of participants completed the baseline and final survey and, overall, 86% of study surveys were completed. Self-reported PrEP adherence and persistence were high, but instances of PrEP non-adherence were observed to frequently overlap with episodes of condomless anal sex. The most prominent reasons cited for missing PrEP doses were being too busy, not having PrEP on hand, and not being sexually active. Completing short, biweekly surveys of PrEP use and sexual behavior is feasible and acceptable to MSM in the southern US. Substance use is a significant risk factor for HIV infection among adolescent men who have sex with men (AMSM). Substance use may reduce the use of HIV prevention measures or increase the likelihood of engaging in activities with a higher risk of HIV transmission, but there is a lack of studies dedicated to analyzing these mechanisms in adolescents and young MSM. This study aimed to explore the impact of substance use on condomless anal sex (CAS) in a large, racially diverse sample of AMSM. Additionally, we investigated how an individual's general level of substance use moderated the association between substance use before sex and CAS at the partnership level. Baseline data for an HIV prevention intervention were collected through online surveys from April 2018 to June 2020. The sample consisted of 1624 AMSM (M age, 16.69 years) who reported at least one sexual partner in the previous 3 months. Participants provided information about their three most recent sexual partners, including their relationship to the partner, PrEP use, frequency of alcohol, marijuana, and non-prescription drug use before sex, and the number of CAS acts. Participants also completed measures of their substance use frequency. Multilevel modeling in Mplus was used for data analysis, accounting for sexual partnerships nested within participants. All models controlled for PrEP use and relationship status. Results revealed a significant positive association between the frequency of non-prescription drug use before sex and CAS at the partnership level. This indicates that higher non-prescription drug use frequency before sex was associated with a greater number of CAS acts with partners. Moreover, the cross-level interaction between alcohol frequency and non-prescription drug use before sex was statistically significant. Specifically, for participants with high alcohol frequency scores, there was a significant positive association between non-prescription drug use before sex and CAS at the partnership level. AMSM with higher average alcohol consumption were more likely to engage in CAS when using non-prescription drugs prior to sex with a partner, compared to those with lower alcohol consumption. This study's use of multilevel data analysis contributes innovatively to the field by shedding light on how substance use operates within sexual relationships and different partnership dynamics. Sexualized substance use or “chemsex” may contribute to the HIV epidemic among men who have sex with men (MSM) in Thailand. Specific patterns of chemsex use may be associated with different HIV/STI transmission risks. We examined typologies and correlates of sexualized substance use among a sample of high-risk MSM (n = 532) who had attended a private sex party or circuit party in the past three years using latent class analysis. Multinomial regression was used to adjust for variables associated with the 3-class latent class model. We identified a 3-class model as the best fitting model, which included: (1) “negligible sexualized substance users” (36.7%), who had never engaged in chemsex in the past six months; (2) “sexualized substance users” (13.9%), who had a high level of sexualized alcohol use and a wide range of other substances before or during sex in the past six months; and (3) “exclusive chemsex users” (49.4%), who predominantly used crystal methamphetamine, amyl nitrite, and erectile dysfunctional drugs before or during sex in the past six months. Compared to negligible sexualized substance users, exclusive chemsex users were more likely to be HIV-positive, more likely to have six or more sexual partners in the past six months, less likely to have condom use at last anal intercourse, and more likely to have provided sex work. Relative to negligible sexualized substance users, sexualized substance users reported more frequent online sex-seeking behaviors. Some men who have sex with men (MSM) engage in the exchange of sexual services for money, drugs, shelter or something else of value. There has been limited research examining the factors that influence how male sex workers (MSWs) determine their fees for their services. To learn more about this, qualitative interview data were analyzed from 180 MSM from 8 US cities who had recently engaged in exchange sex with clients they had primarily met through dating/hookup websites and apps. The primary factor that affected participants’ fees was the type of services provided, with a higher price generally charged for anal sex than for oral sex, mutual masturbation or massage. Condomless anal sex, in particular, commanded a higher fee. Additionally, participants required more money for special kinks or fetishes or any services that they considered to be risky, demanding or physically or emotionally uncomfortable. Other factors that affected how much participants charged for a given encounter included the duration of the meeting, the level of client appeal, the perceived wealth of the client, and the participant’s current financial situation. Participants varied in their approaches to fee setting, in terms of both their degree of flexibility when negotiating a price and whether they preferred to suggest a fee or have the client first state an amount they were willing to pay. • Human papillomavirus (HPV) seropositivity and anogenital HPV deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA)-positivity are common among young men who have sex with men (MSM). • Receptive anal intercourse (RAI) increases HPV seroprevalence and anal prevalence. • MSM with RAI generally have higher median HPV antibody titers. • Anal HPV might be more likely to lead to seroconversion than penile HPV for MSM. This study aimed to assess associations of potential risk factors with human papillomavirus (HPV) seropositivity among men who have sex with men (MSM) and compare these to risk factors for anal and penile (HPV) deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA)-positivity in the same study population. Seropositivity and anal and penile HPV DNA-positivity were determined for seven high-risk HPV genotypes for MSM aged 16-24 years participating in Papillomavirus Surveillance among STI clinic Youngsters in the Netherlands (PASSYON) 2009-2021. Logistic regression models were conducted to assess risk factors for seropositivity, anal and penile HPV DNA-positivity. Overall, 1019 MSM were included. HPV-16 and -18 were most common for serology, and anal and penile HPV DNA-positivity. Although no clear similarities were observed for most risk factors for HPV seropositivity and anal or penile DNA positivity, receptive anal intercourse (RAI) was the strongest associated risk factor for both seropositivity ('RAI ever' adjusted odds ratio [aOR] 3.50, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.56-7.88; 'RAI previous 6 months' aOR 2.17, 95% CI 1.44-3.26) and anal DNA-positivity ('RAI previous 6 months' aOR 1.67, 95% CI 1.09-2.56). Our study is suggestive of site-specific immune response after HPV infection; RAI might lead to anal HPV infections and consequently to seroconversion. Men who have sex with men (MSM) account for the majority of new HIV diagnoses in the United States, including in rural areas, and MSM in rural areas face additional barriers to accessing culturally competent and appropriate HIV/STI preventive care. Multiple methods have been used to classify areas in the United States as rural, but none of these methods is specifically designed to classify areas with respect to access to culturally competent care for MSM. Using data from a large, cross-sectional study of MSM we assessed the effect of using three different methods for classifying rurality on measurements of sexual behavior and HIV/STI testing uptake. We found that the prevalence of condomless anal sex and PrEP eligibility was similar across levels of rurality regardless of the method of classification used. Across all measures of rurality, rural MSM were less likely to have tested for HIV and STIs than non-rural MSM. The disparity in HIV/STI testing persisted even in the most inclusive measure of rurality used, indicating that HIV/STI prevention studies should consider using an inclusive approach to identifying and defining rurality. Objective: To assess frequency and predictors of switching between being on and off PrEP and being lost to follow‐up (LTFU) among men who have sex with men (MSM) and transgender women (TGW) with access to PrEP services in Sub‐Saharan Africa. Methods: This was a prospective cohort study of MSM and TGW from coastal Kenya who initiated daily oral PrEP from June 2017 to June 2019. Participants were followed monthly for HIV‐1 testing, PrEP refill, risk assessment and risk reduction counselling. Follow‐up was censored at the last visit before 30 June 2019, or the last HIV‐1‐negative visit (for those with HIV‐1 seroconversion), whichever occurred first. We estimated transition intensities (TI) and predictors of switching: (i) between being off and on PrEP; and (ii) from either PrEP state and being LTFU (i.e. not returning to the clinic for > 90 days) using a multi‐state Markov model. Results: In all, 134 participants starting PrEP were followed for a median of 20.3 months [interquartile range (IQR): 7.7–22.1]. A total of 49 (36.6%) people stopped PrEP 73 times [TI = 0.6/person‐year (PY), 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.5–0.7] and, of these, 25 (51.0%) restarted PrEP 38 times (TI = 1.2/PY, 95% CI: 0.9–1.7). In multivariable analysis, stopping PrEP was related to anal sex ≤ 3 months, substance‐use disorder and travelling. Restarting PrEP was related to non‐Christian or non‐Muslim religion and travelling. A total of 54 participants were LTFU: on PrEP (n = 47, TI = 0.3/PY, 95% CI: 0.3–0.5) and off PrEP (n = 7, TI = 0.2/PY, 95% CI: 0.1–0.4). In multivariable analysis, becoming LTFU while on PrEP was associated with secondary education or higher, living in the area for ≤ 1 year, residence outside the immediate clinic area and alcohol‐use disorder. Conclusions: Switching between being on and off PrEP or becoming LTFU while on PrEP was frequent among individuals at risk of HIV‐1 acquisition. Alternative PrEP options (e.g. event‐driven PrEP) may need to be considered for MSM and TGW with PrEP‐taking challenges, while improved engagement with care is needed for all MSM and TGW regardless of PrEP regimen. We examined PrEP use, condomless anal sex (CAS), and PrEP adherence among men who have sex with men (MSM) attending sexual health clinics in Wales, UK. In addition, we explored the association between the introduction of measures to control transmission of SARS-CoV-2 on these outcomes. We conducted an ecological momentary assessment study of individuals in receipt of PrEP in Wales. Participants used an electronic medication cap to record PrEP use and completed weekly sexual behaviour surveys. We defined adherence to daily PrEP as the percentage of CAS episodes covered by daily PrEP (preceded by ≥ 3 days of PrEP and followed by ≥ 2 days). Sixty participants were recruited between September 2019 and January 2020. PrEP use data prior to the introduction of control measures were available over 5785 person-days (88%) and following their introduction 7537 person-days (80%). Data on CAS episodes were available for 5559 (85%) and 7354 (78%) person-days prior to and following control measures respectively. Prior to the introduction of control measures, PrEP was taken on 3791/5785 (66%) days, there were CAS episodes on 506/5559 (9%) days, and 207/406 (51%) of CAS episodes were covered by an adequate amount of daily PrEP. The introduction of pandemic-related control measures was associated with a reduction in PrEP use (OR 0.44, 95%CI 0.20–0.95), CAS (OR 0.35, 95%CI 0.17–0.69), and PrEP adherence (RR = 0.55, 95%CI 0.34–0.89) and this may have implications for the health and wellbeing of PrEP users and, in addition to disruption across sexual health services, may contribute to wider threats across the HIV prevention cascade. Introduction: Previous surveys of male sex workers (MSW) in sub-Saharan Africa have not fully documented the HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) rates and vulnerabilities by age category. Methods: The bio-behavioral survey of MSW in Nairobi, Kenya, utilized respondentdriven sampling to recruit MSW. Structured interviews captured MSW's behavioral aspects, and biological tests for HIV and other STIs. Results: Analysis of the two age categories, 18-24 years (younger MSW) and 25 years and above (older MSW), shows that of all participants, a significantly higher proportion of younger MSW (59.6% crude, 69.6% RDS-adjusted) were recruited compared to older MSW (40.4% crude, 30.4% RDS-adjusted, P < 0.001). Young male sex workers were more likely to report multiple sexual partnerships in the last 12 months and had multiple receptive anal intercourses (RAI) acts in the last 30 days than older MSW: 0-2 RAI acts (20.6 vs. 8.6%, P = 0.0300), 3-5 RAI acts (26.3 vs. 11.5, P < 0.001), and >5 RAI acts (26.3 vs. 11.5%, P < 0.01). Furthermore, younger MSW were significantly more likely to have 3-5 insertive anal intercourse (IAI) with a regular male sex partner in the last 30 days than older MSW (24.3 vs. 8.0%, P < 0.01). Younger MSW were also more likely to report other STIs [28.5%(95%CI: 19.1-40.4%)] than older MSW[19.0%(95%CI: 7.7-29.2%)]. However, older MSWs were more likely to be infected with HIV than younger MSW (32.3 vs. 9.9 %, P < 0.01). Conclusions: Owing to the high risk sexual behaviors, HIV and STIs risks among younger and older MSW, intensified and targeted efforts are needed on risk reduction campaigns and expanded access to services. Objectives: Accumulating evidence suggests that there may be differences in sexual behaviors, condom use, and HIV prevention service utilization (e.g., HIV testing, PrEP use) between gay and bisexual men, but this remains under-explored, especially among gay and bisexual men in China. Methods: We surveyed 4,142 gay and bisexual men on a geosocial networking app in China. Results: In adjusted model, bisexual men were less likely to have received HIV testing in their lifetime (AOR =.62, 95% CI [.53,.72]) or to have received a recent HIV test (AOR =.78, 95% CI [.68,.90]). Conversely, among those who reported having had anal sex in the past six months, bisexual men were more likely to report consistent condom use than gay men (OR = 1.38, 95% CI [1.17, 1.62]). Compared with gay men, bisexual men were significantly less likely to be aware of PrEP (AOR =.62, 95% CI [.52,.74]) and significantly less willing to use PrEP (AOR =.58, 95% CI [.46,.73]). Conclusions: Tailored HIV prevention interventions are needed to address bisexual men's needs in the context of the unique sociocultural influences on sexual behavior in China. Men who have sex with men (MSM) in Thailand have high HIV prevalence. This analysis used three years of data from the Behavioral Surveillance Survey (BSS) to examine the behaviors and biomedical interventions among MSM in Bangkok. Percent MSM with an HIV or STI test in the past 12 months decreased from 50.8% to 29.8%, and 42.2% to 33.0%, respectively. The frequency of HIV/STI testing was higher among those who had university-level education, as well as among those who reported higher AIDS knowledge, and had utilized prevention services. Additionally, awareness of PrEP peaked in 2017 (74.1%). The study found an increasing trend of men who had sex without a condom the last time they had anal sex with a man, and/or with multiple partners. Nearly two-thirds of the sample were reached by HIV prevention interventions. One-third had correct AIDS knowledge. These findings suggest that, after an increase of sex behavior risk, a decrease in PrEP awareness, and unknown HIV status, HIV prevalence among MSM in Bangkok may have begun to increase again.
