The study was to improve the methanogenic performance of corn straw and reduce the scum layer in the anaerobic fermentation process to a certain extent. In the experiment, the corn straw was pretreated with bioenhanced hydrolysis. Based on the single factor experiment, Box Behnken design method was used to investigate the effect of the amount of biological agents, hydrolysis temperature and hydrolysis time on concentration of reducing sugar, and anaerobic fermentation was carried out under the optimal hydrolysis conditions. The results showed that the concentration of reducing sugar in corn straw was the highest when the amount of mixed bacteria of 6%, the hydrolysis temperature of 30 ℃ and the hydrolysis time of 8 h. After 30 d of anaerobic fermentation, the maximum cumulative methane production was 227 mL/g VS, which was 77.3% higher than that of control group. Compared with control group, the reduction of scum layer volume ratio of the bio-enhanced pretreatment straw fermentation was 19.0%. The study indicates that bioenhanced hydrolysis of corn straw can improve the characteristics of anaerobic fermentation and reduce the formation of scum layer. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
