In order to improve the autonomy and intelligence of group animation behavior, this paper proposes a particle swarm optimization algorithm for automatic control of group animation behavior. After the user inputs the group animation behavior construction target, the individual path is planned according to the fixed behavior rules, and the particle swarm optimization algorithm and the improved artificial fish swarm optimization algorithm are used to select the optimal action for the individual in the group animation according to the top-down control process. The experimental results show that after the PSO converges to the global optimal solution, the evolution times of the PSO converge to the global optimal solution again when the surrounding environment changes 10 times. The population diversity of particle swarm optimization algorithm is obviously better than those of the other two algorithms in the process of automatically controlling the movement of individuals to the circle and to the stand in the crowd animation. Compared with the original algorithm AFSA, the improved artificial fish swarm algorithm proposed in this paper is easier to obtain the global optimal value, and the optimization speed is also improved. As is well known that the global optimization ability of the Fruit fly Optimization Algorithm (FOA)is weak because it is easy to fall into local optimum. In this paper, a Fruit Fly Optimization Algorithm based on Locality Sensitive Hashing-aware (LSHFOA)was proposed. The locality sensitive hashing mechanism to optimize the generation mechanism for swarm population individuals was used, which can improve the individual diversity of the population. Meanwhile, when the fruit fly population falls into the local optimum, the locality sensitive hashing mechanism was adopted to change the population location, which is used for jumping out of local optimal limits. To verify the performance of LSHFOA, it was compared with FOA and its improvement algorithms CFOA, and IFFO with 8 representative benchmark functions. A large number of experimental results showed that LSHFOA has a faster convergence speed and higher precision of optimization for function optimization, especially in high-dimensional multi-peak functions. In addition to the theoretical evaluation, we also evaluate its performance in a real-world scenario. Generally, an edge computing environment, as an extension of cloud computing, can allow the users to access the network in a low-latency manner. In this way, to capture the high-speed convergence advantage, this paper makes the first attempt to tackle a classic research problem in the edge computing environment, i.e., the edge server placement problem. With the gradual emergence of customized manufacturing, intelligent manufacturing systems have experienced widespread adoption, leading to a surge in research interests in the associated problem of intelligent scheduling. In this paper, we study the flexible job shop scheduling problem (FJSP) with setup time, handling time, and processing time in a multi-equipment work center production environment oriented toward smart manufacturing and make-to-order requirements. A mathematical model with the optimization objectives of minimizing the maximum completion time, the total number of machine adjustments, the total number of workpieces handled and the total load of the machine is constructed, and an improved discrete particle swarm algorithm based on Pareto optimization and a nonlinear adaptive inertia weighting strategy is proposed to solve the model. By integrating the model characteristics and algorithm features, a hybrid initialization method is designed to generate a higher-quality initialized population. Next, three cross-variance operators are used to implement particle position updates to maintain information sharing among particles. Then, the performance effectiveness of this algorithm is verified by testing and analyzing 15 FJSP test instances. Finally, the feasibility and effectiveness of the designed algorithm for solving multi-objective FJSPs are verified by designing an FJSP test example that includes processing time, setup time and handling time. In order to improve the effect of agricultural machinery task scheduling, this paper starts from the perspective of multiobjective optimization to achieve task scheduling based on multiobjective particle swarm optimization algorithm. The position of each particle is a combination of resource options for each construction activity, and the displacement range and speed range of the particles are determined. Moreover, this paper uses the method of introducing an external storage library to store the current noninferior solutions and uses the adaptive grid method and the roulette selection method to select the global optimal solution of the particles. In addition, this paper proposes a task scheduling algorithm suitable for modern agricultural machinery based on the actual needs of current agricultural machinery task scheduling. This paper presents an improved arithmetic optimization algorithm that incorporates hybrid elite pool strategies to address the limitations of the arithmetic optimization algorithm (AOA). In AOA, the linear mathematical optimization acceleration (MOA) function cannot balance global exploitation and local exploration well. Therefore, the accuracy and convergence speed of the algorithm cannot be guaranteed. To improve the performance of AOA, this paper reconstructed a nonlinear MOA function, which is expected to balance the exploitation and the exploration of AOA. Furthermore, four hybrid elite pool strategies are integrated to enhance the ability to escape local optima. The proposed algorithm inherits the fast convergence of AOA and develops the performance of escaping local optima. Numerical experiment results on benchmark functions and engineering problems show that the proposed algorithm outperforms other compared meta-heuristic algorithms in terms of convergence speed and accuracy. This paper is concerned with the design of a dual-loop control system for permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). An improved linear extended state observer (LESO) with excellent estimation capability is employed to develop an improved linear active disturbance rejection control (LADRC) suitable for PMSM speed regulation, achieving outstanding disturbance suppression in PMSM speed control. The use of an internal model control scheme to initialize the parameters of the proportional-integral- (PI-) based current controller simplifies the search space of the control system parameter optimization. An improved particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is applied to optimize the controller parameters, thereby enhancing the overall system performance. This paper presents an optimization method for selective harmonic elimination in a cascaded multilevel inverter (MLI) using teaching-learning based optimization (TLBO). The main objective in selective harmonic elimination (SHE) strategy is to eliminate low-order harmonics by solving nonlinear equations and reaching optimal solution, while the fundamental component is satisfied. In this paper, different optimization methods are compared. In this paper, the TLBO as a recently emerged nature-inspired algorithm is presented to provide better results for the SHE in comparison with Genetic algorithm (GA), Particle swarm optimization (PSO), Newton Raphson Method (NR) and Satin Bowerbird algorithm (SBO). For better comparison of those methods and influence of optimal DC source a 7-level inverter is chosen and MATLAB/Simulink software is used for optimization. Bat algorithm is an effective swarm intelligence optimization algorithm which is widely used to solve continuous optimization problems. But it still has some limitations in search process and can't solve discrete optimization problems directly. Therefore, this paper introduces an unordered pair and proposes an unordered pair bat algorithm (UPBA) to make it more suitable for solving symmetric discrete traveling salesman problems. To verify the effectiveness of this method, the algorithm has been tested on 23 symmetric benchmarks and compared its performance with other algorithms. The main objective of this paper is to present a new 2-stage hybrid optimization algorithm based scheme named PSO-BHA for image enhancement. A parameterized mapping function and a novel objective function are utilized in this paper to achieve the best-enhanced images. The suggested scheme combines the merits of particle swarm optimization (PSO) with the black hole algorithm (BHA) in two sequential stages to find the best parameters for the mapping function with the aid of the proposed objective function. The objective function uses contrast, edge, entropy, and universal quality index (UQI) for measuring contrast, and different improved information in the enhanced image. In the proposed scheme, PSO is applied first to adjust the tunable parameters of the mapping function and as a result, new pixel intensities are produced. Then, in the second stage, the obtained pixel intensities are again passed through the mapping function whose parameters are tuned by the use of the BHA. The suggested framework overcomes the limitations of the traditional histogram equalization (HE) based enhancement techniques in which excessive contrast enhancement and image information loss can occur. The suggested method is evaluated on several test images and compared with different state-of-the-art methods. The results indicate that the proposed framework provides superior performance to all existing methods in terms of various metrics. The main objective of this paper is to present an improved neural network algorithm (INNA) for solving the reliability-redundancy allocation problem (RRAP) with nonlinear resource constraints. In this RRAP, both the component reliability and the redundancy allocation are to be considered simultaneously. Neural network algorithm (NNA) is one of the newest and efficient swarm optimization algorithms having a strong global search ability that is very adequate in solving different kinds of complex optimization problems. Despite its efficiency, NNA experiences poor exploitation, which causes slow convergence and also restricts its practical application of solving optimization problems. Considering this deficiency and to obtain a better balance between exploration and exploitation, searching procedure for NNA is reconstructed by implementing a new logarithmic spiral search operator and the searching strategy of the learner phase of teaching–learning-based optimization (TLBO) and an improved NNA has been developed in this paper. To demonstrate the performance of INNA, it is evaluated against seven well-known reliability optimization problems and finally compared with other existing meta-heuristics algorithms. Additionally, the INNA results are statistically investigated with the Wilcoxon sign-rank test and Multiple comparison test to show the significance of the results. A novel method for economic load dispatch problem (ELDP) based on improved whale optimization algorithm(IWOA) is presented, and the optimization performance of IWOA in ELDP was evaluated comprehensively. The search mechanism is modified to improve the ability of the algorithm to jump out of the local optimal. The adaptive nonlinear inertia weight is introduced to improve the convergence speed of the algorithm. A limited mutation mechanism is proposed to improve the convergence of the algorithm. The evaluation indicator of calculation time and calculation accuracy was established. Taking 26 units of the Three Gorges Hydropower Station as an example, limited adaptive genetic aigorithm (LAGA), particle swarm optimization (PSO), whale optimization algorithm (WOA) and improved whale optimization algorithm (IWOA) were used to solve ELDP. The result shows that IWOA is superior to other algorithms in calculation results of various heads and loads. The calculation accuracy of IWOA was better than WOA when the number of units turned on was more than 6. The analysis results of IWOA and DP show that the calculation time of IWOA is better than that of DP when the number of units turned on is more than 6. Ineffective protein feature representation poses problems in protein classification in hierarchical structures. Discrete wavelet transform (DWT) is a feature representation method which generates global and local features based on different wavelet families and decomposition levels. To represent protein sequences, the proper wavelet family and decomposition level must be selected. This paper proposed a hybrid optimization method using particle swarm optimization and the firefly algorithm (FAPSO) to choose the suitable wavelet family and decomposition level of wavelet transformation for protein feature representation. The suggested approach improved on the work of earlier researchers who, in most cases, manually selected the wavelet family and level of decomposition based solely on experience and not on data. The paper also applied the virtual class methods to overcome the error propagation problems in hierarchical classification. The effectiveness of the proposed method was tested on a G-Protein Coupled Receptor (GPCR) protein data set consisting of 5 classes at the family level, 38 classes at the subfamily level, and 87 classes at the sub-subfamily level. Based on the result obtained, the most selected wavelet family and decomposition level chosen to represent GPCR classes by FAPSO are Biorthogonal wavelets and decomposition level 1, respectively. The experimental results show that the representation of GPCR protein using the FAPSO algorithm with virtual classes can yield 97.9%, 86.9%, and 81.3% classification accuracy at the family, subfamily, and sub-subfamily levels, respectively. In conclusion, the result shows that the selection of optimized wavelet family and decomposition level by the FAPSO algorithm, and the virtual class method can be potentially used as the feature representation method and a hierarchical classification method for GPCR protein. This paper investigates the dynamic access point (AP) clustering and precoding problem in the downlink of user-centric virtual cell networks. The goal is to maximize the weighted sum spectral efficiency (SE) while satisfying the power constraints and AP clustering constraints in adjacent time slots (TSs). By adopting the random walk mobility to model the mobile user equipments’ movement behaviors, we consider dynamic and time-varying channel conditions. Therefore, the weighted sum SE maximization programming takes the form of discrete-time sequence of mixed-integer non-convex optimization problems. In this paper, we propose to solve this sequential problem in two stages. In the first stage, a dynamic AP clustering approach based on discrete particle swarm optimization is developed. This approach takes the advantage of the channel correlation by exploiting the relationship between AP clustering solutions in adjacent TSs to improve the SE performance and reduce complexity. In the second stage, given the AP clustering solution obtained in the first stage, a distributed precoding algorithm is devised via applying the weighted minimum mean square error method. By combining these two stages, we propose a novel dynamic AP clustering and precoding algorithm (DAPC-Pre). The effectiveness of the proposed DAPC-Pre algorithm is verified by the simulation results. Summary: Automatic generation control (AGC) plays a crucial role in modern power system to control the frequency with change in power demand. A novel fractional order (FO) hybrid PID‐fuzzy‐PID (FO‐hPID‐FPID) controller is proposed in this paper as the secondary controller for AGC of a three unequal area interconnected nonlinear reheat thermal power system considering generation rate constraint. This paper also deals with the implementation of FO fuzzy PID (FOFPID) and FO PID (FOPID) controllers in addition to the proposed controller along with their counterpart integer order controllers to establish the dominance of FO controllers over integer order controllers. Various parameters of the controllers are optimized by hybridizing two global optimization techniques: particle swarm optimization and modified sine cosine algorithm (MSCA) and the optimization techniques so obtained is called as hybrid PSO‐MSCA (hPSO‐MSCA) technique. A step load perturbation of 0.01 p.u. is injected in area‐1, and the system response is investigated independently with different controllers. It is revealed that the proposed FO‐hPID‐FPID delivers superior performance than the other controllers. Sensitivity analysis for parametric variations is carried out, and random load test is performed to validate the robustness of the proposed controller. Further, it is observed that the controllers deliver result in an ascending order of control performance as PID, FOPID, FPID, FOFPID, hPID‐FPID and FO‐hPID‐FPID controllers with FO‐hPID‐FPID controller delivering the best result and the FO controllers deliver better control performance than their integer order counterparts. In view of the slow convergence speed of traditional particle swarm optimization algorithms, which makes it easy to fall into local optimum, this paper proposes an OTSU multi-threshold image segmentation based on an improved particle swarm optimization algorithm. After the particle swarm completes the iterative update speed and position, the method of calculating particle contribution degree is used to obtain the approximate position and direction, which reduces the scope of particle search. At the same time, the asynchronous monotone increasing social learning factor and the asynchronous monotone decreasing individual learning factor are used to balance global and local search. Finally, chaos optimization is introduced to increase the diversity of the population to achieve OTSU multi-threshold image segmentation based on improved particle swarm optimization (IPSO). Twelve benchmark functions are selected to test the performance of the algorithm and are compared with the traditional meta-heuristic algorithm. The results show the robustness and superiority of the algorithm. The standard dataset images are used for multi-threshold image segmentation experiments, and some traditional meta-heuristic algorithms are selected to compare the calculation efficiency, peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR), structural similarity (SSIM), feature similarity (FSIM), and fitness value (FITNESS). The results show that the running time of this paper is 30% faster than other algorithms in general, and the accuracy is also better than other algorithms. Golden jackal optimization (GJO) is an effective metaheuristic algorithm that imitates the cooperative hunting behavior of the golden jackal. However, since the update of the prey's position often depends on the male golden jackal and there is insufficient diversity of golden jackals in some cases, it is prone to falling into a local optimal optimum. In order to address these drawbacks of GJO, this paper proposes an improved algorithm, called a hybrid GJO and golden sine (S) algorithm (Gold-SA) with dynamic lens-imaging (L) learning (LSGJO). First, this paper proposes novel dual golden spiral update rules inspired by Gold-SA. These rules give GJO the ability to think like a human (Gold-SA), making the golden jackal more intelligent in the process of preying, and improving the ability and efficiency of optimization. Second, a novel nonlinear dynamic decreasing scaling factor is introduced into the lens-imaging learning operator to maintain the population diversity. The performance of LSGJO is verified through 23 classical benchmark functions and 3 complex design problems in real scenarios. The experimental results show that LSGJO converges faster and more accurately than 11 state-of-the-art optimization algorithms, the global and local search ability has improved significantly, and the proposed algorithm has shown superior performance in solving constrained problems. A key area of wireless communications is visible light communication which uses solid-state light-emitting-diode. This paper shows, a comparative study to optimize the received signal strength indication (RSSI) in the optical wireless link between two optimization algorithms. The optimization algorithm we used in the paper is a genetic algorithm (GA) and a particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. To, compute the maximum RSSI over the non-line-of-sight (NLOS) link, within an indoor environment, and to find the optimum NLOS route through distinct angles to achieve better communication quality, we have used those algorithms. Simulations were performed at matlab to check the feasibility of the scheme proposed. Also, we have compared the efficiency of the both system. In addition, GA and PSO detect the maximum RSSI of the receiver (Rx) in a specific direction instead of calculating RSSI at any random angle. The simulation result shows that the proposed system precisely detects the direction that provides an optimal RSSI for the Rx. This paper concludes that the GA is computationally effective while compared with PSO. After several iterations, the result estimates that the average elapsed time of the GA is 0.21 ms and the PSO is 30 ms, respectively. Due to the characteristics of time-varying traffic and nonlinearity, the short-term traffic flow data are difficult to predict accurately. The purpose of this paper is to improve the short-term traffic flow prediction accuracy through the proposed improved wavelet neural network prediction model and provide basic data and decision support for the intelligent traffic management system. In view of the extremely strong nonlinear processing power, self-organization, self-adaptation and learning ability of wavelet neural network (WNN), this paper uses it as the basic prediction model and uses the particle swarm optimization algorithm for the slow convergence rate and local optimal problem of WNN prediction algorithm. With the advantages of fast convergence, high robustness and strong global search ability, an improved particle swarm optimization algorithm is proposed to optimize the wavelet neural network prediction model. The improved wavelet neural network is used to predict short-term traffic flow. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is more efficient than the WNN and PSO–WNN algorithms alone. Recently, Drones and UAV research were becoming one of the interest topics for academia and industry, where it has been extensively addressed in the literature back the few years. Path planning of drones in an area with complex terrain or unknown environment and restricted by some obstacles is one of the most problems facing the operation of drones. The problem of path planning is not only limited to searching for an appropriate path from the starting point to the destination but also related to how to choose an ideal path among all available paths and provide a mechanism for collision avoidance. By considering how to construct the best path, several related issues need to be taken into account, that relate to safety, obstacle avoidance, response speed to overtake obstacles, etc. Swarm optimization algorithms have been used to provide intelligent modeling for drone path planning and enable to build the best path for each drone. This is done according to the planning and coordination dimensions among the swarm members. In this paper, we have discussed the features and characteristics of different swarm optimization algorithms such as ant colony optimization (ACO), fruit fly optimization algorithm (FOA), artificial bee colony (ABC), and particle swarm optimization (PSO). In addition, the paper provides a comprehensive summary related to the most important studies on drone path planning algorithms. We focused on analyzing the impact of the swarm algorithm and its performance in drone path planning. For that, the paper presented one of the most used algorithms and its models employed to improve the trajectory of drones that rely on swarm intelligence and its impact on the optimal path cost of drones. The results of performance analysis for the ACO algorithm in a 3D and 2D-dimensional environment are illustrated and discussed, and then the performance evaluation of the ACO is compared to the enhanced ACO algorithm. As a result of the widespread adoption of hovercraft systems, the path finding of such systems has become an essential rule for locating the target with the shortest distance and avoiding collision between the starting point and the target locations. The purpose of this paper is to develop a method for path finding by proposing a hybrid method of intelligent optimization techniques, including two stochastic approaches. The first one is called the Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) algorithm, and it aims to direct the hovercraft toward the target utilizing the behaviour of honey bees to reduce the path length required to reach the target. The second approach makes use of the Self Perception Particle Swarm Optimization (SP-PSO) algorithm, which is designed to improve particle swarm optimization in order to obtain a path that is more effective, smoother, and shorter for the hovercraft to travel in a complicated environment. The developed hybrid method is called the Artificial Bee Colony Self Perception Particle Swarm Optimization (ABC-SPPSO), which enhances the convergence speed and achieves a trade-off between exploration and exploitation in order to generate the shortest path while simultaneously avoiding collisions. The simulation results indicate that the performance of the proposed hybrid algorithm surpasses those of the original techniques. Moreover, the results demonstrate that the proposed hybrid algorithm outperforms the hybrid Firefly Algorithm Modified Chaotic Particle Swarm (HFAMCPSO) by (11.90%) in terms of distance and (56%) in terms of iterations. In addition, it outperforms the Quarter Orbit combined with the Particle Swarm Optimization (QOPSO) algorithm by (1.89%) in terms of distance and (16.66%) in terms of iterations. Furthermore, compared to the Rapid Random Tree Star Particle Swarm Optimization (RRT*PSO), the proposed method achieved enhancement of (0.82%) in terms of distance and (33.33%) in terms of iterations in providing the shortest path while avoiding collisions and reducing the trajectory tracking error to approximately zero. Assembly sequence planning is one of the key issues in DFA and computer-aided assembly process planning research for concurrent engineering. The purpose of this paper is to solve the problem of insufficient individual intelligence in evolutionary algorithms for assembly sequence planning, and a evolutionary algorithm for assembly sequence planning is designed. In this paper, the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is used to optimize the hybrid assembly sequence planning and assembly line balance problems. According to the assembly sequence problem, the number of assembly tool changes and the number of assembly orientation changes are transformed into the operation time of the assembly line. At the same time, the transportation of heavy parts in the assembly balance problem is considered. Then, by extracting the connection relationship and information of the parts, the disassembly method is used to inversely obtain the disassembly support matrix, and then, it is used to obtain the priority relationship diagram of the assembly operation tasks that indicate the order constraints of the job tasks on the assembly line. Aiming at the shortcoming that particle swarm optimization algorithm is easy to fall into local optimum, a various population strategy is adopted to shorten the evolution stagnation time, improve the evolution efficiency of particle swarm optimization algorithm, and enhance the optimization ability of the algorithm. Combined with the three evaluation indicators of assembly geometric feasibility, assembly process continuity, and assembly tool change times, a fitness function is constructed to achieve multi-objective optimization. Finally, experiments show that the multi-agent evolutionary algorithm is incorporated into the planning process to obtain an accurate solution through the various population strategy–particle swarm optimization algorithm, which proves the feasibility of the compound algorithm and has better performance in solving assembly sequence planning problems. The study of optimization methods for reliability-redundancy allocation problems is a constantly changing field. New algorithms are continually being designed on the basis of observations of nature, wildlife, and humanity. In this paper, we review eight major evolutionary algorithms that emulate the behavior of civilization, ants, bees, fishes, and birds (i.e., genetic algorithms, bee colony optimization, simulated annealing, particle swarm optimization, biogeography-based optimization, artificial immune system optimization, cuckoo algorithm and imperialist competitive algorithm). We evaluate the mathematical formulations and pseudo-codes of each algorithm and discuss how these apply to reliability-redundancy allocation problems. Results from a literature survey show the best results found for series, series-parallel, bridge, and applied case problems (e.g., over-speeding gas turbine benchmark). Review of literature from recent years indicates an extensive improvement in the algorithm reliability performance. However, this improvement has been difficult to achieve for high-reliability applications. The optimization of industrial processes is a critical task for leveraging profitability and sustainability. To ensure the selection of optimum process parameter levels in any industrial process, numerous metaheuristic algorithms have been proposed so far. However, many algorithms are either computationally too expensive or become trapped in the pit of local optima. To counter these challenges, in this paper, a hybrid metaheuristic called PSO-GSA is employed that works by combining the iterative improvement capability of particle swarm optimization (PSO) and gravitational search algorithm (GSA). A binary PSO is also fused with GSA to develop a BPSO-GSA algorithm. Both the hybrid algorithms i.e., PSO-GSA and BPSO-GSA, are compared against traditional algorithms, such as tabu search (TS), genetic algorithm (GA), differential evolution (DE), GSA and PSO algorithms. Moreover, another popular hybrid algorithm DE-GA is also used for comparison. Since earlier works have already studied the performance of these algorithms on mathematical benchmark functions, in this paper, two real-world-applicable independent case studies on biodiesel production are considered. Based on the extensive comparisons, significantly better solutions are observed in the PSO-GSA algorithm as compared to the traditional algorithms. Robust optimization over time is a new way to tackle dynamic optimization problems where the goal is to find solutions that remain acceptable over an extended period of time. The state-of-the-art methods in this domain try to identify robust solutions based on their future predicted fitness values. However, predicting future fitness values is difficult and error prone. In this paper, we propose a new framework based on a multipopulation method in which subpopulations are responsible for tracking peaks and also gathering characteristic information about them. When the quality of the current robust solution falls below the acceptance threshold, the algorithm chooses the next robust solution based on the collected information. We propose four different strategies to select the next solution. This paper explores the design of load frequency controller for a multi area (two area) autonomous hybrid power system in which Distributed Generation (DG) resources are integrated. A novel controller such as 2DOFPID controller is established as a secondary controller. The controller gains are to be tuned with most popular meta-heuristic swarm intelligent technique named as Salp swarm alogrithm. The smart teaching mode overcomes the shortcomings of traditional teaching online and offline, but there are certain deficiencies in the real-time feature extraction of teachers and students. In view of this, this study uses the particle swarm image recognition and deep learning technology to process the intelligent classroom video teaching image and extracts the classroom task features in real time and sends them to the teacher. In order to overcome the shortcomings of the premature convergence of the standard particle swarm optimization algorithm, an improved strategy for multiple particle swarm optimization algorithms is proposed. When the meta-heuristic algorithm solves the joint resource allocation problem of multi-beam satellites, the computational complexity increases and the algorithm is difficult to converge due to the time delay constraint and capacity constraint. This paper introduced a penalty mechanism in the objective function, and added a penalty value to the objective function of the invalid solution, so that the optimized solution adaptively satisfied these two constraints. Based on this, this paper proposed a joint resource allocation algorithm based on quantum-behaved particle swarm optimization. Simulation results show that the introduction of the penalty strategy solves the problem of difficulty in handling the delay constraint and capacity constraint when applying the meta-heuristic algorithm. Stochastic configuration network (SCN) is a mathematical model of incremental generation under a supervision mechanism, which has universal approximation property and advantages in data modeling. However, the efficiency of SCN is affected by some network parameters. An optimized searching algorithm for the input weights and biases is proposed in this paper. An optimization model with constraints is first established based on the convergence theory and inequality supervision mechanism of SCN; Then, a hybrid bat-particle swarm optimization algorithm (G-BAPSO) based on gradient information is proposed under the framework of PSO algorithm, which mainly uses gradient information and local adaptive adjustment mechanism characterized by pulse emission frequency to improve the searching ability. The algorithm optimizes the input weights and biases to improve the convergence rate of the network. Simulation results over some datasets demonstrate the feasibility and validity of the proposed algorithm. The training RMSE of G-BAPSO-SCN increased by 5.57 × 10 − 5 and 3.2 × 10 − 3 compared with that of SCN in the two regression experiments, and the recognition accuracy of G-BAPSO-SCN increased by 0.07% on average in the classification experiments. Because of the low accuracy in intrusion detection, a model of extreme learning machine based on the optimization of quantum beetle swarm algorithm is proposed. First of all, this paper proposes a quantum beetle swarm optimization algorithm, which introduces quantum mechanics and combines the advantages of beetle antennae search and particle swarm optimization. In this way, the individual can learn both their own experience and group experience, which enables the beetle to move purposefully and instructively, and improves the convergence performance of the algorithm. In extreme learning machine, it is more difficult to solve the problem in high-dimensional data. This paper proposed an improved extreme learning machine that uses the least squares QR algorithm to decompose the matrix, which can reduce the computational complexity of the traditional extreme learning machine. APTEEN is a typical routing protocol for wireless sensor networks, but when clustering, cluster heads are randomly selected, which makes it easy to select nodes with low residual energy as cluster heads, thus forming network holes. At the same time, in multi hop transmission, the cluster head near the sink node is overloaded due to forwarding a large amount of data. Aiming at these problems, this paper introduces PSO algorithm and proposes ADCH-EPE-APTEEN routing protocol. In order to make the particle swarm optimization algorithm more suitable for routing protocol, this paper first proposes DCA-PSO based on particle swarm optimization algorithm. DCA-PSO uses the classification adaptive change inertia weight for different states of particles in the optimization process. At the same time, dynamic learning factor is used to improve the influence of particle experience and other particle experience on convergence speed and to improve the optimization accuracy and speed of the algorithm. Secondly, when APTEEN routing protocol is networked, the cluster head is selected by DCA-PSO, in which the residual energy of nodes, the location of nodes, and the energy distribution around nodes are fully taken into consideration. Thirdly, considering the distance between nodes and the sink node, the residual energy and the energy distribution around nodes, a front area is set up in the cluster located in the upper half and the assistant cluster head is selected in the front area through the DCA-PSO algorithm. The simulation results show that the DCA-PSO algorithm can significantly improve the search speed and precision compared with the PSO algorithm. This paper discusses a new method and MP-SAPSO algorithm for addressing the issue of path planning based on the PSO algorithm by combining particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm with the simulated annealing (SA) algorithm and mutation particle and adjusting the parameters. The photovoltaic(PV) system's efficiency can be improved with the aid of effective solar PV cell modeling. However, flawed solar cell parameters affect PV cell modeling incorrectly. The manufacturers are usually not providing all the necessary data for the exact modeling of PV cells. It is therefore necessary to efficiently predict the parameters of the PV cell. The literature discusses various optimization algorithms, but the suboptimal outcomes are obtained by most of the algorithms due to their convergence toward local minima. This paper introduces a new stochastic optimization algorithm for the estimation of solar PV cell parameters. Therefore, for the evaluation of the solar cell, a new novel chaotic algorithm is introduced in this paper called the chaotic tunicate swarm algorithm (CTSA). The proposed algorithm has a new function called an outstanding mathematical model of adaptive weights to stimulate negative and positive inputs from the spreading wave in order to find the best way to connect food with an excellent exploitation tendency and exploratory ability. For the double‐diode model, the computation time of the chaotic variants (CTSA1‐1.1885, CTSA2‐1.2502, CTSA3‐1.2962, CTSA4‐1.1204, and CTSA5‐1.2214) is better than the rest of the compared algorithms (particle swarm optimization [PSO]‐17.4532, tunicate swarm algorithm (TSA)‐2.5278, Harris hawks optimization [HHO]‐10.8942, ant lion optimizer [ALO]‐15.0214, and atom search optimization [ASO]‐9.5214). For the triple‐diode model, the computation time of the chaotic variants (CTSA1‐1.2658, CTSA2‐1.3520, CTSA3‐1.3056, CTSA4‐1.2290, and CTSA5‐1.3859) is better than the rest of the compared algorithms (PSO‐18.5421, TSA‐3.2568, HHO‐9.8754, ALO‐13.5841, and ASO‐11.8412). In general, this paper focuses on finding the best configuration for PSO and GA, using the different migration blocks, as well as the different sets of the fuzzy systems rules. The performance of interpolation algorithm used in bi-dimensional empirical mode decomposition directly affects its popularization and application. Therefore, the research on interpolation algorithm is more reasonable, accurate and fast. So far, in the interpolation algorithm adopted by the bi-dimensional empirical mode decomposition, an adaptive interpolation algorithm can be proposed according to the image characteristics. In view of this, this paper proposes an image interpolation algorithm based on the particle swarm and fractal. Its procedure includes: to analyze the given image by using the fractal brown function, to pick up the feature quantity from the image, and then to operate the adaptive image interpolation in terms of the obtained feature quantity. The parameters involved in the interpolation process are optimized by particle swarm optimization algorithm, and the optimal parameters are obtained, which can solve the problem of low efficiency and low precision of interpolation algorithm used in bi-dimensional empirical mode decomposition. Nowadays, people choose to travel in their leisure time more frequently, but fixed predetermined tour routes can barely meet people's personalized preferences. The needs of tourists are diverse, largely personal, and possibly have multiple constraints. The traditional single-objective route planning algorithm struggles to effectively deal with such problems. In this paper, a novel multi-objective and multi-constraint tour route recommendation method is proposed. Firstly, ArcMap was used to model the actual road network. Then, we created a new interest label matching method and a utility function scoring method based on crowd sensing, and constructed a personalized multi-constraint interest model. We present a variable neighborhood search algorithm and a hybrid particle swarm genetic optimization algorithm for recommending Top-K routes. Finally, we conducted extensive experiments on public datasets. Compared with the ATP route recommendation method based on an improved ant colony algorithm, our proposed method is superior in route score, interest abundance, number of POIs, and running time. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are considered a promising example of an automatic emergency task in a dynamic marine environment. However, the maritime communication performance between UAVs and offshore platforms has become a severe challenge. Due to the complex marine environment, the task allocation and route planning efficiency of multiple UAVs in an intelligent ocean are not satisfactory. To address these challenges, this paper proposes an intelligent marine task allocation and route planning scheme for multiple UAVs based on improved particle swarm optimization combined with a genetic algorithm (GA-PSO). Based on the simulation of an intelligent marine control system, the traditional particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is improved by introducing partial matching crossover and secondary transposition mutation. The improved GA-PSO is used to solve the random task allocation problem of multiple UAVs and the two-dimensional route planning of a single UAV. The simulation results show that compared with the traditional scheme, the proposed scheme can significantly improve the task allocation efficiency, and the navigation path planned by the proposed scheme is also optimal. Dynamic weapon target assignment (DWTA) is an effective method to solve the multi-stage battlefield fire optimization problem, which can reflect the actual combat scenario better than static weapon target assignment (SWTA). In this paper, a meaningful and effective DWTA model is established, which contains two practical and conflicting objectives, namely, maximizing combat benefits and minimizing weapon costs. Moreover, the model contains limited resource constraints, feasibility constraints and fire transfer constraints. The existence of multi-objective and multi-constraint makes DWTA more complicated. To solve this problem, an improved multiobjective particle swarm optimization algorithm (IMOPSO) is proposed in this paper. Various learning strategies are adopted for the dominated and non-dominated solutions of the algorithm, so that the algorithm can learn and evolve in a targeted manner. In order to solve the problem that the algorithm is easy to fall into local optimum, this paper proposes a search strategy based on simulated binary crossover (SBX) and polynomial mutation (PM), which enables elitist information to be shared among external archive and enhances the exploratory capabilities of IMOPSO. In addition, a dynamic archive maintenance strategy is applied to improve the diversity of non-dominated solutions. Finally, this algorithm is compared with three state-of-the-art multiobjective optimization algorithms, including solving benchmark functions and DWTA model in this article. Experimental results show that IMOPSO has better convergence and distribution than the other three multiobjective optimization algorithms. Multi-objective particle swarm optimization algorithms encounter significant challenges when tackling many-objective optimization problems. This is mainly because of the imbalance between convergence and diversity that occurs when increasing the selection pressure. In this paper, a novel adaptive MOPSO (ANMPSO) algorithm based on R2 contribution and adaptive method is developed to improve the performance of MOPSO. First, a new global best solutions selection mechanism with R2 contribution is introduced to select leaders with better diversity and convergence. Second, to obtain a uniform distribution of particles, an adaptive method is used to guide the flight of particles. Third, a re-initialization strategy is proposed to prevent particles from trapping into local optima. Empirical studies on a large number (64 in total) of problem instances have demonstrated that ANMPSO performs well in terms of inverted generational distance and hyper-volume metrics. Many important computational applications in science, engineering, industry, and technology are represented by PSE (parameter sweep experiment) applications. These applications involve a large number of resource-intensive and independent computational tasks. Because of this, cloud autoscaling approaches have been proposed to execute PSE applications on public cloud environments that offer instances of different VM (virtual machine) types, under a pay-per-use scheme, to execute diverse applications. One of the most recent approaches is the autoscaler MOEA (multiobjective evolutive algorithm), which is based on the multiobjective evolutionary algorithm NSGA-II (nondominated sorting genetic algorithm II). MOEA considers on-demand and spot VM instances and three optimization objectives relevant for users: minimizing the computing time, monetary cost, and spot instance interruptions of the application's execution. However, MOEA's performance regarding these optimization objectives depends significantly on the optimization algorithm used. It has been shown recently that MOEA's performance improves considerably when NSGA-II is replaced by a more recent algorithm named NSGA-III. In this paper, we analyze the incorporation of other multiobjective optimization algorithms into MOEA to enhance the performance of this autoscaler. First, we consider three multiobjective optimization algorithms named E-NSGA-III (extreme NSGA-III), SMS-EMOA (S-metric selection evolutionary multiobjective optimization algorithm), and SMPSO (speed-constrained multiobjective particle swarm optimization), which have behavioral differences with NSGA-III. Then, we evaluate the performance of MOEA with each of these algorithms, considering the three optimization objectives, on four real-world PSE applications from the meteorology and molecular dynamics areas, considering different application sizes. To do that, we use the well-known CloudSim simulator and consider different VM types available in Amazon EC2. Finally, we analyze the obtained performance results, which show that MOEA with E-NSGA-III arises as the best alternative, reaching better and significant savings in terms of computing time (10%–17%), monetary cost (10%–40%), and spot instance interruptions (33%–100%). To improve the local mining and global search ability of quantum-behaved particle swarm optimization algorithm ( QPSO), this paper proposed an improved QPSO algorithm( DSQPSO). DSQPSO algorithm introduced the double strategies co-evolution to adjust the particle position update formula. Firstly, in order to fully reflect the advantage of individual exploration and the characteristic of collective guidance, this paper put forward two kinds of ideas of attraction points to achieve better integration of individuals and the swarm as well as information exchange. Secondly, it redefined the search scope of the particle through considering the relationship between the optimal average position and the global optimum and individual's historical optimum respectively. Moreover, in the iterative process, DSQPSO used the random perturbation mechanism to adjust the global optimal position in order to help the diversity of the swarm to be preserved. Based on 18 test functions, this paper compared DSQPSO with PSO, QPSO, RQPSO and LQPSO in convergence accuracy and robustness. Furthermore, in terms of the optimization results, it compared the improved algorithm with eight intelligent algorithms on two practical engineering optimization problems. While many studies of spatial sampling have focused on optimizing only one objective, in many real-life problems, more than one objective is required to be simultaneously optimized. Hence, using multi-objective optimization techniques in spatial sampling is considerably increasing. In this paper, two bi-objective optimization problems of soil sampling are investigated. The variance of the sample mean and the mean total error are the first objective function of the first and second spatial optimization problems, respectively. Furthermore, in both Problems, the total distance travelled between sample points is considered as the second objective function. To deal with these spatial optimization problems, a new hybrid algorithm of the archived multi-objective simulated annealing algorithm and the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm-II is developed and compared with well-known four multi-objective optimization algorithms, including the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm-II, the multi-objective particle swarm optimization algorithm, the multi-objective grey wolf optimizer algorithm, and the archived multi-objective simulated annealing algorithm. Indeed, the performance of the algorithms is assessed and compared using four performance metrics, i.e. spacing metric, mean ideal distance, diversification metric, and spread of non-dominance solution. The parameters of the algorithms are set by the Taguchi method. Moreover, the performance of the algorithms is ranked using a hybrid multi-attribute decision-making process called the AHP-TOPSIS method. The beetle antenna search algorithm (BAS) converges rapidly and runs in a short time, but it is prone to yielding values corresponding to local extrema when dealing with high-dimensional problems, and its optimization result is unstable. The artificial fish swarm algorithm (AFS) can achieve good convergence in the early stage, but it suffers from slow convergence speed and low optimization accuracy in the later stage. Therefore, this paper combines the two algorithms according to their respective characteristics and proposes a mutation and a multi-step detection strategy to improve the BAS algorithm and raise its optimization accuracy. To verify the performance of the hybrid composed of the AFS and BAS algorithms based on the Mutation and Multi-step detection Strategy (MMSBAS), AFS-MMSBAS is compared with AFS, the Multi-direction Detection Beetle Antenna Search (MDBAS) Algorithm, and the hybrid algorithm composed of the two (AFS-MDBAS). The experimental results show that, with respect to high-dimensional problems: (1) the AFS-MMSBAS algorithm is not only more stable than the MDBAS algorithm, but it is also faster in terms of convergence and operation than the AFS algorithm, and (2) it has a higher optimization capacity than the two algorithms and their hybrid algorithm. Internet of Things (IoT) networks are becoming increasingly popular for monitoring critical environments of various types. For the communication of IoT devices, several lightweight protocols have been developed. MQTT (message queuing telemetry transport) is a widely used messaging protocol in IoT using the publish–subscribe technique. The openness of publish–subscribe model and the limited built-in authentication capabilities makes it vulnerable to intruders. Hence, an intrusion detection system (IDS) has a vital role in MQTT-IoT security. This paper proposes an efficient intrusion detection mechanism for the MQTT-IoT networks using an enhanced chaotic salp swarm optimization algorithm (ECSSA) and LightGBM classifier. Traditional IDS uses a lot of irrelevant data and undesirable attributes, resulting in long detection times and low performance. To overcome the limitations, the proposed IDS uses ECSSA for feature selection and LightGBM classifier for better detection accuracy. The experimental verification on MC-IoT, MQTT-IoT-IDS2020, and MQTTset datasets demonstrates that ECSSA and LightGBM improve the overall accuracy rate. Power system congestion is a major problem that the system operator (SO) would face in the post-deregulated era. Therefore, investigation of techniques for congestion-free wheeling of power is of paramount interest. One of the most practiced and an obvious technique of congestion management is rescheduling the power outputs of generators in the system. However, all generators in the system need not take part in congestion management. Development of sound formulation and appropriate solution technique for this problem is aimed in this paper. Contributions made in the present paper are twofold. Firstly a technique for optimum selection of participating generators has been introduced using generator sensitivities to the power flow on congested lines. Secondly this paper proposes an algorithm based on particle swarm optimization (PSO) which minimizes the deviations of rescheduled values of generator power outputs from scheduled levels. The PSO algorithm, reported in this paper, handles the binding constraints by a technique different from the traditional penalty function method. Wireless powered communication network (WPCN) is a promising technique to resolve the power constraint issue faced by wireless nodes at the same time it also provides green and a safer solution. This paper studies, mutual sharing between WPCN and simultaneous wireless information and power transfer model where optimal resource allocation occurs between licensed/bandwidth group and an unlicensed/power group to enhance the system performance. The main aim of this paper is to maximize system weighted sum rate and minimize power consumption during transmission by optimal time allocation and energy beamforming vector allocation. These multiobjective combinatorial problems are solved using joint metaheuristic particle swarm optimization-cuckoo search algorithm to provide an optimal solution. The results are compared using a conventional mathematical optimization algorithm to set as a baseline for performance parameters. The obtained results demonstrate that the efficient joint metaheuristic approach provides a significant gain in the system performance and also offers a computationally less complex approach for solving a complicated non-convex multiobjective problem of wireless powered network.
