In this work, we design, analyze, and test the multiwavelets Galerkin method to solve the two‐dimensional Burgers equation. Using Crank–Nicolson scheme, time is discretized and a PDE is obtained for each time step. We use the multiwavelets Galerkin method for solving these PDEs. Multiwavelets Galerkin method reduces these PDEs to sparse systems of algebraic equations. The cost of this method is proportional to the number of nonzero coefficients at each time step. The results illustrate, by selecting the appropriate threshold while the number of nonzero coefficients reduces, the error will not be less than a certain amount. The L2 stability and convergence of the scheme have been investigated by the energy method. Illustrative examples are provided to verify the efficiency and applicability of the proposed method. The numerical simulation of the tumor-induced angiogenesis process is an useful tool for the prediction of this mechanism and drug targeting using anti-angiogenesis strategy. In the current paper, we study numerically on the continuous mathematical model of tumor-induced angiogenesis in two-dimensional spaces. The studied model is a system of nonlinear time-dependent partial differential equations, which describes the interactions between endothelial cell, tumor angiogenesis factor and fibronectin. We first derive the global weak form of the model and discretize the time variable via a semi-implicit backward Euler method. To approximate the spatial variables of the studied model, we use a meshless technique, namely element-free Galerkin. Also, the shape functions of moving least square and moving Kriging approximations are used in this method. The main difference between two meshless methods proposed here is that the shape functions of moving least squares approximation do not satisfy Kroncker's delta property, while moving Kriging technique satisfies this property. Also, both techniques do not require the generation of a mesh for approximation, but a background mesh is needed to compute the numerical integrations, which are appeared in the derived global weak form. The full-discrete scheme obtained here gives the linear system of algebraic equations that is solved via an iterative method, namely biconjugate gradient stabilized with zero-fill incomplete lower upper (ILU) preconditioner. Some numerical simulations are provided to illustrate the ability of the presented numerical methods, which show the endothelial cell migration in response to the tumor angiogenesis factors during angiogenesis process as well. The two-grid method is a technique to solve the linear system of algebraic equations for reducing the computational cost. In this study, the two-grid procedure has been combined with the EFG method for solving nonlinear partial differential equations. The two-grid FEM has been introduced in various forms. The well-known two-grid FEM is a three-step method that has been proposed by Bajpai and Nataraj (Comput. Math. Appl. 2014;68:2277-2291) that the new proposed scheme is an ecient procedure for solving important nonlinear partial differential equations such as Navier-Stokes equation. By applying shape functions of IMLS approximation in the EFG method, a new technique that is called interpolating EFG (IEFG) can be obtained. In the current investigation, we combine the two-grid algorithm with the IEFG method for solving the nonlinear Rosenau-regularized long-wave (RRLW) equation. In other hand, we demonstrate that solutions of steps 1, 2, and 3 exist and are unique and also we achieve an error estimate for them. Three inverse problems of reconstructing the time-dependent, spacewise- dependent and both initial condition and spacewise-dependent heat source in the one-dimensional heat equation are considered. These problems are reformulated by eliminating the unknown functions using some special assumptions concerning the points in space or time as additional measurements. Then direct techniques are proposed to solve the non-classical boundary value problems. For obtaining the robust and stable approximations, Bernstein multi-scaling and B-spline basis functions in the context of the Ritz–Galerkin method are utilized to immediate passage from differential equations to algebraic equations and afterwards, a Newton-type method is used to produce the admissible solution. The numerical convergence and stability are discussed in the test examples to show that the presented schemes provide accurate and acceptable approximations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
