Puparia of a new whitefly genus and species, Margaritaplena ovatagen. et sp. nov. found feeding on the underside of the leaves of Combretum sp. (Combretaceae) are described from the Andaman Islands, India. It differs from the allied genera, Asialeyrodes Corbett, Icfrealeyrodes Dubey and Sundararaj, and Vasantharajiella PMM David in shape, the large-sized geminate pores, and thoracic and caudal tracheal pores comprising microtubercles, and are inset from the margin, and also from Asialeyrodes in a complete submarginal furrow, and in lacking the first abdominal setae and caudal furrow. Line drawings, images for the habitus, types, and scanning electron microscope photomicrographs are provided for the new taxa. An identification key to puparia differentiating the new genus from related Indian Aleyrodinae genera is given. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
