Abstract

The author discusses how advances in treatment for gay men diagnosed with AIDS have led to increases in unprotected sex by gay men. She notes research that suggests gay men are more likely to have high numbers of sexual partners than heterosexual men and that anal sex increases the chances of AIDS transmission. She notes the low number of men who are tested for HIV in Great Britain and discusses the difficulties of promoting safe sex in the gay community.

Abstract

In this article the author discusses the need of evidence-based policy on injecting drug use. The author states that elected politicians do not care about scientific evidence when it comes to policies that benefit minorities like injecting drug users, and people who sell sex for living. She argues that preventing fatal infections in injecting drug users will prevent fatal infections, like HIV, among other people in the future and save future treatment costs.
