The aim of this paper is to unveil how age is represented through characters in the film La flor de mi secreto (PEDRO ALMODÓVAR, 1995). In particular, it examines the character of Leo Macías--and her literary alter ego, Amanda Gris--her sister Rosa, and their mother Jacinta The methodology is based on character analysis (CHATMAN, CASETTI AND DI CHIO, PÉREZ RUFI, GUARINOS) complemented by Seger's idea of conflict, applicable to the character of Leo Macías and a theoretical framework based on Feminist Film Theory (COLAIZZI, 2006), Queer Theory (DE LAURETIS, 1994) as well as studies on age studies in the audiovisual (ZURIAN, MENENDÉZ and GARCÍA-RAMOS, 2019). It is shown that La flor de mi secreto proposes a rupture with the established social patterns in the representation of female aging through the life expectations of characters in which Almodóvar self-represents and self-references.
