A population-based cohort study was conducted to evaluate the association between tetracycline-class antibiotic use in patients with acne and the risk of idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH). The study found that minocycline, a type of tetracycline-class antibiotic, was significantly associated with an increased risk of IIH compared to doxycycline and nonsystemic treatments. However, the study had limitations, such as the inability to control for external lifestyle factors and the potential for residual confounding.
