- Abstract
Skin complications of obesity. Obesity is associated with a number of skin lesions. It modifies the skin-acting hormones, temperature regulation, skin pressure, immunity and veno-lymphatic vascular systems. The acanthosis nigricans is the most common dermatologic manifestation. Obesity increases the incidence of fungal and bacterial skin infections (abscesses, erysipelas). Necrotizing fasciitis are rarer. Leg ulcers, lymphedema, hyperkeratosis of heel and stretch marks are more common in the obese subjects. Recent studies have shown in obese patients association or exacerbation of some diseases such as atopic dermatitis, psoriasis and suppurative hidradenitis. Weigth loss decrease improves skin lesions related to hyperinsulinism. However local or general treatments are often necessary., Competing Interests: Les auteurs déclarent n’avoir aucun lien d’intérêts.
