The research on Bus Fleet Management (BFM) has undergone significant changes. It is unclear whether these changes are accepted as technological change or as a paradigm shift. Perhaps unintentionally, BFM is still perceived as routing and scheduling by some, and by others as maintenance and replacement strategy. Therefore, the authors conducted a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to overview the existing concepts and school of thoughts about how stakeholders perceive the BFM. The SLR post-study exposed that BFM should be acknowledged as a multi-realm system rather than a uniform dimension of fulfilling timely service. Nonetheless, the work encapsulates BFM evolution which shows the need for the multi-realm research abstracted as "Bus Fleet Mobility Management" and "Bus Fleet Asset Management". The difficulties of transport agencies and their ability to switch from conventional to Zero-Emission Buses (ZEBs) illustrates why we propose such an agenda, by which the research is validated through needs both in academia and in practice.

Quality management should represent one of the most common approaches to improving quality and innovation performance. Still, it is shown that this is not always the case. To find the real cause of the contradictory results, a literature review was conducted. Some authors propose that knowledge management might present the missing link between quality management and innovation performance. Therefore, in this research, the importance of knowledge management will be considered, as a key mediator between quality management on innovation performance. Thus, this paper aims to provide answers to: “What does quality management need to provide, to support innovation performance?”, “How does knowledge management contribute to innovation performance?” and “How does knowledge management mediate the relationship between quality management and innovation performance?”. Knowledge management provides benefits for innovation performance, under certain organizational conditions and mechanisms. The lack of proper knowledge management among employees can be the cause of shortcomings in the relation between quality management and innovation performance.

The advent of innovation compelled scholars to go beyond personal ideological views towards sustainable issues, consequently losing the perspective of technological freedom. With that in mind, the polarised technological landscape in which industrial maintenance finds itself seems to exhibit more philosophical behaviour, as observed by the exponential rise of narrative reviews. Nevertheless, in the face of the industrial “Fourth Wave”, academicians who govern scientific advancement of maintenance, underpinned with Research and Innovation funds, seem to be disseminating excess scientific tutelage rather than productively altering maintenance, which provoked us to conduct a twofold analysis. Firstly, based on the Evidence-Based Approach (EBA), we systematically analyse maintenance-related EU projects. Secondly, to align with Green Deal EU targets by fostering decarbonisation of asset-intensive industries, we utilise the Preferred Reporting Items and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) framework for analysing energy-dedicated maintenance literature. The evidence suggests that ongoing research includes optimisation of maintenance activities for the sake of sustainability, on one side, while on the other, evidence suggests that energy consumption parameters can be considered as maintenance indicators used for diagnostic and prognostic feature selection purposes. Finally, results provide several insights: (1) absence of sustainability indicators in decision-making is a strong argument for the lack of maintenance impact in Industry 4.0, (2) manufacturing sector represents the first momentum of Energy-Based Maintenance evolution, and (3) gentrification and technology transfer activities will enable the smoother transition of sustainable maintenance practice.
