Abstract

International audience; This paper presents the activities of the theme C “medical information systems and databases” in the GDR Stic Santé. Six one-day workshops have been organized during the period 2011–2012. They were devoted to 1) sharing anatomical and physiological object models for simulation of clinical medical images, 2) advantages and limitations of datawarehouse for biological data, 3) medical information engineering, 4) systems for sharing medical images for research, 5) knowledge engineering for semantic interoperability in e-health applications, and 6) using context in health. In the future, our activities will continue with a specific interest on information systems for translational medicine and the role of electronic healthcare reports in decision-making. Workshops with other research groups will be organized in particular with the e-health research group.

Cette plate-forme offre les outils nécessaires au travail de synthèse sur le référencement des édifices religieux et sur leurs évolutions au cours des siècles à travers un modèle spatio-temporel spécifique. La connaissance des archéologues est modélisée par une ontologie. La plate-forme est basée sur une interface wiki associée à une base de données annotées et respecte les recommandations du Web Sémantique (RDF, OWL, SPARQL).

Abstract

International audience; Mobile and portable devices require the definition of new user interfaces (UI) capable of reducing the level of attention required by users to operate the applications they run to improve the calmness of them. To carry out this task, the next generation of UIs should be able to capture information from the context and act accordingly. This work defines an extension to the UsiXML methodology that specifies how the information on the user is modeled and used to customize the UI. The extension is defined vertically through the methodology, affecting all layers of the methodology. In the Tasks & Concepts layer, we define the user environment of the application, where roles and individuals are characterized to represent different user situations. In the Abstract UI layer, we relate groups of these individuals to abstract interaction objects. Thus, user situations are linked to the abstract model of the UI. In the Concrete UI layer, we specify how the information on the user is acquired and how it is related to the concrete components of the UI. This work also presents how to apply the proposed extensions to a case of study. Finally, it discusses the advantages of using this approach to model user-aware applications.

Abstract

International audience; Dependent people (especially the elderly) are nowadays surrounded by various health services, as well as by social and multi-technology monitoring devices. The PASPORD research project focuses on improving the management of processes involved in home care. These processes are known to be collaborative: their activities spread over different organizations, are carried out by diverse health or logistical actors. These activities must be coordinated by an integrated system, which is the purpose of the present project. However, the deployment of such a process takes place in a very dynamic and uncertain environment. In this paper, we seek to characterize and model this complex process. On the basis of its features, we define the principles of a system architecture to support the collaboration between the stakeholders and provide agility to overcome difficulties induced by its specificity.

Abstract

International audience; This communication aims to propose a two step interactive aiding system dealing with product configuration and production planning. The first step assists interactively and simultaneously the configuration of a product and the planning of its production process. Then a second step complete the two previous tasks thanks to a constrained multi-criteria optimisation that proposes to the user a set of solutions belonging to a Pareto front minimizing cost and cycle time. The first section of the paper introduces the problem. The second one proposes a solution for the first step relying on constraint filtering for both configuration and planning. The following ones propose an evolutionary optimisation process and first computation results.

Abstract

International audience; The ongoing OMG standard on the "Semantics of a Foundational Subset for Executable UML Models" identifies a subset of UML (called fUML, for Foundational UML), for which it defines a general-purpose execution model. This execution model therefore captures an executable semantics for fUML, providing an unambiguous basis for various kinds of model-based exploitations (model transformation, code generation, analysis, simulation, debugging etc.). This kind of facility is of great interest for the domain of real time systems, where analysis of system behavior is very sensible. One may therefore wonder if the general-purpose execution model of fUML can be used to reflect execution semantics concerns of real-time systems (e.g., concurrency, synchronization, and scheduling.). It would practically mean that it is possible to leverage on this precise semantic foundation (and all the work that its definition implied) to capture the precise execution semantics of real-time systems. In this paper, we show that this approach is not directly feasible, because of the way concurrency and asynchronous communications are actually handled in the fUML execution model. However, we show that introducing support for these aspects is technically feasible and reasonable in terms of effort and we propose lightweight modifications of the Execution model to illustrate our purpose.

Abstract

International audience; Computational science is placing new demands on distributed computing systems as the rate of data acquisition is far outpacing the improvements in processor speed. Evolutionary algorithms provide efficient means of optimizing the increasingly complex models required by different scientific projects, which can have very complex search spaces with many local minima. This work describes different validation strategies used by MilkyWay@Home, a volunteer computing project created to address the extreme computational demands of 3-dimensionally modeling the Milky Way galaxy, which currently consists of over 27,000 highly heterogeneous and volatile computing hosts, which provide a combined computing power of over 1.55 petaflops. The validation strategies presented form a foundation for efficiently validating evolutionary algorithms on unreliable or even partially malicious computing systems, and have significantly reduced the time taken to obtain good fits of MilkyWay@Home's astronomical models.

Abstract

International audience; We present the on-going research project ISIS (Interoperable Spatial Information Systems) which is a semantic mediation approach to support geographical spatial information systems interoperability. The diversity of spatial information systems (GIS) and data models has created a need for tools and methodologies to allow cooperation or interoperation among GIS. In particular, mediation based approaches, which aim at achieving autonomy, extensibility and flexibility of participant systems, will become increasingly popular in emerging WEB-based processing environments. The underlying approach of ISIS combines techniques from the domains of traditional interoperable information systems, spatial data modeling and multi-agents systems. In this paper we describe the Amun data model which provides a foundation for resolving semantic discrepancies among systems and for modeling cooperative GIS.

Abstract

International audience; In this paper we propose an efficient algorithm to implement parallel integer multiplication by a combination of parallel additions, shifts and reads from a memory-resident lookup table dedicated to squares. Such an operator called PIM (parallel integer multiplication) is in fact microprogrammed at the PROM level. Our theoretical approach is included within the framework of time and space parallel complexity theory. The mathematical relation used defines this multiplication operator in terms of a difference of two quadratic expressions, each being computed in parallel by one addition and one shift. This leads to the CPU time for any pair of numbers being constant. Our contribution is above all of practical interest on any massively parallel architecture in the field of scientific and numerical computing.
