This paper presents a broadband, simple, re-useable and low-cost approach for noninvasive sweat monitoring using a passive microwave circuit and a cellulose filter paper as a superstrate. The proposed sensor is composed of filter paper with the ability to absorb the sample liquid under test (LUT) placed on top of a coplanar waveguide (CPW) transmission line. Various samples of sodium chloride (NaCl) solutions with concentrations in the range of 0.01-2 mol/L and models of artificial sweat are used to test the proposed sensor. The difference in transmission coefficient (S21) between dry and wet states is used to determine the concentrations of tested solutions in the band of 1-6 GHz. The sensor detects concentrations as low as 0.01 mol/L (0.58 g/L) and quantities as low as 137 μL with a maximum sensitivity of 46.7 dB/g/L. The proposed sensor presents a simple approach to sample and characterize liquids with enhanced sensitivity and consistent performance using microwave signals.

This paper presents the design and analysis of a paper-based chipless RFID sensor for wetness content measurement in plant leaves. The sensor is designed using a passive microwave resonator to measure the ambient physical parameter. The resonator is designed with a rectangular loop inductively coupled with an interdigital capacitor. The experimental analysis of the designed sensor is illustrated here to prove its efficacy. The resonator provides adequate backscattered signal for wireless measurement in the microwave frequency band. When interrogated with a couple of UWB antennas and a VNA, it yields accurate leaf wetness response of the plant. The commercial competence of this sensing device is validated through its experimental analysis on three different types of leaf samples. This sensor is suitable for plant health monitoring in any small-scale gardening applications such as nurseries and greenhouses.

This paper presents a thorough review of transmitarray devices particularly aiming antenna beamsteering, gathering some of the most relevant solutions published by the scientific community in the field. First, the background for realizing 1-D and 2-D antenna beamsteering with a transmitarray is introduced. Subsequently, several examples of unit-cells for transmitarray implementation and complete transmitarray designs presented in the literature are outlined. Each solution is analyzed in detail, identifying the nature of its layout, e.g., based on microstrip patches, frequency selective surfaces (FSS), or metamaterials (MMs), and the method employed to enable electronic reconfigurability, e.g., p-i-n diodes, varactor diodes, or microelectromechanical systems (MEMS). In addition, some models with the capability of controlling the wavefront polarization modes are also included herein since these are the base of hybrid transmitarrays, i.e., transmitarray with both electronic beamsteering and polarization control. Finally, all the models are compared against each other in order to highlight their benefits and limitations, summarizing their main characteristics, such as the frequency of operation and bandwidth, insertion loss, physical dimensions, and maximum beamsteering range, when available.

We present the possibilities and challenges of passive UHF RFID tag antennas manufactured by inkjet printing silver nanoparticle ink on versatile paper-based substrates. The most efficient manufacturing parameters, such as the pattern resolution, were determined and the optimal number of printed layers was evaluated for each substrate material. Next, inkjet-printed passive UHF RFID tags were fabricated on each substrate with the optimized parameters and number of layers. According to our measurements, the tags on different paper substrates showed peak read ranges of 4–6.5 meters and the tags on different cardboard substrates exhibited peak read ranges of 2–6 meters. Based on their wireless performance, these inkjet-printed paper-based passive UHF RFID tags are sufficient for many future wireless applications and comparable to tags fabricated on more traditional substrates, such as polyimide. publishedVersion

A Xi-shaped meta structure, has been introduced in this paper. A modified split-ring resonator (MSRR) and a capacitive loaded strip (CLS) were used to achieve the left-handed property of the metamaterial. The structure was printed using silver metallic nanoparticle ink, using a very low-cost photo paper as a substrate material. Resonators were inkjet-printed using silver nanoparticle metallic ink on paper to make this metamaterial flexible. It is also free from any kind of chemical waste, which makes it eco-friendly. A double negative region from 8.72 GHz to 10.91 GHz (bandwidth of 2.19 GHz) in the X-band microwave spectra was been found. Figure of merit was also obtained to measure any loss in the double negative region. The simulated result was verified by the performance of the fabricated prototype. The total dimensions of the proposed structure were 0.29 λ × 0.29 λ × 0.007 λ. It is a promising unit cell because of its simplicity, cost-effectiveness, and easy fabrication process.

This study designed and fabricated a frequency-selective structure-based security paper for the electromagnetic detection system of a security gate, which aims to prevent leakage of confidential documents. When a functional paper embedded with a frequency-selective pattern that selectively reflects a specific frequency is being leaked out of a security zone, the electromagnetic detection system receives and detects the intensity of the electromagnetic wave reflected from the security paper passing through an antenna gate, which transmits/receives RF signals. A stable detection performance of the security paper can be ensured by improving the incidence angle stability for incident waves and reducing the reflection loss. This study designed a frequency-selective structure with stable frequency reflection properties at the X-band by utilizing a Jerusalem cross structure. The proposed design was realized using the screen printing technique, which could implement a circuit, to print silver ink on a plain paper. To verify the applicability of the frequency-selective structure-based security paper, an RF detection system with a multiple antenna array was constructed and the intensity of the received signals was measured. The measurement was performed for various scenarios, and the result showed that the proposed security paper was well detected.

Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs) have enabled real-time power grid monitoring and control applications realizing an integrated power grid and communication system. The communication network formed by PMUs has strict latency requirements. If PMU measurements cannot reach the control centre within the latency bound, they will be invalid for calculation and may compromise the observability of the whole power grid as well as related applications. To address this issue, this study proposes a model to account for the power grid observability under communication constraints, where effective capacity is adopted to perform a cross-layer statistical analysis in the communication system. Based on this model, three algorithms are proposed for improving power grid observability, which are an observability redundancy algorithm, an observability sensitivity algorithm and an observability probability algorithm. These three algorithms aim at enhancing the power system observability via the optimal communication resource allocation for a given grid infrastructure. Case studies show that the proposed algorithms can improve the power system performance under constrained wireless communication resources.

Recently, it has been shown that channel feedback helps to enhance the physical layer security (PLS) of communication systems. The current use of feedback focuses on generating secret keys protecting the transmitted messages, and this feedback scheme is proved to be optimal for some physically degraded channel models. In this paper, we revisit the model of the state-dependent wiretap channel with the noncausal state at the transmitter, which plays an important role in the PLS of the wireless communication systems. We propose a new feedback scheme for this model and show that the proposed new scheme performs better than the already existing secret key-based feedback scheme. The results of this paper are further explained via a Gaussian example.

In general, considering standard production, as well as coconut oil production, in oil consumption industries is an important factor. Oil color is an important element, as it is an important factor for consumers or buyers in selecting coconut oil. In the process of producing coconut oil, the cold-pressed method has been chosen to maintain the essential quality of coconut oil. The quality of the coconut oil is inspected from the production process by means of light passing through the coconut oil. Then, the production staff compares the turbidity of coconut oil with the master sample. The turbidity of coconut oil in every production must be compared with a master sample to maintain standards control. According to previous studies, there are many methods for determining coconut oil turbidity. One method that has been utilized is determining turbidity from light passing through the medium in which the transmitted light can be absorbed through the turbidity of the variable medium. This process is applied together with image processing to determine the coconut oil turbidity. In this research, we propose a method for measuring coconut oil turbidity by the Moving Average Median of Hue (MAMoH), which is better in detecting the coconut oil turbidity than the Median of Gray Scale (MoGS) method, Median of Hue (MoH) method, and Random Position Median of Hue (RPMoH) method. In terms of the percentage accuracy of the efficiency test; the MAMoH method has 99 percent accuracy, while the MoGS method is not applicable, the MoH method has 88.04 percent accuracy, and the RPMoH method has 85.91 percent accuracy. Thus, the MAMoH method is considered an appropriate method for measuring coconut oil turbidity.

Random unitary beamforming (RUB) achieves multiuser diversity gain over multiple-input multiple-output broadcast channels with partial channel state information (CSI). RUB can asymptotically achieve the same growth of rate $M\log \log K$ as the optimal dirty paper coding or sub-optimal zero-forcing beamforming, which need full CSI at the transmitter. In this paper, we propose energy efficient RUB systems that select the optimal number of streams and transmission power to maximize energy efficiency (EE). In contrast to other beamforming schemes that use full CSI, optimizing RUB in terms of EE is a difficult task due to the CSI constraints. To solve this problem, we first select the EE-optimal number of streams and transmission power by using the statistical characteristics of RUB, which have been studied in previous works. Next, based on partial CSI feedback from users, we propose the method whereby the transmitter of RUB can adaptively control the transmission power. Simulation results demonstrate that our proposed systems can improve the EE performance of RUB and that the analytical results derived in this paper are accurate.

G.fast suffers from strong far-end crosstalk at high frequencies in cable binders containing a large number of twisted copper pairs. For the 212-MHz G.fast spectrum, the power penalty incurred by the conventional zero-forcing precoding-based linear vectoring (LV) scheme is far more substantial than it was over the 30-MHz VDSL2 spectrum. In this paper, we propose a novel non-LV (NLV) scheme based on Babai's nearest plane approximation of the closest lattice point problem on the reduced lattice basis. Similar to the conventional Tomlinson-Harashima precoding (THP)-based NLV, the proposed approximate perturbation aided lattice encoding (APPLE) scheme closely approaches the dirty paper coding capacity which provided that the system employs a fully rate-adaptive power allocation policy per tone per pair. However, if the system employs a scalar power policy that is only rate-adaptive with respect to each tone, APPLE becomes capable of achieving a higher throughput per binder than THP. APPLE's transmitter complexity is considerably lower than that of the conventional lattice encoding schemes (e.g., vector perturbation) and comparable to that of THP.

This paper presents an overview of the current research trends in the field of substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) technology, with particular emphasis on the issues related to the emerging applications in the framework of the Internet of Things (IoT) and the fifth generation of mobile communication (5G). More specifically, different techniques adopted to miniaturize SIW cavities are described, with the aim of reducing the footprint of SIW components and filters. Moreover, the use of innovative materials, like paper, textile and 3D printed dielectric substrates, is presented and discussed, and the implementation of ecofriendly, wearable, and fully 3D structures is illustrated.

The most important linear precoding method for frequency-flat MIMO broadcast channels is block diagonalization (BD) which, under certain conditions, attains the same nonlinear dirty paper coding channel capacity. However, BD is not easily translated to frequency-selective channels, since space-time information must be included in the transceiver design. In this paper, we demonstrate that BD is possible in frequency-selective MIMO broadcast channels to eliminate inter-user interference and derive the conditions on the number of transmit antennas and the transmission block length (as functions of the number of users and channel delay spread) for the existence of BD precoders. We also propose three different approaches to mitigate/eliminate inter-symbol interference in block transmissions: time-reversal-based BD (TRBD), equalized BD (EBD), and joint processing BD (JPBD). We show that any transmit-processing-only method (including TRBD and EBD) yields zero diversity and multiplexing gains (high SNR regime). We also demonstrate that JPBD, which uses linear processing at the transmitter and the receiver, approximates full multiplexing gain for a sufficiently large transmit block length, and show its diversity-multiplexing tradeoff. Extensive numerical simulations show that the achievable rate and probability of error performance of all the proposed techniques remarkably improve that of conventional time-reversal beamforming. Moreover, JPBD provides the highest achievable rate region for frequency-selective MIMO broadcast channels.

A compact, flexible crossed-dipole circular polarized antenna using commercially available paper substrate is presented which caters North American frequency band. The crossed-dipoles have meandered lines for reduction of size as well as increased inductivity in the antenna. Dipoles have asymmetric T-shaped rectangular endings to provide the required compactness. Two semicircles are induced between the orthogonal dipoles and meandering matching structure to accomplish circular polarization excitation. Good impedance matching with the chip is achieved through a modified meander line matching structure. The proposed design dimensions are 32 × 32 × 0.4 mm3. Systematic analysis revealed the results comprising circular polarization 3dB-AR bandwidth of 11MHz (909–920 MHz) and power transmission coefficient bandwidth of 36MHz (900–936 MHz). Time delay between interrogating signal and backscattered signal is measured and relative distance is calculated. Linear Least Square (LLS) method is applied to approximate the position of tag in interrogation area. The proposed tag is placed at known locations and its position is measured to analyze accuracy of the method by simulating the positioning algorithm code in MATLAB. Six valid tag positions 0.5–2 m read range and 0°–150° angular resolution has been investigated.

To prevent privacy leakage, cloud services need to take corresponding methods, so participants often face the dilemma of service utility and privacy protection. In this paper, we propose a dynamic adaptive access control model based on trust permission and privacy protection to solve the problem of privacy disclosure and utility in the cloud service. Firstly, we add the concept of obligation and purpose into access control and establish the privacy information tree and privacy policy tree. Secondly, we establish a new trust evaluation and give the corresponding weight algorithm. Thirdly, we quantify the privacy information with the normal space and correlation coefficient method. Further, we propose a tradeoff relationship model between trust permission and privacy protection, each participant can select the corresponding parameters according to the actual requirement and personal preference. Experimental analysis and comparison results verify the feasibility, effectiveness, and superiority of our method. Finally, we summarize the work of this paper and point out the future development direction.

An intrusion detection system (IDS) is an important protection instrument for detecting complex network attacks. Various machine learning (ML) or deep learning (DL) algorithms have been proposed for implementing anomaly-based IDS (AIDS). Our review of the AIDS literature identifies some issues in related work, including the randomness of the selected algorithms, parameters, and testing criteria, the application of old datasets, or shallow analyses and validation of the results. This paper comprehensively reviews previous studies on AIDS by using a set of criteria with different datasets and types of attacks to set benchmarking outcomes that can reveal the suitable AIDS algorithms, parameters, and testing criteria. Specifically, this paper applies 10 popular supervised and unsupervised ML algorithms for identifying effective and efficient ML-AIDS of networks and computers. These supervised ML algorithms include the artificial neural network (ANN), decision tree (DT), k-nearest neighbor (k-NN), naive Bayes (NB), random forest (RF), support vector machine (SVM), and convolutional neural network (CNN) algorithms, whereas the unsupervised ML algorithms include the expectation-maximization (EM), k-means, and self-organizing maps (SOM) algorithms. Several models of these algorithms are introduced, and the turning and training parameters of each algorithm are examined to achieve an optimal classifier evaluation. Unlike previous studies, this study evaluates the performance of AIDS by measuring the true positive and negative rates, accuracy, precision, recall, and F-Score of 31 ML-AIDS models. The training and testing time for ML-AIDS models are also considered in measuring their performance efficiency given that time complexity is an important factor in AIDSs. The ML-AIDS models are tested by using a recent and highly unbalanced multiclass CICIDS2017 dataset that involves real-world network attacks. In general, the k-NN-AIDS, DT-AIDS, and NB-AIDS models obtain the best results and show a greater capability in detecting web attacks compared with other models that demonstrate irregular and inferior results.

The simple rules that govern the interactions between the different components of a complex system often lead to interesting behaviours that are unexpected. The experiments described in this paper involved creating a variation of a traditional Braitenberg Vehicle, by placing sensors on ten different possible locations on a simulated vehicle, and incorporating an obstacle avoidance behaviour using a subsumption-like architecture, which resulted in different unusual and unexpected behaviours being produced. The vehicle was allowed to explore a simulated environment which contained a single bright light in the centre with walls on the border. By using a novel combination of the Prediction by Partial Matching compression algorithm and ${k}$ -means clustering, interesting emergent behaviours were effectively discovered within a search space of over 10,000 simulations produced from a simple interaction of light and proximity sensors on a vehicle and a single light source. The clustering algorithm discovered five distinct behaviours: circling and spiralling behaviours; interesting behaviours creating intricate rose petal-like structures; behaviours that create simple rose petal-like structures; behaviours with large movements and low complexity; and behaviours with less movement. The novel algorithm demonstrated in this paper has useful potential in the science of complex systems and modelling to help expedite the systematic exploration of a substantial search space of simulations in order to discover interesting behaviours.

Industry 4.0 is a revolution in manufacturing by introducing disruptive technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud-computing into the heart of the factory. The resulting increased automation and the improved production synergy between stocks, supply chains and customer demands, come along with the threats and attacks from the Internet. Despite extensive literature on the cybersecurity topic, many actors in manufacturing factories are just realizing the impact of cybersecurity in the preservation of their business. This paper introduces step-by-step the concepts and practical aspects of an Industry 4.0 manufacturing factory that are related to cybersecurity. Based on a subdivision of a typical factory into several generic perimeters, we present the vulnerabilities and threats regarding the network and devices usually found in each perimeter. Therefore, it is more efficient to present the recent proposals of the literature regarding cybersecurity guidelines and solutions in Industry 4.0. Instead of spreading a lot of references regarding every aspect of cybersecurity, we focused on a limited number of papers among the recent references. However, for each paper, we provide the details about the purpose of the proposal, the methodology adopted, the technical solution developed and its evaluation by the authors. These solutions range from classical cybersecurity countermeasures to innovative ones, such as those based on honeypots and digital twins. In order to deliver a review also useful to non scientists, we present our guidelines along with those of some organizations involved in cybersecurity harmonization and standardization in the world.

The Internet of Things is based on a communication network to automatically receive various information from the natural world. It uses intelligent objects with perception, communication and computers to automatically receive various information from nature. All independently managed physical objects are connected to each other to achieve integrated perception, reliable transmission and intelligent processing, and to establish intelligent information between people and objects, and objects and object service systems. This article mainly introduces the impact of industrial agglomeration on the regional economy in a simulated intelligent environment based on machine learning. This paper proposes a method to detect industrial agglomeration index to analyze industrial agglomeration. Through the establishment of the industrial agglomeration index system, the level of integration of the manufacturing industry in our city was objectively analyzed, and the impact of the integration of manufacturing industry on our city was tested empirically. Finally, the relationship between industrial integration and regional economic development was tested. The experimental results in this paper show that industrial integration in a smart environment based on simulation learning has a significant positive impact on regional economic development. Among them, the level of cooperation between the manufacturing service industry and the manufacturing industry increased by 1%, and the level of regional economic development increased by 0.025%.

PnP problem is well researched in many fields, such as computer vision. It is considered the fundamental method to solve the key problems of robot SLAM. However, in pedestrian visual localization, uncalibrated PnP (UPnP), specifically PnP with unknown focal length (PnPf) is more suitable for solving the problem. Recently, a few researchers proposed some methods to alleviate this problem. However, the localization accuracy of the existing methods is not satisfied when image pixel noise is larger. In other words, RANSAC should be running before solving the PnPf problem to get less noisy input, which means the localization delay increases inevitably. In this paper, we propose a more robust method for solving the PnPf problem without the help of RANSAC based on Gröbner basis and convex optimization. We build a Gröbner basis solver on the offline stage with one instance in the prime field. Then, we substitute the coefficients with real value and find multiple solutions on the online stage. Finally, we construct a convex optimization program to seek the final robust solution to PnPf problem. The other purpose of this paper is to provide a second-level localization experience for the end-user. The simulation result shows that our method can give a localization solution, which is more reliable than benchmark methods by both synthetic and real data verified.

In this paper, the secrecy performance of the physical layer security (PLS) of the hybrid free-space optical/radio frequency (FSO/RF) communication system is analyzed. The transmission protocol of the considered system is performed under the eavesdropper's attempt to overhear the RF link between the transmitter and legitimate receiver of the hybrid system. The FSO link is characterized by Málaga-M distribution while the RF links are modeled by Nakagami-m distribution. The two practical eavesdropping modes considered in this paper include: colluding and non-colluding. Exact closed-form expressions for the system's secrecy outage probability (SOP), the asymptotic of the SOP (SOP∞), the probability of strictly positive secrecy capacity (SPSC), the average secrecy capacity (ASC), and the asymptotic of the ASC (ASC∞), are specifically derived under the influence of both eavesdropper modes. Our derived analytical expressions present an efficient tool to investigate the impact of some channel parameters on the secrecy performance, namely the fading severity of the RF links, atmospheric turbulence severity, pointing error of the FSO link, number of eavesdroppers, and the power of the eavesdropper links. The results show that the increase of the eavesdroppers' number under both modes profoundly degrades the considered system secrecy performance. The accuracy of the numerical results obtained is validated by Monte-Carlo simulations.

With the commercialization of 5G, in order to recognize QAM signals, one of the main modulation modes in 5G communication systems, this paper put forward the BP-BSA network model based on bird swarm algorithm (BSA) and BP neural network. Firstly, the instantaneous features and high-order cumulants were selected as the appropriate feature statistics by analyzing the characteristics of MQAM signals. After that, the structure of the BP neural network model was determined, and the initial parameters of the BP neural network were optimized using BSA to accelerate the convergence speed of the network. Finally, the features processed with signal to noise ratio (SNR) disorder were used to train and test the BP neural network model. The BP-BSA network model proposed in this paper applies the bird swarm algorithm to the field of modulation recognition for the first time. And the simulation results show that the recognition accuracies of 16, 32, 64, 128, 256QAM signals in the SNR range of −5 dB to 20 dB all reach above 98%. Compared with the same type algorithms, the algorithm proposed in this paper has good recognition performance.

Small cells (SCs) are expected to be ultra-densely deployed in or close to the traffic hot-spots in the fifth generation (5G) mobile networks to provide wireless capacity cost-effectively. Traffic hot-spots change over time, which means SCs cannot be deployed in a one-off manner as macrocells normally do, rather they should be constructed in a staged process. Hence, mathematical models that capture the time-varying staged-construction process, are urgently needed for operators to effectively predict the construction period, but are currently lacking. In this paper, inspired by the foam bursting process-a natural phenomenon that can be observed in daily life such as hand-washing, we first propose a novel model that can predict the time-varying expectation and logarithmic variance of SC coverage areas. Then, we verify the model by real network deployment cases. Additionally, in order to extract parameters from historical base station deployment data, a parameter estimation algorithm is designed and verified. The findings of the paper reveal that mobile operators should construct ultra-dense SC networks in a staged manner like how larger foams split into smaller ones.

The widespread use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) has made the security and computing resource application efficiency of UAV a hot topic in the security field of the Internet of Things. In this paper, an optimized lightweight identity security authentication protocol, Optimized Identity Authentication Protocol (ODIAP) is proposed for Internet of Drones (IoD) networks. The protocol is targeted to the security risks faced by IoD networks, and proposes the security authentication mechanism consisting of 3 phases and 7 authentication processes, which enables the protocol has both forward and backward security, and can resist mainstream network attacks. Meanwhile, this paper fully considers the computational load and proposes the identity information generation and verification method based on the Chinese residual theorem, which reduces the computational load of resource-constrained nodes and shifts the complex computational process to server nodes with abundant computational resources. Moreover, after security protocol analysis and tool verification based on the automated security verification tool Proverif, the protocol in this paper has complete security. At the same time, the performance analysis and comparison with other mainstream protocols shows that this protocol effectively optimizes the use of computing resources without compromising security.

In this paper, a color image encryption algorithm based on the fractional-order multi-scroll Chen chaotic system and DNA mutation principle is proposed. The dynamical performances of the fractional-order multi-scroll Chen chaotic system are analyzed by phase diagram, Lyapunov exponential spectrum and bifurcation diagram. Meanwhile, we realized the hardware circuit simulation of the chaotic system on the DSP platform. Based on comprehensive analysis, an image encryption algorithm is designed. In particular, a DNA algorithm with mutation effect has been introduced into the encryption algorithm. Finally, the performances of the designed encryption scheme are analyzed by key space, correlation coefficients, information entropy, histogram, differential attacks and robustness analysis. The experimental results prove that the algorithm has strong encryption capabilities and can withstand multiple decryption methods. The new color image encryption scheme proposed in this paper can realize the secure communication of digital images.

The Bernoulli filter is a general, Bayes-optimal solution for tracking a single disappearing and reappearing target, using a single sensor whose observations are corrupted by missed detections and a general, known clutter process. Like virtually all target-tracking algorithms it presumes a hidden Markov model (HMM) structure on the sensor and target. Pieczynski's pairwise Markov model (PMM) relaxes this assumption, thereby addressing correlated sensor noise and non-Markovian target motion. In an earlier paper, we derived a “PMM Bernoulli filter” that obeys PMM rather than restrictive HMM sensor/target statistics. This paper generalizes both the HMM and PMM Bernoulli filters to the case of multiple, possibly correlated sensors, resulting in a general, Bayes-optimal single-target tracker for complexly correlated sensors.

The epidemic increase in online reviews’ growth made the sentiment classification a fascinating domain in academic and industrial research. The reviews assist several domains, which is complicated to gather annotated training data. Several sentiment classification methodologies are devised for performing the sentiment analysis, but retrieval of information is not accurately performed, less effective, and less convergence speed. In this paper, we propose a sentiment paper proposes a sentiment classification model, namely Spider Monkey Crow Optimization algorithm (SMCA), for training the deep recurrent neural network (DeepRNN). In this method, the telecom review is employed to remove stop words and stemming to eliminate inappropriate data to minimize user’s seeking time. Meanwhile, the feature extraction is performed using SentiWordNet to derive the sentiments from the reviews. The extracted SentiWordNet features and other features, like elongated words, punctuation, hashtag, and numerical values, are employed in the DeepRNN for classifying sentiments. To retrieve the required review, the Fuzzy K-Nearest neighbor (Fuzzy-KNN) is employed to retrieve the review based on a distance measure. With rigorous assessments and experimentation, it is observed that the proposed SMCA-based DeepRNN performs better in terms of accuracy of 97.7%, precision of 95.5%, recall of 94.6%, and F1-score 96.7%, respectively.

This paper proposes a simplified analytical model for electromagnetic interference (EMI) filters used in high-power converters. Highpower converters produce radio frequency conducted noise because they use high-frequency switching in the range of a few kHz to tens of kHz. The noise propagates into the power grid, which disturbs the functionality of the radio frequency apparatuses. Well-known standards, such as CISPR, provide the measurement and assessment methodologies for these devices. Moreover, the emission level of the noise is restricted at the source side. Using EMI filters is the most effective approach for dealing with this issue. However, due to the nonlinear nature of the common-mode (CM) cores, the modeling of the cores is a complicated task, which makes the selection and design of the filters less than optimal. In this paper, an analytical modeling of the CM filters is provided to suit the nonlinear frequency-dependent behavior of the CM cores. The simplicity of the proposed model makes it a very suitable choice for inclusion in the design procedures, which results in a more accurate and optimum filter selection among the many available commercial industrial filters. To validate the proposed model, the frequency-dependent model obtained is verified by experimental tests with a commercial CM choke. According to the results, the proposed model accurately describes the actual EMI filter behavior.

The sixth generation (6G) wireless communication network presents itself as a promising technique that can be utilized to provide a fully data-driven network evaluating and optimizing the end-to-end behavior and big volumes of a real-time network within a data rate of Tb/s. In addition, 6G adopts an average of 1000+ massive number of connections per person in one decade (2030 virtually instantaneously). The data-driven network is a novel service paradigm that offers a new application for the future of 6G wireless communication and network architecture. It enables ultra-reliable and low latency communication (URLLC) enhancing information transmission up to around 1 Tb/s data rate while achieving a 0.1 millisecond transmission latency. The main limitation of this technique is the computational power available for distributing with big data and greatly designed artificial neural networks. The work carried out in this paper aims to highlight improvements to the multi-level architecture by enabling artificial intelligence (AI) in URLLC providing a new technique in designing wireless networks. This is done through the application of learning, predicting, and decision-making to manage the stream of individuals trained by big data. The secondary aim of this research paper is to improve a multi-level architecture. This enables user level for device intelligence, cell level for edge intelligence, and cloud intelligence for URLLC. The improvement mainly depends on using the training process in unsupervised learning by developing data-driven resource management. In addition, improving a multi-level architecture for URLLC through deep learning (DL) would facilitate the creation of a data-driven AI system, 6G networks for intelligent devices, and technologies based on an effective learning capability. These investigational problems are essential in addressing the requirements in the creation of future smart networks. Moreover, this work provides further ideas on several research gaps between DL and 6G that are up-to-date unknown.

This paper addresses the problem of decoding non-binary low density parity check codes(LDPC) over finite field $GF(q)$ using symbol flipping approach. To achieve low complexity reliable communication, three new algorithms for improving the bit error rate performance of the non-binary LDPC decoder are presented. The first type is the symbol flipping decoding algorithm using a flipping function based on the channel reliability to identify the least reliable symbol position. In this algorithm, if the predicted symbol value satisfies the check sum, then the value is declared as correct otherwise the value is adjusted and sent back to the QAM detector. Algorithms 2 in this paper is an improvement to iterative joint detection-decoding algorithm by using the method of iterative hard decision based majority logic to select the new candidate symbol value. The feedback value to the QAM detector is adjusted by using Euclidean distance between the current symbol and the newly selected symbol value. Algorithm 3 is a low complexity version of Algorithm 2 which is derived by applying a majority voting scheme. In the majority voting scheme, symbols are short listed first by voting and all the computation are carried out only for the short listed least reliable symbols which significantly lowers the processing complexity. Numerical results and complexity analysis show that the proposed methods have good bit error rate versus complexity trade-off for various applications when compared with some existing algorithms.

In order to solve the NP-hard problem of mobile sink path planning in wireless sensor networks (WSN) where the communication range is modeled as a circular area and overlaps with each other, this paper proposes a sink node path planning method guided by the Hamiltonian of quantum annealing algorithm (EMGH) to balance the energy consumption of wireless sensor networks, improve the network life and solve the energy hole problem. First of all, this paper analyzes the problem in theory, and transforms the characteristics of the problem into a mathematical model. The mathematical model considers that the sensor network itself is a travelling salesman problem (TSP), but also requires the shortest path of the mobile sink node. Then, the path of each node in the sensor network is iterated by quantum annealing algorithm, and an optimal TSP path is obtained by using quantum tunneling effect and quantum circuit to achieve parallelism. Finally, in the case of compressing the solution space, the moving path of the mobile sink node is quantum coded, and the Hamiltonian in the quantum annealing algorithm is taken as the guiding factor, and then the individual dimensions are moved, which improves the accuracy of the algorithm and speeds up the convergence speed of the algorithm. Finally, the feasibility of EMGH is verified by simulation experiments and comparison with other algorithms, which provides a reference for the optimization and improvement of path planning method.

The problem of finding the route with maximum end-to-end spectral efficiency in a multihop wireless network has been subject to considerable interest in the recent literature. It has been established that the problem is polynomially solvable in networks that employ time division multiple access (TDMA) or frequency division multiple access (FDMA). The main characteristic of TDMA and FDMA is being interference-free. Motivated by the advances in full-duplex (FD) communications and self-interference (SI) cancelation, this paper considers the problem for interference-limited wireless networks, in which nodes can send and receive at the same time and using the same frequency, but all links may interfere with each other. The contribution of this paper is three-fold. We formulate the problem as a mixed integer non-linear programming problem, and provide two equivalent re-formulations that provide more insight into the problem structure. Moreover, to the best of our knowledge for the first time, we provide a formal proof that the problem is NP-complete in the interference-limited case. Our proof uses reduction from a more general link scheduling problem subject to signal-to-interference-plus-noise-ratio (SINR) constraints. Finally, using an algorithm based on searching over paths while pruning the allowed number of hops, we provide a detailed numerical study that illustrates the tradeoffs between interference-limited FD relaying and TDMA half-duplex (HD) relaying. Our results indicate that sub-optimal interference-limited FD relaying leads to up to 2.69 times higher spectral efficiencies as compared to optimal TDMA HD relaying. Moreover, the lower the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regime, the larger the network size and/or the higher the SI capabilities, the higher the spectral efficiency gain due to FD (over HD) relaying.

This paper considers the problem of estimating the motion parameters of a low-observable high-speed maneuvering target with high-order motions, where the target’s complex motions will result in the range migration (RM) and Doppler frequency migration (DFM) effects within the observation time interval, which will significantly affect the radar performance. Based on the Hough transform (HT) and the polynomial Chirplet transform (PCT), a novel method for the motion parameter estimation, which we coin as HPCT, is proposed in this paper. It first employs the trajectory feature extracted from the image of range profiles by the HT to correct the first-order RM and resolve the Doppler ambiguity. Then, it compensates the residual range curvature and the DFM with the motion parameters estimated from the time-frequency ridge, which is extracted from the highly concentrated time-frequency representation (TFR) generated by the PCT. After that, the energy of radar returns can be coherently integrated along the target’s moving trajectory. In addition, we evaluate the parameter estimation performance, integration performance and computational cost of the proposed method via theoretical analysis or numerical experiments. The results show that in terms of the anti-noise ability, cross-term interference avoidance, measurement accuracy and computational complexity, the HPCT is superior to some common methods for the motion parameter estimation. Finally, we extend it to the scenario of multiple targets with different motion orders.

Due to the rapid development of wireless communication technologies, the number of wireless users are radically increasing. Currently, $\sim 23$ billion wireless devices are connected to the internet, and these numbers are expected to increase manifolds in the years to come. The technology growth of the fifth-generation (5G) wireless systems will be needed to meet this high demand of the network. 5G wireless systems offer data-rates of up to 10Gbps, 1-ms latency, and reduced power consumption. It is a known fact that 5G wireless systems will be exploiting beyond the presently used 3 GHz microwave and millimetre-wave (mm-wave) frequency bands. This is the primary driver in the development of the 5G wireless system. Multi-beam Phased array antenna (PAA) systems are typically used in the deployment of 5G systems for high-gain and directionality. In current 5G and future Beyond 5G (B5G) antenna array systems, beamforming networks (BFNs) such as the Butler Matrix (BM) will play a key role in achieving multi-beam characteristics. So, this paper presents an extensive review of the BM based BFNs, and discusses which type of BM will be suitable for the phased array antenna (PAA) systems in the upcoming 5G and next-generation of B5G wireless systems. Moreover, this paper also summarizes the different types of BM designs based on the number of layers. The BMs are classified into the bi-layer, tri-layer, and four-layer structures. It includes different techniques that have been used to solve the problem of crossing, narrow bandwidth, and size reduction of the BM. From the previous studies, it is found that most of the past research work was performed using the bi-layer BM system, whereas the difficult geometries like tri- and four-layer BM are avoided due to their complex fabrication process. It is also found in this paper that the metamaterial (MTM) based bi-layer BM achieves low insertion-loss and phase-error, excellent bandwidth and compact size, and good S-parameter performance, which makes them an ideal BFN candidate for the upcoming 5G and next-generation B5G systems.

Near Field Communication (NFC) is a prominent short-range, contact-less communication technology, which is rapidly getting popular in modern smart devices. For communication between two active devices via NFC, applications generally choose the peer-to-peer operation mode. In this paper, we exploit the possibility of using the NFC read/write mode, designed primarily for unidirectional data transfer from an active NFC reader to a passive NFC tag, for bi-directional half-duplex communication between two active NFC devices. The advantages of using the NFC read/write mode include low protocol overhead and permitting different data formats. However, the challenges are avoiding the reader collision problem, maintaining a secure session, and completing all transactions in an acceptable time frame. In this paper, we address the above challenges and propose a methodology for efficient communication between active NFC devices using NFC read/write mode. To evaluate the scheme, we design a secure Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) system that requires bi-directional communication for mutually authenticating two NFC devices. The proposed methodology is experimentally verified using NFC-enabled Android smartphones and a Kerberos server as the third-party authenticator.

In this paper, a commercial high-accuracy, low-cost and real-time indoor building-level localization system is proposed, which is applicable for locating the Minimization of Drive-Tests (MDT) data in the long-term-evolution (LTE) cellular communication network system. The system utilizes MDT data containing Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) information which is easy to collect and low cost to assist indoor localization, instead of using indoor drive test (DT) data which needs high manual collection and maintenance costs. In order to compensate for the loss of location accuracy, this paper innovatively divide the online process into two phases: indoor and outdoor (IO) identification phase and indoor localization phase. A real-time and precise GMM-based unsupervised algorithm is applied to identifying if the non-GNSS MDT data is in indoor environment in IO identification phase. Then, a multi-class classification algorithm based on Bayesian classifier is used to locate indoor MDT data to the specific building. The results of experiments conducted in an in-service LTE network using more than 100 LTE base stations demonstrate that the proposed technique yields a IO identification accuracy of 90% and an indoor location accuracy of 49.3m(@67%) respectively, which provides at least 30.2% enhancement in location accuracy compared to traditional technology without DT fingerprint database. This proposed indoor localization technique is applicable in network optimization and Operation and Maintenance (O&M) to assist communication service providers to reduce their operating expense (OPEX) by locating those MDT data without GNSS information.

This paper studies a new amplify-and-forward cooperative overlay cognitive radio (CR) non-orthogonal multiple access (AFCO-NOMA) system, where a primary network shares its license spectrum with a secondary network by using NOMA principles. An approximate closed-form expression for the outage probability of the proposed system is analyzed. Asymptotic expressions for the outage probability in high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regime of both secondary and primary destinations are derived assuming channel estimation error (CEE) and imperfect successive interference cancellation (SIC). Further, the optimal power allocation coefficients to maximize the system throughput for different target rates are determined to ensure priority to the primary user. The diversity order at the primary and secondary destinations are also derived. Moreover, the AFCO-NOMA system is compared with the OMA-based cooperative overlay system in terms of outage probability. The paper also studies the impact of various parameters such as power allocation coefficients, CEE, and detection threshold, on the outage performance of the proposed system. Monte Carlo simulations are used to confirm the correctness of the derived analytical results.

This paper presents an overview of device identification techniques and the Manufacturer Usage Description (MUD) standard used for the Internet of things to reduce the IoT attack surface. The ongoing diversity and the sheer increase in the number of connected IoT devices have crumpled security efforts. There is a need to reconsider and redesign the underlying concept of developing security systems to resolve IoT security challenges. In this backdrop, device profiling and identification have emerged as an exciting technique that helps to reduce IoT device attack surface. One of the known approaches for device identification is to fingerprint a device. There are many ways to fingerprint the device, mostly using device network flows or device local attributes. The device identification ensures the authenticity of the device attached to the network, like user authentication. Since IoT devices mostly work using machine-to-machine (M2M) communication, this requires identifying each device properly. But there is no unified approach for device identification for the ever-growing world of IoT devices and applications. One of the major steps forward in this direction is the development of the Manufacturer Usage Description (MUD) standard that defines the role of a device within the network. It limits the device to execute the primary task only, which will help to reduce the attack surface. Since the inception of MUD, many security frameworks use this standard for IoT security. However, there is a need to scrutinize the security frameworks based on the MUD, to find out the claimed effectiveness of the standard in IoT security. This paper initially identifies and classifies the potential vulnerabilities in IoT devices. Then, the study provides an overview of the research that focuses on device identification techniques and analyzes their role in IoT security. Finally, the research presents an overview of MUD technology, its implementation scenarios, the limitation of the latest MUD standard, and its applications in the industry. The prime aim of this work is to examine the MUD benefits in IoT security along with the weaknesses and challenges while implementing this standard along with future directions.

Cryptographic algorithms are widely used in information security fields such as network protocol authentication and commercial encryption software. Password recovery based on the hash algorithm is an important means of electronic forensics, encrypted information restoration, illegal information filtering, and network security maintenance. The traditional password recovery system is based mainly on the CPU and GPU and has a low energy efficiency ratio and cracking efficiency and cannot meet high-performance computing requirements. To further improve the computational efficiency and application flexibility of password recovery algorithms, this paper proposes a reconfigurable computing kernel design method based on a hybrid reconfigurable computing array (HRCA). Through in-depth analysis of the hash algorithm, the basic computing kernel set is extracted, and the combination design is carried out from the unit kernel, interconnection and storage structure to reconstruct the hash algorithm to match the application with the appropriate structure. Second, combined with the pipeline technology, the full pipeline hash and high-speed password attack algorithms are optimized and implemented to meet the needs of high-performance computing. Finally, an advanced computing kernel library is established, and the combination of a computing kernel map from the control and communication levels to achieve multidimensional reconfigurable computing and an overall placement strategy is used to make full use of the chip resources to improve computational efficiency. The experimental results and analysis show that compared with traditional CPU and GPU methods, the password recovery algorithm designed in this paper has the highest cracking speeds at 78.22 times and 2.65 times that of the CPU and GPU, respectively, and the highest energy efficiency ratio is 25.88 times and 3.16 times that of the CPU and GPU, respectively. Furthermore, the recovery efficiency has been significantly improved and meets the requirements of high-performance password recovery computing.

In this paper, we are proposing and validating “mobTHE” protocol that is designed to fill the gap in handling seamless mobile communication for on-body nodes. Therefore, “mobTHE” protocol tackles the dis-connectivity problem resulted from the sensor nodes' mobility while keeping an eye on the network's sustainability in terms of maximum packet throughput, prolonged node lifetime, and low temperature. To provide such a balanced trade-off, we utilize two Coordinator Nodes (CNs), namely, CN1 and CN2. Both of these CNs are working as Serving CN (SCN) to its closest nodes and as Neighbour CN (NCN) to the sensor nodes located far from these CNs, which enable collecting data from different sensor nodes continuously. The challenge here is the synchronization between the two CNs in such a way to optimize network resources via minimizing packet transmission duplication and packet drop rate, which is the main contribution of this paper. We present a novel Handover (HO) mechanism during the sensor node mobility and changing between the two CNs. That HO mechanism is capable of minimizing the redundancy of packets and leading to minimization in the packet drop rate. Considering the worst-case scenario where the sensor node is out of the two CNs range, we exploit two-hops data transmission. Parent Node (PN) is selected “on demand” to carry only the data of the moving node which moves away from both CNs rather than carrying the data of all sensor nodes which conserves the energy of the PN nodes as well as the moving node. The simulation analysis depicted that “mobTHE” protocol outperforms the conventional “THE” and “iM-SIMPLE” protocols in terms of temperature control, WBAN lifetime, throughput, and overall residual energy.

The developments in information and communications technologies (ICT) come with changes in all the fields of life, including the education system. At the same time, the IoT (Internet of Things) is turning ever more important as regards the overall benefits that it brings to smart cities as well as the education system. Starting March 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused fast-paced changes in education and forced the ICT integration in higher education. Despite that, the IoT is still at the beginning in the education system and the impact of its adoption is far from being fully understood. This article is aimed at describing a smart education environment and the extent to which the IOT is conducive to this desideratum. The paper also identifies and describes the most important benefits and challenges related to the adoption of the IoT in higher education. In order to analyze the impact of the IoT adoption in the education environment, the authors propose an assessment model based on six hypotheses, including their definitions and descriptions. They are validated against the Romanian higher education system, as well as a set of survey data. Structural equation modelling (SEM) is used in the study to validate the suggested model as well as to determine how the adoption of the IoT relates to intra- and extra-university connectivity, to attracting additional resources, to the teaching and learning activities, to data security and integrity as well as to education policies. The last part of the paper dwells on the analysis of a set of survey data and of the hypotheses shaped herein. The paper also includes recommendations, as well as the main conclusions, limitations and future research directions. It contributes both from the theoretical and practical perspective to the development of smart universities in the future.

A distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack represents a major threat to service providers. More specifically, a DDoS attack aims to disrupt and deny services to legitimate users by overwhelming the target with a massive number of malicious requests. A cyberattack of this kind is likely to result in tremendous economic losses for businesses and service providers due to increasing both operating and financial costs. In recent years, machine learning (ML) techniques have been widely used to prevent DDoS attacks. Indeed, many defense systems have been transformed into smart and intelligent systems through the use of ML techniques, which allow them to defeat DDoS attacks. This paper analyzes recent studies concerning DDoS detection methods that have adapted single and hybrid ML approaches in modern networking environments. Additionally, the paper discusses different DDoS defense systems based on ML techniques that make use of a virtualized environment, including cloud computing, software-defined network, and network functions virtualization environments. As the development of the Internet of Things (IoT) has been the subject of significant research attention in recent years, the paper also discusses ML approaches as security solutions against DDoS attacks in IoT environments. Furthermore, the paper recommends a number of directions for future research. This paper is intended to assist the research community with the design and development of effective defense systems capable of overcoming different types of DDoS attacks.

A detection model of Internet of Things encrypted traffic based on edge intelligence is proposed in the paper, which can reduce the communication times of distributed Internet of Things gateways in the process of edge intelligence as well as the encrypted traffic detection model establishment time, in order to solve the problems that it is difficult to carry out efficient classification and accurate identification of the encrypted traffic of Internet of Things. In this paper, four new classification and identification methods for encrypted traffic are put forward, namely time-sequence behavior analysis, dynamic behavior analysis, key behavior analysis and two-round filtering analysis. The experimental results show that when the sample size is 1600, the encrypted traffic detection model establishment time is less than 100 seconds, and the accuracy of all the four new traffic classification methods is more than 92% and the recall rates of them are more than 83%.

In most of existing Internet of Things (IoT) applications, data compression, data encryption and error/erasure correction are implemented separately. To achieve reliable communication, in particular, in harsh wireless environment with strong interference, error/erasure correction codes with higher correction capability or Automatic repeat request (ARQ) scheme are desirable but at the cost of increasing complexity and energy consumption. Due to resource-constrained IoT device, it is often challenging to implement all of them. In this paper, we propose a novel lightweight efficient secure error-robust scheme, ENCRUST, which is able to achieve these three functions using simple matrix multiplication. ENCRUST is built on the new theoretical foundation of projection-based encoding presented in this paper, by leveraging the sparsity inherent in the signal. We perform theoretical analysis and experimental study of the proposed scheme in comparison with the conventional schemes. It shows that the proposed scheme can work in low SINR range and the reconstructed signal quality shows graceful degradation. Furthermore, we apply the proposed scheme on real-life electrocardiogram (ECG) dataset and images. The results demonstrate that ENCRUST achieves decent compression, information secrecy as well as strong error recovery in one go.

In order to enhance the tolerance of frequency misalignment and solve the amplitude-bandwidth limitation issue of the traditional linear resonance wireless power transfer (WPT) system, this paper proposes a non-linear resonance WPT (NLR-WPT) system which is mainly composed of high frequency power supply, primary linear resonator, secondary non-linear resonator, and load. Such non-linear resonator can be implemented with passive linear capacitor and magnetic saturation inductor, and it can be described by Duffing equation. It has been shown that the bandwidth of NLR-WPT system in the nonlinear state is 1.7 times larger than that in the linear state. In addition, the output voltage basically stabilizes at the same level, the voltage fluctuation is less than 5% over the power frequency ranging from 25.6 kHz to 31.8 kHz, and high overall efficiency of 86.5% can be achieved under a wide range of frequency (27.5 kHz-30.1 kHz). Furthermore, the range of frequency can be extended significantly over which the output voltage is maintained even while the compensate capacitance, load, or coupling coefficient values vary in a certain range. The experimental results agree well with the theoretical analysis and verify the validity of the NLR-WPT system with non-linear resonator. This paper provides a simple and effective scheme to suppress the fluctuation of output voltage, which is suitable for the applications of constant voltage charging such as moving devices or electric vehicles.

The outboard corner reflectors are widely used as a countermeasure to radar tracking and detection. Therefore, it is essential to determine the composite time-domain scattering characteristics of the corner reflector and ship against the sea background and the jamming effectiveness of the corner reflector array. In this paper, the composite electromagnetic scattering characteristics of ship target, corner reflector, and the sea surface are studied based on the time-domain bouncing ray method (TDSBR). The radar echo and broadband radar cross section (RCS) results for the time domain pulse incident are also obtained and the high-resolution range profile (HRRP) is calculated. We then devise an evaluation system based on centroid jamming intensity and range profile similarity to determine the jamming characteristics of passive jamming. We further propose an array composing of three sizes of corner reflectors. Finally, the centroid jamming effectiveness is analyzed by comparing the RCS of the corner reflector array and the ship, and the deception jamming effectiveness is measured by calculating the range profile similarity based on the cosine similarity method and the range profile peak envelope overlap. Simulation results show that the reflector array can achieve a good performance both for centroid and range profile deception. The simulation results given and the evaluation method proposed in this paper provides significant practical insights into the design and analysis of the passive jamming systems.

This paper considers the novel problem of deriving a Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) link schedule for rechargeable wireless sensor networks (rWSNs). Unlike past works, it considers: (i) the energy harvesting time of nodes, (ii) a battery cycle constraint that is used to overcome so called memory effects , and (iii) battery imperfections, i.e., leakage. This paper shows analytically that the battery cycle constraint and leaking batteries lead to unscheduled links. Further, it presents a greedy heuristic that schedules links according to when their corresponding nodes have sufficient energy. Our simulations show that enforcing the battery cycle constraint increases the link schedule by up to 1.71 (0.31) times for nodes equipped with a leaking (leak-free) battery. When nodes have a leaking battery, the derived schedules are on average 1.05 times longer than the case where nodes have a leak-free battery. Finally, the battery cycle constraint reduces the number of charge/discharge cycles by up to 47.41% (45.67)% when nodes have a leak (leak-free) battery. Between leak-free and leak battery scenarios, using the former produces up to 51.46% fewer cycles than the latter.

Enhancement of low-light images is a challenging task due to the impact of low brightness, low contrast, and high noise. The inability to collect natural labeled data intensifies this problem further. Many researchers have attempted to solve this problem using learning-based approaches; however, most models ignore the impact of noise in low-lit images. In this paper, an encoder-decoder architecture, made up of separable convolution layers that solve the issues encountered in low-light image enhancement, is proposed. The architecture is trained end-to-end on a custom low-light image dataset (LID), comprising both clean and noisy images. We introduce a unique multi-context feature extraction module (MC-FEM) where the input first passes through a feature pyramid of dilated separable convolutions for hierarchical-context feature extraction followed by separable convolutions for feature compression. The model is optimized using a novel three-part loss function that focuses on high-level contextual features, structural similarity, and patch-wise local information. We conducted several ablation studies to determine the optimal model for low-light image enhancement under noisy and noiseless conditions. We have used performance metrics like peak-signal-to-noise ratio, structural similarity index matrix, visual information fidelity, and average brightness to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed work against the state-of-the-art algorithms. Qualitative results presented in this paper prove the strength and suitability of our model for real-time applications.

As the manufacturing industry gradually expands and tends to be intelligent, the industrial networks have been greatly applied and are of paramount importance. Furthermore, taking the advantages of wireless networks into account, such as flexible deployment, low cost, and easy maintenance, etc., this paper is dedicated to the research of industrial wireless networks. Facing the problem of limited radio resource, in order to make full use of frequency band, this paper proposes a resource scheduling scheme with puncturing, which guarantees the reliability of subsequent ultra-reliable and low-latency communications (URLLC) services under the conditions of existing enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) services. By optimizing the bandwidth pre-allocation for eMBB services, puncture weight and transmit power, this scheme can effectively meet the needs of the system. Specifically, the purpose of this paper is to minimize the decoding error rate of the devices carrying URLLC service while ensuring the demand for throughput of eMBB services. The problem proposed is a nonlinear stochastic optimization problem involving complex Q-function. The closed-form expression of the objective function is obtained through linear approximation and probability theory, which is further decoupled into three sub-problems. To this end, a block coordinate descent optimization (BCDO) algorithm is proposed to obtain the optimal bandwidth allocation, puncture weight and transmit power. The simulation results verify the rationality of the theoretical analysis and the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, and also elaborate the influence of different parameters on the decoding error rate of the URLLC devices.

This paper presents a simple, didactical and compact solution for the components of the magnetic vector potential and magnetic field generated by a circular arc filament carrying a direct current using the well-known incomplete elliptic integrals, their properties and formulas. Using a well-defined method, the expressions are obtained in Cartesian coordinates and then easily transformed to a compact expression in cylindrical coordinates. The paper provides numerical data for different study cases where arbitrary arc filaments are considered. Through Gauss’ magnetic law, special cases, and comparisons with numerical methods, a degree of validation is provided for the derived expressions.These solutions represent a computational advantage for magnetic field calculations for applications like wireless power transfer. Finally, new integral formulas are derived using elliptic integrals.
