A facile approach to fabricate transparent and nonfluorinated coatings with dynamical omniphobicity on diverse substrates was developed. Hydrosilane formation was conducted using non-stoichiometry liquid silicone (Sylgard 184) on the surfaces of glass, silicon wafer, stainless-steel, acrylic sheet and silicone rubber, followed by covalently grafting monovinyl-terminated polydimethylsiloxane to hydrosilane. The resultant liquid-like coatings showed contact angle hysteresis and sliding angle below 5° for water and below 10° for n-hexadecane, revealing excellent repellency to both polar and non-polar liquids. Moreover, the coatings displayed high self-cleaning performance, not only for liquid contaminants but also for solid contaminants.
