Abstract: We report results of searches for charmless hadronic B meson decays to pseudoscalar(pi^+-,K^+-,Pi^0 or Ks^0)-vector(Rho, K* or Omega) final states. Using 9.7 million BBbar pairs collected with the CLEO detector, we report first observation of B^- --> Pi^-Rho^0, B^0 --> Pi^+-Rho^-+ and B^- --> Pi^-Omega, which are expected to be dominated by hadronic b --> u transitions. The measured branching fractions are (10.4+3.3-3.4+-2.1)x10^-6, (27.6+8.4-7.4+-4.2)x10^-6 and (11.3+3.3-2.9+-1.4)x10^-6, respectively. Abstract: We present a new determination of the Ds decay constant, f_{Ds} using 5 million continuum charm events obtained with the CLEO II detector. Our value is derived from our new measured ratio of widths for Ds -> mu nu/Ds -> phi pi of 0.173+/- 0.021 +/- 0.031. Taking the branching ratio for Ds -> phi pi as (3.6 +/- 0.9)% from the PDG, we extract f_{Ds} = (280 +/- 17 +/- 25 +/- 34){MeV}. Abstract: Using 13.4 $fb^{-1}$ of data collected with the CLEO detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have observed 300 events for the two-photon production of ground-state pseudo-scalar charmonium in the decay $\eta_c$ -> $K_S K^{\mp} \pi^{\pm}$. We have measured the $\eta_c$ mass to be (2980.4 +- 2.3 (stat) +- 0.6 (sys)) MeV and its full width as (27.0 +- 5.8 (stat) +- 1.4 (sys)) MeV. We have determined the two-photon partial width of the $\eta_c$ meson to be (7.6 +- 0.8 (stat) +- 0.4 (sys) +- 2.3 (br)) keV, with the last uncertainty associated with the decay branching fraction.

Abstract: Using the CLEO~II detector, we have measured the differential cross sections for exclusive two-photon production of light pseudoscalar mesons $\pi^0$, $\eta$, and $\eta^{\prime}$. From our measurements we have obtained the form factors associated with the electromagnetic transitions $\gamma^*\gamma$ $\to$ meson. We have measured these form factors in the momentum transfer ranges from 1.5 to 9, 20, and 30 GeV$^2$ for $\pi^0$, $\eta$, and $\eta^{\prime}$, respectively, and have made comparisons to various theoretical predictions., Comment: 30 page postscript file, postscript file also available through http://w4.lns.cornell.edu/public/CLNS

Abstract: We have measured the charge asymmetry in like-sign dilepton yields from B(0)B*(0) meson decays using the CLEO detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring. We find a(0)(ll) identical with[N(l(+)l(+))-N(l(-)l(-))]/[N(l(+)l(+))+N(l(-)l(-))] = +0.013+/-0.050+/-0.005. We combine this result with a previous, independent measurement and obtain Re(epsilon(B))/(1+ the absolute value of epsilon(B)(2)) = +0.0035+/-0.0103+/-0.0015 (uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively) for the CP impurity parameter, epsilon(B).

Abstract: The spectrum of charmed baryons consisting of a charmed quark and two light quarks denoted by Ac and σc baryons were investigated. The sample used in the investigation corresponds to an integrated luminosity 13.7/fb from the data taken on the Y(4S) resonance and in the continuum at energies just below the Y(4S). A broad state with an invariant mass roughly above 480 MeV above that of the Ac baryon and a narrow state with an invariant mass of 596 MeV above the Ac mass were found.

Abstract: Using 13.7 $fb^{-1}$ of data recorded by the CLEO detector at CESR, we report evidence for two new charmed baryons: one decaying into $\Xi_c^{0 \prime}\pi^+$ with the subsequent decay $\Xi_c^{0 \prime} \to \Xi_c^0 \gamma$, and its isospin partner decaying into $\Xi_c^{+ \prime} \pi^-$ followed by $\Xi_c^{+\prime} \to \Xi_c^+\gamma$. We measure the following mass differences for the two states: $M(\Xi_c^0 \gamma \pi^+)-M(\Xi_c^0)$=318.2+-1.3+-2.9 MeV, and $M(\Xi_c^+ \gamma \pi^-)-M(\Xi_c^+)$=324.0+-1.3+-3.0 MeV. We interpret these new states as the $J^P = 1/2^- \Xi_{c1}$ particles, the charmed-strange analogs of the $\Lambda_{c1}^+(2593)$.

Abstract: The CLEO experiment at the CESR collider has used 13.7 fb(-1) of data to search for the production of the Omega(0)(c) (css ground state) in e(+)e(-) collisions at square root of (s) approximately 10.6 GeV. The modes used to study the Omega(0)(c) are Omega(-)pi(+), Omega(-)pi(+)pi(0), Xi-K-pi(+)pi(+), Xi0K-pi(+), and Omega(-)pi(+)pi(+)pi(-). We observe a signal of 40.4+/-9.0(stat) events at a mass of 2694.6+/-2.6(stat)+/-1.9(syst) MeV/c(2), for all modes combined.

Abstract: We have studied two-body charmless hadronic decays of B mesons into the final states straight phiK and phiK(*). Using 9.7 million BB pairs collected with the CLEO II detector, we observe the decays B- --> phiK- and B0--> phiK(*0) with the following branching fractions: B(B--->phiK-) = (5.5(+2.1)(-1.8)+/-0.6)x10(-6) and B(B0--> phiK(*0)) = (11.5(+4.5+1.8)(-3.7-1.7))x10(-6). We also see evidence for the decays B0-->phiK0 and B---> phiK(*-). However, since the statistical significance is not overwhelming for these modes, we determine upper limits of

Abstract: We report the first observation of exclusive decays of the type B-->D(*)N_NX, where N is a nucleon. Using a sample of 9.7x10(6)B_B pairs collected with the CLEO detector operating at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we measure the branching fractions B(B0-->D(*-)p_p pi(+)) = (6.5(+1.3)(-1.2)+/-1.0)x10(-4) and B(B0-->D(*-)p_n) = (14.5(+3.4)(-3.0)+/-2.7)x10(-4). Antineutrons are identified by their annihilation in the CsI electromagnetic calorimeter.

Abstract: Using data recorded with the CLEO II and CLEO II.V detector configurations at the Cornell Electron Storage Rings, we report the first observation and mass measurement of the ${\ensuremath{\Sigma}}_{c}^{*+}$ charmed baryon, and an updated measurement of the mass of the ${\ensuremath{\Sigma}}_{c}^{+}$ baryon. We find $M({\ensuremath{\Sigma}}_{c}^{*+})\ensuremath{-}M({\ensuremath{\Lambda}}_{c}^{+})\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}(231.0\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.1\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}2.0)\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}\mathrm{MeV}$, and $M({\ensuremath{\Sigma}}_{c}^{+})\ensuremath{-}M({\ensuremath{\Lambda}}_{c}^{+})\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}(166.4\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.2\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.3)\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}\mathrm{MeV}$, where the errors are statistical and systematic, respectively.

Abstract: In a sample of $9.66\times 10^6 B\bar{B}$ pairs collected with the CLEO detector we make the first observation of B decays to an $\eta_c$ and a kaon. We measure branching fractions $BR(B^+\to\eta_c K^+) = (0.69 + 0.26 - 0.21 +- 0.08 +- 0.20)\times 10^{-3}$ and $BR(B^0\to\eta_c K^0) = (1.09 + 0.55 - 0.42 +- 0.12 +- 0.31)\times 10^{-3}$, where the first error is statistical, the second is systematic and the third is from the $\eta_c$ branching fraction uncertainty. From these we extract the $\eta_c$ decay constant in the factorization approximation, $f_{\eta_c} = 335 +- 75$ MeV. We also search for B decays to a $\chi_{c0}$ and a kaon. No evidence for a signal is found and we set 90% CL upper limits: $BR(B^+\to\chi_{c0} K^+) < 4.8\times 10^{-4}$ and $BR(B^0\to\chi_{c0} K^0) < 5.0\times 10^{-4}$.

Abstract: We search for CP-violating asymmetries (Acp) in the B meson decays to K+- pi-+, K+- pi0, Ks pi+-, K+- eta', and omega pi+-. Using 9.66 million Upsilon(4S) decays collected with the CLEO detector, the statistical precision on Acp is in the range of \pm 0.12 to \pm 0.25 depending on decay mode. While CP-violating asymmetries of up to \pm 0.5 are possible within the Standard Model, the measured asymmetries are consistent with zero in all five decay modes studied., 10 pages, 3 figures

Abstract: We present a search for direct CP violation in B{sup {+-}}{yields}J/{psi}K{sup {+-}} and B{sup {+-}}{yields}{psi}(2S)K{sup {+-}} decays. In a sample of 9.7x10{sup 6} BB meson pairs collected with the CLEO detector, we have fully reconstructed 534 B{sup {+-}}{yields}J/{psi} K{sup {+-}} and 120 B{sup {+-}}{yields}{psi}(2 S)K{sup {+-}} decays with very low background. We have measured the CP -violating charge asymmetry to be [+1.8{+-}4.3(stat){+-}0. 4(syst)]% for B{sup {+-}}{yields}J/{psi}K{sup {+-}} and [+2.0{+-}9.1(stat){+-}1. 0(syst)]% for B{sup {+-}}{yields}{psi}(2S)K{sup {+-}} . Abstract: We report results of a search for the rare radiative decay B(bar sign){sup 0}{yields}D{sup *0} {gamma} . Using 9.66x10{sup 6} BB(bar sign) meson pairs collected with the CLEO detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we set an upper limit on the branching ratio for this decay of 5.0x10{sup -5} at 90% C.L. This provides evidence that the anomalous enhancement is absent in W -exchange processes and that weak radiative B decays are dominated by the short-distance b{yields}s{gamma} mechanism in the standard model. Abstract: We have searched for the rare decays of the eta prime meson to e+ e- eta, e+ e- pizero, e+ e- gamma, and e mu in hadronic events at the CLEO II detector. The search is conducted on 4.80 fb^-1 of e+ e- collisions at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring. We find no signal in any of these modes, and set 90% confidence level upper limits on their branching fractions of 2.4 X 10^-3, 1.4 X 10^-3, 0.9 X 10^-3, and 4.7 X 10^-4, respectively. We also investigate the Dalitz plot of the common decay of the eta prime to pi+ pi- eta. We fit the matrix element with the Particle Data Group parameterization and find Re(alpha) = -0.021 +- 0.025, where alpha is a linear function of the kinetic energy of the eta.

Abstract: Using 13.7 fb(-1) of data recorded by the CLEO detector at Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we report evidence of two new charmed baryons: one decaying into Xi(0')(c)pi(+) with the subsequent decay Xi(0')(c)-->Xi(0)(c)gamma, and its isospin partner decaying into Xi(+')(c)pi(-) followed by Xi(+')(c)-->Xi(+)(c)gamma. We measure the following mass differences for the two states: M(Xi(0)(c)gammapi(+))-M(Xi(0)(c)) = 318.2+/-1.3+/-2.9 MeV and M(Xi(+)(c)gammapi(-))-M(Xi(+)(c)) = 324.0+/-1.3+/-3.0 MeV. We interpret these new states as the J(P) = 1 / 2(-) Xi(c1) particles, the charmed-strange analogs of the Lambda(+)(c1)(2593).

Abstract: We have observed four fully reconstructed B{sup 0}{r_arrow}D{sup {asterisk}+}D{sup {asterisk}{minus}} candidates in 5.8{times}10{sup 6} {Upsilon}(4S){r_arrow}B{ovr B} decays recorded with the CLEO detector. The background is estimated to be 0.31{plus_minus}0.10 thinspthinspevents. The probability that the background could produce four or more signal candidates with the observed distribution among D{sup {asterisk}+} and D{sup {asterisk}{minus}} decay modes is 1.1{times}10{sup {minus}4} . The measured decay rate, B(B{sup 0}{r_arrow}D{sup {asterisk}+}D{sup {asterisk} {minus}})=[6.2{sup +4.0}{sub {minus}2.9}( stat){plus_minus}1.0(syst) ]{times}10{sup {minus}4} , is large enough for this decay mode to be of interest for the measurement of a time-dependent CP asymmetry. {copyright} {ital 1999} {ital The American Physical Society}

Abstract: We report the first observation of two narrow charmed strange baryons decaying to {Xi}{sup +}{sub c}{gamma} and {Xi}{sup 0}{sub c}{gamma} , respectively, using data from the CLEO II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring. We interpret the observed signals as the {Xi}{sup +{prime}}{sub c}thinsp( c{l_brace}su{r_brace}) and {Xi}{sup 0{prime}}{sub c}thinsp( c{l_brace}sd{r_brace}) , the symmetric partners of the well-established antisymmetric {Xi}{sup +}{sub c}thinsp(c[ su]) and {Xi}{sup 0}{sub c}thinsp(c[ sd]) . The mass differences M({Xi}{sup +{prime}}{sub c}){minus}M( {Xi}{sup +}{sub c}) and M({Xi}{sup 0{prime}}{sub c}){minus}M( {Xi}{sup 0}{sub c}) have been measured to be 107.8{plus_minus}1.7{plus_minus}2.5 and 107.0{plus_minus}1.4{plus_minus}2.5 MeV /c{sup 2} , respectively. {copyright} {ital 1999} {ital The American Physical Society }

Abstract: The decay {tau}{sup {minus}}{r_arrow}K{sup {asterisk}{minus}}{eta}{nu}{sub {tau}} has been observed with the CLEOthinspthinspII detector. The K{sup {asterisk}{minus}} is reconstructed in two decay channels, K{sup {asterisk}{minus}}{r_arrow}K{sub S}{pi}{sup {minus}}{r_arrow} {pi}{sup {minus}}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup {minus}} and K{sup {asterisk}{minus}}{r_arrow}K{sup {minus}}{pi}{sup 0} . The {eta} is reconstructed from the decay {eta}{r_arrow}{gamma}{gamma} . The measured branching fraction is B({tau}{sup {minus}}{r_arrow}K{sup {asterisk}{minus}} {eta}{nu}{sub {tau}})=(2.9{plus_minus} 0.8{plus_minus}0.4){times}10{sup {minus}4} . We also measure the inclusive branching fractions without requiring the K{sup {asterisk}} resonance, B({tau}{sup {minus}}{r_arrow}K{sub S}{pi}{sup {minus}}{eta}{nu}{sub {tau}})=(1.10 {plus_minus}0.35{plus_minus}0.11){times}10{sup {minus}4} and B({tau}{sup {minus}}{r_arrow}K{sup {minus}}{pi}{sup 0}{eta}{nu}{sub {tau}})=(1.77 {plus_minus}0.56{plus_minus}0.71){times}10{sup {minus}4} . The results indicate that the K{sup {asterisk}{minus}} resonance dominates the K{sub S}{pi}{sup {minus}} mass spectrum. {copyright} {ital 1999} {ital The American Physical Society}

No evidence for a signal is found in 4.77fb−1 of data and a 95% C.L. upper limit on [τγγBπ+π−]fJ(2220) of 2.5 eV is set. If this result is combined with the BES Collaboration's measurement of fJ(2220)→π+π− in radiative J/Ψ decay and the recent CLEO result for [τγγBK0SK0S]fJ(2220), a 95% C.L. lower limit on the stickiness of 102 is obtained. This result for the stickiness provides further support for a substantial neutral parton content in the fJ(2220). © 1998 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We report the first observation of B{r_arrow}{eta}{sup {prime}}X transitions with high momentum {eta}{sup {prime}} mesons. We observe 39.0{plus_minus}11.6 B decay events with 2.0{lt}p{sub {eta}{sup {prime}}}{lt}2.7 GeV/c , the high momentum region where background from b{r_arrow}c processes is suppressed. We discuss the physical interpretation of the signal, including the possibility that it is due to b{r_arrow}sg{sup {asterisk}} transitions. Given that interpretation, we find B(B{r_arrow}{eta}{sup {prime}}X{sub s} )=[6.2{plus_minus}1.6(stat){plus_minus} 1.3(syst){sup +0.0}{sub {minus}1.5} (bkg)]{times}10{sup {minus}4} for 2.0{lt}p{sub {eta}{sup {prime}}}{lt}2.7 GeV/c . {copyright} {ital 1998} {ital The American Physical Society }

Abstract: We have searched for two-body charmless decays of B mesons to purely hadronic exclusive final states including $\omega$ or $\phi$ mesons using data collected with the CLEO II detector. With this sample of $6.6 \times 10^6$ B mesons we observe a signal for the $\omega K^+$ final state, and measure a branching fraction of B($B^+ \to \omega K^+$) = 1.5 +0.7 -0.6 +-0.2 $\times 10^{-5}$. We also observe some evidence for the $\phi K^*$ final state, and upper limits are given for 22 other decay modes. These results provide the opportunity for studies of theoretical models and physical parameters.

Abstract: We have observed the decay ${B}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\overline{D}}^{0}{K}^{+}$, using $3.3\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{6}$ $B\overline{B}$ pairs collected with the CLEO II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring. We find the ratio of branching fractions $R\ensuremath{\equiv}B({B}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\overline{D}}^{0}{K}^{+})/B({B}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\overline{D}}^{0}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+})\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}0.055\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.014\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.005$.

Abstract: Using 3.1 fb$^{-1}$ of data accumulated at the $\Upsilon$(4S) by the CLEO-II detector, corresponding to 3.3 million $B\bar{B}$ pairs, we have searched for the color-suppressed $B$ hadronic decay processes: $\bar{B}^0 \to D^0 (D^{*0}) X^0$, where $X^0$ is a light neutral meson $\pi^0$, $\rho^0$, $\eta$, $\eta'$ or $\omega$. No obvious signal is observed. We set 90 % C.L. upper limits on these modes, varying from $1.2 \times 10^{-4}$ for $\bar{B}^0 \to D^0 \pi^0$ to $1.9 \times 10^{-3}$ for $\bar{B}^0 \to D^{*0} \eta'$.

Abstract: In a sample of 6.6×10^6 produced B mesons we have observed decays B→η′K, with branching fractions B(B^+→η′K^+) = (6.5_(-1.4)^(+1.5)±0.9)×10^(-5) and B(B^0→η′K^0) = (4.7_(-2.0)^(+2.7)±0.9)×10^(-5). We have searched with comparable sensitivity for 17 related decays to final states containing an η or η′ meson accompanied by a single particle or low-lying resonance. Our upper limits for these constrain theoretical interpretations of the B→η′K signal.

Abstract: We have searched for the decay $\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{B}{D}_{s1}^{+}(2536)X$ and measured an upper limit for the inclusive branching fraction of $\mathcal{B}(\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{B}{D}_{s1}^{+}X)l0.96%$ at the 90% confidence level. This limit is small compared with the total expected $\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{B}{D}^{(*)}{D}^{(*)}\mathrm{KX}$ rate. Assuming factorization, the ${D}_{s1}^{+}$ decay constant is constrained to be ${f}_{{D}_{s1}^{+}}$114 MeV at the 90% confidence level, at least 2.5 times smaller than that of ${D}_{s}^{+}$.

Abstract: Using the CLEO detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have made a measurement of R≡σ(e^+e^-→hadrons)/σ(e^+e^-→μ^+μ^-)=3.56±0.01±0.07 at √s=10.52 GeV. This implies a value for the strong coupling constant of α_s(10.52 GeV)=0.20±0.01±0.06, or α_s(MZ)=0.13±0.005±0.03.

Abstract: We use the CLEO detector at the Cornell e{sup +}e{sup {minus}} storage ring, CESR, to search for the two-photon production of the glueball candidate f{sub J}(2220) in its decay to K{sub s}K{sub s} . We present a restrictive upper limit on the product of the two-photon partial width and the K{sub s}K{sub s} branching fraction, ({Gamma}{sub {gamma}{gamma}}B{sub K{sub s}K{sub s}}){sub f{sub J(2220) }} . We use this limit to calculate a lower limit on the stickiness, which is a measure of the two-gluon coupling relative to the two-photon coupling. Abstract: We report new measurements of the differential and total branching ratios for inclusive B decay to D{sup 0}, D{sup +}, and D{sup *+} and the first measurement of the same quantities for inclusive B decay to D{sup *0}. Here B is the mixture of B{sub d} and B{sub u} from {Upsilon}(4S) decay. Furthermore, since more than one charm particle (or antiparticle) of the same kind can be produced in B decay, here {open_quotes}inclusive B branching ratio{close_quotes} is used to mean the average number of charm particles and their antiparticles of a certain species produced in B decay. We obtain the following results (the first error is statistical, the second systematic of this analysis, the third propagated from other measurements): B(B{r_arrow}D{sup 0}X)=(0.636{plus_minus}0.014{plus_minus}0.019{plus_minus}0.0 8), B(B{r_arrow}D{sup +}X)=(0.235{plus_minus}0.009{plus_minus}0.009{plus_minus}0.024), B(B{r_arrow}D{sup *0}X) =(0.247{plus_minus}0.012{plus_minus}0.018{plus_minus}0.018), B(B{r_arrow}D{sup *+}X)=(0.239{plus_minus}0.011{plus_minus}0.014{plus_minus}0. 09). The following ratio of branching ratios is not affected by most of the systematic errors: B(B{r_arrow}D{sup *0}X)/ B(B{r_arrow}D{sup *+}X)=(1.03{plus_minus}0.07{plus_minus}0.09{plus_minus}0.08). We also report the first measurement of the momentum-dependent D{sup *0} polarization and a new measurement of the D{sup *+} polarization in inclusive B decay. Using these measurements and other CLEO results and making some additional assumptions, we calculate the average number of c and {bar c} quarks produced in Bmore » decay to be {l_angle}n{sub c}{r_angle}=1.10{plus_minus}0.05. {copyright} {ital 1997} {ital The American Physical Society}« less

Abstract: Using data collected with the CLEO II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we determine the ratio R{sub chrg} for the mean charged multiplicity observed in {Upsilon}(1S){r_arrow}gg{gamma} events, {l_angle}n{sub gluon}{sup {plus_minus}}{r_angle}, to the mean charged multiplicity observed in e{sup +}e{sup {minus}}{r_arrow}q{bar q}{gamma} events, {l_angle}n{sub quark}{sup {plus_minus}}{r_angle}. We find R{sub chrg}{equivalent_to}{l_angle}n{sub gluon}{sup {plus_minus}}{r_angle}/{l_angle}n{sub quark}{sup {plus_minus}}{r_angle}=1.04 {plus_minus}0.02(stat){plus_minus}0.05(syst) for jet-jet masses less than 7 GeV. {copyright} {ital 1997} {ital The American Physical Society}

Abstract: Using data taken with the CLEO II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have determined the ratio of branching fractions: ${R}_{\ensuremath{\gamma}}\ensuremath{\equiv}\ensuremath{\Gamma}(\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(1S)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}\mathrm{gg})/\ensuremath{\Gamma}(\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(1S)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\mathrm{ggg})=[2.75\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.04(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.15(\mathrm{syst})]%$. From this ratio, we have determined the QCD scale parameter ${\ensuremath{\Lambda}}_{\overline{\mathrm{MS}}}$ (defined in the modified minimal subtraction scheme) to be ${\ensuremath{\Lambda}}_{\overline{\mathrm{MS}}}=233\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}11\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}59$ MeV, from which we determine a value for the strong coupling constant ${\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{s}{(M}_{\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(1S)})=0.163\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.002\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.014$, or ${\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{s}{(M}_{Z})=0.110\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.001\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.007$.

Abstract: The beauty to up quark coupling constant |V(ub)| can be extracted from B → ρ e+ ν(e) combined with the form factors for D → K* e+ ν(e) and B → V l+ l- and D → ρ e+ ν(e). Using the entire CLEO-c ψ(3770) → DD event sample, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 818 pb(-1) and approximately 5.4×10(6) DD events, we measure the form factors for the decays D0 → ρ- e+ ν(e) and D+ → ρ0 e+ ν(e) for the first time and the branching fractions with improved precision. A four-dimensional unbinned maximum likelihood fit determines the form factor ratios to be V(0)/A1(0)=1.48±0.15±0.05 and A2(0)/A1(0)=0.83±0.11±0.04. Assuming Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa unitarity, the known D meson lifetimes, and our measured branching fractions we obtain the form factor normalizations A1(0), A2(0), and V(0). We also present a measurement of the branching fraction for D+ → ω e+ ν(e) with improved precision.

Abstract: Using the angular correlation between the ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$ emitted in a ${D}^{*+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}^{0}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$ decay and the ${e}^{+}$ emitted in the subsequent ${D}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}X{e}^{+}\ensuremath{\nu}$ decay, we have measured the branching fraction for the inclusive semielectronic decay of the ${D}^{0}$ meson to be $\mathcal{B}({D}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}X{e}^{+}\ensuremath{\nu})=[6.64\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.18(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.29(\mathrm{syst})]%$. The measurement uses 1.7 ${\mathrm{fb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ of ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ collisions recorded by the CLEO II detector located at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR). Combining this result with previous CLEO results we find $\frac{\mathcal{B}({D}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}X{e}^{+}\ensuremath{\nu})}{\mathcal{B}({D}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+})}=1.684\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.056(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.093(\mathrm{syst})$ and $\frac{\mathcal{B}({D}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}{e}^{+}\ensuremath{\nu})}{\mathcal{B}({D}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}X{e}^{+}\ensuremath{\nu})}=0.581\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.023(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.028(\mathrm{syst})$. The difference between this inclusive rate and the sum of the measured exclusive branching fractions (measured at CLEO and other experiments) is also presented.

Abstract: We analyze a sample of $3\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{6}$ quantum-correlated ${D}^{0}{\overline{D}}^{0}$ pairs from $818\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{pb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ of ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ collision data collected with the CLEO-c detector at ${E}_{\mathrm{cm}}=3.77\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}$, to give an updated measurement of $\mathrm{cos} \ensuremath{\delta}$ and a first determination of $\mathrm{sin} \ensuremath{\delta}$, where $\ensuremath{\delta}$ is the relative strong phase between doubly Cabibbo-suppressed ${D}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ and Cabibbo-favored ${\overline{D}}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ decay amplitudes. With no inputs from other experiments, we find $\mathrm{cos} \ensuremath{\delta}={0.81}_{\ensuremath{-}0.18\ensuremath{-}0.05}^{+0.22+0.07}$, $\mathrm{sin} \ensuremath{\delta}=\ensuremath{-}0.01\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.41\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.04$, and $|\ensuremath{\delta}|=({10}_{\ensuremath{-}53\ensuremath{-}0}^{+28+13})\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}$. By including external measurements of mixing parameters, we find alternative values of $\mathrm{cos} \ensuremath{\delta}={1.15}_{\ensuremath{-}0.17\ensuremath{-}0.08}^{+0.19+0.00}$, $\mathrm{sin} \ensuremath{\delta}={0.56}_{\ensuremath{-}0.31\ensuremath{-}0.20}^{+0.32+0.21}$, and $\ensuremath{\delta}=({18}_{\ensuremath{-}17}^{+11})\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}$. Our results can be used to improve the world average uncertainty on the mixing parameter $y$ by approximately 10%.

Abstract: Using the CLEO II detector we measure B(D s + Ⅵηe + ν)/B(D s + Ⅵφe + ν)=1.24±0.12±0.15, B(D s + Ⅵη ′ e + ν)/B(D s + Ⅵφe + ν)=0.43±0.11±0.07, and B(D s + Ⅵη ′ e + ν)/B(D s + Ⅵηe + ν)=0.35±0.09±0.07. We find the ratio of vector to pseudoscalar final states, B(D s + Ⅵφe + ν)/B(D s + Ⅵ(η+η ′ )e + ν)=0.60±0.06±0.06, which is similar to the ratio found in nonstrange D decays.

Abstract: Using 586 $\textrm{pb}^{-1}$ of $e^{+}e^{-}$ collision data acquired at $\sqrt{s}=4.170$ GeV with the CLEO-c detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we report the first observation of $D_{s}^{*+} \to D_{s}^{+} e^{+} e^{-}$ with a significance of $5.3 \sigma$. The ratio of branching fractions $\calB(D_{s}^{*+} \to D_{s}^{+} e^{+} e^{-}) / \calB(D_{s}^{*+} \to D_{s}^{+} \gamma)$ is measured to be $[ 0.72^{+0.15}_{-0.13} (\textrm{stat}) \pm 0.10 (\textrm{syst})]%$, which is consistent with theoretical expectations.

Abstract: The first flavor-tagged amplitude analysis of the decay D0 to the self-conjugate final state K+K-pi+pi- is presented. Data from the CLEO II.V, CLEO III, and CLEO-c detectors are used, from which around 3000 signal decays are selected. The three most significant amplitudes, which contribute to the model that best fits the data, are phirho0, K1(1270)+-K-+, and non-resonant K+K-pi+pi-. Separate amplitude analyses of D0 and D0-bar candidates indicate no CP violation among the amplitudes at the level of 5% to 30% depending on the mode. In addition, the sensitivity to the CP-violating parameter gamma/phi3 of a sample of 2000 B+ -> D0-tilde(K+K-pi+pi-)K+ decays, where D0-tilde is a D0 or D0-bar, collected at LHCb or a future flavor facility, is estimated to be (11.3 +/- 0.3) degrees using the favored model.

Abstract: The first measurements of the coherence factor ${R}_{{K}_{S}^{0}K\ensuremath{\pi}}$ and the average strong-phase difference ${\ensuremath{\delta}}_{D}^{{K}_{S}^{0}K\ensuremath{\pi}}$ in ${D}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}_{S}^{0}{K}^{\ensuremath{\mp}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}$ decays are reported. These parameters can be used to improve the determination of the unitary triangle angle $\ensuremath{\gamma}$ in ${B}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\stackrel{\texttildelow{}}{D}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ decays, where $\stackrel{\texttildelow{}}{D}$ is either a ${D}^{0}$ or a ${\overline{D}}^{0}$ meson decaying to the same final state, and also in studies of charm mixing. The measurements of the coherence factor and strong-phase difference are made using quantum-correlated, fully reconstructed ${D}^{0}{\overline{D}}^{0}$ pairs produced in ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ collisions at the $\ensuremath{\psi}(3770)$ resonance. The measured values are ${R}_{{K}_{S}^{0}K\ensuremath{\pi}}=0.73\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.08$ and ${\ensuremath{\delta}}_{D}^{{K}_{S}^{0}K\ensuremath{\pi}}=(8.3\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}15.2)\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}$ for an unrestricted kinematic region and ${R}_{{K}^{*}K}=1.00\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.16$ and ${\ensuremath{\delta}}_{D}^{{K}^{*}K}=(26.5\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}15.8)\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}$ for a region where the combined ${K}_{S}^{0}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}$ invariant mass is within $100\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{MeV}/{c}^{2}$ of the ${K}^{*}(892{)}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}$ mass. These results indicate a significant level of coherence in the decay. In addition, isobar models are presented for the two decays, which show the dominance of the ${K}^{*}(892{)}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}$ resonance. The branching ratio $\mathcal{B}({D}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}_{S}^{0}{K}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}})/\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}\mathcal{B}({D}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}_{S}^{0}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+})$ is determined to be $0.592\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.044(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.018(\mathrm{syst})$, which is more precise than previous measurements.

Abstract: Using a data sample of 2.59 x 10^7 psi(2S) decays obtained with the CLEO-c detector, we perform amplitude analyses of the complementary decay chains chi_c1 -> eta pi+ pi- and chi_c1 -> eta' pi+ pi-. We find evidence for a P-wave eta' pi scattering amplitude, which, if interpreted as a resonance, would have exotic J^PC = 1^-+ and parameters consistent with the pi_1(1600) state reported in other production mechanisms. We also make the first observation of the decay a_0(980) -> eta' pi and measure the ratio of branching fractions B(a_0(980) -> eta' pi)/B(a_0(980) -> eta pi) = 0.064 +- 0.014 +- 0.014. The pi pi spectrum produced with a recoiling eta is compared to that with eta' recoil.

Abstract: We present the results of a Dalitz plot analysis of ${D}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}_{S}^{0}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ using the CLEO-c data set of $818\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{pb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ of ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ collisions accumulated at $\sqrt{s}=3.77\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}$. This corresponds to $3\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{6}$ ${D}^{0}{\overline{D}}^{0}$ pairs from which we select 1259 tagged candidates with a background of $7.5\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.9$ percent. Several models have been explored, all of which include the ${K}^{*}(892)$, ${K}_{2}^{*}(1430)$, ${K}^{*}(1680)$, the ${f}_{0}(980)$, and the $\ensuremath{\sigma}(500)$. We find that the combined ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ $S$-wave contribution to our preferred fit is $(28.9\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}6.3\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}3.1)%$ of the total decay rate while ${D}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\overline{K}}^{*}(892{)}^{0}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ contributes $(65.6\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}5.3\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}2.5)%$. Using three tag modes and correcting for quantum correlations we measure the ${D}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}_{S}^{0}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ branching fraction to be $(1.058\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.038\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.073)%$.

Abstract: Using ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ collision data corresponding to $5.88\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{6}\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(3S)$ [$25.9\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{6}\ensuremath{\psi}(2S)$] decays and acquired by the CLEO III [CLEO-c] detectors operating at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we study the single-pion transitions from $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(3S)[\ensuremath{\psi}(2S)]$ to the respective spin-singlet states ${h}_{b[c]}$. Utilizing only the momentum of suitably selected transition-${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ candidates, we obtain the upper limit $\mathcal{B}(\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(3S)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}{h}_{b})l1.2\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}3}$ at 90% confidence level, and measure $\mathcal{B}(\ensuremath{\psi}(2S)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}{h}_{c})=(9.0\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.5\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.3)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}4}$. Signal sensitivities are enhanced by excluding very asymmetric ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}\ensuremath{\gamma}$ candidates.

Abstract: We report the first observation of the decay ${D}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\eta}}^{\ensuremath{'}}{e}^{+}{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{e}$ in two analyses, which combined provide a branching fraction of $\mathcal{B}({D}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\eta}}^{\ensuremath{'}}{e}^{+}{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{e})=(2.16\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.53\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.07)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}4}$. We also provide an improved measurement of $\mathcal{B}({D}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\eta}{e}^{+}{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{e})=(11.4\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.9\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.4)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}4}$, provide the first form factor measurement, and set the improved upper limit $\mathcal{B}({D}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\phi}{e}^{+}{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{e})l0.9\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}4}$ (90%C.L.).

Abstract: Using 586 pb(-1) of e+ e- collision data at E(c.m.) = 4170 MeV, produced at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring collider and collected with the CLEO-c detector, we observe the process e+ e- → π+ π- h(c)(1P). We measure its cross section to be 15.6±2.3±1.9±3.0 pb, where the third error is due to the external uncertainty on the branching fraction of ψ(2S) → π0 h(c)(1P), which we use for normalization. We also find evidence for e+ e- → ηh(c)(1P) at 4170 MeV at the 3σ level and see hints of a rise in the e+ e- → π+ π- h(c)(1P) cross section at 4260 MeV.

Abstract: We present the first search for the decay ${D}_{s}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\omega}{e}^{+}\ensuremath{\nu}$ to test the four-quark content of the ${D}_{s}^{+}$ and the $\ensuremath{\omega}\mathrm{\text{\ensuremath{-}}}\ensuremath{\phi}$ mixing model for this decay. We use $586\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{pb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ of ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ collision data collected at a center-of-mass energy of 4170 MeV. We find no evidence of a signal, and set an upper limit on the branching fraction of $\mathcal{B}({D}_{s}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\omega}{e}^{+}\ensuremath{\nu})l0.20%$ at the 90% confidence level.
