The compromise policy of the Russian government served Ignatiyev as a cover for his obvious favour to the Bulgarian side, with the goal of achieving not only church but also political independence of Bulgaria. During the Greek-Bulgarian religious conflict, the Russian ambassador had a high degree of freedom in his independent actions. The motives of all participants in the dispute corresponded more to a political than to an ecclesiastical struggle. He also considered the Proclamation of the Bulgarian Exarchy a personal triumph, which he interpreted as a victory for the Slavs in Turkey, while it was actually a victory for the Bulgarian side. The proclamation of the Bulgarian Exarchate, and not long after, the schism, permanently changed the relations between Russia and the Patriarchate of Constantinople.

Ce travail propose une réflexion sur les seuils métaphoriques du livre (son vestibule, ses portes de passage ou de clôture), en vue d’approfondir sur la conception du livre lui- même, ses fonctions et les problèmes de commercialisation, de création et de poétique des auteurs. D’abord, on analyse le livre en tant que porte ou moyen pour atteindre la sagesse et la vérité. Ensuite, on montre comment les paratextes littéraires, c’est-à-dire les portes du livre, nous indiquent la poétique des auteurs, ainsi que l’évolution de leur projet littéraire. Finalement, on expose comment un livre polémique, sous la forme d’une lettre, renferme la défense d’une auteure, à travers son autobiographie, et ouvre la porte à son intimité. Les exemples sont tirés des auteurs suivants : Don Juan Manuel, Sebastián Mey, Francisco Gutiérrez de los Ríos, Baltasar Gracián, Miguel de Cervantes, Lope de Vega, María de Zayas y Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz.

O objetivo do presente trabalho foi identificar fatores considerados de risco, como raça, idade, sexo, peso corporal e castração em cães que sofreram ruptura do ligamento cruzado cranial (RLCCr), atendidos no Hovet Universidade Anhembi Morumbi.Foram pesquisadas as fichas dos cães com RLCCr atendidos no período de 2009 a 2015. Neste período foram atendidos 382 animais com RLCCr, dos quais 189 fêmeas e 193 machos. Não houve diferença estatisticamente significativa entre machos e fêmeas com RLCCr, entre idade da ruptura, entre os sexos e entre intervalo da castração e RLCCr, mas houve diferença estatisticamente significativa na idade à ruptura dos animais com peso acima de 20 kg em relação aos demais. Concluiu-se que há influência do peso do animal na ocorrência da RLCCr, pois animais com mais de 20 kg apresentaram a RLCCr com uma idade inferior à dos animais de porte menor. As raças mais acometidas pela RLCCr foram Pitbull, Poodle, Fila Brasileiro, Yorkshire, Rotweiler, Labrador e Lhasa Apso. Como neste estudo não houve atendimento de animais castrados antes da puberdade que apresentaram RLCCr, faz-se necessária a pesquisa da influência da castraçãog em animais pré-púberes na ocorrência de RLCCr.

The article analyses the attack of Ulcinj (Ulqin) pirates, otherwise the Ottoman sultan's subjects, on British trade ship Adventure, on spring of 1718, in waters near the Albanian city Durazzo. The incident provoked diplomatic and commercial disputes, revealing the interests and functions of Ottoman, British and Venetian institutions. The reports from British representatives from the Venice and the Ottoman Empire describe the details of the attacks, and then the procedures that British merchants and diplomatic representatives had to undertake in attempts to restore the abducted goods and the ship. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar se progênies de feijoeiro de porte ereto e prostrado de um mesmo grupo gênico apresentam o mesmo potencial produtivo. Realizaram-se cruzamentos entre uma cultivar de porte prostrado e três de porte ereto, e foram obtidas três populações até a geração F5, quando foi realizada a seleção de plantas eretas e prostradas de cada população. Essas plantas foram avaliadas em experimentos distintos. Nas gerações F5:6 F5:7 e F5:8, foram avaliados o porte da planta, com notas de 1 (ereta) a 9 (prostrada), e a produtividade de grãos. Foram estimados os ganhos esperados quanto à seleção para porte e a resposta correlacionada à produtividade de grãos, além dos ganhos quanto à seleção para produtividade de grãos e a resposta correlacionada ao porte. A correlação entre melhor porte e produtividade de grãos foi pequena e negativa. É possível selecionar progênies de feijoeiro, simultaneamente, para obtenção de maior produtividade e de melhor arquitetura.The objective of this work was to evaluate if progenies with erect and prostrate plant habit, from the same genetic pool, have the same yield potential. Crosses between a prostrate and three erect cultivars were made yielding three populations up to the F5 generation. In this generation, erect and prostrate plants from each population were selected and evaluated in separate experiments. Generations F5:6 F5:7 and F5:8 were evaluated for plant architecture, in a scale from 1 (erect) to 9 (prostrate) and for grain yield. The expected gain for selection for plant habit and the correlated response in grain yield, as well as gain from selection for grain yield with the correlated response in plant habit were estimated. The correlation between selection for better plant habit and grain yield was low and negative. It is possible to select common bean progenies simultaneously for yield and plant habit.

Foram utilizados 12 novilhos 5/8 Nelore 3/8 Charolês, com média de 22 meses de idade (660 dias). Na entrada do confinamento, os animais foram divididos em duas categorias, conforme a idade inicial ao confinamento: animais leves - peso vivo (PV) inicial de 362,67 kg; e animais pesados - peso vivo inicial de 441,83 kg. O peso de abate determinado para ambos os grupos foi de 500 kg. Os animais foram alimentados com silagem de milho e concentrado (relação 60:40). Os pesos iniciais aumentaram o tempo de confinamento, uma vez que os animais leves permaneceram no confinamento 94 dias e os pesados, 30 dias. Os animais leves tiveram portes iniciais e finais menores e apresentaram carcaças com maior espessura de gordura. O costilhar foi o único corte comercial influenciado pelo peso inicial. Animais mais pesados ao início do confinamento apresentaram maior porcentagem de traseiro e menor de costilhar. A quantidade de músculo foi maior nos animais mais pesados. O menor peso inicial resultou em animais de menor porte e com menor altura de garupa, maior espessura de gordura na carcaça e no costilhar e menor quantidade de traseiro e músculo. As características da carne não foram influenciadas pelos pesos ao início do confinamento.Twelve 5/8 Nellore 3/8 Charolais steers were used, with 22 months (660 days) of age. The animals were feedlot finished and divided into two categories: light animals - initial feedlot live weight (LW) of 362.67 kg and heavy animals - initial feedlot LW of 441.33 kg. The slaughter weight established was of 500 kg. The animals were fed a 60:40 ratio corn silage and concentrate diet. The different initial weights at the finishing increased the feedlot time, since light animals were kept for 94 days and heavy animals for 30 days. Light animals had lower initial and final frames and showed higher fat thickness. The unique commercial cut that suffered influence from initial weights was sidecut. Heavy animals presented higher sawcut and lower quantity of sidecut. Heavy animals had higher muscle quantity. The lower initial weight generated animals with lower frame size and crupper height, carcasses with higher fat thickness and sidecut, lower sawcut and muscle quantity. Meat characteristics were not influenced by the different initial weights at finishing.

Reducing the amount of air infiltration through the doorways of food storage rooms would improve temperature control and the overall economics of food storage. In the UK a joint government/industry supported LINK project has been set up to look at methods of reducing air infiltration. The project is combining direct experimental measurement with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling. A CFD model of air movement through a doorway has been developed and verified against conventional and laser Doppler anemometry (LDA) measurements. The CFD model has been shown to be generally accurate, however, there are areas where the accuracy is less than perfect. For example the CFD model predicted the shape of the vertical profile accurately, although it under-predicted the maximum velocity by 0.1 m s−1 and it predicted the height at which the airflow changed direction to be 40 mm lower than was measured by the LDA.
