The COVID-19 pandemic has become one of the most controversial issues in recent years. The pandemic’s impact on argumentation skills, crucial for science teachers, needs exploration to understand its effects on how they evaluate evidence and engage in discussions. This study investigated how biology pre-service teachers’ (PSTs) argumentation quality changed over the pandemic’s first two months of social distancing and quarantine. Using qualitative and quantitative methodologies, data were collected through semi-structured interviews, and Toulmin’s Argument Pattern (TAP) was employed to evaluate the arguments. Initially, nearly half of the participants demonstrated low-level arguments. However, during the second round of interviews, a decrease in Level 1 and 2 arguments and an increase in Level 3 arguments were observed. The observed improvements in argumentation quality, particularly in the use of counterclaims, warrants, and rebuttals, underscore the role of increased familiarity with the issue and exposure to diverse information sources. These findings suggest that real-life contexts, such as the pandemic, offer opportunities for PSTs to develop more sophisticated argumentation skills when exposed to multiple perspectives and ongoing engagement with the topic. Understanding these changes can inform teaching strategies and teacher training programmes, especially during global crises. Ocular strabismus, a common condition in the present generation is an absolute risk factor for amblyopia and blinding premorbid visual loss. Despite the availability of new optometry tools with eye-tracking data, the issues persist in attaining accuracy and reliability in diagnosing strabismus. Abstract Background While foreign migrants contribute to economic development, they may impact public health by transmitting communicable diseases to the local population. With its geopolitical position, Thailand has been a primary destination for migrants from neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia and beyond. This positioning makes it a focal point for examining the complexities of migration dynamics and its implications for public health. Through a quantitative analysis, this paper investigates the influence of foreign migrants on physical health issues in Thailand, exploring their impact on various types of communicable diseases. The utilization of provincial-level data from Thailand offers insights into the localized effects of migrant populations on public health within the country. These insights can serve as a valuable resource for researchers and policymakers who conduct comparative analyses, facilitating a deeper understanding of the complex relationship between international migration and public health worldwide. Methods A spatial panel autoregressive model (SAR) is applied on the provincial level communicable diseases and socio-economic data in Thailand from the period 2016 to 2021. Results The results indicate that the influence of foreign migrants on communicable diseases in Thailand varies depending on the type of disease. While an increase in migrants correlates with a higher prevalence of respiratory and other communicable diseases, it conversely reduces the prevalence of vaccine-preventable diseases. Additionally, we found that migrants do not significantly impact the prevalence of food- and water-borne diseases, insect-borne diseases, animal-borne diseases, or sexually transmitted diseases in Thailand. Additionally, other factors, such as GPP per capita, unemployment, poverty, and technology access, strongly correlate with most types of communicable diseases. Conclusion As revealed by this study, the increase in migrants leads to a rise in respiratory and other communicable diseases, as well as a decrease in vaccine-preventable diseases, which carries significant policy implications. These results urge policymakers, the Ministry of Labour, and the Ministry of Public Health to implement tailored policies and measures to enhance public health and effectively mitigate the risk of communicable diseases transmitted by migrants in the future.

The items collected demographic information and assessed intolerance of uncertainty, perceived stress, rumination, and mobile phone addiction. A total of 249 respondents completed the questionnaire.Results: The findings suggest a considerably high risk of mobile phone addiction in the study period among overseas Chinese students, as three-fourths of the participants may have been susceptible to mobile phone addiction according to the suggested cut-off point of the Chinese version of the Smartphone Addiction Scale–Short Form. Intolerance of uncertainty showed a significant positive direct effect on mobile phone addiction. The mediation analyses suggest that intolerance of uncertainty affected mobile phone addiction mainly through three pathways: the mediating effect of perceived stress, the mediating effect of rumination, and the chain mediating effect of perceived stress and rumination.Conclusion: This study enhances understanding of mobile phone addiction among Chinese overseas students and suggests the mediating roles of rumination and perceived stress in the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty and mobile phone addiction. Background: The prioritization of the One Health approach remains lacking in countries like Nepal, where the urgency to tackle this issue has yet to be acknowledged. It is imperative to incentivize rural farmers to enhance the well-being of their crops and livestock for the sake of fostering truly sustainable agriculture. This approach not only aligns with economic sensibility but also paves the way for a more enduring and resilient economy in the long run. By disseminating knowledge about One Health and executing the One Health National Strategy, Nepal stands to enhance its overall health landscape and set a precedent for other South Asian nations. Beyond immediate financial gains, stakeholders including farmers, policymakers, and consumers must adopt a forward-thinking perspective, integrating the One Health approach into their practices to facilitate a sustainable developmental trajectory. Recent research has highlighted the link between childhood obesity, dental caries, and malocclusion, and how the Coronavirus Disease - 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic and social media have worsened these health issues. Increased screentime and decreased physical activity during the pandemic have significantly contributed to these conditions among children. Studies emphasise the need to address common risk factors such as unhealthy diets, limited healthcare access, and poor public health policies to reduce their negative effects. This review explores the complex relationship between childhood obesity, dental caries, and malocclusion, with a focus on their global importance. It examines the connections and shared risk factors between these conditions, particularly in the context of the pandemic and the growing influence of social media on children. The goal is to provide insights for developing effective interventions and management strategies to improve children's health worldwide. The present review stresses the urgent need for comprehensive strategies that target both individual and collective risk factors, while also considering broader socio-economic and digital influences on children's health behaviours. Promoting healthy lifestyles, access to nutritious foods, physical activity, and better dental care can help to alleviate these conditions. Understanding the interplay between these health issues and the digital environment is crucial to creating effective and adaptable public health interventions.

Contamination of groundwater due to arsenic (As) and problems faced by drinking the contaminated water have been identified worldwide. The integration of biogeochemical processes has led to the dissolution of naturally occurring As into the groundwater. The goal of this investigation is mainly to determine the presence of As in drinking water and consequences faced by human beings by drinking such contaminated water. Scope of this issue has not yet undergone a full epidemiological examination in any Indian region. However, in India, little is known about the disease caused by arsenicosis. Therefore, the present study discusses various natural and anthropogenic sources of As in groundwater involving its speciation and mobilization pattern in groundwater. Appropriate review on the issues of As contamination in groundwater has been conducted in various regions across the globe followed by the epidemiology and toxicity mechanisms of As in human beings. Various remediation techniques have been adopted for mitigating the major impact of As contamination depending upon the conventional, modern, and hybrid technologies for removing the As from several regions of India. Metals are integral components of the natural environment, and their presence in the food supply is inevitable and complex. While essential metals such as sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, iron, zinc, and copper are crucial for various physiological functions and must be consumed through the diet, others, like lead, mercury, and cadmium, are toxic even at low concentrations and pose serious health risks. This study comprehensively analyzes the presence, importance, and consequences of metals in the food chain. We explore the pathways through which metals enter the food supply, their distribution across different food types, and the associated health implications. By examining current regulatory standards for maximum allowable levels of various metals, we highlight the importance of ensuring food safety and protecting public health. Furthermore, this research underscores the need for continuous monitoring and management of metal content in food, especially as global agricultural and food production practices evolve. Deep-fat frying is a widely discussed topic globally in the field of food processing due to the growing consumer demand. These foods are known for their appealing outer appearance, crispy texture, and rich taste. The increased consumption of deep-fat fried foods has raised concerns regarding potential health issues, as they are often high in calories and may contain unfavorable compounds formed during the process of deep frying. This review aims to provide an overview of previous studies examining the physical, chemical, and nutritional changes that occur in fried foods, the mechanisms of fat uptake during frying, and the health implications associated with the consumption of these foods. This increasing rate in consumption has been linked to various adverse health conditions. There has been a significant research focus on reducing the fat content in deep fried foods, particularly investigating the process of fat uptake during deep-fat frying. It is crucial to increase consumer awareness regarding the potential problems arising from excessive intake of deep-fat fried foods. This article presents the findings of a study on the impact of mobile phone usage among medical undergraduates. The study found that excessive use of mobile phones negatively affected the students' health and academic performance. Common health issues reported were headaches and dry eyes. The study suggests that mobile phone addiction among medical undergraduates should be addressed through counseling to prevent further addiction and mitigate the adverse effects. The study also highlights the need for awareness and moderation in mobile phone usage among undergraduates. However, the study was limited to one medical college and self-reported health issues. BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Pesticides are toxic and dangerous materials requiring good handling. Pesticide exposure highly affects farmers' health, especially spray pesticides, which arise from pesticide residues in food, air, and the environment. This research aims to determine the relationship between behavioral factors in using Personal Protective Equipment and individual hygiene and sanitation of farmers who experience health problems. This study also looks at the predictive value of farmers' behavioral factors regarding health problems. METHODS: The design of this study is cross-sectional with quantitative research type. This study gathered 91 respondents in Jonggol Village, which has the largest agricultural land in Bogor Regency and with farmers who actively use pesticides. Accordingly, this location has a population at risk of pesticide exposure. This study used questionnaires to obtain information about farmer behavior and health problems. It also used the statistical package for the social sciences application to analyze data based on the chi-square test and multiple logistic regression. FINDINGS: The bivariate analysis results show a significant relationship between the habit of using personal protective equipment (masks) and farmers' health problems, with a test value of 0.019 and an odds ratio of 4.24. The habit of not using hand protection (gloves) is also significantly related to not showering after farming, with a test value of 0.045 and an odds ratio of 3.61. Meanwhile, the variable habit of using hand protection (gloves) has the highest influence, with a test value of 0.008. Farmers who do not use hand protection are 17.5 times more likely to experience health problems than farmers who use hand protection. Meanwhile, the Logistic Model shows that all variables lack a significant relationship. CONCLUSION: Based on the overall analysis of the behavior of using personal protective equipment and personal hygiene of farmers, this study suggests increasing synergy between agricultural and health instructors in building awareness of using protective equipment and the correct and appropriate use of pesticides among farmers. In a cross-program and crosssector manner, agricultural extension workers can explain how to wear protective equipment and use pesticides correctly, while health educators can promote pesticide exposure pathways and preventive measures for pesticide-related diseases. Exploring other factors influencing farmers' willingness to use protective equipment and maintain personal hygiene is also essential, including barriers preventing farmers from behaving well. Background: Type 2 diabetes prevalence is steadily increasing worldwide, and South Africa is one of the countries in Africa with the highest prevalence of this disease, along with other non-communicable diseases. The adherence to treatment in male patients with type 2 diabetes is influenced by their attitudes towards medication and how they perceive their condition. To some extent, these factors impact the treatment outcomes for patients undergoing type 2 diabetes treatment. The purpose of this study was to investigate the perceptions of male patients with type 2 diabetes on their adherence to diabetic therapy. The study was conducted in the clinics of the City of Tshwane Metropolitan municipality in Gauteng. Methods: This study followed a qualitative, exploratory design. Data were gathered from 15 male patients who were purposefully sampled through in-person, one-on-one interviews with the principal investigator. The eight steps outlined by Tesch were used to analyse the participant data. Results: Emergent themes indicated that there were barriers to adherence to diabetic treatment and also factors that promoted adherence to diabetic treatment among the participants. Several factors were found to affect treatment uptake among the participants. Conclusion: Patients demonstrated various reactions to diabetic treatment, highlighting the need for reinforcing education at the time of diagnosis and treatment initiation. Additionally, regular patient follow-up may be essential to improve adherence among patients. Contribution: The study highlights the importance of health promotion and the need to develop materials for medication-specific counselling for patients receiving diabetic treatment, in order to promote adherence.

Background: Small-scale fishers of Indian Sundarbans depend on open-water fisheries for their livelihoods. They often face health, occupational, and safety issues in their profession due to environmental, socio-economic, and policy changes. The morbidity pattern and related risk factors are important indicators of well-being for any community, hence applicable to small-scale fishers of Sundarbans. The present study was designed to assess patterns of morbidities, associated risk factors including occupational health hazards, and treatment-seeking behavior of small-scale fishers in the Indian Sundarbans. Material and Methods: Household surveys, focused group discussions, and personal interviews were conducted through a predesigned pretested structured questionnaire. Associated risk factors and the nature of seeking treatment were considered during the data collection covering 650 individuals from 132 fishers' families. Results: Morbidities were more frequent in males (39.33%) than in females (28.5%). The fever (31%) was the most dominant reason for morbidities followed by ocular ailments (23%), musculoskeletal disorder (20%), dermatological ailments (17%), and respiratory illness (9%). The highest morbidities (25%) were recorded in the age group of 21-30 years in males while that was 20% in the 11-20 years age group in the case of the females. Physical labor for fishing activities predisposes to health ailments of the studied population. Conclusions: The prevalence of morbidity among the fishermen community was found to be 28.5%. The understanding of the morbidity profile of a population in general and specific age groups of both sexes in specific sheds light on the vulnerability of working groups that will help for effective healthcare planning and resource allocation. Quality sleep is predominantly considered as a significant aspect of our day today activity. Management students are constantly buffeted with challenging tasks as a part of their ongoing pedagogy. Often there are instances wherein the sleep is distorted due to few unprecedented activities. The research work makes an attempt, through in-depth review of literature in understanding the various antecedents that can to be considered as disturbance for quality of sleep. The internal consistency of the questionnaire is assessed through test of reliability. Hypothesis testing is computed in understanding the differences of opinion if any through parametric tests. The dimensions are framed using exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. The attributes are collapsed into six different constructs through dimension reduction technique using R Programming. The influence of the independent attributes on the aspect of obstructive sleep is assessed through multivariate regression analysis (Structural Equation Model) using AMOS. Off all the antecedents the attributes confining the dimension of lifestyle and health are identified to be of high relevance. The World Health Organization (WHO) and its member states strive to ensure universal access to safe drinking water regardless of developmental or socioeconomic status. WHO is tasked with proposing regulations and recommendations concerning global health issues. Hydrogen sulfide, a colorless gas with a rotten egg odor, is detectable at low concentrations and occurs naturally in various environments including crude petroleum, natural gas, and volcanic gases. Industrial processes and bacterial decomposition also contribute to its presence. Hydrogen sulfide is utilized in sulfur production and can be released into the air, water, and soil, persisting in the atmosphere for up to 42 days. Exposure can occur near industrial facilities or agricultural sites with manure storage. Workers in certain industries are particularly at risk. Human studies indicate respiratory and nervous systems are most vulnerable to hydrogen sulfide toxicity, with symptoms ranging from irritation at low concentrations to respiratory distress or loss of consciousness at high concentrations. Aim: Post-COVID-19 syndrome is defined as continuous symptoms related to SARS-CoV-2 infection, which can persist for several weeks or months. Previous studies identified risk factors associated with post-COVID-19 syndrome, including female sex, hypertension, and allergic respiratory diseases. This study aims to investigate the frequency of this syndrome among Arabic patients. Subject and methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from March to August 2022. The study included 520 Arabic patients with confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis, who were asked about possible symptoms persisting for ≥28 days. Results: Twenty-five percent (25%) of the included patients developed post-COVID-19 syndrome. The most common recorded symptoms were cough (32%), anosmia (32%), fatigue (28%), headache (19%), muscle pain (19%), and shortness of breath (17%). It was found that female sex, hospitalization due to initial COVID-19 infection, and the presence of chronic diseases were significant risk factors for developing post-COVID-19 syndrome. Conclusion: The study recorded post-COVID-19 syndrome among 25% of Arabic participants. In today's digital era, the decline in children's outdoor playtime with excessive screen usage has raised concerns about their long-term physical health, mental well-being and overall development. This article highlights the importance of prioritizing and promoting outdoor play to ensure a balanced childhood experience. The decline in outdoor play can be attributed to factors such as increased technology usage, academic pressures, safety concerns and changing societal attitudes. However, outdoor play is crucial for children's holistic development as it contributes to improved physical health, cognitive stimulation, social interaction and emotional well-being. The decline in outdoor play and excessive screen time has been associated with various health issues, including mental health problems, disrupted sleep patterns, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder-like behavior and physical health risks. To reclaim outdoor playtime, practical strategies are proposed. These include reevaluating priorities to strike a balance between technology usage and outdoor activities, promoting nature education in schools, creating safe outdoor spaces, encouraging parental involvement, addressing safety concerns, limiting screen time, nurturing environmental stewardship, fostering collaboration between schools and communities and advocating for supportive policies. Background: "Youth" is best understood as a period of transition from the dependence of childhood to adulthood's independence. Of the 1.2 billion people live in India, 54% are <24 years of age. These young people are the futures of tomorrow. However, their lives today are ridden with anxieties, depressions, identity crisis, relationship break downs, conflicts, stress, and sensuality. Youth live in a society serene of a number of social spheres that influence their belief, attitudes, and behavior where the effect of risk behavior among youth can be seen in them being reckless. Youth lifestyles are of concern. Determining the risk behaviors in this age group is important for understanding how hazardous behavior shape their adult outcomes and identify resilience that will help them make better decisions and enhance the existing protective factors. Aim: This study aims to assess the relationship between risk behaviors and resilience among youths in the city of Coimbatore. Setting and Design: A cross-sectional study was conducted on youth from schools and colleges, selected by random sampling, in Coimbatore city of Tamil Nadu. Methodology: One thousand seven hundred and ten youth studying in various schools and colleges (F = 799 and M = 911) aged between 18 and 22 years were selected randomly for this study. Youth Risk Behavior Scale and Resilience Scale were administered to elicit the information from the selected youth. Statistical Analysis Used: The frequency and percentage were calculated to assess the level of risk behavior and resilience among youth. Canonical correlation analysis was applied to identify the significant relationship of risk with the resilient factors among youth. The data were subjected to the statistical analysis through SPSS 19. Results: The results highlighted that smoking, tobacco, alcohol, and self-medication risks were higher and all the aspects of resilience except for adaptability were found to be lower among youth. The "canonical correlation analysis" resulted in four canonical functions and where collectively the full model was statistically significant f (40, 7399) = 7.137, P = 0.000. These results emphasized the differential impact of risk on resilience among youth and in their functioning. Conclusions: The study emphasizes the differential impact of risk and resilience on the different aspects of youth functioning and supports the need for specificity in resilience research. Resilience can be practiced and youth may be educated to be resilient. Attention to risk factors at both individual and social levels is required to provide the fullest understanding of healthy youth and improve their well-being with enhanced resilience. The feeding behaviour of individual growing-finishing pigs can be continuously monitored using sensors such as electronic feeding stations (EFSs), and this could be further used to monitor pig welfare. To make accurate conclusions about individual pig welfare, however, it is important to know whether deviations in feeding behaviour in response to welfare issues are shown only on average or by each individual pig. Therefore, this study aimed (1) to quantify the individual variation in feeding behaviour changes in response to a range of welfare issues, and (2) to explain this individual variation by quantifying the responses to welfare issues for specific subgroups of pigs. We monitored four rounds of 110 growing-finishing pigs each (3–4 months per round). We collected feeding behaviour data using IVOG® EFSs and identified health issues and heat stress using climate sensors and twice-weekly health observations. For each pig, a generalised additive model was fitted, which modelled feeding behaviour through time and estimated the effect of each welfare issue that the pig had suffered from. The range of these effect estimates was compared between pigs to study the individual variation in responses. Subsequently, pigs were repeatedly grouped using physical and feeding characteristics, and, with meta–subset analysis, it was determined for each group whether a deviation in response to the welfare issue (i.e. their combined effect estimates) was present. We found that the range in effect estimates was very large, approaching normal distributions for most combinations of welfare issues and feeding variables. This indicates that most pigs did not show feeding behaviour deviations during the welfare issue, while those that did could show both increases and reductions. One exception was heat stress, for which almost all pigs showed reductions in their feed intake, feeding duration and feeding frequency. When looking at subgroups of pigs, it was seen that especially for lameness and tail damage pigs with certain physical characteristics or feeding strategies did consistently deviate on some feeding components during welfare issues (e.g. only relatively heavier pigs reduced their feeding frequency during lameness). In conclusion, while detection of individual pigs suffering from heat stress using feeding variables should be feasible, detection of (mild) health issues would be difficult due to pigs responding differently, if at all, to a given health issue. For some pigs with specific physical or behavioural characteristics, nevertheless, detection of some health issues, such as lameness or tail damage, may be possible.

Abstract Background Although 12 years have passed since Great East Japan Earthquake and following Fukushima nuclear accident, approximately 40% of Japanese citizen still believe that the current radiation exposure in Fukushima residents will likely/ very likely to cause genetic effects of radiation. This incorrect understanding could continue unexpected discrimination and prejudice towards those from Fukushima now and in the future. In order to provide updated knowledge and eliminate rumors related to radiation, Japanese Ministry of the Environment has launched “GU-GU-RU” project in 2021 with consisting of five sections. Objective (1) To discuss the objectives and effects of the “GU-GU-RU” project (results after the first year), (2) to present administrative measures that may be effective in the long-term to prevent unjustified discrimination and prejudice, and (3) to eliminate rumors in the event of future large-scale disasters, including radiation disasters. Methods We showed the contents of each sections carried out under the project and observed the result of first-year activities in each section. Results Among the programs, the “Radiation College” has steadily produced positive results, with nearly 1,300 students participating and 50 students sharing their thoughts and ideas. In addition, the project has adopted strategies such as creating and broadcasting a TV program and collaborations with manga, which are expected to have a significant impact on society. Conclusions Compared to previous efforts on disseminating information related to health effect of radiation exposure, the “GU-GU-RU” project has taken a different approach in providing primary data of radiation and its health effects, which could become a better understanding of health effects of radiation for the general public, in order to eliminate rumors that may lead unjustified discrimination and prejudice.

The marine fisheries are one of the vital occupations in the southern parts of India. This industry is considered to be the foundation of revenue generation for these states. Kerala, being located at the southernmost part of India, is promoting this industry with support from inter-state migrant labourers. The inter-state migrants working in Kerala’s maritime industry are from northern and southern India. As a result of higher salaries and improved working conditions in this unskilled sector, people from the North and Eastern parts of the country have started to migrate to Kerala. Indeed, the continual cash flow in this sector makes it lucrative and invites a large influx of migrant labour to this region. These inter-state migrant labourers work for more than eight hours and spend 10 to 15 days at sea while fishing. They have to stay with heavy pieces of equipment at sea away from shore. This heart-wrenching situation deteriorates their health. They come across various kinds of professional injuries while fishing. Some of these fishermen and fisherwomen encounter long-term effects from those injuries. On the other hand, catering to their health needs seems challenging due to the lack of adequate medical facilities for migrant labourers. Following the increase in migratory flow, Kerala’s health system has faced several institutional impediments. The lack of identification of migrant labourers cripples the entire process of providing access to a better healthcare system to them. As a result, inter-state migrant labourers in the marine industry are facing various health-related challenges due to the nature of this profession and the apathy of state machinery. Therefore, this study seeks to explore the health issues affecting the inter-state migrant labourers in Kerala’s marine sector through a mixed-method research design.

In the aftermath of the Second World War, the children of Western Europe were suffering. Millions of them were ill, anaemic, tired and deficient in vitamins and proteins. Houses, hospitals, sewers and other hygiene infrastructure was destroyed by the fighting and bombing across Europe. As a result of the material conditions that prevailed after Germany's capitulation, child relief was a real challenge for experts, members of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and state organizations alike, who tried to identify, treat and help sick children. In some countries, the task was made all the more difficult due to political and institutional instability, as was the case in France, Germany and Italy, where state structures had largely collapsed. By focusing specifically on these countries, all three of which shared an unprecedented institutional crisis despite profoundly divergent national contexts, this article examines how the various entities in charge of children and childcare – and voluntary organizations in particular – faced the challenges of the health emergency of the immediate post-war period. At the crossroads of the history of child welfare and humanitarianism, the aim of this article is to document and analyse the many roles these organizations took on – as care providers, information gatherers, parcel transmitters and so on – to help child victims of war, as well as understand the relationships they forged with other actors involved. The comparative approach will provide a stimulating opportunity to look more closely at the ways in which non-state actors participated in the post-war recovery of children's health, and to point out common dynamics and specificities for each country. In Canada, there are vast differences between the state of accommodation/housing, health, social inequalities, education and economic conditions for people in the northern and southern regions of the country. Overcrowding in Inuit Nunangat is a direct result of the promises made by past government policy that led to Inuit people settling in sedentary communities in the North on the understanding that they would be provided with social welfare. However, these welfare programmes proved to be either insufficient or non-existent for Inuit people. Therefore, Inuit are living in overcrowded homes in Canada, resulting in a severe housing shortage, poor-quality housing and homelessness. This has led to the spread of contagious diseases, mould, mental-health issues, gaps in education for children, sexual and physical violence, food insecurity and adverse challenges for the youth of Inuit Nunangat. This paper proposes several actions to ease the crisis. First, funding should be stable and predictable. Next, there should be ample construction of transitional homes which could be used to accommodate people before moving them into proper public housing. Policies regarding staff housing should be amended, and if possible, these vacant staff houses could provide shelter to eligible Inuit people, which could help lessen the housing crisis. The advent of COVID-19 has made the issue of affordable and safe housing more serious because without safe housing, the health, education and well-being of the Inuit people in Inuit Nunangat are in peril. Background: This study examines the relationship between energy usage, health issues, and pro-environmental behaviour (PEB) in Kyrgyzstan amidst the country's commitment to transition from coal-based energy to renewable sources, in line with the Paris Agreement. The purpose is to investigate citizens' attitudes towards PEB and their intentions to engage in environmentally friendly actions, focusing on gas, electricity, and coal. Methods: Drawing upon the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) framework, a survey was conducted among 1455 respondents to explore attitudes towards PEB and energy sources' impact on health issues. Results: Decarbonization efforts in Kyrgyzstan and Central Asia are in their early stages, with coal remaining a primary energy source. The study emphasizes the importance of governmental policies and citizen action in achieving decarbonization goals. Rising electricity costs outweigh the increase in indirect energy costs for food, posing challenges for households adapting to changing energy dynamics. Conclusions: Targeted interventions and communication strategies are crucial to promote pro-environmental behaviour and facilitate the transition to sustainable energy sources. Understanding the relationships between health concerns, air pollution awareness, PEB, and energy source choices can inform policymakers and organizations to ensure a sustainable and healthy future for Kyrgyzstan and other Central Asian countries. Post-truth theories inscribe the credibility gained in the public sphere by forms of knowledge refused by science within the framework of an epistemic crisis involving the value of truth for which irrational, populist, and conspiracy groups are to be blamed. In this contribution, we test the presence of widespread argumentative repertoires in support of knowledge refused by science among laypeople who are generally trusting science. Through a situationally framed protocol for focus groups, participants were asked to discuss knowledge claims refused by science concerning health and wellness issues. The analysis is based on 14 focus groups related to four different topics: 1) vaccination hesitancy; 2) the Five Biological Laws; 3) the benefits of alkaline water and of an alkaline diet; and 4) the risks associated with 5G technologies. Multiple argumentative repertoires were identified that mobilised a) experience of the fallibility of medical science; b) the unaccountability of institutions legitimated to produce health-related knowledge; and c) pragmatic investments and participation in networks of associations on which healthcare practices are based. The socio-pragmatic dimension of knowledge appears to be the ground for reconsidering the integration of knowledge claims in ecosystems sustaining everyday life choices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Not much is known about how bystanders' emotional reactions after not intervening in cyberbullying might impact their health issues. Narrowing this gap in the literature, the present study focused on examining the moderating effects of emotional reactions (i.e., guilt, sadness, anger) after not intervening in cyberbullying on the longitudinal relationship between cyberbullying bystanding and health issues (i.e., subjective health complaints, suicidal ideation, non-suicidal self-harm). Participants were 1,067 adolescents between 12 and 15 years old included in this study (Mage = 13.67; 51% girls). The findings showed a positive association between Time 1 cyberbullying bystanding and Time 2 health issues. Guilt moderated the positive relationships among Time 1 cyberbullying bystanding, Time 2 subjective health complaints, suicidal ideation, and non-suicidal self-harm. Time 1 sadness also moderated the relationship between Time 1 cyberbullying bystanding and Time 2 suicidal ideation and non-suicidal self-harm. Whilst attendance in mainstream school helps encourage inclusivity, these environments are recognised as being particularly challenging for young people with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The COVID-19 pandemic brought a novel transition as young people moved from school to home-learning. This study compared the experiences of parents of children with ASD and co-occurring health difficulties of school-learning environments with their home-learning environments during COVID-19 lockdown. An interpretative phenomenological analysis was conducted on semi-structured interviews from six parents of children (aged 8-15 years old) with ASD. Four superordinate themes were generated: Interactions between Health, ASD and Learning Environments; School Support and Managing Health Needs; Seeking Solutions; and Learning from COVID-19 Lockdown. The study highlighted the impact of ASD and co-occurring health difficulties on learning where parents found ways to provide positive home-learning environments which could be used and/or transferred back into school environments. These results hold real-world implications where educators could treat sensory and ASD friendly environments as standard and include genuine adjustments for children with ASD and additional needs. A flexible home-learning approach using parental knowledge around environmental adjustments that support learning, wellbeing and a sense of inclusion should be prioritised for children's overall development and wellbeing in these unprecedented times, and beyond. This study aims to investigate the phenomenon of excessive mobile usage habits among children leading towards developing aggressive behavior. The study employed qualitative methodology with focus group discussion method. A structured qualitative questionnaire was used for collecting responses through zoom by the housewives-cumrespondents hailing from upper-middle class families of lower Punjab. The findings revealed the housewives have serious concerns about health issues of their children especially the kids have developed aggressive behavior through mobile usage. Children between the age of 2-5 years have developed strain relationship with their mothers on the issue of using mobile even during dining. The study concluded that this was the unique phenomenon for the mothers dealing with their children but they were helpless in absence of any policy framework. The study recommended the government as well as cellular companies, service providers and media regulatory bodies should step forward and chalked out a comprehensive policy and chalk out rules and regulation for mobile usage. Awareness sessions should also be arranged in schools, colleges and universities to educate parents. The study further recommended there must be training sessions for the parents, students and fellows and a written manual should be distributed among the parents. Today, the introduction of silver nanoparticles in medical products is rampant and, therefore, their toxic release into the environment gives rise to grave environmental issues. Environmental management is the need of the hour. The objective of this study is to create and harvest silver nanodots of sizes <20 nm using a simple ingredient like monosaccharide fructose sugar in the lab, to analyse their antimicrobial properties and to find usage by functionalizing them in medical products to enhance their quality. This experimental process following in this study is rapid paced, ecofriendly, toxic free, than the existing conventional methods. These silver nanodots are unique in nature, when it is functionalized with medical products such as textiles and wound dressings. They are found to be toxin free providing a safe and healthy medical environment. Infections are reduced nearly hundred percent due to silver-nanodots’ high antimicrobial potential. In this study, a filtrate system for water purification is developed using polyurethane foam (PUFS) coated with silver nanodots synthesized using monosaccharide sugars. Repetition of washing and drying results in stable PUFS with uniform coating. Highly antiresistant E. coli bacteria of 100 colony-forming units per ml are prepared to be used for testing. Silvernanodots-coated PUF filter is soaked in this water for 20 minutes and analysed. The result shows very high reduction in bacterial population. This ensured pure drinking water can be obtained by this method at very low cost. Nutritional status is an important factor in assessing the growth and development rate of babies and toddlers. Cases of malnutrition are increasing, especially in magelang city. Because nutritional problems (Malnutrition) can affect the health of toddlers. Therefore, this study aims to predict the level of prevalence of malnutrition with the Naïve Bayes method. This research uses an observational design, a single center study at the Magelang City Office, using the Naïve bayes method which is used as an application of time series data, and is most widely used for prediction, especially in data sets that have many categorical or nominal type attributes. The Naïve bayes method is used to predict such cases of malnutrition. The results of this study show that the Naïve Bayes method succeeded in predicting the magnitude of cases of malnourished toddlers in Magelang City with an accuracy percentage of 75% due to the very minimal amount of training data, and the areas that have the most malnutrition are in three areas, namely Magersari, North Tidar and Panjang.

Background and Study Aim. Musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) are incredibly common and are often related to work load. For any occupational or public health intervention, injury prevention is preferred to injury treatment. Occupational health and injury prevention research has the potential to help mitigate MSD in the workplace. The aim of this study was to determine how the work demands of ski instructors may affect the health of their musculoskeletal system. Material and Methods. A cross-sectional study involved the participation of 87 ski instructors (age = 34.61 ±10.67) in Bosnia and Herzegovina (ATUS in Bosnia and Herzegovina). Observed variables were the prevalence of MSD measured using a modified Nordic questionnaire about injuries during the previous ski season (neck, shoulders, elbows, wrist, upper back, lower back, one or both hips, one or both knees, and ankle). Means and standard deviations for each of the variables were calculated, and differences between genders were examined using an independent sample t-test. Results. Prevalence of MSDs in ski instructors was most common in neck (13.8%), shoulders (12.6%), elbows (4.6%), wrist (9.2%), upper back (10.3%), lower back (46.0%), one or both hips (9.2%), one or both knees (29.9%), and ankle (9.2%). The results showed statistically significant differences in MSD between genders in the neck (p=.034); shoulders (p=.017); upper back (p=.027); one or both knees (p=.003) and in the ankle joint (p=.011). Conclusions. MSD’s are common in ski instructors, especially in the low back and knees of female employees. Future research or injury prevention programs would benefit these populations.

Background/Aims: Around 200 million women have undergone some type of cut, change or removal of the outer part of their genitalia. Midwives play a central role in recognising and providing support to women who have suffered from female genital mutilation. The aim of this study was to understand midwives' role in supporting women with female genital mutilation by exploring their knowledge, education and training. Methods: A systematic review of both qualitative and quantitative research published between 2010 and 2020 was carried out. A total of nine articles were selected, following screening and quality assessment, for inclusion in the review. Results: Midwives' lack of knowledge and confidence regarding appropriate care for women with female genital mutilation highlights the urgent need for evidence-based research. Furthermore, midwives' knowledge and training needs to be improved to enhance care for women with female genital mutilation. Conclusions: Female genital mutilation affects a variety of countries, and, in recent times, has developed into a global public health concern. Air pollution is considered the world's most important environmental and public health risk. The annual exposure for particulate matter (PM) in the northern Caribbean region of Colombia between 2011 and 2019 was determined using PM records from 25 monitoring stations located within the area. The impact of exposure to particulate matter was assessed through the updated Global Burden of Disease health risk functions using the AirQ+ model for mortality attributable to acute lower respiratory disease (in children ≤ 4 years); mortality in adults aged > 18 years old attributable to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, ischaemic heart disease, lung cancer, and stroke; and all-cause post-neonatal infant mortality. The proportions of the prevalence of bronchitis in children and the incidence of chronic bronchitis in adults attributable to PM exposure were also estimated for the population at risk. Weather Research and Forecasting-California PUFF (WRF-CALPUFF) modeling systems were used to estimate the spatiotemporal trends and calculate mortality relative risk due to prolonged PM2.5 exposure. Proportions of mortality attributable to long-term exposure to PM2.5 were estimated to be around 11.6% of ALRI deaths in children ≤ 4 years of age, 16.1% for COPD, and 26.6% for IHD in adults. For LC and stroke, annual proportions attributable to PM exposure were estimated to be 9.1% and 18.9%, respectively. An estimated 738 deaths per year are directly attributed to particulate matter pollution. The highest number of deaths per year is recorded in the adult population over 18 years old with a mean of 401 events. The mean risk in terms of the prevalence of bronchitis attributable to air pollution in children was determined to be 109 per 100,000 inhabitants per year. The independent factors in this study include exercise and physical fitness, while the dependent variable is economic survival. The data was analysed using AMOS 26v. It is well established that experiencing human trafficking is associated with adverse consequences that are oftentimes substantial and enduring, including mental, physical, and social harms. Although health complications are recognized as being an important consideration in the response to victims, little is known about how these effects might vary depending on when victims were exploited or how they compare to individuals who have not experienced trafficking. Using a national sample of 986 young, non-college educated women, the current study seeks to fill this gap by examining the physical, mental, and social health issues of sex trafficking victims by stage of exploitation (i.e., minor only, adult only, both minor and adult) compared to non-sex trafficking victims. Results indicate significant associations between stage of exploitation and current social health issues, with limited significant associations between stage of exploitation and mental and physical health issues. Overall, these preliminary findings suggest that victims may experience different types of health issues based on when they were exploited, which could inform future response efforts. Shift work disturbs the existing relationships between the body's inner clock and the surroundings. The basic difficulty with shift work is that you sometimes have to work when it's usual to be sleeping which can disturb your natural sleep time. A study was conducted on 30 female nurse respondents of age 20-60 years, in Hisar city to find out problems related to shift work faced by female nurses and see the impact of shift jobs in perspective of sleep, fatigue, domestic situation and job satisfaction on female nurses. 70% of the nurses were doing this profession as full time for more than 6 hours a day while the remaining 30% were engaged as part time only up to a maximum of 6 hours only. 33.3% of the spouse had a neutral attitude toward the night shift of the nurses. 30% of the spouses were reported to be extremely unsupportive for the night shift. Day shift was more desirable for both, nurse staff as well as spouses. 50% of the respondents preferred a single mass of night duty per year while on the other hand; no respondent was interested in permanent night shift. The majority of the respondents (86.6%) reported problems related to the quantity of sleep they normally get. There was an overall negative effect of the night shift on the various health-related issues of the respondents. It was concluded from the current study that shifts job has a major adverse impact on sleep and fatigue related issues in the nurse respondents. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is continuously making concerted efforts to deliver environmentally sound farming practices through its dynamic extension staff. This research aims to gauge their awareness and knowledge levels regarding environmental laws. With a reasonable knowledge of environmental laws, they can evaluate farming practices and observe the extent of the implementation of the environmental laws by the farmers. All the extension workers (266) on the payroll of the Saudi government were included in the study. Data were collected by using the pre- tested questionnaire. In order to understand the findings of the study, data were analyzed for, arithmetic average and standard deviation in addition to the simple Pearson correlation coefficient. The results showed that high percentage of young and middle-aged respondents, accounting for about 74% of the total respondents. More than half of the study population (55.7%) were holding a bachelor's degree in agricultural sciences and about 70.2 percent of extension staff had professional experience from 1-13 years. However, they had a good grasp of the 5 most important environmental legislations. About 41.9 % of the respondents knew about the wrong practices that could cause environmental pollution. The study reveals that knowledge regarding the punishment/penalties significantly depends on the variable “knowledge of legislation”. A positive and significant correlation between "the number of years of experience in agricultural extension" and the extension workers' awareness levels of environmental protection legislation was realized. The study indicates that most of the respondents are relatively young and inexperienced having low levels of knowledge of environmental legislations. However, they have a greater inclination to learn and practice. Based on the findings of the study, it is recommended to organize extensive training courses for the extension staff on environmental legislations to make them well-conversant with environmentally friendly and sound agriculture so that while working with the farmers, they may transmit the principles and practices of pollution-free farming comfortably. Groundwater is defined as water that exists underground in voids or gaps in sediments and is extracted for human consumption from aquifers. It is critical to our daily lives because it contributes to the sustainability of our natural ecosystem while also providing economic benefits. Heavy metals are metallic compounds with a relatively high atomic weight and density compared to water. In Malaysia, heavy metal contamination of groundwater has become a concern due to rapid population growth, economic development, and a lack of environmental awareness. Environmental factors or their behaviors, such as density, viscosity, or volume, affect the distribution and transportation of heavy metals. The article discusses the difficulties created by the presence of heavy metals in groundwater supplies and the resulting health problems. Additionally, remediation methods are discussed for managing contaminated water to preserve the ecological environment for current and future generations, as well as their advantages and disadvantages.
