The Cu–15Ni–8Sn alloy ingot was prepared in the medium-frequency induction melting furnace. The hot extruded alloy was treated by solid solution at 840 °C for 60 min and aging at 400 °C for different times (0 miñ480 min). The effect of aging time on the evolution of the nanophase of Cu–15Ni–8Sn alloy and the strengthening-toughening mechanism were studied. The results show that at the beginning of aging, the alloy undergoes spinodal decomposition, the wavelength of the modulated structure is approximately 3∼7 nm, the ordered phase transformation of D022 and L12 occurs simultaneously, and the ordered phase size is approximately 5 nm. With the extension of aging time, the modulated structure became coarser, and the wavelength of the modulated structure increased to 5–9 nm. At the same time, the D022 ordered phase changed to the L12 ordered phase, and a continuous distribution of elliptical discontinuous precipitation appeared at the grain boundary. The ratio of the long and short axes of the discontinuous precipitation was approximately 4.7. In the late aging period, the D022 ordered phase was basically transformed into the L12 ordered phase, and discontinuous precipitation, which is incompatible with the matrix, extended into the crystal. After 120 min of aging at 400 °C, the hardness, strength, and elongation of the alloy are 105.4 HRB, 839.8 MPa and 9.6 %, respectively. The peak-aging states D022 and L12 coexist in an orderly phase at the nanoscale, and this nanoscale strengthening phase is completely integrated with the matrix, which improves the strength and toughness of the alloy. The research results can provide support for the development of high-performance copper alloys in the ocean.

A two-dimensional waveguide is the building block in integrated photonic circuits. In this work, the 5.0 MeV oxygen ion implantation at a dose of 5. 0 × 1 0 1 4 ions/cm2 was carried out on the fused silica glass for the formation of the planar waveguide. Then, a femtosecond laser was employed to ablate the ion-implanted surface at a speed of 200 μ m/s for the construction of the ridge waveguide. The energy depositions of the oxygen ion implantation into the fused silica glass were simulated by the SRIM 2013. The microscopic morphology of the ridge waveguide was photographed by a Nikon microscope. The near-field intensity distributions of the ridge waveguide at 532 nm and 976 nm were measured by using the end-face coupling system. The ion-implanted and femtosecond-ablated ridge waveguide on the fused silica glass has the potential as a photonic device for integrated optical systems at the visible and near-infrared bands. Becker's nevus (BN) manifests as a hyperpigmented, sometimes hypertrichotic plaque/patch over the chest and shoulder, and it is in the category of benign cutaneous hamartomas. BN has elongation and fusion of the rete ridge, keratotic plugging, sebaceous hyperplasia, smooth muscle hyperplasia, and hyperpigmentation of the basal/suprabasal layer histologically. This article highlights all issues involved in pathogenesis and treatment options of BN. According to current research, postzygotic ACTB mutations induce BN and Becker's nevus syndrome (BNS). Although several therapy strategies were utilized to treat the pigmentary and hypertrichotic aspects of BN, no definitive standard treatment was identified to far, and further research is needed to better educate BN care. Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) is an RNA virus that causes great economic losses globally to the swine industry. Innate immune RNA receptors mainly sense it during infection. As a DNA sensor, cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS) plays an important role in sensing cytosolic DNA and activating innate immunity to induce IFN-I and establish an antiviral cellular state. In contrast, the role of innate immune DNA sensors during PRRSV infection has not been elucidated. In this study, we found that cGAS facilitates the production of IFN-β during PRRSV infection. Western blot and virus titer assays suggested that cGAS overexpression suppressed the replication of multiple PRRSV strains, while knockout of cGAS increased viral titer and nucleocapsid protein expression. Besides, our results indicated that the mitochondria were damaged during PRRSV infection and leaked mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) into the cytoplasm. The mtDNA in the cytoplasm co-localizes with the cGAS, and the cGAMP activity was increased when the cGAS was overexpressed during PRRSV infection. Furthermore, the cGAMP also possesses an anti-PRRSV effect. These results indicate for the first time that cGAS restricts PRRSV replication by sensing the mtDNA in the cytoplasm to increase cGAMP activity, which not only explains the molecular mechanism by which cGAS inhibits PRRSV replication but also provides research ideas for studying the role of the cGAS-STING signaling pathway in the process of RNA virus infection. Abstract Background The regions in the middle of nonstructural protein 2 (nsp2) of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) have been shown to be nonessential for PRRSV replication, and these nonessential regions are different in various viral strains. Finding In this study, the nonessential regions of the nsp2 of an attenuated vaccine strain (HuN4-F112) of highly pathogenic porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus were identified based on an infectious cDNA clone of HuN4-F112. The results demonstrated that the segments of nsp2 [amino acids (aa) 480 to 667] tolerated deletions. Characterization of the mutants demonstrated that those with small deletions did not affect the viral growth on Marc-145 cells, but deletion of these regions led to earlier PRRSV replication increased (before 36 h after infectious in vitro). Conclusion The functional roles of nsp2 variable middle region for PRRSV HuN4-F112 replication have been identified. Our results also suggested that none-essential region might be an ideal insertion region to express foreign gene in PRRSV genome.

Geosynthetics-reinforced soil (GRS) structures have been widely used for the prevention of geological hazards. As a recently introduced product, the triaxial geogrid has been confirmed to provide improved performance due to the more stable grid structure. This paper presents an evaluation of the mechanical behavior based on a series of laboratory tests. The unconfined tensile strength of biaxial geogrid and triaxial geogrid in different loading directions relative to the orientation of ribs was investigated. Then, more than 8 pullout tests were conducted on the triaxial geogrid specimens embedded in the compacted sand. The internal displacements along the geogrid length were monitored. The results show that the triaxial geogrid has been shown to provide nearly uniform tensile strength in all loading directions as compared with the biaxial geogrid. The triaxial geogrid deformation is mainly characterized by rib bending and nodal distortion along with an inward squeeze perpendicular to the pullout direction. The interface friction between the soil and the geogrid develops in a progressive mode, and an elasto-plastic-softening characteristic is detected experimentally due to the extensibility of geogrid.
