We present a qualitatively investigation on the influence of thermal fluctuation on flux motion and vortex dynamic of (Li0.8Fe0.2)OHFeSe single crystals. The importance of thermal fluctuations has been assessed through the Ginzburg number Gi. The resistivity in the mixed state for (Li0.8Fe0.2)OHFeSe exhibits a thermally activated behavior investigated by TAFF theory. The field-dependent activation energy follows the relation U0 (H) ∼ H-α. Background: Cases of treatment failure in patients developing the R263K mutation have been previously reported. Here we present a patient who developed resistance to dolutegravir due to the R263K mutation during rifampicin treatment. Case presentation: A patient with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) had a virological failure of HIV when he used dolutegravir (DTG, once a day) and rifampicin at the same time. After treatment failure the dose of dolutegravir was increased (50mg, twice daily), but expected response was not achieved. The R263K mutation was identified and rifampicin was stopped. The treatment regimen was changed to zidovudine combined with lamivudine and lopinavir/ritonavir. Along with the regimen changes, the HIV-RNA, CD4, and CD8 of the patient improved. Due to the DTG drug-drug interactions with rifampicin, the dose of DTG should be doubled when used with rifampicin. Otherwise the patient might be at risk of developing treatment failure and the INSTI drug resistance R263K mutation. Conclusion: This case report discusses a possibility of developing resistance to dolutegravir due to the R263K mutation during rifampicin treatment, stressing the importance of detailed medical history and adherence, as well as the problem of drug-drug interactions in the follow-up process.

To increase the antitumor drug concentration in the liver tumor site and improve the therapeutic effects, a functionalized liposome (PPP-LIP) with tumor targetability and enhanced internalization after matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP2)-triggered cell-penetrating peptide (TATp) exposure was modified with myrcludex B (a synthetic HBV preS-derived lipopeptide endowed with compelling liver tropism) for liver tumor-specific delivery. After intravenous administration, PPP-LIP was mediated by myrcludex B to reach the hepatocyte surface. The MMP2-overexpressing tumor microenvironment deprotected PEG, exposing it to TATp, facilitating tumor penetration and subsequent efficient destruction of tumor cells. In live imaging of small animals and cellular uptake, PPP-LIP was taken up much more than typical unmodified liposomes in the ICR mouse liver and liver tumor cells. Hydroxycamptothecin (HCPT)-loaded PPP-LIP showed a better antitumor effect than commercially available HCPT injections among MTT, three-dimensional (3 D) tumor ball, and tumor-bearing nude mouse experiments. Our findings indicated that PPP-LIP nanocarriers could be a promising tumor-targeted medication delivery strategy for treating liver cancers with elevated MMP2 expression.

Wheat dwarf bunt is a damaging disease caused by Tilletia controversa Kühn (TCK). Once the disease infects wheat, it is difficult to control and will significantly reduce wheat output and quality. RNA sequencing and whole genome re-sequencing were used to search for potential TCK resistance genes in Yili 053 (sensitive variety) and Zhongmai 175 (moderately resistant variety) in the mid-filling, late-filling, and maturity stages. The transcriptomic analysis revealed 11 potential disease resistance genes. An association analysis of the findings from re-sequencing found nine genes with single nucleotide polymorphism mutations. The Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes enrichment analysis showed that three up-regulated genes were involved in the synthesis of benzoxazinone and tryptophan metabolism. Additionally, quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction confirmed the RNA sequencing results. The results revealed novel TCK resistance genes and provide a theoretical basis for researching the function of resistance genes and molecular breeding.

In practical process industries, the measurements coming from different sources are collected at different sampling rates, thereby soft sensors developed using uniformly sampled measurements may result in poor prediction performance. Besides, industrial processes are inherently stochastic and most of them present dynamic characteristic. To cope with these issues, a multi-rate probabilistic slow feature regression (MR-PSFR) model is proposed in this paper for dynamic feature learning and soft sensor development in industrial processes. In the MR-PSFR, both input and output observation datasets with different sampling rates are used to extract the slow features, which can separate slowly and fast changing features and have a better interpretation of the outputs. Then, the expectation-maximization algorithm is modified to derive the model parameters of MR-PSFR and the quality prediction strategy for multi-rate processes is constructed. Finally, the proposed method is investigated through a numerical example and a real industrial process. The simulation results show that the extracted slow features better represent the intrinsic characteristics of the processes and the proposed model has better prediction performance for multi-rate dynamic processes than other methods.

Epilepsy affects over 50 million people worldwide and increases the risk of death. An intrinsic state of central inflammation, mainly driven by TNFα/NFκB signaling, may contribute to the refractory nature of some epilepsies. We have therefore hypothesized that inhibitors of this signaling pathway might be therapeutic. To test this hypothesis, we have measured the antiseizure properties of the enantiomeric compounds MRS-2481 and MRS-2485 in rodent seizure model systems. In the 6 ​Hz (44 ​mA) induced seizure test in mice, the (S) species, MRS-2485, was found to have higher protective potency and lower toxicity than the (R) species MRS-2481. However, neither of these enantiomers were protective in the MES-induced seizure test. MRS-2485 was also found to be protective in the corneal kindled mouse test. Finally, MRS-2485 reduced the post-kainate rat hippocampal slice electrical burst rate and duration. We conclude that MRS-2485, the (S)-enantiomer, is a potent inhibitor of seizure activity in mouse and rat models of epilepsy.

In this paper, we present a comprehensive study on the propagation and dispersion characteristics of A1 mode propagating in Z-cut LiNbO3 membrane. The A1 mode resonators with pentagon spiral electrodes utilizing Z-cut lithium niobate (LiNbO3) thin film are designed and fabricated. The proposed structure excites the A1 mode waves in both x- and y-direction by utilizing both the piezoelectric constants e24 and e15 due to applying voltage along both the x- and y-direction by arranging pentagon spiral electrode. The fabricated resonator operates at 5.43 GHz with no spurious mode and effective electromechanical coupling coefficient (Keff2) of 21.3%, when the width of electrode is 1 µm and the pitch is 5 µm. Moreover, we present a comprehensive study of the effect of different structure parameters on resonance frequency and Keff2 of XBAR. The Keff2 keeps a constant with varied thickness of LiNbO3 thin film and different electrode rotation angles, while it declines with the increase of p from 5 to 20 µm. The proposed XBAR with pentagon spiral electrodes realize high frequency response with no spurious mode and tunable Keff2, which shows promising prospects to satisfy the needs of various 5 G high-band application.

The arrival of the 5G era has promoted the need for filters of different bandwidths. Thin-film bulk acoustic resonators have become the mainstream product for applications due to their excellent performance. The Keff2 of the FBAR greatly influences the bandwidth of the filter. In this paper, we designed an AlN-based adjustable Keff2 FBAR by designing parallel capacitors around the active area of the resonator. The parallel capacitance is introduced through the support column structure, which is compatible with conventional FBAR processes. The effects of different support column widths on Keff2 were verified by finite element simulation and experimental fabrication. The measured results show that the designed FBAR with support columns can achieve a Keff2 value that is 25.9% adjustable.

A dual-wavelength continuous-wave (CW) and passively Q-switched alexandrite laser based on a MoS2 saturable absorber (SA) operating at 736.7 nm and 752.8 nm with a simple and compact 18 mm plano–plano resonator is reported. In the CW mode, the output power is 1014 mW at the linear-polarized pump power of 5.44 W, with a slope efficiency of 28.7%. In the pulsed operation, the narrowest pulse width and the maximal peak power are 154 ns and 10.6 W, respectively. This laser can be used to generate 8.71 THz-wave light based on a suitable nonlinear optical crystal.

The high physiology and low toxicity of therapeutic peptides and proteins have made them a hot spot for drug development in recent years. However, their poor oral bioavailability and unstable metabolism make their clinical application difficult. The bilayer membrane of liposomes provides protection for the drug within the compartment, and their high biocompatibility makes the drug more easily absorbed by the body. However, phospholipids—which form the membranes—are subjected to various digestive enzymes and mucosal adhesion in the digestive tract and disintegrate before absorption. Improvements in the composition of liposomes or modifying their surface can enhance the stability of the liposomes in the gastrointestinal tract. This article reviews the basic strategies for liposome preparation and surface modification that promote the oral administration of therapeutic polypeptides.

The development of MEMS acoustic resonators meets the increasing demand for in situ detection with a higher performance and smaller size. In this paper, a lithium niobate film-based S1 mode Lamb wave resonator (HF-LWR) for high-sensitivity gravimetric biosensing is proposed. The fabricated resonators, based on a 400-nm X-cut lithium niobate film, showed a resonance frequency over 8 GHz. Moreover, a PMMA layer was used as the mass-sensing layer, to study the performance of the biosensors based on HF-LWRs. Through optimizing the thickness of the lithium niobate film and the electrode configuration, the mass sensitivity of the biosensor could reach up to 74,000 Hz/(ng/cm2), and the maximum value of figure of merit (FOM) was 5.52 × 107, which shows great potential for pushing the performance boundaries of gravimetric-sensitive acoustic biosensors.

The P2X5 receptor, an ATP-gated cation channel, is believed to be involved in tumor development, inflammatory bone loss and inflammasome activation after bacterial infection. Therefore, it is a worthwhile pharmacological target to treat the corresponding diseases, especially in minority populations that have a gene variant coding for functional homotrimeric P2X5 channels. Here, we investigated the effects of dihydropyridines on the human full-length P2X5 receptor (hP2X5FL) heterologously expressed in Xenopus oocytes using the two-microelectrode voltage clamp method. Agonist dependency, kinetics and permeation behavior, including Cl− permeability, were similar to hP2X5FL expressed in HEK293 or 1321N1 cells. Additionally, 1,4-dihydropyridines have been shown to interact with various other purinergic receptors, and we have examined them as potential hP2X5 modulators. Of seven commercially available and four newly synthesized dihydropyridines tested at hP2X5FL, only amlodipine exerted an inhibitory effect, but only at a high concentration of 300 µM. Isradipine and—even more—nimodipine stimulated ATP-induced currents in the low micromolar range. We conclude that common dihydropyridines or four new derivatives of amlodipine are not suitable as hP2X5 antagonists, but amlodipine might serve as a lead for future synthesis to increase its affinity. Furthermore, a side effect of nimodipine therapy could be a stimulatory effect on inflammatory processes.

This study investigated the dietary supplementation of tea residue fermented by Bacillus subtilis, Aspergillus niger, and Saccharomyces cerevisiae, to explore its effects on growth performance, digestion performance, meat quality, serum antioxidant capacity, and intestinal morphology in pigs bred for rapid growth, also known as fatteners. One hundred and ninety-two healthy “Duroc × Landrace × Yorkshire” ternary hybrid pigs (body weight 70 ± 1.0 kg) were randomly divided into four groups according to the feeding test requirements, with four replicates in each group, and 12 fatteners per replicate. The control group (CG) was fed the basal diet. Treatments 1 (T1), 2 (T2), and 3 (T3), comprising ratios of 10%, 15%, and 20% of tea residue were added to the basal diet. The test period was 60 days. The results showed that supplementation of FTR in fatteners’ diets increased final body weight (FBW), average daily gain (ADG), and feed conversion ratio (FCR) in the T1 and T2 groups (p < 0.05). Compared with the other groups, the lightness (L*) and pH were significantly affected in the T2 group (p < 0.05). Compared with the CG, dietary supplementation of FTR significantly increased the nutrient digestibility of crude protein (CP), ether extract (EE), calcium (Ca), and phosphorus (P), improved the lipase and trypsin activities, and reduced drip loss and the shear force of fatteners (p < 0.05). Glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) were significantly increased in the T2 and T3 groups compared with the other groups (p < 0.05). Supplementation of FTR in the jejunum significantly increased the villi height of the T2 group and the ratio of villi height to crypt depth of the FTR groups. Compared with the other two groups, the T2 and T3 groups significantly reduced the ratio of the villous height to crypt depth in the duodenum (p < 0.05). In conclusion, the tea residue after fermentation was shown to have beneficial effects on the fattening performance, digestion performance, meat quality, serum antioxidant capacity, and intestinal morphology of fatteners.

Cacumen Platycladi (CP) consists of the dried needles of Platycladus orientalis L.) Franco. It was clinically demonstrated that it effectively regenerates hair, but the underlying mechanism remains unknown. Thus, we employed shaved mice to verify the hair growth-promoting capability of the water extract of Cacumen Platycladi (WECP). The morphological and histological analyses revealed that WECP application could significantly promote hair growth and hair follicles (HFs) construction, in comparison to that of control group. Additionally, the skin thickness and hair bulb diameter were significantly increased by the application of WECP in a dose-dependent manner. Besides, the high dose of WECP also showed an effect similar to that of finasteride. In an in vitro assay, WECP stimulated dermal papilla cells (DPCs) proliferation and migration. Moreover, the upregulation of cyclins (cyclin D1, cyclin-dependent kinase 2 (CDK2), and cyclin-dependent kinase 4 (CDK4)) and downregulation of P21 in WECP-treated cell assays have been evaluated. We identified the ingredients of WECP using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q/TOF-MS) and endeavored to predict their relevant molecular mechanisms by network analysis. We found that the Akt (serine/threonine protein kinase) signaling pathway might be a crucial target of WECP. It has been demonstrated that WECP treatment activated the phosphorylation of Akt and glycogen synthase kinase-3-beta (GSK3β), promoted β-Catenin and Wnt10b accumulation, and upregulated the expression of lymphoid enhancer-binding factor 1 (LEF1), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF1). We also found that WECP significantly altered the expression levels of apoptosis-related genes in mouse dorsal skin. The enhancement capability of WECP on DPCs proliferation and migration could be abrogated by the Akt-specific inhibitor MK-2206 2HCl. These results suggested that WECP might promote hair growth by modulating DPCs proliferation and migration through the regulation of the Akt/GSK3β/β-Catenin signaling pathway.

We report the first experimental observation of spatial solitons with complex polarization states, called the Poincaré polarization solitons (PPSs) in lead glass with strongly nonlocal nonlinearity. The formations of PPSs with topological charge of l = 1, including the cylindrical elliptical-polarization soliton (CEPS) and the angularly-hybrid polarization soliton (AHPS), were observed. We showed that the annular profiles and the complex polarization distributions of the first-order PPSs can be remained. Based on the linear stability analysis, we proved that the first-order PPSs are fully stable and the second-order PPS can survive only when one of the two component vortices dominates.

In order to increase the power density of the power factor correction converter, a novel integrated structure for both the electromagnetic interference (EMI) filter and the boost inductor is proposed with the flexible multilayer foil integration technique, which can reduce the volume of these passive components. Also, the performance of the proposed integrated structure is investigated based on the distributed electromagnetic component model. Furthermore, the design procedure for the integrated structure is detailed. Finally, a prototype of the integrated structure for both the EMI filter and the boost inductor has been built and the experiments demonstrate the validity of the integrated structure. Ni(OH)2nanoplates were successfully synthesized and in situassembled on reduced graphene oxide (RGO) nanosheets by a simple one-pot method. This RGO-Ni(OH)2nanocomposite was characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), Raman and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). TEM images showed that the composite was round and that leaf-shaped nanoplates with a diameter of about 150 nm assembled on the RGO nanosheets. EDX, XRD, Raman and XPS characterization proved that the constituent parts of the composite were Ni(OH)2and RGO. Moreover, the amount of Ni(OH)2assembled on the RGO could be adjusted simply by changing the volume of NiCl2added to the reactant mixture. For the strong catalytic ability of the high-valent oxydroxide species (NiOOH) formed in alkaline media, the RGO-Ni(OH)2nanocomposite was used as the matrix for the non-enzymatic detection of glucose. A low detection limit of 0.6 μM with a wide linear range from 2 μM to 3.1 mM (R= 0.9987) could be obtained. This review highlights recent advanced researches on the assembly of various metallic nanostructures by oligonucleotide and plasmid DNA. The obtained DNA–nanoconjugates show many unique and attractive properties, while this review focuses on their properties related to SERS detection. The applications of DNA-based assemblies in SERS detections were fully commented upon, for the detection of DNA, proteins, small molecules, and metallic ions. Finally, a concluding section is given, which covers the challenges and scope for DNA assembled nanostructures as well as for the DNA assemblies-related SERS detections. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The controllable synthesis of hollow polyhedral hetero-structures composed of metallic and metallic–semiconductor nanograins has aroused great attention not only for the synthetic challenge, but also for the novel functions offered by their unique micro-/nanostructures. Herein, both Au and Au–CuO hierarchical heterostructured cubic microcages have been prepared using Cu2O cubes as sacrificial templates in aqueous solution. The micro-sized Au cubic cages are composed of Au nanograins about 20 nm in size with abundant pores inside the cage walls. Each individual Au–CuO hetero-structured cubic cage is assembled with both gold nanoparticles and CuO nanoneedles. A growth mechanism for the formation process of these delicate hierarchical cubic architectures is presented. Furthermore, the reflection loss (dB) spectra measured in the frequency range 2–18 GHz showed that the Au–CuO hollow hetero-structured cubic cages have an improved electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding effectiveness (SE) compared to that of both Au hollow cubic microcages and conventional Au hollow microspheres.
