The sustainable development of novel photo/electrocatalytic CO2/N2 fixation for chemical synthesis is predicated on reliable, accurate, and rapid detection methods. The directness, specificity, and simultaneity in detecting multiple molecules of the 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (1H‐NMR) technique have aroused increasing interest in photo/electrocatalysis. Thus far, two data processing means have been developed for the precise 1H‐NMR data processing: peak integral and peak height methods. However, few detailed studies offer a clear steer for choosing data processing methods for the concerned products in photo/electrocatalysis, especially the guidelines under the conditions of baseline distortions induced by water suppression. Herein, the feasible practices are restudied to quantify classical products in photo/electrocatalytic CO2/N2 fixation. On the basis of experimental results, 1H‐NMR data processing methods (peak integral and peak height methods) are found to convey different applicability for the different low‐concentration products, while introducing water suppression in the 1H‐NMR tests. The essential reason can be attributed to the baseline distortions caused by the water suppression, which arouses differentiated deviation of peaks with different peak widths. With this in mind, an accessible quantification criterion is provided to avoid superfluous input of time or cost in precise 1H‐NMR detection of low‐concentration products. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Selective and efficient electrochemical conversion of cheap and abundant biomass derivatives into high‐value‐added products can provide a way to store large‐scale renewable intermittent energy such as wind energy, solar energy, etc. Although a large amount of research is devoted to developing highly efficient catalysts or disclosing the reaction processes, there are always challenges of conversion rate and selectivity, and the relevant comprehensive and in‐depth discussion is relatively scarce. This review introduces the basic principles and reaction processes from the charge transfer pathway of biomass electrochemical conversion. Then, for the design of the anode, the representative work is summarized and discussed in detail from the point of view of material adjustment, theoretical calculations, and in situ characterizations. Finally, insights for further optimization of the reaction systems are put forward. It is believed that this review provides guidance for the selection, design, and application of materials for high‐value‐added organic electrochemical synthesis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Electrochemical acetylene reduction (EAR) employing Cu catalysts represents an environmentally friendly and cost‐effective method for ethylene production and purification. However, Cu‐based catalysts encounter product selectivity issues stemming from carbon‐carbon coupling and other side reactions. We explored the use of secondary metals to modify Cu‐based catalysts and identified Cd decoration as particular effective. Cd decoration demonstrated a high ethylene Faradaic efficiency (FE) of 98.38 % with well‐inhibited carbon‐carbon coupling reactions (0.06 % for butadiene FE at −0.5 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode) in a 5 vol % acetylene gas feed. Notably, ethylene selectivity of 99.99 % was achieved in the crude ethylene feed during prolonged stability tests. Theoretical calculations revealed that Cd metal accelerates the water dissociation on neighboring Cu surfaces allowing more H* to participate in the acetylene semi‐hydrogenation, while increasing the energy barrier for carbon‐carbon coupling, thereby contributing to a high ethylene semi‐hydrogenation efficiency and significant inhibition of carbon‐carbon coupling. A new newt species, Hypselotriton huanggangensis sp. nov., is described based on nine specimens collected from Huanggangshan Mountains, Yanshan County, Jiangxi, China. Morphologically, the new species is characterized by the combination of nine external characters: (1) obvious black patches with clear boundaries on the whole body; (2) ground color of the dorsal body tan; (3) ground color of venter bright orange; (4) skin rough; (5) vertebral ridge weak; (6) fingers and toes overlapping when forelimb and hindlimb adpressed towards each other along body; (7) postocular orange spot absent; (8) small white warty glands around the eye; (9) two discontinuous longitudinal lines formed by white warty glands from neck to lateral parts of tail. Molecularly, the new species forms an independent clade with strong support in the phylogenetic trees of the genus based on the mitochondrial locus of NADH dehydrogenase subunit 2 (ND2) gene fragments. The new species distinctly differs from H. fudingensis by differences in its body measurements, vertebral ridge, dorsal black patches, and ventral black patches. Furthermore, the new species and H. fudingensis are geographically isolated by a series of high mountain ranges, including the Wuyishan and Jiufengshan Mountains. Methane as the main component in natural gas is a promising chemical raw material for synthesizing value‐added chemicals, but its harsh chemical conversion process often causes severe energy and environment concerns. Photocatalysis provides an attractive path to active and convert methane into various products under mild conditions with clean and sustainable solar energy, although many challenges remain at present. In this review, recent advances in photocatalytic methane conversion are systematically summarized. As the basis of methane conversion, the activation of methane is first elucidated from the structural basis and activation path of methane molecules. The study is committed to categorizing and elucidating the research progress and the laws of the intricate methane conversion reactions according to the target products, including photocatalytic methane partial oxidation, reforming, coupling, combustion, and functionalization. Advanced photocatalytic reactor designs are also designed to enrich the options and reliability of photocatalytic methane conversion performance evaluation. The challenges and prospects of photocatalytic methane conversion are also discussed, which in turn offers guidelines for methane‐conversion‐related photocatalyst exploration, reaction mechanism investigation, and advanced photoreactor design.
