"Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio," a renowned classical literary work by Pu Songling from the Qing Dynasty, has been translated into English by Herbert Giles (1842) and John Minford (2006), both retaining the same title. This study examines and compares these two English translations, analysing their respective translation strategies, which can be broadly categorized into domestication and foreignization. The analysis is framed within Lawrence Venuti's theoretical framework, providing the basis for examining the strategies employed in each version. The study focuses on two primary aspects: the strategies and methods used in translating cultural terms, and the characteristics of the translations concerning type-token ratios, word length, and sentence length. The comparative analysis reveals that Giles predominantly employs a domestication approach, while Minford favours a foreignization strategy. However, these findings represent tendencies rather than rigid principles, highlighting the necessity for adaptable approaches to achieve effective translation outcomes.

This research investigates the post-internship phase for cadets at the Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Pelayaran Jakarta with a focus on curriculum effectiveness, vocational training impact, language proficiency challenges, technology integration preferences, and the intricate influence of geographical diversity. Results reveal the integrative curriculum's success in transitioning theoretical knowledge to practical application, emphasizing the critical role of vocational training. Language proficiency nuances and a desire for balanced technology integration emerge, while geographical diversity affects cultural adaptation. Implications include refining maritime education, fostering inclusivity, and aligning educational practices with industry demands. Recognizing limitations, the study advocates for broader institutional research and targeted language proficiency investigations in future studies.

This study aimed to interpret and describe students' mathematical thinking processes of non-routine mathematical problems that were solved based on didactic situation theory. This study uses a qualitative method, a phenomenological hermeneutics study for grade 8 students at a junior high school in Banda Aceh in the 2021-2022 academic year. Research data obtained through data were collected using instruments, namely written tests based on the didactic mathematical situation theory framework, structured observation, documentation, and clinical interviews carried out after the action. The results of the study show that the students' mathematical thinking processes in the critical reflection category can reach the convincing stage with algebraic arguments in validation situations. Subjects in the explicit reflection category can reach the convincing stage by providing arithmetic arguments in validation situations. Meanwhile, the category of students who cannot solve problems and can only specialize by giving examples of what is being asked. Students in this category have difficulty identifying relevant patterns and formulating the mathematical models needed to solve the problems. To support students in developing the level of mathematical thinking, the teacher can present contextual problems that are in accordance with the level of student thinking, can predict possible responses or ways of thinking of students to the problems given and present problems according to the structure of the concept sequence and the functional order of students' thinking. To support students in algebraic thinking category, teachers can start learning by presenting contextual problems that are easily recognized by students, then expand that context in symbolic form.

What kinds of leaders does the world need today to achieve a sustainable tomorrow? This article focuses on the importance of envisioning values-based leadership in a pursuit of collective well-being, in light of unprecedented change today, uncertainty about tomorrow, and a lack of clear vision of desired futures. The authors make the case for the importance of formal and informal leaders today and in the future understanding themselves as part of a broader system, and becoming aware of their own competencies, attributes, values, and limitations. The emerging aspects of what leadership can do to promote a sustainable future and lead on the path call for shifts in the current understanding of leadership roles and characteristics. More effective approaches may be found through exploring explicit, transparent values-based leadership as well as new forms of engaging in partnerships and addressing systems holistically. When engaged, higher education can play crucial new roles in preparing much-needed knowledgeable and compassionate leaders, fostering and influencing behavior across societies, and leading future generations to live life purposefully and skillfully in the global pursuit of a sustainable future for all.

Academic dishonesty has become a serious concern, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic era, where online learning is left as a single option in almost all academic activities. Lack of graduate ethics has an impact on attitudes in the workplace. Therefore, it is important to introduce academic integrity to students in higher education to foster an attitude of honesty in the world of work, especially ethics. Online lectures encourage students to violate academic integrity due to the lack of direct interaction and administration. This study aims to see the level of academic dishonesty that occurs during online lectures. The research was conducted by the Faculty of Economics and Business, public and private universities. The number of samples is 431 students of economics and business. We examine the effect of lecture administration, lecturer-student interaction, and learning satisfaction on the impact of academic dishonesty. The results showed that clear administration and good interaction between lecturers and students would increase student learning satisfaction and reduce academic dishonesty. But the satisfaction that students want to achieve does not have a significant effect on the level of academic dishonesty. Implications for practice are discussed and future research directions are offered.

Formulating the right feed based on the requirements of the fish species is the main solver to reduce the high cost of aquaculture production. In formulating suitable diet, factors such as the sustainability or availability of the feed sources used, quality of the feeds and price of raw materials, need to be taken into account as well so that the diets can be formulated at least cost. Low cost diets using local feed ingredients were formulated in pelleted and extruded forms and fed to juvenile African catfish, Clarias gariepinus, to determine their effect on the growth performance of the fish. Two formulations were tested: Diet A - Formula 1 MARDI and Diet B - Formula 2 MARDI, which were formulated to be iso-caloric and iso-nitrogenous with 32 % digestible protein and energy value of 14 MJ/kg. A commercial diet (Diet C) was included as a control. At 15 wk of culture, fish fed diet C showed the highest growth performance in terms of weight gain, feed conversion ratio (FCR) and specific growth rate (SGR). There were no significant differences (P>0.05) found among diets for weight gain and feed intake. However, FCR and SGR of Diet C were significantly better (P

University is a remarkable institution which is always expected to change the world through its constantly innovative technology and science advancement and civilization promotion. Academic institution relies on its efficacious leader with vision and implementation to fully accomplish its missions. However, limited attention goes to this crucial leader's requirements and characteristics, even faculty members in the higher education institutions studiously conduct research for external organizations. This paper presents a comprehensive analysis addressing innovative academic leader's characteristics based on the current global situation, university mission, and unique culture. Finally, this article concluds the competencies and characteristics of efficacious academic leader demands in this changing era: envisioning the institutional future, integrating social resources with reciprocity, modeling the way with morality and integrity, executing university missions with professions and humanity, empowering team members with full support, and inspiring students with humanity. Those integrated characters could effectively guide faculty members for their future self-development, and contribute to achieving university mission on science development, producing high-quality human resources, and contributing of the human civilization promotion. This conclusion retrospectively raises further suggestions for future study, how faculty members build these characters considering the unique and complex situation of interpersonal and external factors within the university.

In the era of globalization, digital literacy has become one of the competencies that students must possess. Rarely can one find research that examines the effect of the WE-ARe model on digital literacy in biology education. WE-ARe is a constructivist-based active learning model consisting of Warm-up, Exploring, Argumentation, and Resume phases that emphasize students' collaborative and elaborative qualities. The objective of the study was to determine the impact of the WE-ARe model on the digital literacy of future biology teacher candidates. This is a quasi-experimental study using the Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The research population comprised all Tadris Biology students from IAIN Ternate and STKIP Kie Raha in the City of Ternate, North Maluku, Indonesia. The research sample contained 60 fourth-semester students from the Department of Tadris Biology. The validity score for the literacy digital instrument was 3.89 (very valid), while the correlation value (r-calculated) was 0.585. The Cronbach-Alpha analysis showed a score of 0.939, indicating that the literacy digital instrument was valid and reliable for use in data collection. This study was conducted during the even semester of the 2021/2022 academic year. The data were analyzed through ANACOVA using 5% level of significance. The results demonstrated that the WE-ARe model had an impact on the preservice biology teachers' digital literacy. The findings of this study provide an insight on the use of a new learning model that can be used to enhance students' 21st century skills.

This study aims to explore students' perceptions and experiences of online learning and their implications for identifying student needs for guidance and counseling in tertiary institutions. This research uses quantitative methods. Purposive sampling technique was chosen to determine the sample. A sample of 1158 students participated in online learning at various universities in Indonesia by filling out an online survey. The results of the study show that different students have different perspectives about online education. Some thought that online education was significant while other thought it was unimportant. The education system in Indonesia has not developed a representative online education system. Online learning is something new, the availability of technological devices is inadequate and students are not ready for online lectures. Students have difficulty understanding the material, do not get adequate feedback and there is a lack of interaction between lecturers and students. Some students are of the opinion that online learning is quite effective. The implications of this research can be used to evaluate and identify the needs of students who are studying online. The results can be used as a basis for consideration in developing a comprehensive guidance and counseling service program. Online learning is followed by students effectively and efficiently.

Introduction: Holistic Approach in Lowering and Tracking Chronic Kidney Disease (HALT-CKD) is a nationwide programme that was introduced in 2017 to combat CKD in Singapore. This study aims to evaluate outcomes of the HALT-CKD programme and identify factors influencing disease progression among early CKD patients. Method: We conducted a retrospective cohort study involving adult patients aged 21 to 80 with CKD stages G1–G3A, recruited from 5 Singapore polyclinics between 2017 and 2018. The primary outcome—time to progression to advanced CKD (G3B–G5)—was tracked until March 2023, based on patients’ last known serum creatinine levels. Descriptive statistics and Cox regression were used. Patients who followed up with other institutions, were deceased or defaulted without developing (or experiencing) the outcome were censored. Results: We studied 3800 patients (mean age: 61.9 years) for a median of 4.7 years. Among them, 12.6% developed advanced CKD despite statistically significant improvements in HbA1c, blood pressure and albuminuria levels. Increasing age, female sex, clinic, baseline creatinine, diastolic blood pressure and HbA1c significantly shortened time to CKD progression. Macro-albuminuria at baseline (hazard ratio [HR] 1.77, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.19–2.61) and at analysis (HR 2.22, 95% CI 1.55–3.19) significantly accelerated advanced CKD progression. Patients who had their angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEi)/angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) dose reduced or discontinued progressed to advanced CKD earlier (HR 1.92, 95% CI 1.50–2.45). Counselling and sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitor (SGLT2i) use did not significantly delay CKD progression. Conclusion: Maintaining optimal ACEi/ARB dosage is essential to delay CKD progression. Premature cessation or reduction of this dosage should be discouraged. Further research on counselling and SGLT2i use in early CKD is needed to address the growing burden of CKD.

Maka, mengetahui sentimen pengguna pada aplikasi Shopee dapat mengetahui perilaku pelanggan dan meningkatkan penjualan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode TF-IDF dan algoritma LSTM. Adapun tahapan penelitian seperti scrapping data yang menggunakan ulasan pengguna aplikasi Shopee di Google Play Store sebanyak 3565 data. Lalu data dikategorikan menjadi tiga kelas: positif, netral, dan negatif. Proses preprocessing meliputi Tokenization, Normalization, Stopword, dan Stemming. Selanjutnya dilakukan proses train data dan data test sebesar 8:2. Lalu melakukan vektorisasi dengan TF-IDF, melatih model dengan penggabungan TF-IDF dan LSTM (Long Short-Term Memory), serta menggunakan metrics untuk mengevaluasi model dan visualisasi menggunakan word cloud. menghasilkan akurasi sebesar 83% dengan nilai loss (kerugian) sebesar 0.1385. Model memiliki kemampuan cukup baik dalam memprediksi kelas negatif dan positif tetapi kurang efektif untuk kelas netral karena data yang kurang seimbang.

Abstract Arterial thrombosis is a leading cause of death and disability worldwide with no effective bioassay for clinical prediction. As a symbolic feature of arterial thrombosis, severe stenosis in the blood vessel creates a high-shear, high-gradient flow environment that facilitates platelet aggregation towards vessel occlusion. Here, we present a thrombus profiling assay that monitors the multi-dimensional attributes of thrombi forming in such biomechanical conditions. Using this assay, we demonstrate that different receptor–ligand interactions contribute distinctively to the composition and activation status of the thrombus. Our investigation into hypertensive and older individuals reveals intensified biomechanical thrombogenesis and multi-dimensional thrombus profile abnormalities, endorsing the diagnostic potential of the assay. Furthermore, we identify the hyperactivity of GPIbα-integrin αIIbβ3 mechanosensing axis as a molecular mechanism that contributes to hypertension-associated arterial thrombosis. By studying drug-disease interactions and inter-individual variability, our work reveals a need for personalized anti-thrombotic drug selection that accommodates each patient’s pathological profile.

There is no known artificial breeding method for depik fish Rasbora tawarensis. Sperm extender and the dilution ratio are crucial factors in the artificial breeding of fish. The current study aimed to assess the effect of several common fish sperm extenders and its dilution ratio on sperm characteristics and fertilization of depik fish eggs. Two series of experiments were performed to find the best extender and its dilution ratio. In the first experiment, five types of extenders were tested: Ringer’s solution, physiological solution, coconut water, sugarcane water, and roomie water. The second experiment studied four dilution levels of sperm and extender (v/v): 1:20, 1:30, 1:40, and 1:50. Every treatment was conducted in four replicates and the experiments were conducted consequently so that the findings in the first experiment were applied in the second. The first experiment showed that Ringer’s is the best extender for depik sperm with sperm motility, fertilization and hatching rates of 71.00%, 69.30%, and 53.66%, respectively; and the second experiment revealed that Ringer’s at dilution ratio 1:40 gave higher sperm motility, fertilization, and hatching rates of 74.66, 70.33, and 59.00%, respectively. In conclusion, Ringer’s solution was the most favorable extender for sperm which yielded best fertilization results at 1:40 dilution ratio (sperm:extender, v/v) in depik fish.

Abstract The present research investigated the association between a series of motivational factors and burnout syndrome among elite skiers at the contextual level within the Hierarchical Model of Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivation (HMIEM). There are 352 subjects (258 males, 94 females, aged 18 to 25 years) across five skiing events from three sport universities in this study. Four psychological scales related to motivational factors and burnout syndrome were completed by subjects. Overall, the result showed that a task-involving climate had a positive relationship with basic psychological needs, eliciting a positive pathway to autonomous motivation, and thus negatively affecting burnout syndromes. On the other hand, an ego-involving climate had a negative relationship with basic psychological needs, eliciting a negative pathway to amotivation, and then positively affecting burnout syndromes. The results underscore the intricate associations between a variety of motivational factors and athletes’ burnout syndrome, supporting the need to incorporate burnout syndrome elements into the outcomes of HMIEM sequence.

Objective: To address the lack of research on invasive group B Streptococcus (GBS) infections in Malaysia and Southeast Asia through a comprehensive analysis of GBS isolates obtained from hospitals. Methods: Medical records from patients with GBS infection isolated from the sterile site, such as blood and cerebrospinal fluid from 14 July 2019 to 15 December 2020, were reviewed from six major hospitals in Peninsular Malaysia. Inclusion criteria were invasive GBS, sterile sites and non-repeated GBS isolated from the same patients in the same admission. Viable isolates were re-identified for GBS and serotyped. Results: A total of 118 patients were eligible, with a majority of non-pregnant adults (76.3%). Over half of the patients (62.7%) had underlying medical conditions, with diabetes as the most common disease, followed by respiratory disease, renal disease, cardiovascular disease and skin and soft tissue disease. The most common manifestations were sepsis, followed by soft tissue abscess, diabetic foot ulcer, wet gangrene and cellulitis. The overall mortality was 7.6%. The most common serotype was serotype V. Conclusions: Invasive GBS infection among non-pregnant adults showed a rising trend, particularly among diabetic individuals. The study underscores the importance of reducing risk factors and highlights the necessity of developing GBS vaccination as a preventive strategy for both infants and adults.

Abstract The sustainable development of sports facilities and their integration with the ecological environment are crucial in addressing global environmental challenges. This study examines the coupling coordination between sports facilities and the ecological environment in nine prefecture-level cities in Fujian Province, China, from 2013 to 2020, within the framework of China’s “Dual Carbon” strategy. Using a multidisciplinary approach that integrates economics, sociology, and geography, the study employs the entropy method and coupling coordination models to analyze the temporal evolution and spatial distribution of the coupling coordination between sports facilities and the ecological environment. The findings reveal that the overall trend of coupling coordination is positive, with the degree of coordination improving over time from severe imbalance in 2013 to high-quality coordination by 2020. Economic factors, such as per capita GDP, positively influence the coupling coordination, while factors like population density and regional GDP have a negative impact. Coastal cities, such as Xiamen and Zhangzhou, demonstrate stronger regional correlations and play a critical role in improving the overall coupling level of the province. This research provides several recommendations for promoting orderly and optimal development, considering the distinct characteristics of sports facilities and the ecological environment.

Background: Glass ionomer cement (GIC) is a dental material often used in clinical practice. However, its use is limited due to its drawbacks. Natural resources such as propolis have been used to mainly enhance GIC’s antibacterial properties, but other properties attributed to this enhancement also require evaluation. Purpose: The study aims to evaluate the surface hardness, the surface roughness, and the water absorption of GIC containing ethanolic extract of propolis (EEP) from Trigona spp. Methods: Samples in this study were divided into four groups: GIC (control group); GIC + 25% EEP; GIC + 30% EEP; and GIC + 35% EEP. Surface roughness was measured using a surface roughness tester. Surface hardness was measured using a micro-Vickers hardness tester. Water absorption was measured by weighing the samples before and after immersion in distilled water. Surface characterization was carried out using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). Data was statistically analyzed using the Shapiro–Wilk normality test and one-way variance analysis along with the post-hoc Tukey’s test to determine significant differences between all four samples. Results: The statistical test showed significant differences in surface hardness and surface roughness between the control group and the GIC + EEP group. However, the test demonstrated no significant differences in water absorption between the control group and the GIC + EEP group. Conclusion: The addition of EEP to conventional GIC can affect its physical properties.

Abstract Whole genome sequencing (WGS) provides comprehensive, individualised cancer genomic information. However, routine tumour biopsies are formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded (FFPE), damaging DNA, historically limiting their use in WGS. Here we analyse FFPE cancer WGS datasets from England’s 100,000 Genomes Project, comparing 578 FFPE samples with 11,014 fresh frozen (FF) samples across multiple tumour types. We use an approach that characterises rather than discards artefacts. We identify three artefactual signatures, including one known (SBS57) and two previously uncharacterised (SBS FFPE, ID FFPE), and develop an “FFPEImpact” score that quantifies sample artefacts. Despite inferior sequencing quality, FFPE-derived data identifies clinically-actionable variants, mutational signatures and permits algorithmic stratification. Matched FF/FFPE validation cohorts shows good concordance while acknowledging SBS, ID and copy-number artefacts. While FF-derived WGS data remains the gold standard, FFPE-samples can be used for WGS if required, using analytical advancements developed here, potentially democratising whole cancer genomics to many.

Employee performance is one of the main drivers for company development. However, there is an emergence of quiet quitting behavior, which many Generation Z workers experience. This behavior is detrimental to the company because it affects employee performance. The objective of this study is to analyze the influence of perceptions of career development opportunities, job insecurity, and awareness of intelligent technology on quiet quitting and its correlation with work performance, especially in Generation Z in Jakarta, Indonesia. This paper adopts an explanatory research design to elucidate the causal relationships between these variables using quantitative methods. Stratified random sampling was used to ensure representative data. Questionnaires were distributed to 289 hotel employees in Jakarta, capturing diverse perspectives across various job roles and departments. The data were analyzed using SmartPLS. The results showed a significant negative relationship between perceived career development opportunities and quiet quitting behavior. A positive and significant relationship exists between job insecurity and quiet quitting behavior. The study identifies a positive correlation between awareness of smart technology and quiet quitting behavior. Additionally, the paper reveals a significant negative relationship between quiet quitting behavior and employee performance. Perceived career development opportunities significantly reduce quiet quitting behavior, while job insecurity and awareness of smart technology increase it. Quiet quitting behavior, in turn, significantly negatively impacts employee performance. Organizations can develop targeted strategies to reduce this behavior by understanding the factors influencing quiet quitting.

Information and communication technology have revolutionised many aspects of human interactions. One area which has received profound transformation is education and learning. Although technology-enhanced learning has widened access, and improved performance and quality; little has been achieved in many developing countries. The study is aimed at examining the predictors of readiness to accept online learning methods among faculty members (lecturers) in higher education institutions in Nigeria. Following the literature reviews, five factors (online learning attitude, online learning self-efficacy, management support, online content readiness and perceived benefit) were identified as the possible predictors of readiness to accept the online learning method. Using a sample of 277 valid respondents selected through proportional stratified sampling in 3 higher education institutions, it was found that online learning self-efficacy, management support, online content readiness and perceived benefit had statistically significant effects on readiness to accept online learning platforms among faculty members. Online learning attitude has no statistically significant effect on readiness to accept online learning methods. The study implies that faculty members (lecturers) who are confident in their ability to use the online learning method together with management support, institution E-content readiness and perception of benefit would accept the online learning method in teaching and learning.

Purpose: This paper aims to examine work design and the linkages of work design with the work-life balance of academics in higher education (HE). Design/methodology/approach: A sample of 307 academics was recruited for this study. The result was analysed using SPSS (statistical package of social science) and AMOS (analysis of moment structure) structural equation modelling (SEM). Findings: This paper discovered that high autonomy, task significance, task identity and feedback were linked to greater work-to-family enrichment (W-FE) levels amongst academics, whilst, low job autonomy, task identity and task significance were linked to high work-to-family conflict (W-FC) levels. Originality/value: This paper highlights the importance of promoting good academics' work-life balance by evaluating and improvising the academics' work design.

An autism spectrum condition is considered a lifelong condition. Affected individuals typically experience poorer psychosocial outcomes compared to non-autistic individuals. However, in Southeast Asian countries such as Malaysia, research about autism spectrum conditions beyond the early childhood context is scarce, and therefore, the prevalence and psychosocial outcomes of young adults with autism spectrum conditions remain largely unknown. This study aims to explore self-reported autistic traits among university students in Malaysia, and their relation to emotion regulation, stress, self-efficacy and quality of life. Data from 2732 students revealed that 0.3% of the students reported having an autism spectrum condition diagnosis, while 2.5% reported that they suspected having an autism spectrum condition, but did not obtain a formal diagnosis. This indicates that an estimated 2.8% of students might have a diagnosed or suspected autism spectrum condition. These two categories of students were found to have poorer self-efficacy, higher perceived stress and poorer quality of life, as compared to their peers. However, these students were not significantly different from their peers in emotion regulation. Overall, the findings pointed to negative psychosocial outcomes associated with autism spectrum condition and culture-specific associations between autistic traits and psychosocial outcomes.

Purpose: Education for sustainable development (ESD) has gained significant attention, but integrating ESD into existing education systems is challenging. The study aims to explore the challenges of ESD experienced by school leaders, focusing on the context of Malaysian schools. Design/methodology/approach: The study uses a qualitative approach with a single-case study design. Eight school leaders involved in the Johor sustainable education action plan (JSEAP) were interviewed and analyzed. The study uses thematic analysis to identify the challenges and other causes associated with the implementation of ESD. Findings: This study revealed that the school leaders perceived the ESD challenges at three levels. First, restriction to the standardized curriculum (systemic); second, resistance to change (organization) and third, awareness and readiness (individual). These themes stemmed from seven primary codes that school leaders encountered throughout the JSEAP program. Research limitations/implications: This paper is limited to a case study of the chosen schools and cannot be extrapolated to a larger population. Practical implications: The study benefits school leaders and educators concerned about ESD and its role in their schools and other academics interested in ESD. Originality/value: To the authors' knowledge, this is the first study to investigate ESD challenges in Malaysia. The novel discovery of the three levels of ESD challenges helps readers better understand the recent phenomenon of ESD implementation and compare it to other settings.

Plagiarism has become more prevalent in higher learning institutions. Tertiary students have the tendency to commit plagiarism as a quick solution for completing their assignments, or they may unintentionally commit it because they lack awareness towards it. Curbing plagiarism amongst tertiary students is important to maintain academic integrity. Thus, the study aimed to investigate whether there were any differences between genders on awareness and attitudes towards plagiarism amongst tertiary students. The study employed a quantitative method by using a set of questionnaires as the instrument to gather the data which was distributed via the class WhatsApp groups. The sample consisted of 50 undergraduate students from Universiti Teknologi MARA Cawangan Negeri Sembilan, Kampus Seremban, Malaysia, who were obtained through purposive sampling. The data collected were analysed by using the Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS). The results of the independent t-test demonstrated that there were no significant differences between genders on awareness and attitudes towards plagiarism. The results were also consistent when the Mann Whitney U tests were conducted. Therefore, the results suggest that being aware of plagiarism and attitudes towards plagiarism cannot be associated with gender. Consequently, higher learning institutions should educate all students regardless of gender to prevent plagiarism from occurring.

In current toxicological research, 2D cell cultures and animal models are well- accepted and commonly employed methods. However, these approaches have many drawbacks and are distant from the actual environment in human. To embrace this, great efforts have been made to provide alternative methods for non-animal skin models in toxicology studies with the need for more mechanistically informative methods. This review focuses on the current state of knowledge regarding the in vitro 3D skin model methods, with different functional states that correspond to the sustainability in the field of toxicology testing. We discuss existing toxicology testing methods using in vitro 3D skin models which provide a better understanding of the testing requirements that are needed. The challenges and future landscape in using the in vitro 3D skin models in toxicology testing are also discussed. We are confident that the in vitro 3D skin models application may become an important tool in toxicology in the context of risk assessment.
