Digital transformation serves as a new driving force and engine for enterprise innovation. Meanwhile, the national strategy of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality has set new goals and requirements for the green development of the Chinese manufacturing industry. From the three-dimensional perspective of "strategy-resource-institution," this paper explores the impact and mechanism of digital transformation on green technology innovation of Chinese manufacturing enterprises and the heterogeneous impact of the institutional logic of ownership structure. Using a sample of 1,016 A-share listed manufacturing companies on the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges from 2011 to 2019 and based on big data text mining and a negative binomial regression model, this study finds that: (1) Digital strategy significantly enhances green technology innovation capability of enterprises; (2) digital resource investment partially mediates the effect of digital strategy on the enhancement of green technology innovation capability; and (3) the ownership structure of enterprises plays a moderating role in the mediating relationship mentioned above. Specifically, compared to state-owned enterprises (SOEs), non-stateowned enterprises (NSOEs) show no significant difference in the stages where digital strategy promotes green technology innovation and guides digital resource investment. However, they demonstrate higher efficiency in transforming digital resource investment into green technology innovation. The robustness test indicates that the significant effect of digital strategy and resource investment on green technology innovation in enterprises remains valid in the medium term, with a continuous enabling effect. There is no significant difference between SOEs and NSOEs in the medium and long term in promoting green technology innovation through digital transformation. Further, introducing keyword text networks to explore the structural impact of digital strategy, this study finds that digital product and manufacturing strategy are adequate strategic dimensions to enhance green technology innovation capability, and digital financial strategy and digital marketing strategy have no direct promoting effect on green technology innovation of enterprises. From the perspectives of strategies, resources, and institutions, the research findings elucidate the process mechanisms of digital acceleration in the green transformation of manufacturing and the heterogeneous effect of ownership structure and provide critical theoretical insights into the role mechanisms and contextual factors of digitalization on green innovation in manufacturing enterprises. Moreover, this study offers scientific decision-making support for incentivizing the manufacturing industry to seize the opportunities of industrial digitalization and accelerate carbon peaking and carbon neutrality. Over the past century and a half, global technological leadership has shifted from Europe to the United States, while scholars argue that the world has seen that it is now shifting from the United States to China due to China's extraordinary catch-up in the past four decades, in which the public policy-oriented national innovation system development plays a critical role that might provide an alternative way for innovation-driven development especially for emerging markets. Even though encountering many challenges ahead, China is positioning itself to take over the global innovation leadership in the next few decades. Here in this article, we introduce a serious yet underexplored question: could China go beyond catch-up and become the global innovation powerhouse? Specifically, drawing from the holistic innovation perspective, which is an original theoretical paradigm for the mission-oriented innovation policy change, this article critically reviews, both qualitatively and quantitatively, China's remarkable innovation progress and main drivers in comparison with G7 countries plus South Korea and India, trying to provide a comprehensive and critical view of state-of-the-art research on China's innovation catch-up. We further explore the five major challenges that China must take seriously when marching toward the global innovation powerhouse. Finally, we propose a mission-oriented holistic STI policy design framework for both China and other emerging economies to go beyond catch-up in a competitive dynamic world. This article provides a new and holistic perspective to access China's innovation progress and challenges, also generates novel insights for scholars and public agencies to contribute to global innovation development, with a shared goal of achieving global sustainable development in the post-COVID-19 pandemic world. Innovation is the driver and accelerator for high-quality economic development and the transformation and upgrading of enterprises. At present, the world is undergoing significant changes unseen over the last century. Faced with the new world economic pattern and the new international relations in the postpandemic era, China should systematically clarify the prominent problems with the current scientific and technological (S&T) system, and establish new technological innovation strategies in the new era and new economic landscape, which are of great significance. Especially in the context of the new pattern of development, it is greatly highlighted how to systematically lower over-dependence on core technologies and resolve bottleneck problems with core technology arising from excessive attention to the international economic flows. Based on the medium- and long-term strategic background of the current new pattern of development, this paper explores the prominent problems of the S&T innovation system under the background of the new pattern of development from the perspectives of innovation policy system, regional innovation system, and enterprise innovation mode. Meanwhile, the paper believes that the innovation guidance system under the new pattern of development needs to be realized based on the guidance of the new innovation strategy of "opening thinking based on bottom lines and comprehensive indigenous innovation," and also the three leading paths of holistic innovation guided by the new pattern of the whole national institutional system, the future industry, and the world-class enterprises. A mixed monotone variational inequality (MMVI) problem in a Hilbert space is formulated to find a point such that for all , where is a monotone operator and is a proper, convex, and lower semicontinuous function on . Iterative algorithms are usually applied to find a solution of an MMVI problem. We show that the iterative algorithm introduced in the work of Wang et al., (2001) has in general weak convergence in an infinite-dimensional space, and the algorithm introduced in the paper of Noor (2001) fails in general to converge to a solution.

A novel flexible photoanode based on a silver nanowire (AgNW)/polymer composite electrode was fabricated and used for dye-sensitized solar cells. The AgNW/polymer composite substrate comprised a thin percolation network of AgNWs embedded on the surface of polyacrylic ester. As titanium dioxide film formed on top of the composite substrate, the effect of compression was investigated. Drop-cast sensitization was then used for both pressed and nonpressed photoanode, and the nonpressed one performed better. A cell efficiency of 0.91% was achieved under 100 mW cm simulated solar irradiation. After a bending test on the flexible photoanode, the solar cell retained 0.71% efficiency. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

International mergers and acquisitions (M&As) have been increasingly used by emerging market enterprises (EMEs) as a springboard for strategic assets to overcome latecomer disadvantages and build sustainable competitive advantages. While current literature only focuses on the M&As' impacts on acquirers, little is known about the impacts of EMEs' international M&As on their external stakeholders, such as rival firms. Based on the longitudinal data covering 325 large international M&As completed by Chinese public manufacturing firms during 2009–2015, empirical results show that international M&As at the industry level have significant negative influence on the sustainable performance of acquirers' rivals, and these negative relationship will be accentuated when the international M&As are horizontal M&As, when rivals are carrying out cost leadership strategy, and when those M&As are completed in the high-tech industry. This study enriches the literature of international M&As and the economic pillar of sustainability by pushing current research toward rival's perspective and denotes that firms need to consider the potential negative impact on the sustainability of their outside stakeholders (e.g., other firms and whole industry). It also generates practical implications for firms to actively deal with potential negative effects of competitors' international M&As on their sustainable performance, especially those players in the high-tech industry. How to exploit the precipitated internal and external knowledge to build dynamic capability in the era of big data remains a big challenge for innovation and business sustainability. This paper documents a novel perspective to address this challenge by exploring the double screen innovation knowledge management practice in Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Ltd. (COMAC). Drawing from the literature on knowledge management and knowledge-based view, this paper elaborates how the new type of knowledge management practice represented by the case of Double Screen Innovation (DSI) in COMAC could help enterprise build sustainable core competence, which provides new perspective for multi-level knowledge management towards business sustainability. DSI, as a novel way of knowledge management, optimizes the micro-level knowledge co-creation and sharing and macro-level organizational learning mechanisms to accelerate the knowledge accumulation and dissemination within the organization. The process of knowledge creation, transformation, and application helps to integrate and transform big data into useful business information, thus provides an endless driving force conducive to the establishment and promotion of the core competencies of enterprises. How CEOs with different characteristics act differently on R&D investment under the condition of financial constraints is an important but understudied question towards firms' sustainable innovation. Employing the dataset from China-Enterprise Survey 2012 of the World Bank, this study tests the impact of financial constraints on firms' R&D investment and the moderating role of CEO characteristics. Empirical results show that: (1) firm's financial constraints have a significant restricting effect on their R&D investment; (2) internal financial constraints have no significant restricting effect on R&D investment for firms with female CEOs in comparison with firms with male CEOs, while the external financial constraints have a significant restricting effect on R&D investment for both groups. (3) CEO experience has a non-linear moderating effect on the relationship between financial constraints and a firm's R&D investment. When the accumulated experience is overloaded, the positive moderating effect of CEO experience begins to decline and even become negative. Robustness tests further confirm these empirical findings. This study directly contributes to the literature of financing innovation and top management team's impact on firms' sustainable innovation, and generates insights on firms' R&D management under the condition of financial constraints.
