Objective: Testicular cancer (TCa) is still the most frequent solid organ cancer in men aged 15-35 years. Mean platelet volume (MPV) alteration is used as an indicator in some cancer. We evaluated MPV levels and their significance as one of the prognostic factors in TCa. Methods: Between January 2006 and October 2019, all TCa data of our clinic were researched. The coronavirus (COVID -19) pandemic has brought unprecedented restrictions to people's physical activities and routines. The COVID-19 pandemic may have reduced physical activity levels and increased inactivity for various reasons (e.g., closure of gyms, family time constraints, and reduced outdoor mobility). The aim of this study is to examine physical education teachers' physical activity levels during the COVID-19 pandemic period. 417 physical education teachers participated in the research, which was reached by convenience sampling. Personal information form and International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) short form were used for data collection in the study. Mann Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis and Spearman's correlation tests were used in the analysis of the data. When the distribution of physical education teachers participating in the study according to their physical activity (PA) levels was examined, it was found that 26.1% had low PA levels, 37.6% had medium and 36.2% had high. While 27.5% of men were in the low category, 35.3% were in the medium category and 37.3% were in the high category, it was found to be 24.9%, 39.9% and 35.2% in women, respectively. When the PA levels of the teachers were analysed according to age, years of service and body mass index (BMI) variables, there was a significant difference, but no significant difference was found in terms of gender. While there was a negative and significant correlation between total PA and years of service and age, a positive and significant correlation was found between experience and BMI and age. As a result, it can be concluded that physical education teachers continue their active lives despite the restrictions during the COVID19 pandemic period.

This transition promises to revolutionize connectivity by enabling seamless data downloads, high-quality video streaming, and instant access to applications. However, adapting to these advanced technologies poses significant challenges for infrastructure expansion, requiring innovative investment and deployment strategies. These strategies aim not only to enhance service quality but also to ensure extensive network coverage. To address the need for systematic planning in infrastructure investment, this paper presents a novel methodology that combines the Full Consistency Method (FUCOM) with cosine similarity analysis. This integrated approach effectively prioritizes service areas for the deployment of 5G technology, emphasizing the importance of detailed planning in mobile strategy development. By leveraging FUCOM to determine the weights of various criteria and employing cosine similarity analysis to rank service areas, the methodology facilitates efficient resource allocation and service quality enhancements. Empirical validation using real data from a Turkish telecommunications company confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. The results indicate that this integrated approach can significantly advance the telecommunications industry by providing essential insights for companies seeking to improve service quality amidst the transition to 5G and beyond. The successful implementation of the proposed algorithm demonstrates its effectiveness in addressing the challenges faced by telecommunications companies and underscores the importance of a data-driven approach in strategic decision-making and resource allocation. Furthermore, the findings suggest that the integrated FUCOM and cosine similarity analysis approach can offer a valuable tool for telecommunications companies worldwide, offering a systematic method for prioritizing infrastructure investments and enhancing network performance.

Bartin City is located in the Western Black Sea Region of Türkiye, where rainfall-induced landslides are more frequently observed. Although it is known that many landslides are induced by rainfall, there is limited knowledge regarding how rainfall triggers these landslides in the city. To clarify the triggering mechanisms of rainfall-induced landslides, a detailed field monitoring program was performed on a chosen area to represent landslides in Bartin. The instrumentation included the measurements of site suction, volumetric water content, groundwater level, and rainfall amount over a period of two years. Various stability analyses were performed regarding pore pressures after both transient flow infiltration analysis and site-measured suction values. The rainfall intensity–duration thresholds were obtained for both dry and wet periods as a result of the numerical analyses performed by means of parameters obtained from field monitoring. The results show that the wet period conditions create more critical conditions before failure compared to the dry period conditions, so landslides occur more easily in wet periods. According to the landslide–rainfall threshold relations, landslide-risk limits are reached if the rainfall intensity is over 10 mm/h for the dry periods and lasts between 0.85 h and 17 h depending on the saturated hydraulic conductivity of the soil. When the rainfall intensities are less than 10 mm/h, longer rainfall durations are needed for a landslide to occur. For the wet periods, landslide-risk situations are encountered if the rainfall intensity over 1 mm/h continues for 0.36 h–3.67 h, depending on the saturated hydraulic conductivities.

INTRODUCTION: We present a modification to the Bricker technique involving 124 anastomoses in a 62-patient series, and the outcomes of the procedures that have been carried out successfully to date in our clinic. METHODS: The study sample included patients who applied to our clinic for whom a radical cystectomy procedure was decided between 2012 and 2018. Among these patients, a retrospective evaluation was made of 62 patients on whom a diversion was performed using a modified Bricker technique during a radical cystectomy. RESULTS: The mean duration of follow-up was 15.9+-14 months, with a maximum of 59 months. There were 2 (3.2%) women among 62 patients. The preoperative stage was T3a in 5%, T2 in 56% and T1 high-grade in 39%. Among the 62 Bricker operations (124 anastomoses) carried out using the modified technique at our clinic, only one patient, who was stage T3b and who was being treated with postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy, developed left ureterohydronephrosis (0.8%). No stricture was observed in the other 123 anastomoses; and there were no late complications such as metabolic disturbance, stomal stenosis, pyelonephritis or lithiasis during the follow-up of the 62 patients who underwent a Bricker diversion. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: We believe that the lack of anastomotic leakage in none of the operated patients and the occurrence of stricture in only one of 124 anastomoses in 62 patients is evidence of the success of the technique.

We aimed to evaluate the association between preoperatively assessed DRR and prognosis in patients with TCa. Purpose: To investigate the effect on recurrence of vaporization of the tumor surroundings and suspicious areas with a plasma-kinetic (PK) system after transurethral resection (TUR) of nonmuscle invasive bladder cancer. Materials and Methods: The study included 121 patients with a primary superficial bladder tumor who were randomized as those who underwent TUR with the PK system (Group 1, n=62) and those who underwent TUR with the monopolar system (Group 2, n=59). The vaporization procedure was performed by suppressing the cutting option of the PK system for a period, which would accumulate energy sufficient to make swelling-waves on the mucosa very close to the area of the loop to be vaporized. Results: A total of 121 patients who met the study criteria were included for evaluation. Recurrence was determined in 21 patients in Group 1 (33.87%) and in 29 patients in Group 2 (49.15%) (p=0.088). Recurrence was close to the old resection site in 6 of 21 patients in Group 1, and in 13 patients in Group 2 (p=0.028); the difference was statistically significant. No statistically significant difference was determined between the two groups with respect to age, gender, number of tumor foci, rate or range of additional treatments applied, cigarette smoking rate, repeat TUR rate and rate of tumor en- countered in repeat TUR, T-stage, and tumor grade. Conclusions: The effect of vaporization on recurrence by the PK system may seem similar to the effect of standard TUR, the recurrence- lowering effect surrounding nonmuscle invasive bladder cancers is better.

Objectives: To evaluate our clinical data on extraperitoneal laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (eLRP) with 3 trocars. Materials and Methods: All consecutive low-risk and intermediate/high risk without lymphadenopathy prostate cancer patients undergoing eLRP with using just 3 trocars by single surgeon (Y.A.) between 2017 and 2018 were included. Clinical data including patients' demographics, intraoperative and postoperative data, complications, and follow-up were recorded and analysed. We are presenting a video of one such case of eLRP with simultaneously right inguinal hernia repair (total extraperitoneal repair) with using 3 trocars. Surgeon (Y.A.) performed modified surgical technique (Heilbronn technique) (1) for eLRP with 3 trocars. Results: There were 36 cases in total with mean follow-up was 8 ± 0.4 months. Mean age was 69 ± 4.1 years old (Table 1). Mean prostate specific antigen was 8.7 ± 2.1 ng/dl (Table 2). Mean operating time was 117 ± 18 min. and 22 cases (10 bilateral and extrafascial) were performed nerve-sparing eLRP. Mean estimated blood loss was 170 ± 80 ml. Mean hospitalization day was 2.7 ± 1 days. Mean catheter removal day was 8 ± 3 days. Surgical margin was negative for all cases with 3 complications (Clavien 2) without major complications. Twenty-seven (75%) patients were continent and 20 (%55.5) patients had erections. Conclusions: The first advantage of this initial series is using just one assistant holding laparoscopic optic with/without hand-eye coordination. Second one is to have similar functional and oncology results with traditional eLRP in the literature with fewer trocars. Indirectly, more cosmesis is third one, as our approach seems more minimally invasive than traditional eLRP.eLRP with simultaneously hernia repair is feasible, safe, and effective with using just 3 trocars in selected cases.

Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma is a multisystem disease presenting with painless lymph node involvement in patients between 40 and 70 years of age. Kidney failure can be seen in about 10% of lymphoma patients due to different reasons. However, renal failure caused by lymphomatous parenchymal infiltration of the kidneys is very rare. In this study, we present a case of bilateral primary renal lymphoma presenting with acute renal failure.

Atrazine (ATZ) is one of the most heavily used types of herbicide that is currently applied in the agricultural industry all around the world, especially Australia and the United States. This study investigates the effect of atrazine contamination on the mechanical characteristics of two Western Australian natural clays and one commercial type of clay. A series of the Atterberg limit, compaction, and torsional ring shear tests were performed on the clays contaminated with 2, 4, and 6% atrazine content. The results showed that increasing the atrazine content led to a reduction in both liquid limit (LL) and plastic (PL) of the tested soils. Similarly, the optimum moisture content (OMC) and maximum dry density (MDD) decreased by increasing the atrazine in all tested clays. The ring shear results showed that the peak shear strength and residual stress ratio of the clays decreased by increasing the contamination. Also, the results showed that atrazine contamination caused an increase in cohesion and a decrease in the friction angle of the tested soils. Also, longer periods of contamination caused a reduction in strength characteristics of the tested soils.

Objective: To evaluate clinical features and sequela in children with acute bacterial meningitis (ABM). Study Design: Multicenter retrospective study. Material and Methods: Study includes retrospective chart review of children hospitalised with ABM at 11 hospitals in İstanbul during 2005. Follow up visits were conducted for neurologic examination, hearing evaluation and neurodevelopmental tests. Results: Two hundred and eighty three children were included in the study. Median age was 12 months and 68.6% of patients were male. Almost all patients had fever at presentation (97%). Patients younger than 6 months tended to present with feeding difficulties (84%), while patients older than 24 months were more likely to present with vomitting (93%) and meningeal signs (84%). Seizures were present in 65 (23%) patients. 26% of patients were determined to have at least one major sequela. The most common sequelae were speech or language problems (14.5%). 6 patients were severely disabled because of meningitis. Presence of focal neurologic signs at presentation and turbid cerebrospinal fluid appearance increased sequelae significantly. Childen under 24 months of age developed neurologic sequelae more commonly than older children. Conclusion: Symptoms and signs were largely depending on the age of the patient. Speech or language problems were the most common sequelae following meningitis.

Ectopic prostate in the urinary bladder is quite rare. The presenting complaint may vary according to the location of the prostate tissue in the bladder. Patients usually present with hematuria, dysuria, bladder neck obstruction, kidney failure, and urinary tract infections. In this paper, we present a case of ectopic prostate arising from the anterior bladder wall.

OBJECTIVE: Assessed the usefulness of virtual cystoscopy performed with multidetector computed tomography (CT) in patients with different urinary bladder pathologies compared to the conventional cystoscopy. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Eighteen patients with different bladder pathologies, which consisted of 11 tumors, 3 diverticula, 2 trabecular changes and 2 stones, were assessed with conventional cystoscopy and virtual CT cystoscopy. The results of virtual CT cystoscopy were compared with the findings of conventional cystoscopy. We determined the detection rate and positive predictive value of CT imaging based virtual cystoscopy in the diagnosis of urinary bladder lesions. RESULTS: CT scanning was well tolerated by all patients, and no complications occurred. Images in 16 (88%) of the 18 virtual cystoscopic examinations were either of excellent or good quality. All tumors except one, 2 trabecular changes and 2 stones were characterized with similar findings in the both of methods. The masses ranged from 0.4 to 7.0 cm in diameter. While conventional cystoscopy could not evaluate interior part of the diverticulum, virtual CT cystoscopy could demonstrate clearly within it. There were no false-positive findings in our series. CONCLUSION: Virtual CT cystoscopy is a promising technique to be used in the detection of bladder lesions. It should be considered especially at the evaluation of bladder diverticula. In the future, it may be possible or even advantageous to incorporate into the imaging algorithm for evaluation of bladder lesion.

Children diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorders (ASD) may have serious behavioral problems such as aggression, self-injury, and violence. However, the literature on ASD either overrules any correlation between aggression and ASD or maintains the fact that the efforts to link them have so far been inconclusive. Although severe forms of violence are extremely rare in children with autism, there are a few cases reported in the literature with significant harm to siblings. We hereby report an 8-year-old boy with ASD who caused the death of his sibling by throwing her out of the window. Shared similarities of all defenestration cases indicate a pattern of high-risk behavior threatening the survival of minors. We recommend precautions against this high-risk behavior in children with ASD.
