A collective action approach to rice seed production is an inclusive method involving the community’s active participation at all stages of its execution. This all-inclusive strategy, however, has yet to be thoroughly investigated and published. This study explored how and to what degree an inclusive rice seed business of Gapoktan, based on a collective action approach, might be deployed in a sustainable rice seed company run by community groups. The research comprised the following stages: (1) establishment of a seed production business institution, (2) production of rice seeds, and (3) self-assessment of the performance of the seed production business institution. Institutional data were acquired through a questionnaire that references the European Foundation for Quality Management’s (EFQM) methodology. Three dimensions used were direction (purpose, vision, and strategy; organizational culture and leadership); execution (engaging stakeholders; coasting sustainable value; driving performance transformation); and result (stakeholder perceptions; strategic and operational performance). The study suggests essential findings: The organizational structure of rice seed producers formed is complete regarding its operational functions. The rice seeds produced by Gapoktan have met both the volume and quality standards. From a financial perspective, this rice seed production unit is feasible for further development. However, their social orientation is still relatively high and needs to be more profit-oriented. Uniquely, not all members buy and use Gapoktan seeds. As a result, additional efforts are necessary to provide exceptional service to Gapoktan members.

Smoking and obesity are major global public health concerns, each linked to various adverse health effects. This study aims to explore the complex relationship between smoking and obesity among adult males in North Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. Using data from the 2018 Indonesia Basic Health Survey, we conducted a cross-sectional study involving 4,994 male participants aged 18 years and older. Smoking status was classified as regular, irregular, or former smokers based on the subjects’ habits in the previous month. Multinomial logistic regression, analysis of variance, and chi-square tests were applied to examine the association between smoking and obesity. The results showed that ex-smokers had a higher likelihood of obesity compared to current smokers, with an adjusted relative risk ratio (RRR) of 1.63 (95% CI: 1.18–2.24). Irregular smokers were also more likely to be obese than regular smokers, with an adjusted RRR of 1.42 (95% CI: 1.11–1.88). However, no statistically significant association was found between smoking and being overweight. A positive association was observed between smoking and obesity, indicating that former smokers may face an increased risk of becoming obese.

Stigma on abortion has limited the study of abortion in several countries, including Indonesia. Understanding factors of abortion can improve programs and policies aimed at increasing women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights, especially abortion. This study aims to draw a picture of the behavioral determinants of women who had abortions. This cross-sectional study utilized data from a community-based survey of 8,969 randomly selected women aged 15-49 in six provinces in Java. Data were collected via an interviewer-administered structured questionnaire, collecting information on socio-demographic characteristics, experience using contraception, pregnancy, abortion, partner violence, and other issues related to reproductive health. Structural Equation Modeling Analysis was used to get an overview of the structural determinants of women who had abortions based on the concept of Integrated Behavioral Model Theory. Model fit with RMSEA value = 0.037, CFI = 0.924, and SRMR =0.048. Intention shows the most significant direct effect on abortion. The experience of physical and sexual violence, the attitude toward the impact of ending pregnancy, and the lack of contraception knowledge have a direct effect on increasing the intention to have an abortion.

Fermentation is one of the main processes influencing cacao beans’ quality. Proper post-harvest cacao processing can affect the quality of cacao beans. Spontaneous fermentation of cacao beans is carried out carefully for 5 d to 7 d, characterized by a series of activities of certain microorganisms from three groups of microorganisms: yeasts, lactic acid, and acetic acid. Yeast aims to liquefy the pulp, while lactic acid and acetic acid bacteria play a role in raising and lowering the pH of cacao beans during fermentation. The activity of microorganisms affects the formation of aromatic compounds in fermented cacao beans. During the fermentation process, there is a change in pH and an increase in temperature in the seed heap; this creates conditions that cause changes in the seed’s structure at the cellular level and the metabolites present in the seeds. Leucine, alanine, phenylalanine, and tyrosine are precursors contributing to cacao and chocolate aroma formation. The post-harvest processes affect the yield of cacao beans that will be used in the chocolate industry. Each process must be considered to produce high-quality fermented cacao beans.

Mosquitoes are insects that are detrimental to human health because they act as disease vectors, such as dengue fever. Surabaya was known for its high risk of dengue fever. This study aims to describe the diversity of mosquitoes and breeding site distribution in Eastern Surabaya. The study was conducted in 2021 during the end of the wet season in different habitat types in the eastern Surabaya (residential, city park, bamboo forest, and mangrove forest). Eggs, larval, and adult-stage mosquitoes were collected and stored in the Entomology Laboratory for morphological identification. Adult mosquito was collected by using a sweep net and light trap method, while the larva and egg were collected incidentally from breeding sites. The diversity of mosquitoes in the Eastern Surabaya was determined by using the Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H’), dominance, species richness (R), and breeding site distribution. Eleven species were obtained in this study, namely Aedes aegypti, Aedes albopictus, Aedes annandalei, Anopheles subpictus, Anopheles vagus, Anopheles barbirostris, Culex bitaeniorhynchus, Culex pseudovishnui, Culex quinquefasciatus, Mansonia uniformis, and Malaya genurostris. The H’ index of 1.63 indicates the mosquito community was at a moderate level. The R-value of 1.56 indicates a low level of mosquito species richness. The most abundant species was Cx. quinquefasciatus (37.2%). Most of the breeding sites with mosquito larval infested were found in open areas (79.3%). These numbers mean the total of individuals of each species tends to be low and its dominance shows no effect on other species. The data on mosquito species and their distribution in Surabaya could be used as base information for vector control strategies.

The invasion of nipah (Nypa fructicans) occurred in the Air Telang Protected Forest (ATPF), Indonesia, as a result of mangrove forest degradation caused by anthropogenic activities in the area. This research aims to analyze the distribution of nipah populations in the ATPF and at the same time describe the benefits and potential of nipah both in the ATPF and in various regions in the world. The data collected in this research consists of two types, namely primary data and secondary data. Primary data was obtained through field surveys in the ATPF area, while secondary data was obtained through literature studies of relevant research results. Nipah populations can be widely distributed in degraded mangrove forest ecosystems and invade areas outside their natural habitat because they have high adaptability to the environment, high seed productivity and effective and adaptive seed distribution. Even though the spread of nipah in the ecosystem can hinder the succession of mangrove forests, it turns out that nipah has great benefits for the community and contains important compounds that are useful for making foods, drinks and medicine..

The addition of silicon carbide (SiC) as a reinforce in a composite can improve mechanical properties. In this study aluminium ADC 12 (Al-Si-Aluminium Alloy) is treated with an addition of SiC varied from (1; 1.5; 2; 2.5 to 3) vf% and mixed with 0.18 wt% Sr to change the morphology of the silicone eutectic phase and 0.15 wt% titanium boron (TiB) was added as a grain refiner as well as the addition of 5 wt% magnesium (Mg) to increase the wettability. All materials were fabricated by stir cast method. This research is conducted to obtain the candidate material for application in train's brake shoe and bearing. This kind of usage requires high mechanical properties such as wear resistance, thermal resistance, good elastic modulus and lightweight. The composites were characterised by both mechanical properties and microstructure. The result shows that there is an increase in the mechanical properties of aluminium ADC 12 /SiC composite compared to unreinforced with the value of 144 MPa of strength, 53 HRB of hardness, and 0.0049 mm3 m–1 of wear rate. As a result, the higher addition of the SiC results in the better mechanical properties for the composite.

Abstract Introduction Over the past four decades, the Indonesian health care system has greatly expanded and the health of Indonesian people has improved although the rich-poor gap in health status and service access remains an issue. The government has been trying to address these gaps and intensify efforts to improve the health of the poor following the economic crisis in 1998. Methods This paper examines trends and levels in socio-economic inequity of health and identifies critical factors constraining efforts to improve the health of the poor. Quantitative data were taken from the Indonesian Demographic Health Surveys and the National Socio-Economic Surveys, and qualitative data were obtained from interviews with individuals and groups representing relevant stakeholders. Results The health of the population has improved as indicated by child mortality decline and the increase in community access to health services. However, the continuing prevalence of malnourished children and the persisting socio-economic inequity of health suggest that efforts to improve the health of the poor have not yet been effective. Factors identified at institution and policy levels that have constrained improvements in health care access and outcomes for the poor include: the high cost of electing formal governance leaders; confused leadership roles in the health sector; lack of health inequity indicators; the generally weak capacity in the health care system, especially in planning and budgeting; and the leakage and limited coverage of programs for the poor. Conclusions Despite the government's efforts to improve the health of the poor, the rich-poor gap in health status and service access continues. Factors at institutional and policy levels are critical in contributing to the lack of efficiency and effectiveness for health programs that address the poor.

Inadequate Cardiorespiratory Fitness (CRF) during childbirth can lead to potential problems, including preterm birth, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, pain and discomfort during pregnancy, cesarean birth, and postpartum weight gain. This study aimed to assess the relationship between cardiorespiratory fitness during pregnancy and the quality of childbirth. An observational analytic study with a prospective cohort design was conducted among 52 pregnant women in their third trimester of gestation. Respondents were selected based on the purposive sampling technique. The variables - cardiorespiratory fitness, indicated by VO2max value, and the quality of childbirth - were respectively measured using the six-minute walk test and the Quality Childbirth Questionnaire, modified from the Pregnancy and Childbirth Outcome Set (PCB), the Childbirth Experience Questionnaire (CEQ), and the Birth Satisfaction Scale (BSS), which were declared valid and reliable. Data analysis used descriptive and bivariate analysis with the Chi-Square test with a Risk Ratio (RR). The results showed a p-value of less than 0.001, confirming the hypothesis. There is a meaningful link between high VO2 max scores and improved childbirth experiences, with a RR of 6.882 at a 95% confidence interval. This suggests that pregnant women with better cardiorespiratory fitness are 6.882 times less likely to have an adverse labor and delivery outcome. Improving cardiorespiratory fitness through strategic antenatal physical activity with aerobic exercises is recommended to gain a positive childbirth experience. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Pristine is a product manufactured by PT. Super Wahana Tehno, which applies high pH drinking water in its composition. This research aims to determine the influence of the marketing mix (4P) on purchasing decisions for the Pristine 8.6+ high pH drinking water product in Sidoarjo Regency, East Java. This study is Explanatory Research with a quantitative approach using a survey method through the distribution of questionnaires. Explanatory research is intended to explain the causal relationship between research variables and test the formulated hypotheses. The sample consists of 100 respondents with the criteria of being over 17 years old, residing in Sidoarjo City, and being consumers who are currently purchasing or consuming Pristine 8.6+ drinking water. The validity test uses Pearson's Product-Moment correlation formula, while the reliability test uses Cronbach's Alpha. Partial Least Square analysis is used for hypothesis testing in this study. The results show that 1) The product variable influences purchasing decisions for Pristine 8.6+ consumers, 2) Price has a positive influence on purchasing decisions for Pristine 8.6+ drinking water consumers, 3) The place variable does not positively influence purchasing decisions for Pristine 8.6+ drinking water, 4) Promotion has a positive influence on purchasing decisions for Pristine 8.6+ drinking water consumers, 5) There is an influence of the marketing mix on purchasing decisions. Both anterior and posterior approaches have shown insignificant differences in good clinical outcomes with one over another advantages and disadvantages. This review aimed to provide evidence for the best management of subaxial cervical spine injuries and discuss the clinical outcomes and complications. Clinical studies of anterior versus posterior and anterior versus anterior–posterior (combined) approaches to subaxial cervical spine injury were searched electronically from PubMed, Medline, ScienceDirect, Cochrane Library, and other Internet databases. Clinical improvement, complication rates, and mortality rates showed no significant differences with an odds ratio of 1.09 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.79–1.49; p=0.61) for the anterior versus posterior approach and an odds ratio of 1.05 (95% CI, 0.35–3.18; p=0.93) for the anterior versus the combined approach. Surgical duration and blood loss were significantly different between the anterior and posterior groups with a mean difference of −42.84 (95% CI, −64.39 to 21.29; p<0.0001); −212.91 (95% CI, −417.60 to 8.22; p=0.04), respectively, whereas the length of hospitalization did not (p=0.16). No difference was found between the groups when compared by clinical improvement and complication rate. This study investigates the impact of mulberry leaf extract on the viability, plasma membrane integrity, and motility of spermatozoa from male white rats (Rattus norvegicus) exposed to e-cigarette smoke. A total of twenty-five male rats were divided into five groups: negative control (NC), positive control (PC), T1, T2, and T3. All groups, except for the NC group, were exposed to e-cigarette smoke. Rats in the T1, T2, and T3 groups received mulberry leaf extract in doses of 100, 200, and 400 mg/kg bw, respectively, while the NC and PC groups were given a placebo of 1% Na-CMC. Both the mulberry leaf extract and the placebo were administered daily, beginning three days prior to the start of e-cigarette smoke exposure, which lasted for 28 days. Results showed that spermatozoa motility, plasma membrane integrity, and viability in the experimental groups were significantly lower than those in the NC group (p <0.05). Conversely, rats in the T1, T2, and T3 groups that received mulberry leaf extract demonstrated significantly greater spermatozoa viability, plasma membrane integrity, and motility compared to the PC group (p <0.05). The T3 group exhibited the most pronounced improvements, with significantly enhanced spermatozoa viability, membrane integrity, and motility (p <0.05) relative to the PC group. These results indicate that mulberry (Morus alba L.) leaf extract enhanced spermatozoa viability, plasma membrane integrity, and motility in white rats (Rattus norvegicus) subjected to e-cigarette smoke. Pyometra is a reproductive disease that most often affects cats which is caused by bacterial infection of the uterus. This study aims to determine the risk factors that could influence the occurrence of pyometra in cats. The study was conducted at the Four Leg Pet Care, Asa Animal Clinic, and K-5 Animal Care in Kediri regency in December 2021 to February 2022. This retrospective cohort study took secondary data for the period 2020 to 2021 as research material and found 35 cats diagnosed with pyometra. The odds ratio was calculated to analyze the associations to some factors including age, body weight, use of hormonal contraception, frequency of administration of hormonal contraception, hormonal contraceptive drugs used, dose of hormonal contraception given. Analysis of the relationship between risk factors for pyometra showed that the factors age, use of hormonal contraception, and frequency of giving hormonal contraceptives each have p values of 2.17, 2.13, and 2.13, respectively. It could be concluded that age, use of hormonal contraception, and frequency of administration of hormonal contraception influenced or had an association with the risk of pyometra in cats. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of administering a dose of gonadotropin (PG-600) in cows with persistent corpus luteum (PCL) which were treated with prostaglandin F2 a (PGF2a) and human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). This study used 20, three-year-old cows diagnosed with PCL, had recently given birth, and were not pregnant. Cows were randomly allocated into groups T0, T1, T2 and T3. Cows in all groups were injected with PGF2a (25 mg/cow). Simultaneously, cows in groups T1, T2 and T3 were also injected with PG-600 at doses of 100, 150 and 200 IU/cow respectively. PGF2a and PG-600 were injected when PCL was identified. After that, cows showing signs of estrus were injected with hCG (100 IU/cow) and artificially inseminated 12-18 hours after the appearance of signs of estrus. AI was conducted using frozen thawed semen. Sixty days following AI, a pregnancy examination was conducted using USG. Estrus was detected in all treated cows, while the pregnancy rates varied. Compared with other groups, the groups given 100 and 150 IU PG-600 produced higher pregnancy rates. It could be concluded that the combination of 25 mg PGF2a, 150 IU PG-600, and 100 IU hCG was the most effective treatment to produce high pregnancy rates in cows with persistent corpus luteum. This study aimed to know the effect of cloves (Syzigium aromaticum) methanol extracts as an antioxidant on the germ cells of white rats (Rattus norvegicus) with induced cryptorchidism. The subjects of this study were 24 male white rats aged 21 days, who were divided into six groups. Rats were adapted for 5 days, after which cryptorchidism were induced. Cloves extract was given for 18 days and 36 days. On day-19 and day-37, rats were sacrificed and testicles were taken for Protein Gene Product (PGP) 9.5 detection by immunohistochemistry. These groups consisted of negative control group (given distilled water and sham surgery), positive control group (induction of cryptorchidism and given distilled water), and T treatment group (induction of cryptorchidism and given 70mg/kg bw cloves extract. Kruskal-Wallis test indicated a significant difference (p <0.05). The differences between treatments were shown based on the outcome of the Mann-Whitney test. Cloves acted as an antioxidant for cryptorchid testicular germ cells. It could be concluded that administering methanol extract of clove flowers could ameliorate the expression of PGP 9.5 in the testicular germ cells of white rats in a model of unilateral cryptorchidism. Objective: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a leading cause of disability and death worldwide, with an estimated 64-74 million cases annually. The current gold standard for diagnosis is a computed tomography (CT) scan, which has limitations such as access, cost, and radiation risk. Therefore, a simple, accessible, and safe diagnostic modality is needed, one of which is biomarker examination. This study aims to establish the relationship between blood levels of the biomarker ubiquitin carboxy-terminal hydrolase-L1 (UCH-L1) and the severity of TBI based on the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) and Rotterdam CT score. Material and Methods: This observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design involved 41 samples aged 18-50 years who presented to the Emergency Department of Dr. Soetomo General Hospital, Surabaya, within 3-24 hours of the incident. UCH-L1 levels were measured from blood samples using the ELISA method, and the data on UCH-L1, GCS, and Rotterdam CT scores were analyzed with SPSS 29. Results: The mean UCH-L1 level was 0.522 ± 0.592, with a cutoff value of > 0.2057, indicating moderate to severe TBI if UCH-L1 levels exceeded 0.2057. Spearman's test and correlation coefficient analysis showed a strong relationship between UCH-L1 levels and Rotterdam CT score (p < 0.05), as well as between UCH-L1 levels and TBI severity based on GCS (p < 0.05). The cutoff value for Rotterdam CT score was > 2, indicating moderate to severe TBI if the score exceeded 2. Conclusion: Serum UCH-L1 levels are significantly associated with the severity of TBI based on GCS and Rotterdam CT score. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: In view of conflicting reports on the ability of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) to infect placental tissue, this study aimed to further evaluate the impact of inflammation and placental damage from symptomatic thirdtrimester maternal COVID-19 infection. Materials and Methods: This case-control study included 32 placenta samples each from symptomatic COVID-19 pregnancy and normal non-COVID-19 pregnancy. The villous placental area’s inflammatory expression [angiotensin converting enzyme-2 (ACE-2), transmembrane protease serine-2 (TMPRSS2), interferon-γ (IFN-γ), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and SARS-CoV-2 spike protein] and apoptotic rate were examined using immunohistochemistry and Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP Nick- End Labeling (TUNEL) assay. Comparison and correlation analysis were used based on COVID-19 infection, placental SARS-CoV-2 spike protein evidence, and maternal severity status. Results: Higher expressions of TMPRSS2, IFN-γ, and trophoblast apoptotic rate were observed in the COVID-19 group (p<0.001), whereas ACE-2 and IL-6 expressions were not significantly different from the control group (p>0.05). Additionally, SARS-CoV-2 spike protein was detected in 8 (25%) placental samples of COVID-19 pregnancy. COVID-19 subgroup analysis revealed increased IFN-γ, trophoblast, and stromal apoptosis (p<0.01). Moreover, the results of the current study revealed no correlation between maternal COVID-19 severity and placental inflammation as well as the apoptotic process. Conclusion: The presence of SARS-CoV-2 spike protein as well as altered inflammatory and apoptotic processes may indicate the presence of placental disturbance in third-trimester maternal COVID-19 infection. The lack of correlation between placental disruption and maternal severity status suggests the need for more research to understand the infection process and any potential long-term impacts on all offsprings born to COVID-19-infected pregnant women. This study aims to determine the effect of administration of ciplukan (Physalis angulate Linn.) leaf extract on the variables of testicular weight, seminiferous tubules diameter, and spermatozoa plasma membrane integrity of rats (Rattus norvegicus) exposed to heat as model animals. Rats were divided randomly into five groups. In the NC group, rats were not exposed to heat and were only given 1% Na-CMC. In the PC, T1, T2, and T3 rats were exposed to heat followed by administration of 1% Na-CMC, 100, 200, and 400 mg/kg bw of ciplukan leaf extract (CLE) in 1% Na-CMC. Heat exposure at 40°C was conducted for 60 minutes every day for 21 days. On day-22, all rats were sacrificed for testicular evaluation. The results showed that all variables in the PC group were lower (p <0.05) than in the NC group. All variables in the T3 group were higher (p <0.05) than in the PC group. Testicular weight and spermatozoa plasma membrane integrity in the T3 group were not significantly different (p >0.05) from the NC group. However, the diameter of the seminiferous tubules in the T3 group were lower (p <0.05) than in the NC group. This study revealed that the administration of ciplukan leaf extract as an antioxidant increased testicular weight, seminiferous tubules diameter, and spermatozoa with intact plasma membrane in rats exposed to heat. Reproductive disorders are the main cause of economic losses in beef herds. This study aimed to determine the type of reproductive disorder in beef cows in Kedamean district, Gresik regency, related to feeding, age, and parity. The method used for this study was a survey. Primary data was obtained from field surveys by interviewing farmers, animal health officials, inseminators, and direct inspection of cows and pens. Secondary data was obtained from the Gresik Animal Husbandry and Animal Health Service. The data obtained was then compiled and performed descriptively. The results showed that the number of productive cows in this study area was 935, of which 340 (36.36%) had reproductive disorders. The highest type of reproductive disorder was ovarian hypofunction (OHF) (14.55%, 136/935) and the smallest was cystic ovaries (0.11%, 1/935). Cows aged two and three years (heifers and first parity) have a percentage of reproductive disorders of more than 60% compared to cows of other ages, most of them (13.82% and 12.65%) were OHF. The cows fed straw have a greater percentage of reproductive disorders than cows fed field grass. Cases of OHF engaged the first position followed by cases of silent estrus and persistent corpus luteum. It could be concluded that reproductive disorders in the form of OHF, persistent corpus luteum, and silent estrus in several villages in Kedamean district, Gresik regency, East Java, Indonesia in 2023 mostly occured at the age of two to three years on heifers or first parity, fed straw. Introduction: Adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) have been subject of several studies due to their abundance, ease of preparation, and application in bone regeneration. We aim to compare effectiveness of alveolar reconstruction utilizing human cancellous freeze-dried graft (HCG) and beta tricalcium phosphate (BTP), both seeded with human ADSC (hADSC) and autologous bone graft (ABG). Material and Methods: A 5 × 5 mm alveolar defect in 36 male Wistar rats were treated using: ABG (C), HCG–hADSC (H1), and BTP–hADSC (H2). At 1 and 8 weeks after surgery, runt-related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), osterix (OSX), and bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP2; g/mL) were quantified using immunohistochemistry, while bone tissue volume (BV, mm3), bone tissue volume fraction (BF, percentage), and trabecular thickness of bone (TT, mm) were assessed using micro-computed tomography (CT). Results: One week after surgery, H2 was higher in RUNX2, OSX, ALP, and BMP2 than C (P <.05). Only RUNX2 and OSX were found to be higher in H1 than C, while ALP and BMP2 were higher in H2 than H1. Micro-CT revealed that H2 had a higher TT than C and C had a higher TT than H1 (P <.05). Eight weeks after surgery, both H2 and H1 was higher in RUNX2, OSX, ALP, and BMP2 than C (P <.05). RUNX2 and BMP2 were found to be higher in H1 than H2. Micro-CT revealed that H2 had higher BV and TT than C and H1 (P <.05). Conclusions: Exogenous hADSC strengthened the effectiveness of HCG and BTP to accelerate osteogenesis, osteoconduction, and osteoinduction. Background Vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) is one of the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI). With the increasing use of hormonal contraceptives, it is becoming increasingly important to investigate the role of hormonal contraceptives on the occurrence of VVC. This study aims to explore the association between hormonal contraceptive use and VVC. Methods This retrospective unmatched case-control study enrolled patients from the STI outpatient clinic of the the Dr. Soetomo Regional General Hospital Surabaya in 2017-2020. Results A total of 308 patients presented to the clinic, 132 (42.9%) of whom had VVC, and 84 (27.3%) of whom used hormonal contraceptives. Hormonal contraceptive use may increase the odds of developing VVC by 3.4-folds (95% CI: 1.97-5.89; p<0.001), independent of STI history and immunodeficiency disorders. In addition, oral contraceptive pills may increase the odds by 2.3- folds (95% CI: 1.25-4.34; p=0.008), while other hormonal contraceptives such as injectable or implants may increase the odds by 8.7-folds (95% CI: 3.13-24.28; p<0.001). Patients using hormonal contraceptives had a probability of suffering from VVC of 58.8%, while those of patients using OCPs and other hormonal contraceptives were 49.5% and 78.6%, respectively.
