Abstract

The article presents a study that distinguishes receptor tyrosine kinases that have a function in epidermal homoestasis. The study distinguishes genetic activation of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) by amplification or mutation in a small subset of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). The study shows that somatic mutations in some receptor tyrosine kinases discovered in some hyperproliferative epidermal conditions and epithelial cancers.

Abstract

The article presents the analysis of the presence of somatic mutations in NF-kB essential modifier (NEMO) in keratoacanthomas (KAs) from male patients. It highlights incontinentia pigmenti (IP) which described as a rare X-linked disease that is lethal in males. Moreover, IP is caused by mutation or genomic rearrangement of NEMO. Meanwhile, it features a discussion on types of skin tumors such as squamous-cell carcinomas (SCCs) and KAs.
