The measurement of penile systolic blood pressure has been largely used in the diagnosis of vasculogenic impotence. However, it fails in detecting mild genital vascular insufficiency. A penile-brachial index was determined, in this study, in 25 impotent men, at rest and after exercise in a bicycle ergometer. Patients with angiographically demonstrated pelvic arterial lesions showed a drop in PBI after exercise. statistically differing from those without signs of vascular disease. Post-exercise penile blood pressure is, thus, a sensitive test in the screening of vasculogenic impotence. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
