The article offers information on a study which aims to evaluate the occurrence of antibodies to Toxoplasma gondii as well as to detect genomic DNA of the parasite in the reproductive organs, fetuses and fetal membranes of sheep in abattoirs in Pernambuco, Brazil. It discusses the use of the Indirect Immunofluorescence technique for screening. The application of the Polymerase Chain Reaction is also discussed.
