The article presents on the examples from the expert's work several real cases of accidents that cause serious mechanical injuries, often with a fatal outcome. The circumstances of the accident at the foundry production plant when cleaning the blender are presented; accident resulting from an uncontrolled spill of melt and explosion, an accident on the oil tower platform and an accident that occurred during the operation of an agricultural machine. Data on mechanical injuries that are often the result of various accidents are given, which is the field of work of a court medical expert. The paper describes the methods used in determining the place of origin and cause of fire, such as inspection (review of the scene), reconstruction and expertise of the material. A real case of fire is presented, as recorded by an expert with suitable technical training, describing the use of the above methods in determining the cause of fire in a residential building, i.e. family house. In litigation to compensate the damage caused by the fire, the expert was tasked to determine the cause of the fire on the basis of the court documents. The expert was also provided with eyewitness material that was excluded from the court file. Based on the information in the file and the opinion on the excluded material, the expert submitted his findings and opinion in writing, which he defended in the court hearing. In order to supply new evidence, it was suggested that an inspection of the site and reconstruction be carried out. The reconstruction of the event showed that the fire could have occurred as a result of a fault in the electrical wiring, rather than due to a faulty replacement of the old electric meter with a new one. The paper presents actual real examples of the forensic investigations of fires on housing facilities conducted by the experts at the Forensic Science Centre Ivan Vučetić within the Croatian Ministry of the Interior. A description of the methods for determining the location and the causes of fire is offered, indicating the typical faults that may cause a fire. It was found that the most common cause of fire in housing facilities is either a fault on the connection between the building and the network or a fault on the electrical installations in the building itself. The paper focuses on a real accident and on the report as to the causes leading to the electric shock, drafted by an expert in electrical engineering. Described are the circumstances surrounding the accident and the methods of treatment of the materials found on the accident site. In addition, safety measures are outlined that need to be observed on sites where an accident involving electric shock can occur. The authors provide data on the impacts of electricity on human organism in the event of electric shock, which is the field of court medical experts. Even though electric shocks are not common causes of accidents and deaths, when they do happen they are investigated by electrical engineering experts and doctors or pathologists. An electrical engineering expert examines the accident scene, determines the circumstances of the accident, finds evidence and proceeds to identify the electrical installation or device malfunction that could have caused the electric shock. A medical doctor examines the person who has suffered an electric shock, drawing conclusions on the cause of injury based on body marks and additional examinations. In case of death, a pathologist gives his report on the cause of death based on the autopsy. This paper describes the methods used by electrical engineering experts to determine the technical functionality of electrical installations and equipment in order to find defects that could lead to electric shock. Several real-life examples from electrical experts' experience are presented in the paper describing defects caused by low voltage and high voltage electric shocks. The paper presents a real case of fire in a large shopping centre. Described is the manner of work of experts and the investigation team. Methods are listed for determining the place of fire origin and cause of fire, indicating the found defects which may have caused the fire. The building in question was equipped with fire protection systems, but their activation did not prove effective. The fire took place at night, after working hours, thus there was no need to evacuate shoppers and employees. In the fire the building suffered total damage, including damage to furniture, installations and merchandise. Through the conducted investigation of the fire location including an examination of the protection systems, and on the basis of other gathered information, it was found that the direct cause of fire was a defect on a light fixture installed in a metal rack with wooden shelves for storing textile goods. Congenital absence of both vas deferens accounts for ˜ 10% of cases of obstructive azoospermia. The purpose of the present study was to develop a treatment protocol for a group of azoospermic patients using surgical implantation of alloplastic spermatocoele to enable repeated sperm cell aspiration. Nine patients with congenital absence of both vas deferens, two with obstructed and one with destroyed vas, underwent surgery for the implantation of an alloplastic spermatocoele. In 10 of the 12 patients, vital spermatozoa were recovered from the aspirate and used for intrauterine insemination of their female partners with induced ovulation, some of whom then conceived.
