Algeria's tourism sector plays a critical role in its economy, especially as the country faces an economic crisis due to its reliance on fossil fuels. However, despite its potential, the tourism industry has remained limited to coastal and desert tourism in the north and south, respectively. Therefore, diversifying the tourism product by exploring inland regions is necessary to restore regional balance and create geographical homogeneity. Djelfa, a city located in the central highlands of the Atlas Mountains, offers unique natural resources and cultural heritage, making it an ideal destination for ecotourism. This study evaluates the potential of Djelfa for tourism planning purposes, using scientific documentation, field survey techniques, and analytical methods like SWOT analysis. In addition, a survey was conducted amongst tourists to collect their opinions on the city's attraction characteristics. The data was processed using principal component analysis (PCA) in SPSS software. The study emphasizes the importance of tourism planning in the area and proposes suitable tourism projects for ecotourism and investment in the Senelba forest site. These projects will positively influence the environment, local population, and lead to real development at the local and national levels while preserving the area's cultural and natural heritage.

Our study focuses on the planning and revitalization of mountainous rural tourism to generate income for many rural communities. It targets a community of Great Kabylie in the heart of Djurdjura massif in the eastern part of Tizi-Ouzou province in Algeria. Tourism in these mountainous areas could contribute to rural development, given that it covers 80% of the region and records 13913 tourist overnight stays. Rural tourism can be a valuable tool for local development in the Yakouren municipality. This paper is based on a literature review, field surveys, descriptive and analytical approach to revitalizing mountainous rural tourism in Yakouren, and revealing its potential through various methods, including Butler's theory, SWOT analysis, and elaboration of an indicator grid, and calculation of tourist traffic. From the results, we identified eight segments that attract tourists and five segments that villagers request. Finally, in a conceptual approach, we discuss the impact of this market on rural areas structure and propose some ideas to overcome it. As a result, through constant promotion, Yakouren can benefit from an increase in tourist traffic. Rural tourism in this mountainous community can be an essential source of income, but it requires investment.

Archaeological sites are currently considered as one of the most important tourism industry drivers, becoming an autonomous economy. Among the most outstanding archaeological sites in Algeria is the fort of Bani Hammad. This site is the first archaeological site classified by UNESCO in 1980, located in central Algeria in M'sila province. Given its importance, we conducted a scientific study to highlight its beautiful archaeological tourism components and national and international tourist attractions. Then, we revealed the tourism challenges and the physical and moral deterioration affecting this site. Also, we propose a preservation plan to promote this site’s touristic assets, enabling its transformation into a tourist destination competing with other archaeological sites in Algeria and the Maghreb; through a sustainable development plan of archaeological tourism, while preserving its historical identity and role. To this aim, we used a descriptive and quantitative analytical approach, starting with a theoretical and analytical analysis of various studies, plans, and documents related to this archaeological site's components. Then, we analyzed the geographical and statistical data of the tourist traffic over five years using the SPSS statistical program. Finally, we presented the results, developed a rehabilitation plan for the site, and suggested an essential set of recommendations.

The archaeological site of Timgad, located in the high plateaus East of Algeria, more precisely in the of Batna province, represents an outstanding universal value, it was classified in the world heritage of UNESCO in 1982, it attracts a significant number of tourists each year and represents an important economic resource. Timgad has benefited from legal and technical instruments of protection and valorization, but these instruments and means have not had the expected success. The objective of this study is to identify this heritage and the tourism reality in this site on the basis of the field study, which has determined the socio-economic characteristics of the visitors and their impressions on the archaeological site and assess the available opportunities. Because the preservation of Timgad which of Roman origin means the protection of heritage, history, art, archeology and science, these potentialities will make tourism an important resource for local and national development. In fact the diagnosis of the current situation confirms the absence of an adequate and coherent tourism planning which allowed us to propose a strategy that combines protection and valorization, while preserving the cultural heritage which is an asset for sustainable development. To accomplish this study, we begun with an analysis of documents and reports concerning the instruments of protection and valorization of archeological heritage. Followed by a field study in form of questionnaires, as well as statistical and geographical data analysis. We finished with a presentation of the results and their interpretation. We finally concluded with some recommendations.

The rugged mountains of the province of Batna suffer an isolation which explains the poverty of the population and the precariousness of their living conditions. If rural and urban spaces require scientific methods for their organization and their development, mountain areas also need planning and productive development through the integration of tourism in a context of economic benefit. To this aim, our topic emphasizes the enhancement of site rehabilitation by focusing on tourism demand, within the framework of a participative and decentralized approach allowing the various actors to be involved in the decision-making processes concerning tourism, enhancement and preservation of touristic potentialities and all the territorial values of this mountainous area. This article also concluded that the feasibility study represents a tool that plays an important role in the evaluation process and determines the effectiveness of an investment project in different areas: environmental, legislative, social and financial. In drafting such an important research towards the development of this region’s tourism industry, a descriptive approach was used to highlight the true image of the studied sites and the importance of their development in order to contain tourist activities connected to mountains. Followed by a conceptual approach to rehabilitate four sites and adapt them to geological, geomorphological and environmental tourism.

Geographical research has been concerned with tourism studies in terms of studying the characteristics of tourist groups: their satisfaction, attitudes and level of awareness. The use of the behavioral approach became preferred by planners to know the desires of tourists to reach a realistic tourism strategy based on the opinions of the tourists themselves. This research aims to study the characteristics of the tourism movement in the city of Algiers, in order to identify the impressions of tourists about the visit and the most prominent problems they face in the development of tourism in the study area. The topic of the research deals with tourism movements by following the descriptive and analytical approach. Accordingly, the study concluded that the most promising type of tourism in the region is ecological, cultural and recreational tourism, and the summer and spring seasons represent the preferred seasons at the level of tourist movement, while tourists are from the northern states. - The central region constitutes the largest proportion of the number of tourists coming to the region, as the group predominates over young women between (26 - 39) years old, the majority of the number of tourists, and cars are the most widely used means of transportation.
