India achieved the goal of a circular economy towards regenerative, value-creating development and growth for long-term prosperity. But at the same time, due to the recent unprecedented urbanization and industrialization, wastes and pollutants generated from these activities are enormous, which causes water, air and soil pollution. For example, brine sludge is one of the large quantities of waste from the chlor-alkali industry. This paper reviews different environmental impacts of waste minimization of brine sludge from the chlor-alkali industry with current treatment and utilization technologies. Various materials developed like paver blocks, bricks, non-toxic radiation shielding materials, cement-free materials, etc., using brine sludge as resource material, which can be helpful for broad application spectrum. Conventional softening, Ion exchange, and membrane technologies are available to remove solute from brine sludge. For the salt content in brine sludge, resins' uses are most economical and immensely practical. Due to high-quality recovery with power generation and environmentally friendly brine treatment, membrane-based technologies like membrane distillation, forward osmosis, and electrodialysis can be preferred. In the future perspective, recent membrane technologies like pressure-retarded osmosis and reverse electrodialysis are used to generate power from the salinity gradient between waste brine and freshwater. Background: Otitis media is infection of the middle ear cleft, which comprises acute and chronic otitis media and otitis media with effusion. Acute otitis media (AOM) is the second most prevalent pediatric emergency. Aims and Objectives: The aim of the study was to assess the epidemiology and clinical manifestations of AOM cases reported to the ENT OPD. Materials and Methods: A retrospective study was conducted in a tertiary care center of Assam from January 2021 to December 2022. A total of 840 patients from a wide range of socioeconomic strata were included in the study who belong to Upper Assam, parts of Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland region. Results: Majority (25.8%) of the patients were below the age of 10 years. The age group of 31–40 years (25.2%) was next in line. In the age range of 71–80 years, the least number of patients (0.3%) were observed. The majority (53.09%) of the patients were from Dibrugarh district of Assam. Conclusion: This study has brought to light the prevalence of AOM in this region and the need for the health department to raise public understanding of the significance of a healthy lifestyle in the prevention of AOM, early diagnosis, and treatment.

Millet products have garnered global recognition for their exceptional nutritional profile, appealing to various age demographics, and, therefore, fortifying such products with minerals can ensure nutritional security. This research explores the feasibility of utilizing millet as a substitute for refined wheat flour in biscuit production. Three distinct millet varieties were investigated: finger, pearl, and buckwheat. Employing response surface methodology (RSM), the optimal ratio of these flours was determined, resulting in a blend of 1.5:1:1, respectively. The optimized multi-millet biscuits were further enhanced with calcium fortification and subjected to comprehensive physico-chemical analysis. Proximate composition analysis revealed favorable levels of protein (5.472 ± 0.31%), ash (2.80 ± 0.57 g/100 g), and energy density (5.8015 ± 0.004 kcal/g), indicating a significantly higher protein content, enriched mineral profile, and high energy density as compared to refined wheat flour products. Sensory evaluation encompassing attributes such as color and texture and organoleptic assessment using a nine-point hedonic scale demonstrated favorable acceptance. Additionally, the overall acceptability of the biscuits remained consistently high throughout storage, ranging from 8.263 ± 0.65 (day 0) to 8.053 ± 0.85 (day 14). This study underscores the potential of multi-millet biscuits as a nutritious and palatable alternative to traditional wheat-based snacks, offering an avenue for diversifying dietary options and promoting healthier food choices.

Distress in Diabetes may affect the physical as well as emotional wellbeing of the patient. The current study is to examine the relationship of Distress in Diabetes and incidence of depression in middle age. A sample of 100 diagnosed Type 2 diabetes (Males= 50; Females =50) were administered Distress in Diabetes Self rating Scale and Patient Health Questionnaire-9. Regression analysis was carried out to find the relationship between the variables. Background: COVID-19 presented a unique scenario among children, specifically all over the world. The children had decrease outdoors activities and learning times, increased use of electronic gadgets and changes in sleep patterns. These altered behavior patterns of children directly influenced their behavior in the dental operatory. This coupled with the stringent protocols of COVID-19, made the behavior management of children a tedious task. However, as they say that necessity is the mother of all inventions, the pediatric dentist took this time to evaluate newer methods of behavior management and modified old strategies with newer modifications. Aim: The main aim of this study was to observe the modifications in behavior management strategies among pediatric dentists in the post-COVID-19 era while managing the child in dental operatory. Materials and Methods: Four hundred pediatric dentists were mailed a questionnaire consisting of 24 open and closed-ended questions consisting of personal data, professional information, and questions regarding various behavior management techniques used by them in pre- and post-COVID-19 era. Data obtained were subjected to statistical analysis using SPSS version 26.0, IBM, and a comparison of frequencies of categories of variables with groups was made using Chi-Square test and McNemar test. Results: The results showed that there were statistically highly significant changes in behavior management strategies pre- and post-COVID-19 scenario with P < 0.01. Conclusion: Conventional techniques like Tell-Show-Do were popular in both pre- and post-COVID-19 times with minor modifications in approach, but conscious sedation and distraction techniques were evaluated to have gained more popularity in the post-COVID-19 times along with exploration of new novel techniques.

Resumen: Objetivo: Evaluar si el vendaje de 2 capas es más efectivo que el vendaje de crepé en la cicatrización de úlceras venosas tras 12 semanas de seguimiento. Diseño: Ensayo clínico aleatorizado multicéntrico. Emplazamiento: 22 Centros de Salud de Madrid. Participantes: Mayores de 18 años, con diagnóstico de úlceras venosas. Se aleatorizaron 93 pacientes, 56 en el grupo de doble capa y 37 en crepé. Retiradas: 16 en el grupo de doble capa y 7 en el de crepé. Intervenciones: Grupo control: práctica clínica habitual: tratamiento de la herida y vendaje con crepé. Grupo experimental: misma práctica habitual para tratamiento de la herida y vendaje con doble capa. Mediciones principales: Variable respuesta principal: cicatrización completa a las 12 semanas. Variables secundarias: severidad de las lesiones, calidad de vida, reacciones adversas. Evaluación ciega de la variable respuesta. Resultados: Cicatrización completa: 25 (67%) en el grupo crepé (IC al 95% 50,2-81,9) y 32 (57,1%) en doble capa (IC al 95% 43,2-70,3). Sin diferencias en ambos grupos, RR = 1,10 (IC al 95% 0,864-1,424).La severidad de las úlceras basales se asocia al tiempo de cicatrización, HR = 0,86 (IC al 95% 0,78-0,94).Se objetiva mejora significativa en la calidad de vida total y en las dimensiones cosmesis y estado emocional. No se encuentran diferencias según el vendaje utilizado.Sin reacciones adversas graves en ninguno de los grupos. Conclusiones: No encontramos diferencias significativas en la cicatrización entre los 2 tipos de vendaje. Ambos son apropiados para la cicatrización de las úlceras y para mejorar la calidad de vida. Abstract: Objective: To evaluate if the two-layer bandage is more effective than the crepe bandage in the healing of venous ulcers after 12 weeks of follow-up. Design: Randomized multicentre controlled clinical trial. Location: 22 Primary Health Centers of Madrid. Participants: Over 18 years old, with diagnosis of venous ulcers. 93 patients were randomized, 56 in the double layer group and 37 in the crepe group. Withdrawals: 16 in double layer group, 7 in crepe group. Interventions: Control group: usual clinical practice: treatment of the wound and bandage with crepe. Experimental group: same usual clinical practice for wound treatment and bandage with double layer. Main measurements: Primary outcome: complete healing at 12 weeks. Secondary outcomes: severity of ulceration, health-related quality of life, adverse events. Blind evaluation of the response variable. Results: Complete healing: in crepe group, 25, 67.5% (95% CI 50.2-81.9) and in double layer group, 32, 57.1% (95% CI 43.2-70.3). No evidence of a difference in both groups, RR = 1.10 (95% CI 0.864-1.424).The basal severity of the ulcers is associated with the healing time. HR = 0.86 (95% CI 0.78-0.94).Our data showed a significant improvement in health-related quality of life, total and in the of cosmesis and emotional dimensions. No evidence of a difference in both groups.We didn’t find serious adverse events in any of the groups. Conclusions: We didn’t find significant differences in the healing between the two bandages evaluated. Both are appropriate for ulcer healing and to improve the health-related quality of life.

Sanitation facilities are one of the major aspects of an urban area which has paramount importance on the quality of life and environment. The city of Khulna, 3rd largest city of Bangladesh, contains 8.14% slum of total area where poor sanitation facilities exist. Different Government and NGOs provide sanitary latrines in the slums of Khulna city under different sanitation project which hardly meets the demands and expectations of slum people. The present study attempts to assess the urban sanitation service quality of Railway slum of Khulna city based on Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) where the gap between perception and expectation of the inhabitant of railway slum are evaluated. A combined methodology of SERVQUAL model and Analytical Hierarchy Process is applied in this study for evaluating the gap in term of tangibility, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy to assess sanitation services in railway slum of Khulna city. The result of CSI indicates that the sanitation service meets moderate satisfaction (58.5%) level of public expectation in railway slum of Khulna city. This combined methodology provides a perspicuous idea of sanitation service quality in a simpler way without any quantitative data requirement which will be helpful in appropriate municipal service planning and management. GnRH analogues are the standard therapy but expensive therapy for the suppression of pubertal changes in transsexual individuals. In the 1960s, medroxyprogesterone acetate was found to be efficacious in treating central precocious puberty by inhibiting the secretion of gonadotropins and/or interfering with gonadal steroid synthesis. To avoid the adverse effects and prohibitive cost of gonadotropin releasing hormone analogues, this study utilized medroxyprogesterone as an alternative treatment for puberty sex hormone suppression. The goal of this retrospective chart review is to determine the efficacy and safety of medroxyprogesterone. Sixteen subjects with Gender Identity Disorder less than 19 years were offered medroxyprogesterone to suppress puberty sex steroids. Seven male-to-female individuals were treated with the oral form of medroxyprogesterone. Six female-to-male individuals used depot medroxyprogesterone acetate; one used oral; and two refused. One decided to change back to being female. None of the patients discontinued therapy because of unwanted side-effects. In conclusion, medroxyprogesterone is an effective, safe, and affordable option for the suppression of pubertal hormones in teens desiring gender change. The body image is closely related to what we feel about our body. The present study was conducted to find out the relationship between body esteem, attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance in young adults. A sample of 60 subjects (30 males and 30 females) between 22 to 30 years of age was selected using purposive sampling. The subjects were given ECR-R (Fraley, et.al. 2000) to obtain attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance scores and BES (Franzoi and, Herzog, 1986) to obtain the body esteem score. The results indicated that body esteem has an inverse relationship with attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance and did not show significant gender differences among the scores. Background: Musculoskeletal pain (MSP) is a well-known burden of disease and disability in all age groups and both sexes. There are very few reports regarding MSP in rural homemakers of North India. Objective: To assess the magnitude of MSP among rural homemakers and to identify its modifiable risk factors. Materials and Methods: A representative sample of 296 homemakers from rural areas of Barabanki district in Uttar Pradesh was studied. Details of MSP and its location; social, demographic information, height, and weight were recorded. A general clinical examination of each subject was also done to rule out any obvious underlying organic pathology and the findings were noted. Results: Prevalence of MSP among homemakers was found to be 40.9%. More than 60% of these could not be diagnosed without specialized investigations. Modifiable risk factors were identified. Conclusions: Parity, body mass index, use of nonsmoking tobacco, and per capita income were identified as modifiable risk factors in this population.

The xerothermic oak forests with Quercus frainetto and Q. cerris on the estern slope of Mt. Galičica in Macedonia were investigated in connection with the Yugoslavian contribution to the International Programme "MAB". Twenty field records were interpreted from the phytosociological and the phytogeographical points of view. -the forests under discussion represent the regional association Quercetum frainetto-cerris macedonicum Oberd. 1948 emend. Horvat 1959. which belongs to the Quercion frainetto-cerris alliance. The considerable share of Balkan and Submediterranean species in their composition is particularly significant.

Turfgrasses established on a soil deprived of the topsoil during construction disturbance often have low levels of density and uniformity making them susceptible to weeds. Field experiments evaluated composted poultry litter incorporation into subsoil on Kentucky bluegrass growth attributes and subsequent effects on weed populations. Top 20 cm of topsoil was removed and composted poultry litter was incorporated at 0.1, or 0.2, or 0.4 cm/cm-soil into the exposed subsoil to a depth of 12.7 cm before seeding or sodding, and was compared to N-fertilized (50 × 10−4 kg m−2) and control plots. A greenhouse experiment was also conducted to determine the effect of compost incorporation rates on turfgrass rooting depth. Turfgrass yield from seeded plots with compost incorporation rates of 0.1, 0.2, and 0.4 cm/cm-soil, were 200%, 300%, and 500% more, respectively, compared to control plots. Composted poultry litter incorporated at 0.1 cm/cm-soil resulted in at least 70 seedlings in 7.6 cm−2, which was sufficient to attain 100% turf cover. Higher incorporation rates in seeded plots maintained lower numbers of buckhorn plantain and red clover than untreated plots. Rooting depth also increased linearly with compost rates. Overall, compost treatments were able to maintain superior turf cover and quality compared to conventionally fertilized or control plots.

During construction disturbance, topsoil is often removed and turfgrasses are established in poor soils. Our study determined the effects of amending subsoil with composted poultry litter on physical and chemical properties that affect turfgrass growth attributes. To simulate typical disturbance conditions, 20 cm of topsoil was removed from a Dormont silt loam (fine-loamy, mixed, superactive, mesic Oxyaquic Hapludalfs) and composted poultry litter was incorporated at 0.1, or 0.2, or 0.4 cm/cm-soil into the exposed subsoil to a depth of 12.7 cm before growing turf. Composted plots were compared to N-fertilized (50 × 10−4 kg m−2) and control plots. Linear increases in total water content, organic matter, pH, and basic cations were observed following compost incorporation. Composted poultry litter increased total water content by 38% and decreased soil bulk density by 42%. Compost applications increased organic matter by 5.8%–6.4%, along with an increase in pH from 6.0–7.4. The cation exchange capacity increased up to 186% in compost-incorporated plots. No differences were observed between fertilized and control plots for all soil properties except for P levels, which increased in fertilized plots. Overall, compost treatments improved soil physical and chemical properties compared to conventionally fertilized and control plots.

Introduction: Immediate proper care of newborn is vitally important for survival, growth and development of a baby. In the home, a number of simple strategies have been shown to prevent infant and childhood illness and malnutrition, including breastfeeding, appropriate complementary feeding practices and seeking a complete course of vaccines for infants in their first year of life. The present study has been undertaken to assess the effect of newborn care, infant feeding practices and immunization status on nutritional status of infants in Jasra Block of Allahabad district. Method: A cohort study conducted in a community among newborns born during the period of November 2011 to April 2012. IEC (Information, Education and Counselling) was given to their mothers from last three months of pregnancy till the newborns completed one year of age. The effect of newborn care, infant feeding practices and immunization status was assessed in terms of anthropometric measurements. Results: More than half of the infants i.e. 47 (60.26 %) gained weight to reach within the normal range and weight of 33 (42.31%) infants was below 2 standard deviation. Conclusion: Newborn care, infant feeding practices, immunization status and lesser episodes of illnesses have a positive effect on nutritional status of infants in terms of weight and length.

Il illustre la richesse historique, religieuse, architecturale et urbanistique du Ksar Ké nadssa et les différents enjeux de sa mise en valeur. Il dresse un bilan de dégradation physique et de dévalorisation fonctionnelle et socio- économique de cette entité urbaine et son habitat historique. In fine, il expose une action de réhabilitation, que nous avons entrepris, en essaya nt ainsi de dessiner les contours d’une stratégie intégrée de réhabilitation et de mise en valeur (Ouageni.
