Perm Krai and the socio-political processes taking place in it are in many ways typical of Russia, and therefore of interest to a wide audience of researchers and political analysts. Based on the theoretical constructions of international elites studies and the Perm School of Political Science and elitology, we study the political and business elites of the region, their political behavior, aspects of identity, as well as the most politically sensitive topics in the life of the region. Relying primarily on the literature analysis and subsequent own semi-standardized in-depth interviews (N10) with representatives of regional elites - the following results were obtained. The identity of the elites and everymen in Perm region is somewhat vague, associated with the neutral notion of geographical region of the Kama region. Liberalism in the economic sphere and a relatively stable inter-elite consensus in the political sphere, based on technocracy, are characteristic of the region’s policy for some decades. The region is characterized by a low socio-political dynamics compared to the benchmark regions of the Urals and Siberia, due to lack of regionally oriented elites and businesses and the predominance of various kinds of “Varangians” in the political class. The socio-political and cultural landscape of the region (the Perm Cultural Project) becomes a starting place and a source of supplies for the elites, receiving back very little. Thus, the region remains a promising project that cannot be realized in any way.

The article analyzes modern methods of personnel health management and provides examples of the implementation of the most interesting methods in foreign and Russian companies. The rationale is presented that the launching of healthcare management system can contribute to the improvement of competitiveness and growth of employee productivity, strengthening of corporate spirit, as well as creates a positive image and reputation of the company. The authors analyze the dynamics of the VHI market as one of the most demanded practices on care for the health of employees in Russia. The calculations are made on the dynamics of concluding VHI contracts with individuals and legal entities. The authors determine the dynamics of the average premium on VHI with legal entities for the last three years and the rates of increase of the volume of contracts from 2015 to 2019. Also the rolling factor of insurance payments is calculated. The forecast of the volume of VHI contracts with individuals for 2020–2022 is made. Also examples of the application of international medical voluntary insurance policies (MMS) in the performance of offi duties in dangerous working conditions, which can lead to the emergence of professional or serious diseases, are provided. The data on medical start-ups, which are able to positively aff the care of companies about the health of employees, are summarized. The authors provide data on practices on employee health care in domestic companies Lukoil, Rostelecom, Sberbank, Seventh Continent, etc., as well as data on cost savings of companies in the implementation of the system of employee health management. Some recommendations on the application of methods of managing the health of employees in domestic companies are presented.

The article deals with the relationship between Azerbaijan and Russia in the energy sector. Implemented projects are analyzed on the basis of the political and legal framework. At the same time, problems are assessed and forecasts are given for the development of bilateral relations. It is noted that the export of oil and gas raw materials and products of its processing have a positive effect on filling the budget of countries and on the implementation of socio-economic tasks. Purpose: To explore the main directions of bilateral Azerbaijani-Russian relations in the energy sector. Methodology: The methods of modern scientific analysis (the method of objectivity and systemicity), the comparative method, and the historical method were used in the article. Scientific novelty: For the first time, Azerbaijani-Russian relations in the energy sector from the period of independence to the present period were studied in a comprehensive manner. On the basis of the examination of Russian foreign direct investments (FDI) in Balkan countries, the paper investigates the distinctive features, expectations, and realities of Russian capital in the region. Grounding on the case of the leading Russian multinational enterprise (MNE) (Lukoil) investment activity in the Balkans, the study explains the track record of Russian investments in Balkans and discusses the key lessons learned by Russian managers and policy makers in the host countries. The paper facilitates the comparative interregional understanding of Russian FDI and generates practical implications for investments in Balkans. Our paper provides an insight into the universe of Russian multinationals and their influence upon the Romanian economy. Even if statistical data on foreign direct investment stock by country of origin do not prove the existence of Russian capital in Romania, it is a fact that the high values of foreign direct investment stock from the Netherlands, Austria, Germany or Switzerland are largely due to the investment projects undertaken in Romania by Russian multinationals. Despite the lack of relevant statistical data, we can say that the impact of Russian MNC’s on the Romanian economy is huge. Among positive influences we can mention: global employment opportunities for highly qualified workforce in the region; the transfer of advanced technologies to Romanian enterprises and the local markets; the awareness of business partners and public opinion on social responsibility; the insert of higher performance standards, competitiveness and managerial ethics.

Russia is the world's largest producer and exporter of energy and the United States is the world's largest consumer and importer of energy. As such, there are many reasons to seek better and more numerous associations at all levels. The Russian energy sector is relatively new, as are all economic sectors, having formed only after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. Reform in the energy sector is moving rapidly now that political and economic stability have been achieved. The split between the state and private company control of the sector will probably develop with changes in energy economics just as it does in other producing countries. It is likely the beneficiaries of Russia's vast reserves of oil and gas will be those countries who choose to include Russia among their strategic partners. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

If serious problems of business ethics plague and continue to plague the way business is conducted within Russia, the internationalization of Russian companies puts forward the problem of what business culture they bring along and what impact it may have on the recipient country. This article focuses on the case of Lukoil investments and operations in Bulgaria. It describes the main factors forming the contemporary Russian business culture and highlights the negative features that could be feared from point of view of the country receiving Russian investments. Later the paper tries to analyze the operations of Lukoil in Bulgaria and investigate if there is reason to suspect a negative business culture spill over. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

The article describes the expansion of the Russian direct investments in Poland, especially in the oil sector, illustrated with an example of Lukoil. Apart from the capital transfer, the company contributed to long-term sustainable economic development by implementing environmentally friendly production technologies. However, corruption and political involvement related to the expansion of the Russian investments in the strategic assets had negative impact on the perception of Russian investments in Poland.
