Multiple stepwise regression and Interaction analysis explore the impact of the bully victimization on college students’ suicidal tendencies and the moderating role of family support and teacher emotional support in the relationship between the bully victim and college students’ suicidal tendencies.Results: This study found that the Suicidal Tendencies score of college students was 19.79 points, indicating that some college students have a risk of suicidal tendencies; secondly, verbal bullying (β = 0.084, P < 0.001), physical bullying (β = 0.222, P < 0.001) and social relationship bullying (β = 0.122, P < 0.001) have a positive and significant impact on the suicidal tendencies of college students; in addition, family support and teacher emotional support have a significant regulatory effect on the bully victim and college students Suicidal Tendencies and family support. The regulating effect was significantly higher than that of teacher emotional support.Conclusion: Chinese college students have the risk of suicidal tendencies; peer bullying victimization is an important reason for affecting college students’ suicidal tendencies, teacher emotional support is a protective factor for bully victims to affect college students’ suicidal tendencies, and family support has a significant moderating effect on the bully victim and college students’ suicidal tendencies. Structural equation modeling and statistical analysis were conducted using LISREL 8.8 and Mplus 8.3 software.Results: The average score for media exposure among Chinese middle-aged and older adults was (18.55± 5.36), perceived social support was (60.68± 12.51), self-efficacy was (28.76± 5.40), and health literacy was (35.49± 6.05). Statistical results revealed that media exposure has a positive impact on the health literacy of middle-aged and older adults, with a direct effect of 0.091 (p < 0.001). Mediation analysis showed that media exposure can affect the health literacy of this population through the independent mediating effects of perceived social support (β = 0.013, p < 0.001) and self-efficacy (β = 0.029, p < 0.001), as well as through a chain mediation effect involving perceived social support and self-efficacy (β = 0.015, p < 0.001).Conclusion: As a pathway for health information dissemination, media exposure plays a crucial role in the intervention of health literacy among middle-aged and older adults. Perceived social support and self-efficacy not only have independent mediating effects but also significant chain mediating effects in the relationship between media exposure and health literacy among this population. Therefore, improving the health literacy of middle-aged and older people can be popularized through media and improved in a multi-path, all-round, and precise way with the help of related technologies and social forces from which media literacy can be improved.Keywords: middle-aged and elderly people, media contact, social support, self-efficacy, health literacy

This paper aimed to explore the potential relationship between teacher discrimination behavior, peer bullying victimization, anxiety disorders, and adolescent suicidal ideation based on the Vulnerability-Stress Model.Methods: From September to November 2022, our research team surveyed 21,017 junior high school students from 12 secondary schools in ten cities in China. Mplus 8.3 software was used to analyze the pathways of teacher discrimination behavior on adolescent suicidal ideation.Results: The results showed that teacher preference had a significant negative effect on suicidal ideation, and teacher prejudice significantly positively affected suicidal ideation. Mediation test results indicated that there were significant independent mediating effects of peer bullying victimization and anxiety disorders between teacher discrimination behavior and adolescents’ suicidal ideation, as well as significant chain mediating effects.&#x00A0Conclusion: Secondary school teachers should improve their self-quality and pay more attention to adolescents’ suicidal ideation. Teachers are expected to put love into their education, respect and trust each student, and attend to their emotional needs unbiasedly. Few studies elucidated the role of GNG11 in human disease, especially in tumors. The present study initially analyzed the function of GNG11 in ovarian serous cystadenocarcinoma.Methods: The differential expression of GNG11 mRNA in ovarian cancer and normal tissues was evaluated through Oncomine, CCLE, Gepia, UCSC Xena and UALCAN databases. The protein expression of GNG11 was assessed via HPA database. Prognosis analysis was performed by Kaplan–Meier Plotter. Restrict survival analysis to subtypes including tumor grade, cancer stage and TP53 mutation status was then carried out. GSEA enrichment analysis was performed to explore the significant pathways associated with GNG11 in ovarian cancer. Finally, the upstream miRNAs of GNG11 were predicted by DIANA, Target Scan, miRDB and miRWalk databases, and the potential key KEGG pathways were subsequently determined by DIANA.Results: The mRNA expression of GNG11 was down-regulated in ovarian cancer patients (P< 0.05). The cancer stage of patients correlated with the expression of GNG11 (P< 0.05). Survival analysis indicated that GNG11 high expression statistically shortened the overall survival time of patients (HR=1.26, P=0.0043) compared with low expression group, especially for the patients with earlier stage (HR=2.48, P=0.035) and lower grade (HR=1.72, P=0.0016). Subsequently, the consistent upstream miRNA of GNG11, hsa-miR-22-5p, was predicted from 4 databases. The differential expression profile of hsa-miR-22-5p in blood was observed in ovarian cancer patients. According to the GSEA analysis on GNG11 and KEGG analysis on hsa-miR-22-5p, the consistent pathway of ECM-receptor interaction was observed (all P< 0.01). ECM-receptor interaction pathway and differential expression of hsa-miR-22-5p in blood suggested the migration risk of ovarian cancer.Conclusion: High expression of GNG11 indicated the poor prognosis of ovarian cancer patients. Purpose: Cyclin D1 has been identified as a proto-oncogene associated with the uncontrolled proliferation of tumor cells. This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to estimate the prognostic significance of cyclin D1 in multiple myeloma (MM) patients. Method: We searched for qualified data in PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science up to February 2020. Data quality was assessed by the Newcastle-Ottawa scale (NOS). Hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) were used to evaluate the relationship between cyclin D1 expression and overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS)/event-free survival (EFS) in patients with MM. Result: A total of 13 studies involving 961 patients were included. Overall, pooled analysis revealed significant heterogeneity between cyclin D1 expression and the prognosis of MM (OS, HR = 1.08, 95% CI: 0.71-1.64, I 2 = 67.9%; PFS/EFS, HR = 0.97, 95% CI: 0.49-1.93, I 2 = 85.8%). Subgroup analysis revealed that the prolongation of OS was relevant to increased expression of cyclin D1 in MM patients in the relapsed and refractory group (OS, HR = 0.46, 95% CI: 0.24-0.90). Another subgroup assessment of OS established that MM patients with CCND1 overexpression in the bortezomib group had longer survival time (HR = 0.30, 95% CI: 0.11-0.82), whereas, those overexpressing CCND1 in the conventional chemotherapy group had poor prognosis (HR = 2.19, 95% CI: 1.18-4.08). We also found that increased cyclin D1 expression correlated favorably with PFS in the autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) (HR = 0.45, 95% CI: 0.28-0.73) or reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) group (HR = 0.41, 95% CI: 0.26-0.64). Conclusion: The result of this meta-analysis suggested that CCND1 overexpression might be a predictive biomarker for MM patients when treated with bortezomib, receiving ASCT, or in relapsed and refractory period.

Background: Penicillin allergy labels have gained increasing global attention. However, to date, there are no data on the influence of penicillin allergy labels on patients in Chinese mainland. Methods: This retrospective study reviewed the electronic health record (EHR) of hospitalized patients between June 1, 2018 and May 31, 2019. Patients with a penicillin allergy record were included in the allergy group. Every allergy patient was matched with 4 control patients by using propensity score-based matching to make sure the following were balanced: age, sex, date of admission, and the main diagnosis. We estimated the prevalence of penicillin allergy labels and compared the antibiotic prescription patterns and other clinical outcomes between the 2 groups. Results: A total of 5691 patients and 22 585 patients were included in the allergy group and control group, respectively. The prevalence of penicillin allergy labels among the hospitalized patients in this study was 4.00%. Compared to the control group, significantly fewer patients in the allergy group were prescribed penicillins and most cephalosporins, while a larger proportion of allergy patients received clindamycin (10.02% vs 5.41%, p

Objective: It was initially reported that a novel coronavirus (COVID-19) had been identified in Wuhan, China, in December 2019.To date, COVID-19 is still threatening all humanity and has affected the public healthcare system and the world economic situation. Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) has also been demonstrated that associated with severity of COVID-19, but little is known about systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) relation with COVID-19. Methods: One hundred and twenty-five patients with diagnosed COVID-19 including non-severe cases (n = 77) and severe cases (n = 48) were enrolled in this study. Each patient of clinical characteristic information, blood routine parameters, and the haemogram-derived ratios were collected, calculated, and retrospectively analyzed. Receiver operating characteristics (ROC) was performed to investigate whether these parameters could be used to the predictive value of patients with severe COVID-19. Background: Osteoarthritis is a degenerative disease that commonly occurs in middle-aged and elderly people. High-quality articles in the field of osteoarthritis rehabilitation have not been studied in detail. Objective: To identify and conduct a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the 50 most-cited articles on osteoarthritis rehabilitation and provide valuable scientific information for researchers. Methods: Fifty articles related to the rehabilitation of individuals with osteoarthritis were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection. Basic information, such as the authors, title, number of citations, year of publication, journal, country/territory, and research type, was extracted. CiteSpace was used to visualize the keywords. Results: The average number of citations per article was 244.54. The top 50 articles were published in 27 journals and published by 262 authors. Most of the top 50 articles were published in the United States. The top 50 articles included 23 randomized controlled trials, 21 cohort studies, 2 case series, and 4 expert opinion articles. The most commonly studied topics in osteoarthritis rehabilitation included rehabilitation for pain, gait abnormalities, muscle strength deficiencies, and other functional impairments caused by osteoarthritis in elderly people. Conclusions: The top articles in the field of osteoarthritis rehabilitation have a high level of evidence. Collaboration between authors was high for highly-cited articles. Moreover, the eminent articles can provide important information for the education of doctors and therapists specializing in osteoarthritis rehabilitation.

Background: PTPRG antisense RNA 1 has been well-documented to exert an oncogenic role in diverse neoplasms. However, the precise role of PTPRG antisense RNA 1 in regulating radiosensitivity of nonsmall cell lung cancer cells remains largely elusive. Methods: Expression levels of PTPRG antisense RNA 1 and miR-200c-3p in nonsmall cell lung cancer tissues and cells were detected by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction, while transcription factor 4 expression was examined by immunohistochemistry and Western blot. After nonsmall cell lung cancer cells were exposed to X-ray with different doses in vitro , Cell Counting Kit - 8 assay and colony formation assay were conducted to determine the influence of PTPRG antisense RNA 1 on cell viability. Interaction between miR-200c-3p and PTPRG antisense RNA 1 as well as transcription factor 4 was investigated by dual luciferase reporter assay. Result: In nonsmall cell lung cancer tissues, the expressions of PTPRG antisense RNA 1 and transcription factor 4 were significantly upregulated, whereas the expression of miR-200c-3p was downregulated. It was also proved that PTPRG antisense RNA 1 and 3′-untranslated region of transcription factor 4 can bind to miR-200c-3p. Under X-ray irradiation, overexpressed PTPRG antisense RNA 1 could promote the viability and enhance the radioresistance of nonsmall cell lung cancer cells, and this effect was partially weakened by miR-200c-3p mimics. Transcription factor 4 was identified as a target gene of miR-200c-3p, which could be positively regulated by PTPRG antisense RNA 1. Conclusion: PTPRG antisense RNA 1 reduces the radiosensitivity of nonsmall cell lung cancer cells via modulating miR-200c-3p/TCF4 axis.

Objective: To explore the effect and the related mechanism of STAT3 inhibitor AG-490 on inhibiting the proliferation of prostate cancer cells. Methods: PC3 cells and DU145 cells were cultured stably and treated with AG-490 to detect the changes in the activity of PC3 cells and DU145 cells. Thirty 6-8 weeks male BALB/c nude mouse were randomly divided into a control group, a DMSO group, and an AG-490 group to detect differences in various indexes . Results: The overexpression of miR-503-5p depends on the activation of STAT3. After treatment with AG-490, The proliferation and invasion of PC3 cells and DU145 cells and the expression of miR-503-5p were all reduced. Luciferase reporter assay demonstrated that the target proteins of miR-503-5p include PDCD4, TIMP-3, and PTEN. After treatment with AG-490, the expression of PDCD4, TIMP-3, and PTEN in cells was significantly up-regulated. IL-6-induced overexpression of miR-503-5p and restored the expression of STAT3, demonstrating the correlation between STAT3 and miR-503-5p. AG-490 can inhibit tumor growth and induce tumor cell apoptosis in the PC3 BALB/c nude mouse xenograft model. Western blotting and immunohistochemical staining showed that the expression levels of STAT3, Ki67, Bcl-2 and MMP-2 in the AG-490 group were significantly reduced, and the expression of PDCD4, TIMP-3 and PTEN increased. Conclusion: AG-490 can inhibit the growth of prostate cancer cells in a miR-503-5p-dependent manner by targeting STAT3. AG-490 is expected to become a new candidate drug for the treatment of prostate cancer.

Objective: Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) represents a hematological cancer. The aim of the investigation was to probe the regulatory relevance of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) aspartyl-tRNA synthetase anti-sense 1 (DARS-AS1)/microRNA-425 (miR-425)/transforming growth factor-beta 1 (TGFB1) to the development of AML. Methods: The DARS-AS1 expression in bone marrow tissues was first analyzed in healthy subjects and AML patients. Subsequently, AML cell lines with DARS-AS1 knockdown were constructed, followed by cell proliferation and apoptosis assays. Afterward, downstream miRNA of DARS-AS1 and target mRNA of the miRNA were analyzed by bioinformatics, and their binding relationships were verified. Functional rescue experiments were then implemented. Finally, activation of the Smad2/3 signaling in MV4-11 and BF-24 cells were detected by western blot. Results: DARS-AS1 was overexpressed in bone marrow tissues of AML patients and cells, and DARS-AS1 knockdown suppressed the proliferation of AML cells and induced apoptosis. DARS-AS1 bound to and negatively correlated with miR-425. Further results suggested that TGFB1 might be a target gene of miR-425 and could promote Smad2/3 phosphorylation and nuclear translocation. Finally, DARS-AS1 depletion could diminish the tumor volume in vivo . Conclusion: All in all, we highlighted here that DARS-AS1 enhanced the expression of TGFB1 through binding to miR-425 to modulate AML progression via the Smad2/3 pathway, which might perform as a therapeutic target for AML.

The aberrant expression of microRNA is an important regulator in the tumorigenesis of non-small cell lung cancer. In this study, we found that miR-499a-5p was notably downregulated in non-small cell lung cancer tissues and cell lines. Decreased miR-499a-5p expression was associated with larger tumor size and higher TNM stage. Non-small cell lung cancer patients with low expression of miR-499a-5p exhibited a worse overall survival rate compared with those patients with high expression of miR-499a-5p. Ectopic expression of miR-499a-5p significantly suppressed non-small cell lung cancer cell proliferation and colony formation, and hampered cell cycle at G0/G1 phase in vitro . Conversely, knockdown of miR-499a-5p promoted non-small cell lung cancer cell proliferation and colony formation, and induced cell cycle at S phase. Furthermore, in vivo experiments revealed that overexpression of miR-499a-5p inhibited the tumor formation in a nude mouse xenograft model. Mechanistic studies showed that fibroblast growth factor 9 was a direct target gene of miR-499a-5p. miR-499a-5p directly bound to fibroblast growth factor 9 mRNA 3’-UTR, therefore led to the reduction in fibroblast growth factor 9 protein expression. Finally, rescue experiments confirmed that silencing of fibroblast growth factor 9 partially reversed the phenotypes of miR-499a-5p knockdown on non-small cell lung cancer cell proliferation. In conclusion, our study demonstrates that downregulation of miR-499a-5p predicts a worse prognosis of patients with non-small cell lung cancer and restrains the tumorigenesis by targeting fibroblast growth factor 9. These findings may provide valuable clues for the future development of therapeutic strategies against this cancer.

A 13-year-old female patient presented with chest pain had no history of heart disease or trauma. She was finally diagnosed with the interrupted aortic arch by 320-slice CT angiography, without intracardial malformations or patent ductus arteriosus. Her descending aortic blood was supplied by plentiful collateral circulation on the chest. According to literature reports, patients with complete interruption of the aortic arch rarely live 10 years without surgical intervention. Background:. We aimed to summarize the distribution of pathogenic bacteria for postoperative infection of different genitourinary plastic surgery and the antimicrobial resistance of the major pathogens. Methods:. Between January 2011 and December 2021, following plastic surgery of the urogenital system, microbial strains from infected patients were collected, identified, and counted. The antibiotic sensitivity and distribution characteristics of common pathogens in relation with the surgical procedures were studied by WHONET 5.6, along with the main bacteria accounting for early infection. Results:. A total of 76 cases were included in the study. Among these, 53 Gram-negative bacteria were detected, with Escherichia coli (18 of 53) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (nine of 53) accounting for the majority. There were also 23 Gram-positive bacteria, among which Staphylococcus aureus (six of 23) and Coagulase-negative Staphylococcus (five of 23) were the most common. In terms of antimicrobial resistance, E. coli was highly sensitive to amikacin, piperacillin/tazobactam, cefoxitin, and imipenem, whereas P. aeruginosa was highly sensitive to gentamicin, amikacin, cefepime, piperacillin/tazobactam, imipenem, ceftazidime, and ciprofloxacin. Procedures for urethral repair, urethral reconstruction, and lump resection were most commonly associated with infection. Among these, urethral repair was responsible for the majority of infections. The pathogenic bacteria involved in postoperative infections varied overall, but the most prevalent was E. coli. Conclusions:. Gram-negative bacteria are the major cause of infection following genitourinary plastic surgery. The specific bacterial strains, degrees of antimicrobial resistance, and length of infection varied among the various procedures. The results of this study may provide references for clinical medication and the prevention and control of such infections.

Introduction: A strong association was previously established between body mass index (BMI) and female reproductive system tumors; however, the causal relationship is unclear. We conducted a Mendelian randomization (MR) study to further explore this association. Methods: Genetic information for BMI was retrieved from a published genome-wide association study involving 339,224 participants. Genetic associations with five common female reproductive system tumors were obtained from the FinnGen, UK Biobank studies, and other large consortia. Results: Genetic predisposition towards BMI exhibits a significant association with multiple tumors of the female reproductive system. Specifically, for every 1-unit increase in BMI log-transformed odds ratio (OR). This study explored 1-year follow-up of Parmaco-invasive strategy with half-dose recombinant human prourokinase (PHDP) in patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). The follow-up endpoints were major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) occurring within 30 days and 1 year, as well as postoperative bleeding events. The study ultimately included 150 subjects, with 75 in the primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI) group and 75 in the PHDP group. This study found that the PHDP group had a shorter FMC-reperfusion time (42.00 min vs 96.00 min, P 0.05). The PHDP facilitates early treatment of infarct-related vessels, shortens FMC-reperfusion time, and does not increase the risk of MACEs.

Objective: The influence of maternal smoking around birth (MSAB) on offspring allergic diseases, specifically childhood asthma (CA), allergic rhinitis (AR), allergic conjunctivitis (AC), and atopic dermatitis (AD) remains incompletely understood. We performed a rigorous mendelian randomization (MR) study to obtain the unconfounded association between MSAB and allergic diseases in offspring with and without adjustment for the effect of breastfeeding. Methods: Utilizing publicly available information of MSAB, breastfeeding, CA, AR, AC, and AD from large-scale genome-wide association studies (GWAS), we performed a two-sample mendelian randomization (TSMR) analysis to assess the respective causal relationship of MSAB and breastfeeding to allergic diseases in offspring. To get a reliable conclusion, MR Egger regression, weighted median, and inverse variance weighted (IVW) were employed to estimate the causality, with IVW as the primary analysis. Multivariate MR (MVMR) analysis was used to assess the effect of MSAB on allergic diseases after adjusting for breastfeeding's impact. Sensitivity analysis was conducted using the Cochran Q test, MR-Egger, and leave-one-out approaches to ensure the reliability and stability of results. This study investigated the efficacy and safety of pharmaco-invasive strategy with half-dose recombinant human prourokinase (PHDP) during hospitalization for patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) to provide references for the treatment of STEMI. Patients with STEMI who fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria and attended Chengde Central Hospital, Hebei Province, China, between September 3, 2019, and December 28, 2021, were included in this study. The experimental group received PHDP and the control group underwent primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI). Background:. Microtia, or congenital malformation (smallness or absence) of the outer ear, can be treated with ear prosthetics and/or surgery. Methods:. Between January 2011 and December 2021, following plastic surgery, microbial strains from patients with microtia were collected, identified, and counted. WHONET 5.6 was used to analyze in vitro drug resistance of the microbial strains, according to procedures outlined by the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (document M100, 2021). Data regarding surgical techniques, the duration of infection, and other clinical details were also collected. Results:. A total of 261 patients were included in the study. Among these, 235 Gram-positive bacteria were detected, with Staphylococcus aureus (140/235) and coagulase-negative staphylococci (84/235) accounting for the majority. There were also 26 Gram-negative bacteria, of which Enterobacter (11/26) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (7/26) were the most common. According to the results of testing for antimicrobial resistance, S. aureus was highly sensitive to cotrimoxazole, levofloxacin, vancomycin, chloramphenicol, and linezolid, whereas coagulase-negative staphylococci were highly sensitive to vancomycin and linezolid. Both were highly resistant to penicillin and erythromycin. In this study, the pathogenic bacteria involved in postoperative infections varied overall, but the most prevalent was S. aureus. The infections appeared mainly in the late postoperative period. A total of 24,548 procedures were performed in the same period, and the infection rate was 1.06%. Conclusions:. Gram-positive bacteria are the major cause of infection following plastic surgery for microtia. The bacterial species, degrees of antimicrobial resistance, and length of infection varied among the various surgical procedures.

Background To investigate the differences between physicians in target delineation in intensity-modulated radiation therapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma as well as their impact on target dose coverage. Methods Ninety-nine in-hospital patients were randomly selected for retrospective analysis, and the target volumes were delineated by 2 physicians. The target volumes were integrated with the original plans, and the differential parameters, including the Dice similarity coefficient (DSC), Hausdorff distance (HD), and Jaccard similarity coefficient (JSC) were recorded. The dose–volume parameters to evaluate target dose coverage were analyzed by superimposing the same original plan to the 2 sets of images on which the target volumes were contoured by the 2 physicians. The significance of differences in target volumes and dose coverage were evaluated using statistical analysis. Results The target dose coverage for different sets of target volumes showed statistically significant differences, while the similarity metrics to evaluate geometric target volume differences did not. More specifically, for PGTVnx, the median DSC, JSC, and HD were 0.85, 0.74, and 11.73, respectively; for PCTV1, the median values were 0.87, 0.77, and 11.78, respectively; for PCTV2, the median values were 0.90, 0.82, and 16.12, respectively. For patients in stages T3-4, DSC, and JSC were reduced but HD was increased compared to those in stages T1-2. Dosimetric analysis indicated that, for the target volumes, significant differences between the 2 physicians were found in D95, D99, and V100 for all the target volumes (ie, PGTVnx, PCTV1, and PCTV2) across the whole group of patients, as well as in patients with disease stages T3-4 and T1-2. Conclusions The target volumes delineated by the 2 physicians had a high similarity, but the maximal distances between the outer contours of the 2 sets were significantly different. In patients with advanced T stages, significant differences in dose distributions were found, stemming from the deviations of target delineation.

ABSTRACT: Objective: To compare the laparoendoscopic single-site (LESS) technique with conventional laparoscopy in cystectomy for benign ovarian cysts. Materials and methods: A retrospective analysis was performed at Yixing People's Hospital from April 2020 until December 2021. Results: Thirty-seven patients using the LESS technique were compared with a control group of 45 patients who underwent a traditional laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy. There was no statistically significant difference in the perioperative hemoglobin level changes, cyst rupture rate, postoperative recovery of exhausting time, or pain score at 24 hours after surgery between the 2 groups (P > 0.05). The mean operating time was significantly longer in the LESS group than that of the control group (88.38 ± 30.57 minutes vs 59.44 ± 24.22 minutes; P = 0.001). However, the length of postoperative hospital stay was significantly shorter in the LESS group (3.70 ± 0.57 days vs 4.38 ± 0.86 days; P = 0.001). In addition, total hospitalization expenses were higher in the LESS group (14,709.78 ± 1618.63 yuan vs 12,676.73 ± 1411.78 yuan; P = .001) and the satisfaction score was also significantly higher in the LESS group (z = –2.272; P = 0.023). After a follow-up time of 12 to 24 months, no patient in either group showed wound infection, umbilical hernia, or recurrent cysts. Conclusions: The LESS technique for benign ovarian cystectomy is safe, feasible, and equally effective compared with the multiport laparoscopic oophorocystectomy. Although it currently costs more, patients with benign ovarian cysts are highly satisfied with the LESS technique.

Objective: To estimate the efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine (Chining decoction, CHIN) for radiation-induced oral mucositis in patients with head and neck cancer. Methods: From May 2014 to December 2015, 70 consecutive patients were randomly assigned to receive CHIN (treatment group) or recombinant human epidermal growth factor (rhEGF) spray (control group) at a 1:1 ratio. CHIN was administered to treatment group from the first day of radiotherapy until the completion of radiotherapy. Simultaneously, the rhEGF spray was administered to control group on the oral mucosa of irradiated area. The clinical benefit was determined by gradation of mucositis (Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events v4.0), oral pain, and xerostomia (visual analysis scale) for each week during radiotherapy. Body mass index was evaluated before and after radiotherapy. Results: Patients in the treatment group had prominent remission of oral pain and grade of mucositis on each observing point compared with those in control group ( P < .01). Xerostomia was decreased notably in treatment group compared with control group ( P < .01). Body mass index in the treatment group exhibited advantage over control group after radiotherapy, but there was no statistical significance (19.8 ± 3.26 vs 18.8 ± 2.5 kg/m 2 , P = .153, >.05). Conclusions: CHIN presented an obvious advantage in preventing radiation-induced oral mucositis compared with rhEGF spray.
