Background: This study aimed to explore the effect of knowledge, COVID-19-related perceptions, and public trust on protective behaviors in Turkish people. Methods: Data were collected from an online survey (Turkish COVID-19 Snapshot Monitoring) conducted between July 2020 and January 2021. The recommended protective behaviors (hand cleaning, wearing a face mask, and physical distancing) to prevent COVID-19 were examined. The impacts of the following variables on protective behaviors were investigated using logistic regression analysis: knowledge, cognitive and affective risk perception, pandemic-related worry content, public trust, conspiracy thinking, and COVID-19 vaccine willingness. Results: Out of a total of 4210 adult respondents, 13.8% reported nonadherence to protection behavior, and 86.2% reported full adherence. Males and young (aged 18–30 years) people tend to show less adherence. Perceived self-efficacy, susceptibility, and correct knowledge were positively related to more adherence to protective behavior. Perceptual and emotional factors explaining protective behavior were perceived proximity, stress level, and worrying about the relatives who depended on them. Trust in health professionals and vaccine willingness were positive predictors, while conspiracy thinking and acquiring less information (

The efficacy of health professions education (HPE) is more and more reliant on leveraging new technologies as they emerge. The nascent "Web 3.0" is shifting us away from traditional centralized architectures for capture and storage of information, and aims to decentralize and distribute it. Blockchain has received a large amount of attention as a promising "Web 3.0" technology and has been applied in the HPE setting. In this paper we argue that blockchain has two core issues which have prevented its widespread adoption: scalability and environmental impact. The architecture of blockchain means that all participating nodes must store and validate all of the data. This creates a large amount of overhead, which does not scale well. Similarly, there is growing awareness that the energy requirements of validating blockchain transactions run counter to global efforts to mitigate climate change. Holochain, however, is a novel Web 3.0 technology that aims to overcome both of these issues. Its architecture is fundamentally different to blockchain, by virtue of being "agent-centric" rather than "data-centric". That is, each piece of data does not need to be globally validated--and yet Holochain can still guarantee data validity and integrity. We identify that specific challenges in the HPE setting--tracking educational activities, accountable mechanisms for observing entrustable professional activities, and validation of third-party certification and credentialing--can all be achieved elegantly in Holochain, without experiencing any of the disadvantages evidenced in blockchain.

Objective: In the current system, where there is an increasing burden of knowledge and complex health issues, along with complex tasks related to individual skills being insufficient alone in problem-solving, the formation of teams consisting of different areas of expertise and working together for the same purpose, sharing different responsibilities of the task, has become mandatory. A leader's essential quality is emotional intelligence. A leader should well understand themselves and the context they are in, and be able to direct, motivate, establish a communication network, and shape their environment. In medical education, programs are being enriched to ensure that future physicians, who will lead various teams, are aware of these qualities. Methods: Our study will shed light on the relationship between emotional intelligence and leadership from different perspectives and the current approach to the concept of leadership among physicians in our country, guiding areas to be developed in education. It is a descriptive cross-sectional study, where emotional intelligence and leadership scales were applied through a web-based socio-demographic form, and data analysis was conducted. Results: In the clinical leadership scale, no significant difference was found between the main branch groups (Surgery-Internal Medicine-Basic Medical Sciences) in terms of emotional intelligence scale scores according to one-way analysis of variance (p=0.329). A positive correlation of 0.465 was found between the Emotional Intelligence Scale and the Clinical Leadership Scale. Conclusion: An increase of one unit in the emotional intelligence scale affects the clinical leadership score by a factor of 0.46. A moderate relationship is observed.
