This study aims to determine the significance of Green Sukuk in enhancing Indonesia's economic development strategy in the new normal era. - The method employed was quantitative with forecasting. Furthermore, the researchers employed the least squares quantitative and historical analogy qualitative techniques. The study's findings indicate Green Sukuk's role in boosting Indonesia's economic development plan in the new normal era. The implications of the study are likely to add to the body of knowledge linked to the function of Green Sukuk in enhancing Indonesia's economic growth strategy in the new normal era. Increasing the number of issuances and contributions of State Sukuk (Islamic bonds/shariah-compliant bonds) to APBN funding, with an annual average of roughly 30% of total Government Securities (SBN) financing. To the best of the researchers' knowledge, this is one of the first attempts to empirically study the function of Sukuk in boosting Indonesia's economic development strategy in the new normal era. The post-Covid-19 global economic landscape has yielded complex challenges. Given bleaker global growth prospects, moderating commodity prices and a higher cost of borrowing, the Indonesian government took a conservative approach to fiscal policy by narrowing the budget deficit to ease the financing pressures. Meanwhile, the central bank, Bank Indonesia, implemented contractionary monetary policy by raising the reserve requirement and policy rates. Weaker global demand, along with limited policy support, contributed to a decrease in economic growth, from 5.3% in 2022 to 5.0% in 2023. The government's conservative approach in 2023 helped produce a surplus in the primary balance, a narrower budget deficit and a lower government–debt ratio. Nonetheless, much is to be done, as more development is needed to encourage long-term growth while revenue collection has been relatively low. Improvement in tax policy and administration will be crucial to allow the government to collect more revenue, including a comprehensive review of tax incentives and exemptions. The efficacy of spending also needs to be further improved by consistently reforming energy subsidisation, reallocating spending to growth areas, better aligning local development policies with the national position, and better targeting poverty-alleviation programs. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui biografi Ibnu Khaldun,historiografi yang digunakan oleh Ibnu Khaldun dalam penulisan sejarah, dan pemikiran Ibnu Khaldun mengenai teori ekonomiIslam dan relevansinya dengan perekonomian Indonesia. Teori-teori ini meliputi, perdagangan dan pasar, pajak, produksi dandistribusi, mekanisme pasar dan monopoli, dan teori ekspor-impor. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kepustakaan (libraryresearch) dengan pendekatan kualitatif, dengan menggunakan Kitab Muqaddimah sebagai sumber primer. Protectionism in Indonesia has been returning since the mid-2000s following a brief period of deregulation and liberalisation after the Asian financial crisis (AFC). This Survey reviews recent developments in Indonesia's trade policy. It argues that the current approach to trade appears to vacillate between ambivalence, pragmatism and nationalism. Three cases are used to demonstrate the interplay between these characterisations: 'downstreaming' and local content requirement policies, Indonesia's relationship with the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the proliferation of trade agreements, and the commodity balance sheet approach to trade. The paper argues that increasing trade and integrating further into the global value chains are important to have faster economic growth and one way to facilitate that is by improving logistics infrastructure. Economic globalization is a process of integrating the national economy into the global economic system carried out by TNC, WTO, IMF and World Bank actors. Economic globalization is the increasing economic integration and interdependence of national, regional and local economies throughout the world through the intensification of cross-border movement of goods, services, technology and capital. Globalization causes trade between countries to become freer. This is one of the greatest benefits for nation building. Domestic industries experience reduced trade barriers and have access to wider international markets. Economically, Indonesia depends on international trade, production and finance. Therefore, the Indonesian state is vulnerable to international pressure and globalization. Economic globalization has an impact on national economic laws which must appear as an integration mechanism that can harmonize various internal interests of the nation, national and international interests as well as between sectors of national life. The Indonesian government has submitted its plan for nationally determined contributions (NDCs) to the United Nations and has committed to achieving net-zero emissions (NZEs) by 2060. While looking to reduce emissions from forestry, the government has prioritised a transition to renewable energy in the energy sector. However, Indonesia faces challenges owing to its lower-middle-income status, limited budgets and constraints in attracting international finance. This paper aims to assess Indonesia's potential for realising its energy transition goals. It evaluates the country's economic strength, past experiences in energy transition and the current status of ongoing initiatives. This study aims to determine the best model for a currency crisis in Indonesia (1991-2019) influenced by Fundamental and Contagion Effects. Fundamental factors consist of many macroeconomic indicators, while contagion is the impact of the crisis in other countries (Philippines, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia). The determination of a crisis period is based on the critical value of the EMPI (Exchange Market Pressure Index); the signal analysis approach ascertains the signal source of the vulnerability of macroeconomic indicators. The Fundamental and Contagion Effects in EMPI are modeled as the Polynomial Distributed-Lag. Apart from being better than cross-section data modeling, this model was also used to determine when the initial shock crisis happened. It complements Minsky's approach, which analyzed the crisis from the initial causes. Modeling using macroeconomic indicators shows that Fundamental and Contagion Effects are crucial in EMPI. Conversely, modeling only involving Leading Indicators shows that Contagion Effects are insignificant in EMPI. We analyze how regional economic structures affect the impact of monetary policy on rates of inflation across 34 Indonesian provinces. The paper first applies structural factor augmented vector autoregressive model (SFAVAR) to all the 34 provinces based on monthly provincial data in order to measure the length and magnitude of responses of regional inflation to monetary policy shock, derived from the consequential impulse response functions of 34 provinces. In the second step, we analyze the impact of economic structures on the length and magnitude of regional inflationary responses of 34 provinces. We find that the impacts of monetary policy across regions are significantly influenced by economic structural variables such as manufacturing sector share to GDP, mining sector share to GDP, bank lending share to GDP and export share to GDP. In addition, we found the spatial lag, rate of inflation of neighboring provinces, is also statistically significant. In a similar fashion, economic structural variables such as manufacturing sector share to GDP, construction sector share to GDP and investment share to GDP are found statistically significant in explaining regional differences of monetary policy efficiency. The purpose of this study is to detect the currency crisis in Indonesia by exploring the vulnerability of macroeconomic variables. The Exchange Market Pressure Index was used to determine the crisis period by modeling the threshold value. Early indicators were determined using the signal analysis approach; therefore, the vulnerability level of each macroeconomic variable is known and used to determine the leading indicators. The result showed that the Signal Analysis and Herrera–Garcia approaches are the best detection models. Furthermore, it was concluded that the Signal Analysis approach was better in detecting crises compared to the Herrera–Garcia approach. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The high economic growth is very important for Indonesia to accelerate the development process at this period. Although, the growth rate was reached at 5.17 % in 2018 is likely high enough, some domestic economists even point out, it really can be raised to a higher level. This research tries to investigate and formulate again Indonesia’s economic growth rate in 2018 and forecast it for 2019. By doing analysis recent real GDP data by industrial origin and by type of expenditures, and also consider all of the available potential economic resources, this research shows that Indonesia’s economic growth rate could stand at 6.03 % in 2018 and also at 6.03 % in 2019. Anyway, the government need a good economic plan and consistently performing appropriate strategies which are suited to targets in order to have rapid and stable economic growth rate

This paper will assess in aggregate and detail the trend of BOP and its component in Indonesia. Stationarity test will be employed to each component of Indonesian BOP to assess the persistency. This study will calculate the balance of payment constrained growth (BOPC) using Kalman Filter technique (state space model). The BOP, secondary income, and financial account are found to be stationer which means that the data are mean reverting. On the other hand, current account balance, trade balance, service balance, primary income, and capital account balance are unit root. This paper found the evidence of the importance of commodity price to Indonesian current account and export. Indonesian dependency on commodity-based export need to be restructured. Indonesia should also consider the side effect of FDI as a source of financing for current account deficit, without ignoring the positive effect of FDI and the volatility of portfolio investment. The persistency of primary income deficit should also become Indonesian future policy agenda.

This study aims to analyze the effect of the effectiveness of internal control, independent commissioners, the expertise of the board of commissioners, the number of audit committees, and the expertise of the audit committee on tax avoidance in manufacturing companies listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange period 2016-2018. This research is expected to be a material consideration for companies in making decisions related to taxation. The deductive approach used in this study by developing hypotheses based on relevant theories and findings of previous studies. Agency theory is used to see the effect of corporate governance on tax avoidance. The data collection method uses secondary data from the company's financial statements and annual reports according to specific criteria. Data analysis was performed by descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression. The results of the regression analysis prove that effectiveness of internal control and number of audit committees had a positive effect which means higher effectiveness of internal control and number of audit committees cause more tax avoidance, conversely independent commissioners and expertise of the board of commissioners had a negative effect which shows greater independent commissioners and expertise of the board of commissioners cause less tax avoidance. Another result claim that the expertise of the audit committee did not affect on tax avoidance. In contrast to previous studies, this study is more varied by combining several independent variables. Despite economic growth in middle-income countries across the global south, pockets of food poverty persist in the countryside. An accepted account suggests that many of the poor are stuck in a 'truncated agrarian transition' where neither agriculture nor labour markets provide sufficient opportunities. Yet, statistics indicate that many have moved out of poverty, even as undernourishment continues. Exploring an Indonesian periphery, this paper interrogates this conundrum. It describes a 'sideways scenario' where change fails to map onto both expectations of forward development and stagnation described by established theory. Since the Reform Era began in 1998, a democratization process has taken place in Indonesia. By assessing the three elements of state, economy, and society, and the evolution of their interactions, this study concludes that Indonesia's contemporary political condition has been shaped by a continuously strong and dominant state, increased participation of society, and the adoption of the developmental state model. The state remains a dominant actor since a strong presence and role of the state continues to be sustained by the elites to maintain power. Society's demands to receive government assistance have deepened the state's role. While in the past the state was heavily supported by the military, today, the presence of the military within the democratic system has significantly diminished and been replaced by different economic actors. The elites are more dependent on support from society to remain in power and to implement policies that are generally achieved through economic incentives. Public participation appears in a majority of social, economic, and even political affairs, mainly to fulfill the requirement of being democratic. This study aims to determine the relationship between macroeconomics variables, including investment, export, and e-money transactions towards economic growth in Indonesia. This research applied Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) in order to determine long-term and short-term relationships between the variables. This research used quarterly time-series data during 2010- 2017 from the Central Bank of Indonesia, Statistics Indonesia and Investment Coordination Board in Indonesia. For the analysis purposes, the study used a stationary test, long-lag test, cointegration test, and a causality test. The empirical results of this study show that in both short and long terms, investment has a positive impact on economic growth in Indonesia, while export and e-money transactions have a negative impact on economic growth in Indonesia during the research period. As a country of mega biodiversity, Indonesia is also vulnerable to biopiracy target. To prevent biopiracy, it is crucial to protect the country's genetic resources. In order to protect genetic resources and to prevent biopiracy, Indonesia has included the requirement of Disclosure of Origin (DO) in The Indonesian Patents Act, 2016 by imposing patent applicants to disclose the origins of genetic resources in Patent application. This paper critically analyses the Patents Act to highlight key issues that undermine the country's efforts to combat biopiracy. The principal findings are that there are significant problems with implementing DO provisions of the Act in the fight against bio piracy. The effectiveness of the legislation remains questionable and some important sections of the Act lack clarity. The purported regulatory framework under the Act to enforce DO and to help deal with biopiracy is ill defined and human resources are inadequate. The paper concludes that to combat biopiracy effectively Indonesia needs to review its legislative and institutional framework on DO and consider establishing a National Anti-Biopiracy Commission. The aspiration to achieve food self-sufficiency has returned to the Indonesian policy agenda in the post-reformasi period. After being side-lined as a policy goal immediately after the transition to democracy, political leaders since 2009 have increasingly cited self-sufficiency to justify policies to raise domestic food production and reduce food imports. These policies are often inefficient and at odds with the goals of food security and decreasing poverty. The self-sufficiency drive is thus often attributed to 'political' motives. But what kind of politics is at work in Indonesia's renewed self-sufficiency drive: a broad-based politics that aims to foster support among smallholder food producers, or an elite politics based on rent-seeking by narrow constituencies? The distributional implications of food self-sufficiency policies in the post-reformasi period suggest that both dynamics are at work. Narrow elite interests have benefited, but smallholder landowners account for a significant share of many agricultural crops. Although smallholder landowners are increasingly differentiated, they constitute a reasonably broad-based constituency. The valorisation of agriculture reflected in the self-sufficiency drive and related rural sector policies may lay the foundations for a more inclusive agricultural political economy. Purpose: This study aims to examine the adoption of peer-to-peer (P2P) lending platforms to determine the factors that encourage SMEs to use P2P lending platforms in obtaining loans. Design/methodology/approach: A sample of ten SMEs from a variety of backgrounds was taken in Bandung, Indonesia. Bandung has been awarded the title of "creative city" by UNESCO, as the city allows for the development of the creative economy. This research used a semi-structured interview. Coding method was then used for content analysis to establish which factors emerging from the interview were leading respondents to obtain a loan through the P2P lending platform. Findings: The findings imply that loan processes, interest rates, loan costs, loan amounts and loan flexibility affect SMEs in obtaining a loan through P2P lending. Moreover, alternative payment schemes in the form of Sharia-based lending and profit-sharing schemes were found. These findings constituted the original findings of this study. Research limitations/implications: The study offers findings on factors affecting SMEs in using the P2P lending platform as a form of alternative financing. Moreover, the theoretical framework provided can be used as literature in future research. As this study was conducted in Bandung, Indonesia, the findings may not be generalisable to other regions. Indonesia has managed the complex challenges of the global economy well. The country's capital outflows were smaller in 2018 than during the Taper Tantrum in 2013; the rupiah had regained most of its lost ground by January 2019; the Indonesian stock market has outperformed its peers; growth is forecast to remain stable; inflation is low; unemployment remains below its five-year average; consumer and business confidence are robust; and the government budget has improved through a smaller deficit and cheaper borrowing costs. But significant risks remain. This paper assesses these risks and evaluates the adequacy of Indonesia's crisis management framework. It finds that the framework has serious deficiencies that could see liquidity challenges become systemic solvency crises. The framework effectively removes Bank Indonesia as the lender of last resort, risks politicising the process of crisis response, and could mean slower, less effective responses to crises. This paper explores how the framework could be improved and what reforms could be undertaken to deepen Indonesia's financial system, strengthen financial resilience, and boost the long-term growth outlook. This research was conducted to find out how the size of the Public Accounting Firm (KAP), leverage, and corporate governance affect the integrity of financial statements of companies listed in the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) and indexed in the Corporate Governance Perception Index (CGPI). The research covers a period of 5 years' data observation (2012-2016). The effect of KAP size, leverage, and corporate governance were tested by applying panel data regression analysis. The result shows that leverage has a negative significant effect on the integrity of financial statements. This study aims to analyze (1) the determinants of dividend policy and (2) the implications for stock prices. This is a quantitative research conducted using panel data regression method. The population is all the financial statements of manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia stock exchange. Samples were obtained through purposive sampling method, namely, manufacturing companies that distributed dividends according to the criteria in 2013-2015, as many as 19 companies. The findings of this study are: (1) firm size and profitability (ROA) affect the company's dividend policy negatively and significantly. While leverage (DER) does not significantly affect the dividend policy; (2) variable firm size, profitability (ROA), and leverage (DER) significantly affect the company's stock price. Simultaneously, variable firm size, profitability, and leverage have a significant effect on the dividend policy and also on the stock price of manufacturing companies listed on the IDX for the period 2013-2015. The purposes of this article is to investigate factors that influence Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) reporting information at Indonesian sharia banks. The dependent variable of this study is the disclosure of corporate social responsibility. Independent variables are size of sharia banks, board of commissioner's size, company age, profitability of sharia banks. Sample used was 13 sharia banks that published annual reports and CSR reports in 2015 to 2017. Panel data were examined by regression. The result showed only firm size influence on CSR. The other independent variables do not influence the CSR reporting. Firm size is the predictor of how much content of CSR will be disclosed by management. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aims to determine the capital buffer determinants of go public banks in Indonesia from 2012 to 2016. The sample selection was based on purposive sampling which resulted in 23 samples of go public banks. The capital buffer is the dependent variable, and the adjustment cost is proxied by the lag of capital buffer (BUFFt-1), and business cycle proxied by GDP growth are the independent variables. The technique of the analysis is multiple regression analysis. The study results show that: (1) the adjustment cost has a positive and significant impact on capital buffer of go public banks in Indonesia; and that (2) business cycles have a negative and significant impact on capital buffer of go public banks in Indonesia. The determinants of capital structure have been debated among financial management researchers. This debate is caused by different research result about the determination of capital structure. The capital structure is a financing mix of short-term debt, longterm debt, and equity. This study investigates the determinants of capital structure in Manufacturing Companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. Tangibility, profitability, growth opportunities, business risk are used as independent variables, capital structure proxied by debt to equity ratio (DER) as dependent variables and firm size as a moderating variable. The population in this study is Manufacturing Companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the period 2010-2016; sampling technique used was purposive sampling and data analysis was done using panel data regression. The result shows that there is no significant impact of tangibility, profitability, and business risk to capital structure. The capital structure is significantly positively affected by the growth opportunities at Manufacturing Companies. Meanwhile, firm size as a moderating variable strengthens the positive and significant relationship between asset structure and capital structure. On the basis of these empirical findings, the determinants of capital structure are influenced by the growth of the firms. Although liquidity constraints have been seen as both a factor limiting individuals from migrating and a motivation for households to send a migrant, the consequences of relaxing liquidity constraints on migration behavior have not been adequately explored due to data limitations. In this study, we take advantage of an unusual policy, Bantuan Langsung Tunai -- a national-level unconditional cash transfer program targeted toward the poorest households in Indonesia -- to empirically assess the impact of increased liquidity on the migration behavior of poor Indonesian households.With a highly mobile population and a long history of circular migration, Indonesia is an ideal space to study migration. Using panel data from the Indonesian Family Life Survey, the results demonstrate that a positive liquidity shock increases the probability of migration among low-asset households, among households with a migration history, and, most significantly, among lowasset households with a migration history. This research highlights the impact of Kra Canal development on the Indonesian economy and the efforts of the Indonesian government in utilizing the Kra Canal. This study uses secondary data in the form of library material, which consists of previous research, books, official news, and information from trusted websites related to development plan of the Kra Canal. The results of the study indicate that the Kra Canal will have a positive and negative impact on the Indonesian economy. However, Kra Canal would give a big positive impact on the national economy if Indonesia is able to took advantage of Sabang Port and Kuala Tanjung Port as an international standard port, which is capable of serving foreign ship loading as well as an international hub replacing the Singapore ports. To maximize the positive impact, the government needs to improve the implementation of sea highway (tol laut) project that have been launched and implemented since 2015 as a means of distribution from-and-to Sabang Port and Kuala Tanjung Port. This study evaluates the enactment of multiakad principles in the Sharia Banking products within the frame of eclectic law. There are 13 Sharia Commercial Banks in Indonesia that offer 228 non multiakad products and 168 multiakad products. This study identifies factors behind the enactment of multiakad principles in Sharia Banking products and the model of eclectic law that it subscribes to. The study is based on library research. The data used for this research was obtained from reputable documents and online literature. The findings show that various factors surround the implementation of multiakad in Sharia Banking products in Indonesia: political, economic and law. Indonesia has dramatically increased school enrolment at the secondary level over the past several decades, as reflected in national statistics. However, significant variation in enrolment rates remains across regions and genders. In some areas, nearly all youth complete secondary school; in others fewer than half attend. This study investigates the reasons for secondary school dropout in Banten and Aceh, two provinces of Indonesia with lower-than-average secondary school enrolment rates. We interviewed 28 out-of-school youth and conducted focus groups and observations at non-formal education programs serving dropouts. We find that high costs for secondary school were the overwhelming reason for dropout, with a subset of boys also reporting behavioural issues as a contributing factor. While costs affected adolescent boys and girls equally, the options facing them after dropout differed sharply. The findings point to the need for easier paths back into formal education for youth who have dropped out. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This research studies the trading activity of type of traders through their brokers. Order imbalance is believed to be a better proxy for explaining trading activity. This paper presents some empirical test that on brokerage level analysis exhibit information paradigm in Indonesia which market makers and specialist are not available. We divide imbalances into groups of samples (all stocks and most liquid stocks), trader type (foreign or domestic) and size of brokerage firm (small to big). Our results show that order imbalances generally have a positive serial correlation for all the traders and brokers analyzed. However, we find that the determinant of order imbalances is a particular phenomenon at the brokerage level, whose results differ from our market-wide analysis. We do not find that previous order imbalances can predict market returns across trader type and brokerage class. In contrast, for the inventory paradigm, the evidence from the brokerage level analysis indicates that information dissemination is induced order imbalance by brokerage house. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We investigate the profitability of style and price momentum strategy in the Indonesian stock market from the year 2000 to 2015. We find the style momentum strategy yields significant positive returns while the price momentum strategy tends to produce negative returns. This result confirms the findings of Lewellen (2002) that style momentum returns are generally stronger than the conventional momentum. The average monthly returns of the double-sorted size-B/M style momentum are ranging from 1.98% to 2.64% and persistent after controlling for market factor using JSX index. Our findings suggest investors should utilize publicly available information such as size and book-to-market ratio on their investment decision in the Indonesian stock market. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

There is extensive evidence indicating a negative risk-return relation when a firm's performance is measured based on accounting measures, such as its Return on Assets (ROA) and Return on Equity (ROE). Previous studies show that the risk-return paradox can be explained by the prospect theory, which predicts that managers' risk attitudes are different for firms with differing performance. This study will test whether there is a risk-return paradox in the context of Indonesian companies. This study uses ROA and its standard deviation to define return and risk. Industry level and market level median ROA are used as reference points. Three control variables (firm size, leverage as a proxy of firm risk, and company age) are included in the model to increase the robustness of this research. A new sample of nine industries (about 488 firms) over a 10-year period (2008-2017) provides strong evidence that the risk-return paradox exists in Indonesia. In particular, firms which are below their target level are found to be risk takers (Hl) while organizations above their target level are risk averse (H2); moreover, the below-target slope was generally steeper than the above-target slope (H3). Painted Terrapin (Batagur borneoensis Schlegel and Muller 1845) conservation in the coastal area of Aceh Tamiang Regency faces difficulties because it involves many stakeholder. The objective of this study were to analyze stakeholder interest, influences and describe the relationship among stakeholder in the conservation of Batagur borneoensis at Aceh Tamiang District. The study was conducted in Aceh Tamiang District and respondents were selected using purposive sampling method. The data obtained using questionnaire, interview, and direct observation were analyzed with stakeholder clasification matrix, stakeholder interaction matrix and descriptive analysis. The results showed that there are twenty-seven stakeholder involved in the conservation of Batagur borneoensis which can be categorized as subjects, key players, context setters, and crowds. To achieve the management objectives of Batagur borneoensis conservation, stakeholder engagement needs to be improved through collaboration among key players, participation all key stakeholder, and community empowerment.
