Objective To investigate the role of metabolically normal obesity in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD). Methods From 2011 to 2012, a cross-section survey with 4 757 participants enrolled from four communities in Wenzhou was conducted. Data collection was conducted through questionnaire survey, physical examination, laboratory examination, and multiple logistic regression analysis was used to comprehensively identify the risk factors of NAFLD. Results 1 068 individuals(22.4%) were diagnosed as metabolically healthy obesity. The prevalence of NAFLD was 43.5%. Among the various obesity phenotypes, the proportions ranked from high to low were metabolically unhealthy obese(MUO), metabolically unhealthy nonobese(MUNO), metabolically healthy obese(MHO) and metabolically healthy nonobese(MHNO). Obesity was defined by waist circumference and BMI, the risk of NAFLD in MHO population was 3.38 times(95% CI:2.13-5.37) and 4.69 times(95% CI:3.01-7.16) higher than that of MHNO, respectively. Conclusions MHO is associated with an increased risk of NAFLD in the Chinese population. It is necessary to screen for NAFLD in obese subjects regardless state of metabolic health.

Abstract Objective This study was aimed to explore the potential roles of miR-130b for the efficacy of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) in patients with primary hepatocellular carcinoma (PHC). Methods The serum sample of 110 PHC patients, which underwent RFA treatment, was collected on 1d pre-operation (Pre 1), 7d (POD 7) and 14d post-operation (POD 14). qRT-PCR was used to detect miR-130b expression. The relationship between miR-130b expression and clinicopathological features, postoperative recurrence and survival rate were analyzed. Results The liver function of PHC patients was improved after RFA treatment. The level of alpha fetoprotein (AFP) was gradually reduced on POD 7 and POD 14 (all P < 0.05). Before RFA, the expression of miR-130b in PHC patients was upregulated, while the expression of miR-130b decreased significantly with time after RFA treatment. And high expression of miR-130b was closely related to cirrhosis (P = 0.027) and tumor differentiation degree (P < 0.01). Serum miR-130b levels were significantly higher in patients with recurrence than in patients without recurrence (P < 0.05). Patients were divided into two groups according to miR-130b expression level (median ΔCt), compared with low ΔCt group, the incidence of recurrence in high ΔCt group was significantly higher after RFA (P = 0.020). Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that the survival rate of high ΔCt group was significantly shorter than that of low ΔCt group (P < 0.001). Conclusion Our study provided evidence that serum miR-130b level may be used as an ideal marker for monitoring the recurrence and prognosis of PHC after RFA treatment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Machine learning approach has been applied previously to physical problem such as complex fluid flows. This paper presents a method of using convolutional neural networks to directly predict the mixing characteristics between coolant film and combusted gas in a rocket combustion chamber. Based on a reference experiment, numerical solutions are obtained from Reynolds-Averaged Navier–Stokes simulation campaign and then interpolated into the rectangular target grids. A U-net architecture is modified to encode and decode features of the mixing flow field. The influence of training data size and learning time with both normal and re-convolutional loss function is illustrated. By conducting numerical experiments about test cases, the modified architecture and related learning settings are demonstrated with global errors less than 0.55%. • Application of the deep learning approach on film cooling in a rocket combustor. • The U-net architecture of convolutional neural networks capturing the features of mixing characteristics. • Training performance improvement by adding a re-convolutional term of loss function.
