The article reports on a cluster randomised controlled trial done to test the effectiveness of a full time nurse in assisting residential aged care facilities using data for falls injury prevention. It describes the trials involving 5,391 residents in 88 aged care facilities in New South Wales for 545 days for the period July 2005 to June 2007 using a project nurse to encourage best-practice falls injury prevention strategies and measured for falls and falls injury. The results reportedly show difficulty in changing falls risk among high-risk patients.
