Abstract

This article examines the effect of ammonium lactate 12% lotion versus no therapy in the treatment of dry skin of the heels. The effectiveness of ammonium lactate 12% lotion was evident as early as one week after starting of the treatment, the skin progressively improved during the full 8-week-Course of treatment. After cessation of treatment, the ammonium lactate-treated heels slowly regressed to a moderate degree of dryness over a 4-week-period, but overall did not return to baseline dryness level.
