Complexation of quinoline aza oxa this 17-crown-6 (L) with some metal cations (K+, Na+, Li+, Mg2+) was studied through computational methods. Hartree-Fock method was employed to identify structure and thermodynamical binding constant of crown and metal ions complexes. The calculations were conducted at the HF/6-31g and HF/Lanl2DZ levels of theory. According to the obtained data Mg2+ ion formed the most stable complex with crown and equilibrium binding constants of complex formation has the following order: L. K+ < L. Na+

A highly efficient, green and simple solvent-free method for the synthesis of 1-amidoalkyl-2-naphthols via one-pot multi-components condensation of 2-naphthol, aromatic aldehydes and amides in the presence of catalytic amount of silica-supported molybdatophosphoric acid (H3PMo12O40.xH2O/SiO2, 3.17 mol%) is described. The reactions proceed rapidly and the title compounds are produced in high to excellent yields.

Zn/AcOH on silica gel converts a range of structurally different sulfoxides to their corresponding thioethers in excellent yields under microwave irradiation. It has been found that chemoselective deoxygenation of sufoxides can be achieved in the presence of other reducible functional groups such as acetals, acids, amides, esters, ketones and nitriles.

In this research work, dinaphthyl sulfide diester was prepared from the reaction of 1,1′-thiobis (2-hydroxy naphthalene) and methylchloroacetate. Its aza-macrocyclic derivative was synthesized from the reaction of dinaphthyl sulfide diester and diethylenetriamine. Lariats were prepared from the reaction of chloroamides (four derivatives) and initial macrocycle. Chloroamides were synthesized from the reaction of amines (aniline, benzylamine, 8-amino quinoline and 4-amino azobenzene) and chloroacetyl chloride. All the materials were identified by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and mass spectroscopies, and elemental analysis.

A highly efficient, green and expeditious solvent-free method is described for the chemoselective conversion of aldehydes to the corresponding acylals in excellent yields, using acetic anhydride in the presence of catalytic amount (20 mol%) of silica-supported LiHSO4. Ketones does not react under these reaction conditions. LiHSO4/SiO2 can be recovered and reused without any significant loss of its catalytic activity.
