The advancement of society and the raising of people's standards of living depend heavily on electricity in today's world. The ''zero energy buildings'' idea, which recommends that buildings become self-sufficient in renewable energy to prevent the emission of CO2 into the environment, is now one of the most significant initiatives connected to building energy efficiency. This article describes a computational intelligence method to detect anomalous variations in a facility's energy use and infer a potential cause of such changes. The model is built using five sets of historical power consumption data from three buildings spread across four nations (Ecuador, Spain, France, and Canada), which are categorized based on the anomaly type each piece of data represents. Through a statistical study of the confidence interval, the proposed method, first determines the consumption patterns for each day of the week in each of the building's data sets. After normalizing the day to be studied toward its ''Z'' value, it is then cataloged using a machine learning model. The proposed method is evaluated in comparison to a purely statistical method called SAEEC methodology and it is discovered that the proposed method offers a relative improvement in accuracy, false positive rate (FPR), and false negative rate (FNR) of 12.41%, 42, 36%, and 42.45%, respectively, for the detection of atypical values in electrical energy consumption.

The Europeana digital library features cultural heritage collections from over 3,000 European institutions described in 37 languages. However, most textual metadata describe the records in a single language, the data providers' language. Improving Europeana's multilingual accessibility presents challenges due to the unique characteristics of cultural heritage metadata, often expressed in short phrases and using in-domain terminology. This work presents the EuropeanaTranslate project's approach and results, aimed at translating Europeana metadata records from 23 EU languages into English. Machine Translation engines were trained on a cleaned selection of bilingual and synthetic data from Europeana, including multilingual vocabularies and relevant cultural heritage repositories. Automatic translations were evaluated through standard metrics and human assessments by linguists and domain cultural heritage experts. The results showed significant improvements when compared to the generic engines used before the in-domain training as well as the eTranslation service for most languages. The EuropeanaTranslate engines have translated over 29 million metadata records on Europeana.eu. Summary: Background: Paediatric acute bronchiolitis normally occurs from October to April in the temperate northern hemisphere, peaking in January. Nonpharmacological measures to control the spread of COVID-19 resulted in a decrease in the number of cases of bronchiolitis during the 2020–21 season. The discontinuation of these measures created an uncertain scenario. Aim: To describe the epidemiological evolution of acute bronchiolitis seasons and the changes in the demographics of the affected population before, during, and after the implementation of nonpharmacological interventions for COVID-19 in Spain. Methods: This was a multicentre and descriptive study. A total of 6,334 infants aged up to 12 months who were diagnosed with acute bronchiolitis were recruited from sixteen Spanish hospitals. We collected data from participants from September 1st, 2021, through August 31st, 2023, as part of the ECEALHBA research project. The study periods were before (P1), during (P2), and after (P3) the COVID-19 pandemic. Findings: In P2 and after the discontinuation of nonpharmacological interventions, an unexpected increase in the number of acute bronchiolitis cases was observed from June–August 2021, resulting in an out-of-season peak. A subsequent peak was observed in November 2021, earlier than expected for the 2021-22 season. In the context of inclusive schools, social-emotional learning encourages student involvement in classroom life and is related to a decrease in maladaptive behaviour. The objective of this study is to analyse the impact of a social-emotional education program on aggressiveness and emotional instability in childhood. Participants were 555 children aged 7 to 12 years (M=9.2 and SD=1.5), 55.5% boys and 45.5% girls. The children were students of primary education at six public schools in Valencia (Spain). The sample was distributed into an experimental group (317 children; 57.2% of the total participating population) and a control group (238 children). The teachers of the experimental group received training to implement the program in class. The teachers of the control group received no training and did not apply the program. The results in the pre-test and posttest phases in both groups are analysed. In the pretest phase, significant differences appeared between the groups: the experimental group showed higher levels of aggressiveness and emotional instability than the control group. In the post-test phase, aggressiveness and emotional instability decreased significantly in the experimental group (medium-high effect size), whilst aggressiveness and emotional instability increased in the control group. The effects of the program on the students are discussed further.

Abstract Background The Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) is a widely recognized tool for assessing sexual dysfunction (SD). However, its validation for Spanish women suffering from multiple sclerosis (MS) has not yet been conducted. Aim The study aimed to examine the psychometric properties of the 19-item Spanish version of the FSFI (svFSFI) in women with relapsing MS. Method A total of 137 women with relapsing MS from three Spanish centers participated in the study and completed the svFSFI. The psychometric properties of the questionnaire were evaluated. The prevalence of SD in the study cohort was determined, and its association with clinical and sociodemographic variables was analyzed using bi- and multivariate regression analyses. Results The svFSFI demonstrated excellent test-retest reliability and substantial-to-excellent internal consistency in the context of relapsing MS. There was significant convergent validity in the intercorrelations of domains. Discriminant validity showed differences in SD between women with high and low neurological disability, as measured by the Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) scores. An exploratory factor analysis indicated a five-factor structure for the svFSFI. The prevalence of SD in the MS cohort was found to be 42.6%, with the ‘desire’ and ‘arousal’ domains being the most affected. Factors such as EDSS score, fatigue, depression, and having a stable partner were found to influence the total svFSFI score. Conclusion The study validates the svFSFI as a reliable and valid instrument for evaluating sexual dysfunction in Spanish women with MS.

The consolidation of digital television via subscription video on demand (SVOD) services has created an unprecedented increase in the consumption of serialised TV shows, which has had direct consequences on the content production sector. Faced with an increasingly demanding, hyperconnected and discerning audience and a supply of content never previously seen, television production and distribution strategies are involved in a process of change and adaptation. This paper seeks to analyse the production of Spanish television series created to be distributed on SVOD platforms. The aim is to know the role that production companies play in the creation of television series for SVOD so as to identify strategies and cooperative alliances between production companies and platforms and to detect possible patterns and trends in the operations of the audiovisual market. Using a mixed methodology that combines quantitative study with qualitative data analysis, the 88 Spanish TV series and miniseries that premiered on SVOD platforms from 2016 to 2021 are analysed, taking as a starting point the year in which these platforms began operating in Spain. The results confirm a trend towards cooperation between independent production companies and the platforms themselves, while no presence of in-house production is observed. Likewise, the atomisation of the role of production companies in the context of SVOD is shown, a phenomenon that already existed in generalist television production.

El propósito de este artículo es examinar el que consideramos el primer manual publicado en Hispanoamérica dedicado específicamente al análisis lógico y gramatical y, en consecuencia, la obra que podría iniciar la serie textual en este continente, en un contexto político y educativo en el que se precisan manuales para la enseñanza del castellano. El estudio de las dos ediciones del tratado de Félix Arriagada, publicadas en Santiago de Chile en 1859 y 1871, permiten mostrar las influencias fundamentales que recibió el autor al aplicar esta metodología didáctica —la Análisis lógica y gramatical de la lengua española (1843) de Juan Calderón y la Gramática de la lengua castellana destinada al uso de los americanos (1847) de Andrés Bello—, así como la de otros autores contemporáneos, que Arriagada adapta para conseguir un manual que facilite la práctica del análisis en las clases de gramática castellana que se realizaban en las escuelas.

Abstract Background Multiple myeloma (MM) is the second most common hematologic neoplasm which is characterized by proliferation and infiltration of plasmatic cells in the bone marrow. Currently, MM is considered incurable due to resistance to treatment. The CRISPR/Cas9 system has emerged as a powerful tool for understanding the role of different genetic alterations in the pathogenesis of hematologic malignancies in both cell lines and mouse models. Despite current advances of gene editing tools, the use of CRISPR/Cas9 technology for gene editing of MM have not so far been extended. In this work, we want to repress Rnd3 expression, an atypical Rho GTPase involved in several cellular processes, in MM cell lines using a CRISPR interference strategy. Results We have designed different guide RNAs and cloning them into a lentiviral plasmid, which contains all the machinery necessary for developing the CRISPR interference strategy. We co-transfected the HEK 293T cells with this lentiviral plasmid and 3rd generation lentiviral envelope and packaging plasmids to produce lentiviral particles. The lentiviral particles were used to transduce two different multiple myeloma cell lines, RPMI 8226 and JJN3, and downregulate Rnd3 expression. Additionally, the impact of Rnd3 expression absence was analyzed by a transcriptomic analysis consisting of 3’ UTR RNA sequencing. The Rnd3 knock-down cells showed a different transcriptomic profile in comparison to control cells. Conclusions We have developed a CRISPR interference strategy to generate stable Rnd3 knockdown MM cell lines by lentiviral transduction. We have evaluated this strategy in two MM cell lines, and we have demonstrated that Rnd3 silencing works both at transcriptional and protein level. Therefore, we propose CRISPR interference strategy as an alternative tool to silence gene expression in MM cell lines. Furthermore, Rnd3 silencing produces changes in the cellular transcriptomic profile.

IL-11 is linked to fibrotic diseases, but its role in pulmonary hypertension is unclear. We examined IL-11's involvement in idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension (iPAH). Using samples from control (n = 20) and iPAH (n = 6) subjects, we assessed IL-11 and IL-11Rα expression and localization through RT-qPCR, ELISA, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence. A monocrotaline-induced PAH model helped evaluate the impact of siRNA-IL-11 on pulmonary artery remodeling and PH. The effects of recombinant human IL-11 and IL-11Rα on human pulmonary artery smooth muscle cell (HPASMC) proliferation, pulmonary artery endothelial cell (HPAEC) mesenchymal transition, monocyte interactions, endothelial tube formation, and precision cut lung slice (PCLS) pulmonary artery remodeling and contraction were evaluated. IL-11 and IL-11Rα were over-expressed in pulmonary arteries (3.2-fold and 75-fold respectively) and serum (1.5-fold and 2-fold respectively) of patients with iPAH. Therapeutic transient transfection with siRNA targeting IL-11 resulted in a significant reduction in pulmonary artery remodeling (by 98%), right heart hypertrophy (by 66%), and pulmonary hypertension (by 58%) in rats exposed to monocrotaline treatment. rhIL-11 and soluble rhIL-11Rα induce HPASMC proliferation and HPAEC to monocyte interactions, mesenchymal transition, and tube formation. Neutralizing monoclonal IL-11 and IL-11Rα antibodies inhibited TGFβ1 and EDN-1 induced HPAEC to mesenchymal transition and HPASMC proliferation. In 3D PCLS, rhIL-11 and soluble rhIL-11Rα do not promote pulmonary artery contraction but sensitize PCLS pulmonary artery contraction induced by EDN-1.In summary, IL-11 and IL-11Rα are more highly expressed in the pulmonary arteries of iPAH patients and contribute to pulmonary artery remodeling and the development of PH.

Abstract Background Food addiction (FA) is characterised by symptoms such as loss of control over food consumption, inability to reduce consumption despite the desire to do so, and continued consumption despite negative consequences. The modified Yale Food Addiction Scale 2.0 (mYFAS 2.0) is a widely used instrument to assess FA. Objectives To validate the Spanish mYFAS 2.0; to analyse the relationships between FA with other eating behaviours, sociodemographic variables, and Body Mass Index (BMI); and to test the eating-related variables that account for the variance in FA. Methods The sample consisted of 400 university students (M age = 24.16, SD age = 6.12; 51% female), who completed the mYFAS 2.0 and measures of eating-related constructs. Results A confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) supported the one-factor structure of the mYFAS 2.0. The scale showed good internal consistency (α = .78), and good convergent validity with the mYFAS. FA was related to eating styles, binge eating, and bulimia. No differences in FA were observed between males and females, and there was no association between FA and BMI. In addition, younger participants scored higher on FA than older participants. The eating-related variables explain 54.7% of the variance in FA. Conclusions The mYFAS 2.0 is a valid and reliable scale to assess FA in the Spanish population. The positive and significant relationship of variables related to eating (eating styles, binge eating and bulimia) with FA was demonstrated. These variables were indicated by those at high risk of FA.

Resumen: Introducción y objetivo: Entre 2020-2021 hemos sufrido una pandemia por el virus SARS-CoV-2. Debido a los cambios sociales por la pandemia, nos hemos propuesto estudiar el comportamiento epidemiológico de las principales infecciones de transmisión sexual (ITS) bacterianas (clamidia, gonorrea y sífilis) durante este periodo y compararlo con periodos previos. Material y método: Se recogieron las muestras mensuales de clamidia, gonorrea y sífilis entre los años 2018-2021 y las muestras positivas mensuales de SARS-CoV-2 entre los años 2020-2021 del Hospital General Universitario de Valencia, analizadas por técnica PCR Multiplex. Se recogieron datos clínicos y demográficos de los pacientes con ITS. Resultados: Durante los años 2020-2021 (pandemia) se diagnosticaron más casos de ITS total (664) que durante los años 2018-2019 (prepandemia) (570), con tasas de incidencia superiores y tasas de positividad similares. Se ha observado una correlación cronológica negativa entre las muestras positivas de SARS-CoV-2 y las muestras positivas de ITS. La edad media de los pacientes con diagnóstico de clamidia, gonorrea y sífilis fue de 29,64 (IC 95% 19,33-41,14), 30,86 (IC 95% 20,24-42,45) y 37,04 (IC 95% 26,01-51,00) años, respectivamente. El número de casos de clamidia en varones ha aumentado un 13,85% (IC 95% 6,39-21,08; p = 0,0003) en los años de pandemia. Conclusión: Durante los años de pandemia, ha existido una correlación negativa entre los casos de SARS-CoV-2 y los casos de ITS, con más casos de clamidia en varones. Las ITS han aumentado en los 2 últimos años, por lo que son un importante problema de salud en la población joven y adulta que merece especial atención. Abstract: Introduction and objective: The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic brought about social changes in 2020 and 2021. The aim of this study was to evaluate the epidemiologic profiles of the main sexually transmitted infections (STIs) of bacterial origin (chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis) diagnosed during this period and compare them to findings from previous years. Material and methods: Drawing on data from Hospital General Universitario in Valencia, Spain, we recorded the number of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis cases diagnosed monthly by multiplex PCR in 2018-2021 and the number of PCR-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 cases diagnosed monthly in 2020-2021. We also collected clinical and demographic information on all patients diagnosed with STIs during the years studied. Results: The total number of STIs diagnosed increased from 570 in 2018-2019 to 664 in 2020-2021. PCR positivity rates were similar in the 2 periods, but the incidence rates were higher during the pandemic. The chronologic correlation between SARS-CoV-2 and STI positivity was negative. Mean age at diagnosis was 29.64 years (95% CI, 19.33-41.14) for chlamydia, 30.86 years (95% CI, 20.24-42.45) for gonorrhea, and 37.04 years (95% CI, 26.01-51.00) for syphilis. The number of men diagnosed with chlamydia increased by 13.85% (95% CI, 6.39-21.08; P = .0003) during the pandemic. Conclusions: We observed a negative correlation between SARS-CoV-2 infections and STIs during the pandemic and an increase in chlamydia cases among men. STI cases rose during 2020-2021, indicating that they remain a significant problem that needs to be addressed in young and adult populations.

This paper investigates non-invasive techniques for annular two-phase flow analysis, focusing on liquid film characterization to understand the interfacial phenomena that are crucial for heat and mass transfer. Limited methods allow the study of the temporal and spatial evolution of liquid film, such as Planar Laser-Induced Fluorescence (PLIF). However, this method possesses optical challenges, leading to the need for improved techniques to mitigate refraction and reflection, such as Refractive Index Matching (RIM). This study utilizes an experimental annular flow facility to analyze both RIM and non-RIM PLIF over a range of liquid Reynolds numbers from 4200 to 10,400. Three configurations—PLIF RIM90, PLIF RIM40, and PLIF nRIM40—are compared from both qualitative and quantitative perspectives. In the quantitative analysis, key variables of the liquid film are measured, namely mean film thickness, disturbance wave height, and frequency. Variations in the analyzed variables indicate minor deviations, which are not likely to be caused by the technique used. However, all three methodologies exhibited errors that are estimated to be within a maximum of 10%, with a mean value of approximately 8%.

The feeling of emotional self-efficacy helps people understand how to handle positive and negative emotions. Emotion regulation is the process that helps people control their emotions so that they can adapt to the demands of the environment. This study has a twofold aim. First, it examines the relationships among emotion regulation, the personality traits of extraversion and emotional stability, and the feeling of emotional self-efficacy for positive and negative emotions in an adolescent population. Second, it examines the mediating role of personality traits (extraversion and emotional stability) in the relationship between emotion regulation and emotional self-efficacy for positive and negative emotions. The participants were 703 adolescents (49.9% male and 50.1% female) aged between 15 and 18 years (M = 15.86, SD = 0.30). Significant relationships were observed among emotion regulation, the personality traits of extraversion and emotional stability, and emotional self-efficacy for positive and negative emotions. The structural equation model confirmed the direct link between emotion regulation and emotional self-efficacy and mediation by the personality traits of extraversion and emotional stability. This study confirms that emotional self-efficacy is connected to the emotion regulation strategies that adolescents use. Effective emotion regulation encourages self-perception and emotional coping. The results are discussed in connection to previous research.

La comedia le hace el juego a la trascendencia de la identidad. Ser consciente de la interpretación dramática es un punto de partida para afirmar el derecho natural a la búsqueda de la felicidad. El trasvase de identidades funciona tanto en el seno de las relaciones tradicionales como en la indeterminación social de la democracia. Este texto plantea la lectura comparada de ciertos aspectos de dos comedias de Molière, El avaro y El enfermo imaginario, y las películas con las que arranca el género de la screwball comedy, La comedia de la vida (20th Century, Howard Hawks) y Sucedió una noche (It Happened One Night, Frank Capra), ambas de 1934. Su punto de partida es un recurso cómico basado en la adopción de una identidad temporal e imaginada por parte del personaje. La liberación psicológica nacida de esa nueva identidad está relacionada con una crisis que puede entenderse en el marco de la comedia de enredo matrimonial estudiada por Stanley Cavell. La conclusión apunta a que el lenguaje de la comedia tradicional facilita la comprensión del potencial subversivo del sujeto moderno y sugiere que los conflictos eróticos, más allá de su contexto socio-histórico, pueden quedar comprendidos por la respuesta imaginativa de los personajes.

The Spanish Guideline on the Management of Asthma, better known by its acronym in Spanish GEMA, has been available for more than 20 years. Twenty-one scientific societies or related groups both from Spain and internationally have participated in the preparation and development of the updated edition of GEMA, which in fact has been currently positioned as the reference guide on asthma in the Spanish language worldwide.Its objective is to prevent and improve the clinical situation of people with asthma by increasing the knowledge of healthcare professionals involved in their care. Its purpose is to convert scientific evidence into simple and easy-to-follow practical recommendations. Therefore, it is not a monograph that brings together all the scientific knowledge about the disease, but rather a brief document with the essentials, designed to be applied quickly in routine clinical practice. The guidelines are necessarily multidisciplinary, developed to be useful and an indispensable tool for physicians of different specialties, as well as nurses and pharmacists.Probably the most outstanding aspects of the guide are the recommendations to: establish the diagnosis of asthma using a sequential algorithm based on objective diagnostic tests; the follow-up of patients, preferably based on the strategy of achieving and maintaining control of the disease; treatment according to the level of severity of asthma, using six steps from least to greatest need of pharmaceutical drugs, and the treatment algorithm for the indication of biologics in patients with severe uncontrolled asthma based on phenotypes. And now, in addition to that, there is a novelty for easy use and follow-up through a computer application based on the chatbot-type conversational artificial intelligence (ia-GEMA). Resumen: La Guía Española para el Manejo del Asma, mejor conocida por su acrónimo en español, GEMA, está a nuestra disposición desde hace más de veinte años. Veintiuna sociedades científicas o grupos relacionados, tanto de España como de otros países, han participado en la preparación y desarrollo de la edición actualizada de GEMA que, de hecho, se ha posicionado en la actualidad a nivel mundial como la guía de referencia sobre asma en lengua española.Su objetivo es prevenir y mejorar la situación clínica de las personas con asma, aumentando el conocimiento de los profesionales sanitarios involucrados en su cuidado. Su propósito es convertir la evidencia científica en recomendaciones prácticas sencillas y fáciles de seguir. Por lo tanto, no se trata de una monografía que reúna todo el conocimiento científico sobre la enfermedad, sino más bien de un documento conciso con lo esencial, diseñado para ser aplicado rápidamente en la práctica clínica de rutina. Las recomendaciones son necesariamente multidisciplinares, están desarrolladas para ser útiles y una herramienta indispensable para médicos de diferentes especialidades, así como para profesionales de enfermería y farmacia.Seguramente, los aspectos más destacados de la guía son las recomendaciones para: establecer el diagnóstico del asma utilizando un algoritmo secuencial basado en pruebas diagnósticas objetivas; el seguimiento de los pacientes, preferentemente basado en la estrategia de lograr y mantener el control de la enfermedad; el tratamiento según el nivel de gravedad del asma utilizando seis escalones, desde la menor hasta la mayor necesidad de medicamentos, y el algoritmo de tratamiento basado en fenotipos para la indicación de biológicos en pacientes con asma grave no controlada. A esto se suma ahora una novedad para su fácil uso y seguimiento a través de una aplicación informática basada en la inteligencia artificial conversacional de tipo chatbot (ia-GEMA).

The use of blockchain has received great attention in its adoption as a financial instrument in cryptocurrencies. This phenomenon needs to be considered in the sense not only as a form of financial transactions but also in other fields such as health, which is also a challenge for modern society. In addition, several government policies have also supported the provision of health services as a form of improving people’s living standards in the form of insurance. In this study, we try to design the system by using UML diagram and simulate the use of DApps offered by the Vexanium Ecosystem. For example, three basic activities between patients, doctors, and insurance will be simulated in the form of the transaction ledger. This method allows us to speed up the authentication process that previously needed to be performed for a long time with bureaucracy becoming the rule in smart contracts in a matter of minutes. The evaluation of this method will then be compared with eight existing blockchain projects. The result in healthcare processes is cost savings through increased automation, speed, standardization, and efficiency. All of this can be a preliminary analysis of its application in Indonesia, particularly related to the authentication and recording of medical records.

Abstract Background Pulmonary hypertension (PH) associated to idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) portends a poor prognosis. IL-11 has been implicated in fibrotic diseases, but their role on pulmonary vessels is unknown. Here we analyzed the contribution of IL-11 to PH in patients with IPF and the potential mechanism implicated. Methods Pulmonary arteries, lung tissue and serum of control subjects (n = 20), IPF (n = 20) and PH associated to IPF (n = 20) were used to study the expression and localization of IL-11 and IL-11Rα. Two models of IL-11 and bleomycin-induced lung fibrosis associated to PH were used in Tie2-GFP transgenic mice to evaluate the contribution of IL-11 and endothelial cells to pulmonary artery remodeling. The effect of IL-11 and soluble IL-11Rα on human pulmonary artery endothelial cells and smooth muscle cell transformations and proliferation were analyzed. Results IL-11 and IL-11Rα were over-expressed in pulmonary arteries and serum of patients with PH associated to IPF vs IPF patients without PH. Recombinant mice (rm)IL-11 induced lung fibrosis and PH in Tie2-GFP mice, activating in vivo EnMT as a contributor of pulmonary artery remodeling and lung fibrosis. Transient transfection of siRNA-IL-11 reduced lung fibrosis and PH in Tie2-GFP bleomycin model. Human (h)rIL-11 and soluble hrIL-11Rα induced endothelial to mesenchymal transition (EnMT) and pulmonary artery smooth muscle cell to myofibroblast-like transformation, cell proliferation and senescence in vitro. Conclusions IL-11 and IL-11Rα are overexpressed in pulmonary arteries of PH associated to IPF patients, and contributes to pulmonary artery remodeling and PH.
