These articles presents an experimental investigation on mechanical, vibration, and wear behavior of (aloevera/flax/hemp/wire mesh/BaSO4) laminated composite. The mechanical characterization was performed with ASTM standard specimens. The free vibration performance was analyzed under two clamping conditions and boundary conditions (clamp-clamp & clamp-free). The wear test trails were accomplished using a pin on disc at different process parameters like sliding speed (3–5 m/s), sliding distance (1000 m) and applied load (10–30 N) under sliding dry environment at room temperature of 28 ± 5◦C. The scanning electron microscopy was used to examine the interaction between the matrix and reinforcement interface after the failure. The experimental results revealed that the addition of wire mesh and BaSO4 filler in the fabricated composite Aleovera+Hemp+Wiremesh+Flax+Aleovera+BaSO4 composite (C4) increased the tensile strength by 8.68% compared to Aleovera+Hemp+Wire mesh+Flax+ Aleovera (C3) composite and it also depicts that the addition of wire mesh and BaSO4 as reinforcement has improved 5.42% of flexural strength compare to Aleovera+Hemp+Flax+Aleovera+BaSO4 composite (C2). The addition of BaSO4 improved the hardness in both C2 and C4 composites. The 5% addition of BaSO4 enhanced the natural frequency of the composites. Among the composites, the C4 has shown the highest coefficient of friction during the experimental trials.

AbstractThe present study examines the vibration characteristics of GFRP sandwich beams incorporated with cellular co-continuous architected periodic gyroidal bio-inspired cores. Using the higher-order shear deformation theory (HSDT), free vibration analysis was performed analytically on the designed sandwich beam. Four distinct configurations of bio-inspired cores are considered and 3D printed using Poly-lactic Acid (PLA) material. Subsequently, alternative dynamic approach (ADA) and ASTM E1876 is used to determine the properties of core and laminate. Amongst various bio-inspired beam configurations, GM02 yield better stiffness and prominent shear modulus for its structural weight proportions and parametric studies were performed for all the core models. Sandwich structures benefited many industries, including aviation, automobile, and naval. The core of the sandwich plays a significant role in structural behavior. This work investigates the free and forced vibration behavior of GFRP corrugated bio-inspired sandwich beams with higher-order shear deformation theory (HSDT). Four different GFRP corrugated bioinspired core configurations are designed, fabricated, and tested using an alternative dynamic method to evaluate the complex shear modulus. The elastic properties of the face sheet for the corrugated bioinspired sandwich beam using the impulse excitation method (ASTM E1876). The user-defined MATLAB code is formulated to analyze the free and forced vibration of the corrugated bioinspired sandwich beam. Among various bioinspired composite sandwich beam configurations, CBIM01 produces the highest stiffness, followed by CBIM02, CBIM03, and CBIM04 because of the strain energy distribution. Pattern arrangement and rectangular strip in the bioinspired composite sandwich beam configurations significantly differ in the natural frequencies. In this study, the vibration analysis of fully and partially treated laminated composite Magnetorheological (MR) fluid sandwich plates has been investigated experimentally. The natural frequencies of fully and partially treated laminated composite MR fluid sandwich plates have been measured at various magnetic field intensities under two different boundary conditions. The variations of natural frequencies with applied magnetic field, boundary conditions and location of MR fluid pocket have been explored. Further, a comparison of natural frequencies of fully and partially treated MR fluid sandwich structure has been made at various magnetic field intensities.

The present study focuses on the numerical modeling of the thermal buckling behavior of tapered laminated composite beams validated by experimentation. Lagrange's energy‐based governing differential expression was derived utilizing classical laminated plate theory and higher‐order shear deformation theory to analyze the tapered composite beam's thermal buckling property. The uniform temperature rise environment is employed to estimate the critical buckling temperature of the tapered laminated composite beam. The obtained results from the numerical approaches were validated with the experimental results and the previous results obtained from the literature associated with the fundamental frequencies of the structure and critical buckling temperature. The parametric study was incorporated in this present work to investigate the influence of the structural parameters and the geometrical parameters like taper angle, ply orientation, aspect ratio, and boundary constraints of the beam. Sandwich structures are used in aircraft, automobiles, and naval industries. The sandwich cores have a substantial impact on their structural behavior. The core design is a significant influencing factor in sandwich structures, and the core selection is even more critical. This study investigates the free and forced vibration analysis of bioinspired sandwich beams. The bioinspired PLA core is 3D printed by fused deposition modeling, and GFRP skin is fabricated using hand layup techniques. The complex shear modulus of the bioinspired core and the elastic modulus of the skin is evaluated using the alternative dynamic method and ASTM E1876, respectively. This study investigates the dynamic properties of the thickness tapered laminated composite plate. The governing differential equations of motion of the various configurations of a thickness tapered composite plate are presented in the finite element formulation using classical laminated plate theory. The validity of the developed finite element formulation is demonstrated by comparing the natural frequencies evaluated using the present finite element method with those derived from the experimental measurements and presented in available literature. Various parametric studies are also performed to investigate the effect of taper configuration, aspect ratio, taper angle and ply orientation on free vibration responses of the structures. The comparison of the free vibration mode shapes of uniform and various tapered configurations of tapered laminated composite plates are also presented. Influences of taper angle on the free vibration fundamental mode shapes under various boundary conditions and various ply configurations are also presented. The forced vibration response of a composite plate is also investigated to study the dynamic response of tapered composite plate under the harmonic force excitation in various tapered configurations.
