A series of novel organogermanium(IV) catecholates 1–9 of the general formula R'2Ge(Cat), where R' = Ph, Et, have been synthesized. Compounds were characterized by 1H, 13C NMR, IR spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. The molecular structures of 1–3, 6, and 8 in crystal state were established using single-crystal X-ray analysis. The complexes are tetracoordinate germanium(IV) compounds containing a dioxolene ligand in a dianion (catecholato) form. Electrochemical transformations of target germanium(IV) complexes have been studied by cyclic voltammetry. The electro-oxidation mechanism of complexes 1–5, 7, and 10 (the related complex Ph2Ge(3,5-Cat) where 3,5-Cat is 3,5-di-tert-butylcatecholate) involves the consecutive formation of mono- and dicationic derivatives containing the oxidized forms of redox-active ligands. The stability of the generated monocations depends both on the hydrocarbon groups at the germanium atom and on the substituents in the catecholate ring. Compounds 6, 8, and 9 are oxidized irreversibly under the electrochemical conditions with the formation of unstable complexes. The radical scavenging activity and antioxidant properties of new complexes were estimated in the reaction with DPPH radical, ABTS radical cation, and CUPRACTEAC assay. It has been found that compounds 8 and 9 with benzothiazole or phenol fragments are more active in DPPH test. The presence of electron-rich moieties in the catecholate ligand makes complexes 5 and 7–9 more reactive to ABTS radical cation. The value of CUPRACTEAC for organogermanium(IV) catecholates varies from 0.23 to 1.45. The effect of compounds 1–9 in the process of lipid peroxidation of rat liver (Wistar) homogenate was determined in vitro. It was found that most compounds are characterized by pronounced antioxidant activity. A feature of complexes 1, 3, and 5–9 is the intensification of the antioxidant action with the incubation time. A new silver(I) cluster [Ag8L4(Py)(Pype)]·4Py·11H2O (I) with 3-benzyl-4-phenyl-1,2,4-triazol-5-thiol (L) was synthesized via the direct reaction of AgNO3 and L in MeOH, followed by recrystallization from a pyridine–piperidine mixture. The compound I was isolated in a monocrystal form and its crystal structure was determined via single crystal X-ray diffraction. The complex forms a "butterfly" cluster with triazol-5-thioles. The purity of the silver complex and its stability in the solution was confirmed via NMR analysis. Excitation and emission of the free ligand and its silver complex were studied at room temperature for solid samples. The in vitro biological activity of the free ligand and its complex was studied in relation to the non-pathogenic Mycolicibacterium smegmatis strain. Complexation of the free ligand with silver increases the biological activity of the former by almost twenty times. For the newly obtained silver cluster, a bactericidal effect was established. A convenient pathway to a new series of α-CF3-substituted α-amino acid derivatives bearing pharmacophore isoquinolone core in their backbone has been developed. The method is based on [4+2]-annulation of N-(pivaloyloxy) aryl amides with orthogonally protected internal acetylene-containing α-amino carboxylates under Rh(III)-catalysis. Six new complexes [Cd(tpy)(pfb)2] (1, tpy = 2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine), [Ln2Cd2(tpy)2(pfb)10] (Ln = Eu (2Eu), Tb (2Tb)), [Ln2Cd2(tbtpy)2(pfb)10]·2MeCN (Ln = Eu (3Eu), Tb (3Tb), tbtpy = 4,4′,4″-tri-tert-butyl-2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine), [Eu2Cd2(tppz)(pfb)10]n (4, tppz = 2,3,5,6-tetra-(pyridin-2-yl)pyrazine) based on pentafluorobenzoic acid (Hpfb) have been prepared and investigated. The effect of tridentate ligands on geometry heterometallic scaffolds synthesized complexes is discussed. The supramolecular crystal structures of the new compounds are stabilized by π-π, C-F···π, C-H···O, C-H...F, F....F interactions. Non-covalent interactions have been studied using Hirschfeld surface analysis. The obtained compounds were characterized by single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction, luminescence spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, CHN analysis. Complexes 2Ln and 3Ln exhibit metal-centered photoluminescence, but the presence of ligand luminescence bands indicates incomplete energy transfer from the d-block to the lanthanide ion. An efficient one-pot synthesis of carborane-containing high-energy compounds was developed via the exploration of carbon–halogen bond functionalization strategies in commercially available 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine. The synthetic pathway first included the substitution of two chlorine atoms in s-triazine with 5-R-tetrazoles (R = H, Me, Et) units to form disubstituted tetrazolyl 1,3,5-triazines followed by the sequential substitution of the remaining chlorine atom in 1,3,5-triazine with carborane N- or S-nucleophiles. All new compounds were characterized by IR- and NMR spectroscopy. The structure of four new compounds was confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The density functional theory method (DFT B3LYP/6-311 + G*) was used to study the geometrical structures, enthalpies of formation (EOFs), energetic properties and highest occupied and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (HOMO and LUMO) energies and the detonation properties of synthesized compounds. The DFT calculation revealed compounds processing the maximum value of the detonation velocity or the maximum value of the detonation pressure. An efficient way to access highly functionalized proline derivatives was developed based on a Cu(I)-catalyzed reaction between CF3-substituted allenynes and tosylazide, which involved a cascade of [3 + 2]-cycloaddition/ketenimine and a rearrangement/Alder-ene cyclization to afford the new proline framework with a high diastereoselectivity. It has been shown that the interaction of tris(triphenylphosphine)ruthenium dichloride RuCl2(PPh3)3 (1) with 10-vertex monocarborane [6-Ph-nido-6-CB9H11]−[Et4N]+ (2) under mild thermolysis conditions is not selective due to the undesired coordination of ruthenium to a phenyl substituent in the carborane and phosphine ligands, giving the series of new classical and non-classical metallacarborane complexes. In contrast, the reaction of 1 and monocarborane [arachno-6-CB9H14]−[Et4N]+ (3) proceeds more selectively with the formation of the only one product, a isocloso-structured metallacarborane. We report here the synthesis of 4‐coordinate Ti imido complexes Ti(=NtBu)(OArtBu)2(py) (2) and Ti(=NtBu)(OArtBu)(Me2Pyr)(py) (3) (ArtBu=O‐2,6‐tBu2‐4‐MeC6H2, Me2Pyr=2,5‐dimethylpyrrolyl) and study their grafting onto the surface of partially dehydroxylated silica with the aim to prepare 4‐coordinate Ti imido aryloxide surface species. Study of the resulting materials with IR, solid‐state NMR, elemental and mass balance analyses demonstrates that grafting of bis‐aryloxide complex 2 leads to a predominant formation of silica‐supported Ti amide (≡SiO)Ti(NHtBu)(OArtBu)2(py) resulting from the protonation of the imido ligand with the surface silanols and only a smaller fraction of the desired imido species (≡SiO)Ti(=NtBu)(OArtBu)(py). The use of the tailored complex 3 where one of the aryloxides is replaced with a more reactive pyrrolyl ligand significantly increases the selectivity of grafting leading to the formation of the Ti imido aryloxide (≡SiO)Ti(=NtBu)(OArtBu)(py) as major surface species. The obtained materials show high activity in catalytic oxo/imido heterometathesis supporting the previously proposed hypothesis that electron‐donating environments are favorable for this transformation. The interaction of the macrocycle (o,o′‐C6F4C6F4Hg)3 (1) containing three mercury centres with arylphosphonium salts ([Ph4P]Cl or [Ph4P]Br) yields halide complexes, [Ph4P]{[(o,o′‐C6F4C6F4Hg)3](η1:η1‐X)} (X=Cl, Br) having infinite polymer chain structure in the crystal. In both adducts, the halide anion is situated outside of the cavity of the three‐mercury anticrown 1 and bridged by two mercury centres of neighbouring anticrown moieties. At the same time, when mercuracycle 1 interacts with tetraalkylammonium salts ([nBu4N]Cl or [nBu4N]Br), then the discrete 1 : 1 complexes [nBu4N]{[(o,o′‐C6F4C6F4Hg)3](η3‐X)} (X=Cl, Br) of completely different structure are formed. In these halide complexes the anion is located inside the cavity of macrocycle 1 and coordinates the three mercury atoms symmetrically. The synthesized halide complexes [nBu4N]{[(o,o′‐C6F4C6F4Hg)3](η3‐X)} (X=Cl, Br) are the first example of complexes of the macrocycle 1 where it behaves as anticrown. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

An efficient strategy for the preparation of a novel series of benzothiadiazole‐containing isoquinoline‐bridged D‐A compounds based on Cp*Rh(III)‐catalyzed redox‐neutral annulation of N‐(pivaloyloxy)‐benzamides with 4‐ethynyl‐7‐(p‐methoxyphenyl)‐2,1,3‐benzothiadiazole as a key step followed by the installation of donor units, such as diphenylamine, carbazole, and dihydrodibenzoazepine, by aromatization and Suzuki coupling reactions, has been developed. Heterometallic {Eu2Cd2} complexes [Eu2(NO3)2Cd2(Phen)2(2,4-Nbz)8]n·2nMeCN (I) and [Eu2(MeCN)2Cd2(Phen)2(3,5-Nbz)10] (II) with the 2,4-dinitrobenzoate (2,4-Nbz) and 3,5-dinitrobenzoate (3,5-Nbz) anions and 1,10-phenanthroline were synthesized. The compounds obtained were characterized by X-ray single-crystal analysis, powder X-ray diffraction analysis, IR spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. Moreover, the thermal stability of the complexes was also studied. Analysis of the crystal packing showed that where 1,10-phenanthroline is combined with various isomers of dinitrobenzoate anions, different arrangements of non-covalent interactions are observed in the complex structures. In the case of the compound with the 2,4-dinitrobenzoate anion, these interactions lead to a significant distortion of the metal core geometry and formation of a polymeric structure, while the complex with the 3,5-dinitrobenzoate anion has a structure that is typical of similar systems. The absence of europium metal-centered luminescence at 270 nm wavelength was shown. The synthesis of a short series of three stable 16-electron exo-nido-osmacarborane complexes is described. The dianionic [[nido-7-R-7, 9-[C.sub.2][B.sub.9][H.sub.10].sup.2-] cage ligand is bound to the Os(IV) containing moiety via the bidentate {B...H}...Os bonding interaction in each of these three complexes.
