Abstract

The singular parametric oscillators obtained from the one-parameter Darboux deformation/transformation effected upon the classical harmonic oscillator are introduced and discussed in some detail using sin(omega_0 t) and cos(omega_0 t) as seed solutions. The corresponding Ermakov-Lewis integrability problem of these parametric oscillators is also studied. However, insidious onset of localized calf pain is an uncommon presentation of embolization and may represent a diagnostic challenge owing to the nonspecific nature of the symptoms. This study reviewed the literature and reports a case of infective endocarditis in a patient who presented with bilateral calf pain as the primary complaint and reason for seeking medical attention. 28. Remote Control Laboratory Using EJS Applets and TwinCAT Programmable Logic Controllers

Abstract

This paper presents a new methodology to develop remote laboratories for systems engineering and automation control courses, based on the combined use of TwinCAT, a laboratory Java server application, and Easy Java Simulations (EJS). The TwinCAT system is used to close the control loop for the selected plants by means of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) deployed in PCs with the TwinCAT run-time tool. EJS is used to develop the laboratory front-end applets that let teachers and students parametrize and observe the behavior of the PLCs from any computer. The laboratory Java server application establishes the connection between the EJS applets and the PLCs, fulfilling the TwinCAT connection requirements while ensuring an individualized access to each PLC. This paper also shows how the practical work in some undergraduate control courses at the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain, already uses the TwinCAT PLC + Java server + EJS applet strategy to provide real-time support to the controllers, remote individualized access to the experiments, and a user-friendly graphic controller interface for the students.

Abstract

Survival in multiple myeloma has improved significantly in recent years, especially in young patients. We reviewed the evolution of the survival of patients with MM in three groups based on age at MM diagnosis over three time periods between 1999 and 2020 at our 12 de Octubre Hospital institution (H12O). Then, to confirm our results, we used data from TriNetx, a global health research platform that includes patients from Europe to US. Finally, we analysed differences in the patterns of treatment between networks across the world. Kaplan‒Meier analysis was used to estimate survival probabilities, and between-group differences were tested using the log-rank test and hazard ratio. For patients from H12O, the median OS was 35.61, 55.59 and 68.67 months for the 1999–2009, 2010–2014 and 2015–2020 cohorts, respectively (p = 0.0001). Among all patients included in the EMEA network, the median OS was 20.32 months versus 34.75 months from 1999–2009 versus 2010–2014. The median OS from the 2010–2014 versus 2015–2020 time cohorts was 34.75 months versus 54.43 months, respectively. In relation to the US cohort, the median OS from before 2010 versus 2010–2014 was not reached in either time cohort and neither when comparing the 2010–2014 versus 2015–2019 time cohorts. Bortezomib is the most commonly used drug in the EMEA cohort, while lenalidomide is the most commonly used drug in the US cohort. This large-scale study based on real-world data confirms the previous finding that MM patients have increased their survival in the last two decades. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The thermal behaviour, mineralogy, texture and micro-structure of the original rocks used as raw materials in the manufacture of ceramics of the potter community in Fran Ali (Oued Laou, Tetouan, Morocco) were studied. The original rocks of the alteration deposit are metapelites and altered philites from the Units Malaguide-Gomáride in the Baetic-Rifian mountain system. The techniques used by local potters and the water used to prepare the ceramic bodies were also studied. Original rocks are metapelites or filadios and raw materials belong to levels caused by exogenous or supergene alteration (quartz-illite and chlorite type clays). The ceramics studied by microscopy exhibit anisotropy.Se ha estudiado el comportamiento térmico, la mineralogía, la textura y la microestructura de las materias primas empleadas en la elaboración de las cerámicas de la comunidad alfarera de Fran Ali (Oued Laou, Tetuán, Marruecos). Las rocas originarias de los distintos afloramientos proceden de Unidades Malaguide-Gomárides de la cadena alpina Bético-Rifeña también se estudiaron. Se detalla la técnica empleada por los ceramistas de esta zona para la elaboración de las piezas. Se analizó el agua empleada para la preparación de la pasta. Las rocas originarias son metapelitas o filadios y las materias primas pertenecen a niveles originados por alteración supergénica o exógena (arcillas de tipo cuarzo-illiticas y cloríticas). Las cerámicas estudiadas al microscopio presentan anisotropía.
