Purpose or Objective: The aim of this study was to explore the potential relationship between the time estimation and psychological distress in patients with solid tumors prior to starting radiotherapy. Materials and Methods: In this multicenter study were included a total of 344 patients with solid tumors (197 with and 147 without metastatic disease). The time estimation was assessed by evaluating each subjects prospective estimation of how fast 1 min passed compared to the actual time. The median value (35sec) of subjective perception of time was used to group cases into two categories for experience of time. We used the National Comprehensive Cancer Network Distress Thermometer at the beginning of treatment to determine the levels of distress, where it measures distress on a scale from 0 to 10. Patients scoring 4 or above (73.5 %) were regarded as having high levels of distress. Results: The time estimation distributions significantly changed according to the level of distress. ROC analysis revealed that at the optimal cut off value of time estimation, patients with low and high distress levels can be discriminated with an AUC = 0.80 (95 % CI: 0.75– 0.85, p

During the last 12 years using the GABRIELA (Gamma Alpha Beta Recoil Invetsigations with the ELectromagnetic Analyser) detector set up and kinematic recoil separators VASSILISSA / SHELS the experiments aimed to the gamma and electron spectroscopy of the Fm-Db isotopes, formed at the complete fusion reactions48Ca +207,208Pb--255,256 No* ,48Ca +209Bi--257Lr* ,22Ne+238U--260No*,50Ti +208Pb--258Rf* and50Ti +209Bi--259Db* , were performed at FLNR JINR.

Excited states in the mirror nuclei 31P and 31S were populated in the 1p and 1n exit channels of the reaction 20Ne + 12C, at a beam energy of 33 MeV. The 20Ne beam was delivered for the first time by the Piave-Alpi accelerator of the Laboratori Nazionali di Legnaro. Angular correlations of coincident γ-rays and Doppler-shift attenuation lifetime measurements were performed using the multi-detector array GASP in conjunction with the EUCLIDES charged particle detector. In the observed B(E1) strengths, the isoscalar component, amounting to 24% of the isovector one, provides strong evidence for breaking of the isospin symmetry in the A=31 mass region. Self-consistent beyond mean field calculations using Equation of Motion method based on a chiral potential and including two- and three-body forces reproduce well the experimental B(E1) strengths, reinforcing our conclusion. Coherent mixing from higher-lying states involving the Giant Isovector Monopole Resonance accounts well for the effect observed. The breaking of the isospin symmetry originates from the violation of the charge symmetry of the two- and three-body parts of the potential, only related to the Coulomb interaction.

By means of the (p, t) reaction we studied the excitation spectra of 0+ states in the deformed nuclei 228Th, 230Th, and 232U, using the Q3D magnetic spectrograph facility at the Munich tandem accelerator. At small reaction angles the 0+ transfer angular distributions have steeply rising cross sections which allow identifying these states in otherwise very complicated and dense spectra. For each of these nuclei we resolve typically about ten excited states with safe 0+ assignments. The studied excitation energies range up to 2.5, 2.7, and 2.3 MeV, respectively. The results are compared with IBA calculations in the spdf-boson space. This highly schematic collective model description, including octupole collectivity, but neglecting other relevant degrees of freedom, gives numbers of excited 0+ states in these actinide nuclei that are rather close to the observed ones. Sequences of states are selected which can be treated as rotational bands. Inertial parameters are obtained at fitting energies of these bands and they are discussed in connection with the IBM calculations.
