This study developed a simple, rapid, reproducible, and analytical method using liquid chromatography and electrospray ionization (ESI) with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) to simultaneously quantify pentoxifylline (PTX), its pharmacological active metabolites, lisofylline (PTX-M1) and 1-(3-carboxypropyl)-3,7-dimethylxanthine (PTX-M5), and donepezil (DNP) in rat plasma, using PTX-d6 and DNP-d7 as the internal standards. The LC-MS/MS procedure was performed at the ESI interface, operating in positive ionization and multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) modes; the monitoring of transitions comprised m/z 279.3 > 181.1 for PTX, m/z 281.1 > 263.1 > 160.90 for PTX-M1, m/z 267.1 > 249.0 > 220.9 for PTX-M5, m/z 380.3 > 90.9 for DNP, m/z 285.3 > 187.1 for PTX-d6 (IS1), and m/z 387.3 > 98.3 for DNP-d7 (IS2). After plasma protein precipitation (PP) with methanol, chromatographic separation was performed with an Imtakt Cadenza® CD-C18 (100 × 3 mm, 3 µm) column, using an isocratic mobile phase consisting of 0.1% formic acid in water and methanol (20:80, v/v) at a flow rate of 0.2 mL/min. The retention times of DNP, PTX-M5, PTX, and PTX-M1 were 2.24, 2.50, 2.68, and 2.72 min, respectively, with a total run time of 5 min. This method was validated over a linear concentration range of 5–8000, 10–5000, 20–15,000, and 2–500 ng mL−1 for PTX, PTX-M1, PTX-M5, and DNP, respectively, with a high correlation coefficient (r2 ≥ 0.99). The established method was fully validated in terms of selectivity, the lower limit of quantitation, precision, accuracy, recovery, matrix effect, stability, and dilution integrity according to the regulatory guidelines from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Korea Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. This study examines inservice elementary school teachers' beliefs, attitudes, and practical knowledge toward inquiry-based science instruction and the influence of an inquiry-based elementary science course on teachers' beliefs, attitudes, and practical knowledge regarding inquiry. Both surveys and a case study were administered to the 14 elementary school teachers before and after completing a three-credit elementary science methods course that was inquiry-based. The findings showed that the teachers' beliefs, attitudes, and practical knowledge about inquiry were clearly influenced by the course. Through this course, the teachers developed fairly positive beliefs and attitudes that promoted inquiry instruction. The majority of participants also improved their knowledge and skills of conducting inquiry as they successfully practiced inquiry-instruction in their science teachings. The purpose of this study was to develop a method for simultaneously separating ibuprofen enantiomers using electrospray ionization (ESI) liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS). LC–MS/MS was operated with negative ionization and multiple reaction monitoring modes; transitions were monitored at m/z of 205.1 > 160.9 for ibuprofen enantiomers, 208.1 > 163.9 for (S)-(+)-ibuprofen-d3 [internal standard 1 (IS1)], and 253.1 > 208.9 for (S)-(+)-ketoprofen (IS2), respectively. In a one-step liquid–liquid extraction, 10 μL plasma was extracted with ethyl acetate:methyl tertiary-butyl ether of 7:3. Enantiomer chromatographic separation was carried out with an isocratic mobile phase consisting of 0.008% formic acid in water–methanol (v/v) at a flow rate of 0.4 mL/min on a CHIRALCEL® OJ-3R column (150 × 4.6 mm, 3 µm). This method was fully validated for each enantiomer and results were in compliance with the regulatory guidelines of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Korea Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. This study aimed to establish a simple and sensitive analytical method to simultaneously quantify donepezil (DPZ) and tadalafil (TAD) in rat plasma using lansoprazole (LPZ) as an internal standard (IS) by using liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry. The fragmentation pattern of DPZ, TAD, and IS was elucidated using multiple reaction monitoring in electrospray ionization positive ion mode for the quantification of precursor to production at m/z 380.1 → 91.2 for DPZ, m/z 390.2 → 268.1 for TAD, and m/z 370.3 → 252.0 for LPZ. The extracted DPZ and TAD from plasma using acetonitrile-induced protein precipitation was separated using Kinetex C18 (100 × 2.1 mm, 2.6 µm) column with a gradient mobile phase system consisting of 2 mM ammonium acetate and 0.1% formic acid in acetonitrile at a flow rate of 0.25 mL/min for 4 min. The selectivity, lower limit of quantification, linearity, precision, accuracy, stability, recovery, and matrix effect of this developed method was validated according to the guidelines of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety of Korea. The established method achieved acceptance criteria in all validation parameters, ensuring reliability, reproducibility, and accuracy, and was successfully implemented in a pharmacokinetic study on the co-administration of DPZ and TAD orally in rats. A bibliometric analysis of author keywords in articles from nine Korean theological journals published from 2000 to 2008 found 10 clusters that represent the intellectual structure of Korean theology. Three main streams of Korean theology studies were identified: Reformed theology, general theology, and evangelicalism. The intellectual structures of the representative journal for each stream were examined in depth. To visualize these intellectual structures, we used co-word analysis and a Pathfinder network (PFnet) algorithm. The Pathfinder network was constructed by two approaches: first-order cosine coefficients and second-order correlation coefficients. Semantic review of the results suggests that second-order correlation coefficients more effectively present the intellectual structure of a domain by PFnet. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

A sensitive and reproducible liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) system was developed and fully validated for the simultaneous determination of ephedrine and pseudoephedrine in human plasma after oral administration of the herbal prescription Ojeok-san (OJS); 2-phenylethylamine was used as the internal standard (IS). Both compounds presented a linear calibration curve (r2 ≥ 0.99) over a concentration range of 0.2–50 ng/mL. The developed method was fully validated in terms of selectivity, lower limit of quantitation, precision, accuracy, recovery, matrix effect, and stability, according to the regulatory guidelines from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Korea Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.
