The summer monsoon onset over the Bay of Bengal and South China Sea signals the beginning of the Asian summer monsoon, critical for local fisheries, agriculture and livelihoods, so communities are concerned about its potential changes under global warming. Previous projections have suggested a delay, but the extent of this delay remains uncertain, undermining the reliability of the projections. Here, we show a significant correlation between the projected shift in Bay of Bengal/South China Sea monsoon onset and present‐day sea surface temperature (SST) simulation over the western Pacific (WP). This emergent relationship arises from the spread of the precipitation response over the western‐central Pacific to WP SST, as more precipitation induces stronger tropical upper‐tropospheric warming, increasing westerly vertical shear near South Asia, and facilitating the onset delay. The rectified projections indicate that the delayed shift is almost halved compared to raw projections, and the intermodel uncertainty is reduced by 30%. Plain Language Summary: The summer monsoon onset over the Bay of Bengal and South China Sea is a crucial time for fishing, agriculture and livelihood, and is important for the further advance of the monsoon rains over tropical Asia. Previous studies have suggested that monsoon onset in these seas will be delayed in the future, but there is large uncertainty between models, undermining the reliability of the projection. This study finds that the projected shift in the onset is strongly related to a model's representation of sea surface temperatures over the western Pacific Ocean in the present day. Based on the relationship found in observations, we adjust or "constrain" the future projections of the monsoon onset. The delay to the monsoon onset using this adjustment is almost half of the original projection, and the uncertainty between models is also reduced. We suggest that a more accurate simulation of sea‐surface temperatures in the present‐day climate of the western Pacific Ocean is crucial for reliable future projections of the monsoon onset. Sodium-based batteries have attracted significant attention due to their abundant resources and low cost. Sodium-metal batteries exhibit higher energy density. However, the performance of sodium metal anodes is constrained by the inevitable corrosion of organic electrolytes and uncontrolled growth of Na dendrites. Here, a NaF solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) is fabricated on the surface of sodium metal using a facile and straightforward gas–solid reaction between evaporated organic acid salt and sodium metal, to alleviate the reactivity of the sodium metal surface and prevent corrosion induced by organic electrolytes. DFT calculation verifies that the NaF artificial SEI reduces the de-solvation energy of Na+ and has a strong binding force with FEC to rapidly provide sources of Na+ and accelerate the reactions of the formation of the NaF-rich SEI layer. As a result, the side reactions from EC and DEC are limited, and the surficial Na2CO3 is dramatically decreased. It is verified that the synergistic effect of the NaF artificial SEI and FEC significantly improved the cycle life of the Na metal anode. By employing an electrolyte with FEC, symmetrical cells utilizing NaF@Na anodes demonstrate a remarkable cycling duration of 1500 h at a current density of 0.5 mA cm−2 and a capacity limit of 0.5 mA h cm−2. Highlights: "Zero-strain" NiNb2O6 fibers with nanosized primary particles are explored as an all-climate anode material with comprehensively good Li+-storage properties. The almost completely opposite volume changes of electrochemical inactive NiO6 octahedra and active NbO6 octahedra are achieved through reversible O movement, leading to the "zero-strain" behavior of NiNb2O6 with minor unit-cell-volume change and excellent cyclability in a broad temperature range. The gained insight can provide guide for the exploration of high-performance energy-storage materials working at harsh temperatures. Niobates are promising all-climate Li+-storage anode material due to their fast charge transport, large specific capacities, and resistance to electrolyte reaction. However, their moderate unit-cell-volume expansion (generally 5%–10%) during Li+ storage causes unsatisfactory long-term cyclability. Here, "zero-strain" NiNb2O6 fibers are explored as a new anode material with comprehensively good electrochemical properties. During Li+ storage, the expansion of electrochemical inactive NiO6 octahedra almost fully offsets the shrinkage of active NbO6 octahedra through reversible O movement. Such superior volume-accommodation capability of the NiO6 layers guarantees the "zero-strain" behavior of NiNb2O6 in a broad temperature range (0.53%//0.51%//0.74% at 25// − 10//60 °C), leading to the excellent cyclability of the NiNb2O6 fibers (92.8%//99.2% // 91.1% capacity retention after 1000//2000//1000 cycles at 10C and 25// − 10//60 °C). This NiNb2O6 material further exhibits a large reversible capacity (300//184//318 mAh g−1 at 0.1C and 25// − 10//60 °C) and outstanding rate performance (10 to 0.5C capacity percentage of 64.3%//50.0%//65.4% at 25// − 10//60 °C). Background Methods Results Conclusion Currently, the conclusions of studies on subthalamic nucleus (STN) deep brain stimulation (DBS) for improving Parkinson's disease (PD) with depression are inconsistent, and the reasons for improvement or deterioration remain unclear.The aim was to investigate the prognosis of PD with depression after bilateral STN‐DBS and the factors related to the improvement in depression. The local and network effects of DBS on depression in PD (DPD) were further explored based on the volume of tissue activation (VTA). The study analyzed 80 primary PD patients who had undergone bilateral STN‐DBS, comprising 47 patients with improved depression and 33 patients without improvement. Two groups of clinical profiles and stimulation parameters were compared, and the network models for improving depression were constructed.The improvement in depression was closely associated with improvement in anxiety (odd rate [OR] = 1.067, P = 0.006) and the standardized space left y‐coordinate (OR = 0.253, P = 0.005). The VTA overlapping with the left motor STN subregion is most significantly associated with improvement in depression (RSpearman = 0.53, P < 0.001; RPearson = 0.43, P < 0.001). The y‐coordinates in the improvement group were closer to the optimal stimulation site for improving motor symptoms. Finally, both the structural and functional network models indicate a positive correlation between depression improvement and the connectivity of the sensorimotor cortex.The amelioration of DPD is primarily attributed to the stimulation of bilateral motor STN, particularly on the left. The performance of lithium-ion batteries is greatly influenced by various factors within their operating environment, which can significantly impact their overall efficiency and effectiveness. In this paper, a multi-physics field electrochemical thermal model is established to measure the physical parameters of a battery module during the charge/discharge process. The effects of working temperature, current rate, and convective heat transfer coefficient are investigated by establishing an electrochemical and thermal model. The results are obtained by conducting numerous parameterized scans to analyze the system's state across various operating conditions, enabling the determination of its temperature and the selection of appropriate cooling measures accordingly. Based on the internal and external conditions of battery operation, parameter selection corresponding to the operating range is divided into several stages, with thermal management strategies provided for each stage. The existing framework facilitates the design of battery packs equipped with efficient thermal management strategies, thereby enhancing the battery systems' reliability and performance. Background: In advanced Parkinson's disease (PD), axial symptoms are common and can be debilitating. Although deep brain stimulation (DBS) significantly improves motor symptoms, conventional high-frequency stimulation (HFS) has limited effectiveness in improving axial symptoms. In this study, we investigated the effects on multiple axial symptoms after DBS surgery with three different frequency programming paradigms comprising HFS, low-frequency stimulation (LFS), and variable-frequency stimulation (VFS). Methods: This study involved PD patients who had significant preoperative axial symptoms and underwent bilateral subthalamic nucleus (STN) DBS. Axial symptoms, motor symptoms, medications, and quality of life were evaluated preoperatively (baseline). One month after surgery, HFS was applied. At 6 months post-surgery, HFS assessments were performed, and HFS was switched to LFS. A further month later, we conducted LFS assessments and switched LFS to VFS. At 8 months after surgery, VFS assessments were performed. Results: Of the 21 PD patients initially enrolled, 16 patients were ultimately included in this study. Regarding HFS, all axial symptoms except for the Berg Balance Scale (p < 0.0001) did not improve compared with the baseline (all p > 0.05). As for LFS and VFS, all axial symptoms improved significantly compared with both the baseline and HFS (all p < 0.05). Moreover, motor symptoms and medications were significantly better than the baseline (all p < 0.05) after using LFS and VFS. Additionally, the quality of life of the PD patients after receiving LFS and VFS was significantly better than at the baseline and with HFS (all p < 0.0001). Conclusion: Our findings indicate that HFS is ineffective at improving the majority of axial symptoms in advanced PD. Diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) are one of the most common and challenging complications of diabetes, yet our understanding of their pathogenesis remains limited. We collected gene expression data of DFU patients from public databases. Bioinformatics tools were applied for systematic analysis, including the identification of differentially expressed genes (DEGs), weighted gene co‐expression network analysis (WGCNA) and enrichment analysis. We further used single‐cell RNA sequencing to identify the distribution of different cell populations in DFU. Finally, key results were validated using reverse transcription‐quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT‐qPCR) and flow cytometry. We identified 217 DEGs between ulcerated and healthy skin, and 37 DEGs between healing ulcers and ulcers. WGCNA revealed that the cyan module had the highest positive correlation with healthy skin and negative correlation with ulcers. The black module had the highest negative correlation with healthy skin and positive correlation with ulcers. Enrichment analysis showed that the genes in the cyan module were mainly associated with complement and coagulation cascades, while the genes in the black module were mainly associated with the IL‐17 signalling pathway. In addition, CD8 T cells were significantly lower in ulcers than in healthy and healing ulcers. By comparing marker genes of CD8 T cells, we identified key genes in the cyan and black modules and validated their expression using RT‐qPCR. The proportion of CD8 T cells was increased in healing ulcers. Flow cytometry detected increased levels of CD8 T, B and natural killer cells in healing ulcers. CD8 T cells and related key genes play an important role in the healing process of DFU. The results of this study provide a new perspective for understanding the pathogenesis and treatment of DFU. Exposure to addictive substances impairs flexible decision making. Cognitive flexibility is mediated by striatal cholinergic interneurons (CINs). However, how chronic alcohol drinking alters cognitive flexibility through CINs remains unclear. Here, we report that chronic alcohol consumption and withdrawal impaired reversal of instrumental learning. Chronic alcohol consumption and withdrawal also caused a long-lasting (21 days) reduction of excitatory thalamic inputs onto CINs and reduced pause responses of CINs in the dorsomedial striatum (DMS). CINs are known to inhibit glutamatergic transmission in dopamine D1 receptor-expressing medium spiny neurons (D1-MSNs) but facilitate this transmission in D2-MSNs, which may contribute to flexible behavior. We discovered that chronic alcohol drinking impaired CIN-mediated inhibition in D1-MSNs and facilitation in D2-MSNs. Importantly, in vivo optogenetic induction of long-term potentiation of thalamostriatal transmission in DMS CINs rescued alcohol-induced reversal learning deficits. These results demonstrate that chronic alcohol drinking reduces thalamic excitation of DMS CINs, compromising their regulation of glutamatergic transmission in MSNs, which may contribute to alcohol-induced impairment of cognitive flexibility. The onset of the summer monsoon associated with global warming is of great concern to the scientific community. While observational data diagnosis has shown the impact of intraseasonal oscillation (ISO) on the monsoon onset, how the ISO may affect the onset of monsoon under global warming remains unknown. Here, by analyzing the onset of the summer monsoon over the South Asian marginal seas projected by models in phase 6 of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP6) under the SSP5–8.5 scenario, we show evidence that the majority of models (>70%) project an earlier onset over the Arabian Sea (ArS) but a delayed onset over the Bay of Bengal (BoB) and the South China Sea (SCS). The temporal shifts of the monsoon onset are attributed to the changes in the premonsoon northward migration of equatorial ISO (NMISO), which is a trigger of monsoon onset and will be advanced (postponed) over the ArS (BoB and SCS). The subtropical upper-level westerly anomaly, inducing delayed occurrence of easterly shear, acts to delay the NMISO over the entire Indian Ocean. However, the intensified low-level southerly wind over the ArS, as well as its induced asymmetric pattern of boundary layer moisture work together to advance the premonsoon NMISO in the area, outweighing the delayed impact from vertical shear. These large-scale circulation changes are driven by tropical warming in the upper troposphere, land warming over the Arabian Peninsula, and ocean warming over the eastern Pacific. Defect and interface engineering, which can facilitate exceptional electrochemical stability and activity, are some of the most important strategies in devising electrode materials. However, the complex nanoscale chemistry and structure characteristics make the origin of electrochemical mechanism extremely difficult to understand. To eliminate this issue, the delicately designed 1D tungsten bronze superstructure anode, guided by defect and interface engineering, is successfully prepared for sodium storage to gain insight into the endogenous structure‐property relationships. It can realize the intensely enhanced Na+‐storage performance with a safe operating potential of ≈0.5 V, a high specific capacity of 228 mAh g−1 at 0.1 C and superior rate performance, which is attributed to the rapid electron and ion transfer process induced by abundant heterointerfaces. More importantly, it can convey an ultra‐stable long‐term cycling performance, with the capacity retention close to 90% after 4500 cycles at 5 C and 10000 cycles at 10 C, which can be explained by the inherently zero‐strain characteristic of a novel vacancy‐ordered superstructure in tungsten bronze Ba3.4Nb10O28.4 (BNO). Ultra‐long‐life (at least 10 000 cycles) lithium‐ion batteries are very effective for stationary energy‐storage applications. However, even "zero‐strain" materials with small unit‐cell‐volume changes of <1% cannot last for ultra‐long cycles due to gradually accumulated intracrystal strain/stress. Here, Li[Li0.2Cr0.4Ti1.4]O4 is explored as the first absolutely‐zero‐expansion material with unit‐cell‐volume variations of zero during Li+ storage. Its absolutely‐zero‐expansion mechanism is intensively studied, revealing that 16c‐octahedron shrinkage fully offsets 16d‐octahedron expansion through reversible O2− movement. It delivers better cycling stability than, as far as we know, all electrochemical energy‐storage materials previously reported. Its capacity retention at 10 C and 1.0 mg cm−2 after 17 000 cycles reaches 91.5%. When the active‐material loading significantly increases to 6.4 mg cm−2, its capacity retention at 5 C after 500 cycles reaches 95.7%. At an elevated temperature of 45 °C, it not only keeps excellent cycling stability but also exhibits significantly enhanced rate capability. West China experienced an extremely wet autumn in 2017, and the amount of September–October precipitation is the greatest during 1961–2018. This study explored the physical processes responsible for two primary intraseasonal precipitation events which contribute greatly to such an extremely wet season. The first event peaking in early September is induced by the southward movement of a frontal system from the northern China, which is attributed to the southward displacement of an intraseasonal anticyclonic anomaly. The northerly anomaly associated with the anticyclone advects cold air into West China and thus triggers frontal precipitation. The second event peaking in early October is related to the northward shift and intensification of an intraseasonal anticyclonic anomaly centred over the northwestern Pacific Ocean. The southerly anomaly along the western flank of the anticyclone transports moisture to West China and thus triggers precipitation. The different initiation processes for the two precipitation events may be due to the distinct dynamical and thermal‐dynamical conditions in September and October. The error of precise initiation time controlled at the microsecond level in the electronic detonator blasting is accurate enough to realize blasting vibration reduction; however, the realization of precise control of blasting vibration using the electronic detonators remains rudimentary, researches on the precise zoning protection of buildings and field experiments are lacked. Therefore, multi-delay time of double-hole and multi-hole blasting experiments were carried out to explore the influence of different delay time on blast-induced PPV (Peak Particle Velocity). Based on the measured blasting vibration waveforms with blasting center distance of 16–200 m the reasonable delay time reducing PPV was investigated when the protective buildings at different blasting center distances and the reasonable delay time suitable for zoning protection was put forward to verify the applicability of the electronic detonators. The results show that as the initiation delay time increases, the PPV of blasting vibration first decreases then increases and finally attenuates to the single-hole PPV, with the increase of the blasting center distance, the reasonable delay time for reducing PPV gradually increases. However, a greater vibration enhancement effect will be produced when the delay time reaches at a certain value in the near area, the generated maximum PPV is about 1.8 times the single-hole PPV and there will be multiple short delay time producing enhancement effect in multi-hole blasting, the short delay time cannot be blindly adopted to reduce vibration. Therefore, the delay time of electronic detonators should be reasonably set to achieve the effect of blasting vibration reduction based on the distance between the protected buildings and the blasting zone. A stable solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) layer is crucial for lithium metal anode (LMA) to survive in long‐term cycling. However, chaotic structures and chemical inhomogeneity of natural SEI make LMA suffering from exasperating dendrite growth and severe electrode pulverization, which hinder the practical application of LMAs. Here, we design a catalyst‐derived artificial SEI layer with an ordered polyamide‐lithium hydroxide (PA‐LiOH) bi‐phase structure to modulate ion transport and enable dendrite‐free Li deposition. The PA‐LiOH layer can substantially suppress the volume changes of LMA during Li plating/stripping cycles, as well as alleviate the parasitic reactions between LMA and electrolyte. The optimized LMAs demonstrate excellent stability in Li plating/stripping cycles for over 1000 hours at an ultra‐high current density of 20 mA cm−2 in Li||Li symmetric cells. A high coulombic efficiency up to 99.2 % in Li half cells in additive‐free electrolytes is achieved even after 500 cycles at a current density of 1 mA cm−2 with a capacity of 1 mAh cm−2.
