Purpose of the study: to consider and implement in practice a system for displaying content on screens of different resolutions and orientations in relation to an educational institution, using both a pure Smart TV (built-in browser of modern TV) and a player connected to Digital Signage screens. In system engineering, the main emphasis (and, as a result, the key task) is on the absence of duplication of content for different types of output screens (including interactive touchscreen kiosks), which is especially important because the implemented system will be built on free, open-source technologies and integrated into the current university website, which no other proprietary Digital Signage software system can offer.Materials and methods: the study uses different methods of transformation and output of content, but adaptation methods based on cascading style sheets (CSS) are mainly used. The experience of foreign programmers working with adaptive layouts for the web and operating their own blogs was studied (in the “Reference” section). Compromise methods for displaying graphic images and video materials are considered and proposed based on the experience gained during testing of the prototype system.Results: development of a system for displaying content on multi-format screens, requiring minimal subsequent support and intervention from the administrator responsible for filling it with content. An analysis of some potential solutions and their compatibility was carried out, taking into account browser support for CSS3 and HTML5 standards, and working solutions were selected that can be used in the design of individual templates for displaying content in hypertext format and CSS designs (rules) that work for the purpose of the study. The article compares approaches to designing adaptive templates for displaying web content in HTML (hypertext) format. The basic principles are considered under which content intended primarily for a university website can, without a third-party administrator (and also, in some cases, with minimal intervention) be displayed on corporate TV and touchscreen kiosks of universities thanks to the use of cascading style sheets (CSS) and relative units of measurement (vh, vw, vmin, vmax) and tags introduced in HTML5. The article also discusses how to level out the nuances associated with different resolutions of graphic images and screen orientation.Conclusion: the final paragraphs of the article conclude on the nuances of the functioning of the developed system, the effectiveness of which directly depends on methods of implementation and technologies used, chosen and discussed in the article. The implementation of the system will increase the awareness of students of an educational institution about events (announced or conducted), and will allow the system administrator to increase work efficiency by publishing and administering content only in “one window” (for example, on the university website), and the developed output template and/or CSS rules will display it on the internal screens, maintaining readability and perception of information. The developed and tested methods can be used by programmers, working in educational institutions.

The enclosed space environment demands sustainable environmental control systems. Space stations and interstellar missions, both need reliable environmental control and life support systems for crewed flights and long-term habitation. These long-duration space missions require monitoring for potential pathogens and microbial contamination, which is crucial for astronaut health and the reliable operation of space equipment. To meet this critical need, the China Space Station (CSS) is equipped with the Microbial Online Monitoring Module (MOMM), which integrates two methods for microbial detection, the first method involves cultivating microorganisms in culture dishes for observation, while the second method uses isothermal nucleic acid amplification and detection technology based on Loop-mediated Isothermal Amplification(LAMP). This equipment is applied in the microgravity environment of the space station to achieve rapid detection of microbial species and abundance in orbit. Hardware function validation tests and validation experiments of the sensitivity and shelf life of the reagents were conducted on the ground, and several full-process microbial detection experiments were carried out to ensure the function and feasibility of the MOMM. Subsequently, an experimental process of microbial cultivation and observation was successfully carried out on the CSS using air samples from the space station. In modern agriculture, the threat of fire poses significant economic and environmental risks. Additionally, traditional fire detection methods are inadequate and poorly integrated with advanced technologies. It is crucial to develop a more efficient and reliable fire detection system. Also, the lack of real-time and accurate monitoring in current systems compromises the resilience and sustainability of farming operations. This article details developing and implementing a real-time fire detection system tailored for smart agriculture. It integrates cutting-edge technologies, including the Internet of Things (IoT), embedded systems, and a Flask-based web application, fortified by cybersecurity measures such as login authentication and secure HTTP protocols. The system's primary aim is to monitor environmental conditions continuously in agricultural fields to detect signs of smoke or flame swiftly, facilitating preventive actions to safeguard crops and infrastructure. The architecture employs sensors distributed across fields to monitor conditions, a Raspberry Pi 3 B+ as the central processing unit for data acquisition and transmission, and a web interface developed using Flask, HTML, and CSS for secure and real-time visualization of detection data. Critical components like the MCP3208 analog-to-digital converter ensure the system's reliability and accuracy. Experimental results confirm the system's efficacy in early fire detection and real-time data visualization via the web browser. Enhanced security features, such as login authentication, protect sensitive information, while regular updates maintain data relevance. This study advances fire prevention and farm preservation efforts, offering a high-performance technological solution for proactive monitoring and quick response to fire risks, thereby supporting food security and sustainable agricultural practices.

Abstract Objective Mucinous breast cancer (MBC) is a kind of breast cancer (BC), which is rare in clinic, mainly for women, because of the low incidence rate, so there is no unified standard treatment protocol. Elderly patients have a poor prognosis due to their combined comorbidities. This study aims to investigate the effect of surgery and chemoradiotherapy on the prognosis of elderly female MBC patients and construct nomograms for predicting the OS and CSS in elderly female MBC patients. Methods Data for female MBC patients over 65 years are obtained from the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) database, patients were divided into two groups: the training set and the validation set. External validation data of the prediction model were provided by Kunming Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. We used Cox regression modeling, which was used to identify independent risk factors affecting patient prognosis. After avoiding confounding bias according to the multifactorial Cox regression model, we used these screened statistically significant results to construct column‐line plots. The performance of the model was tested using the consistency index (c‐index), the calibration curve, and the area under the operating characteristic curve of the receiver (AUC). Subsequently, we used decision curve analysis (DCA) to examine the potential clinical value of our nomograms. Results A total of 8103 elderly MBC female patients were extracted from the database SEER and were assigned to the training and validation set, randomly. A total of 83 patients from Kunming Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine were used in the external verification set. After multifactorial Cox regression analysis, we found that age, race, T‐stage, M‐stage, surgical approach, radiotherapy, and tumor size were independent risk factors for OS in elderly MBC patients. Similarly, independent risk factors of CSS included age, marital status, N stage, M stage, surgical approach, chemotherapy, and tumor size. The C‐index for the OS training, validation, and external verification set were 0.731 (95%CI 0.715–0.747), 0.738 (95%CI 0.724–0.752), and 0.809 (95%CI 0.731–0.8874). The C‐index of the training set, the validation set, and external verification set for CSS were 0.786 (95%CI 0.747–0.825), 0.776 (95%CI 0.737–0.815), and 0.84 (95%CI0.754–0.926), respectively. The AUC, calibration curves and DCA also showed good accuracy. Conclusions In this study, we construct a new nomogram to predict the prognosis of elderly patients with MBC. The nomograms have undergone internal and external validation and have been confirmed to have good clinical applicability. At the same time, we found that for elderly female MBC patients, surgery and radiotherapy significantly benefit their survival, but chemotherapy is not conducive to patient survival.

Abstract Objective Prostate cancer (PC) is a significant disease affecting men’s health worldwide. More than 60% of patients over 65 years old and more than 80% are diagnosed with localized PC. The current choice of treatment modalities for localized PC and whether overtreatment is controversial. Therefore, we wanted to construct a nomogram to predict the risk factors associated with cancer-specific survival (CSS) and overall survival (OS) in elderly patients with localized PC while assessing the survival differences in surgery and radiotherapy for elderly patients with localized PC. Methods Data of patients with localized PC over 65 years were obtained from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression models were used to determine independent risk factors for CSS and OS. Nomograms predicting CSS and OS were built using multivariate Cox regression models. The consistency index (C-index), the area under the subject operating characteristic curve (AUC), and the calibration curve were used to test the accuracy and discrimination of the prediction model. Decision curve analysis (DCA) was used to test the potential clinical value of this model. Results A total of 90,434 patients over 65 years and diagnosed with localized PC from 2010 to 2018 were included in the study. All patients were randomly assigned to the training set (n = 63,328) and the validation set (n = 27,106). Univariate and multivariate Cox regression model analysis showed that age, race, marriage, T stage, surgical, radiotherapy, prostate-specific antigen (PSA), and Gleason score (GS) were independent risk factors for predicting CSS in elderly patients with localized PC. Age, race, marriage, surgery, radiotherapy, PSA, and GS were independent risk factors for predicting OS in elderly patients with localized PC. The c-index of the training and validation sets for the predicted CSS is 0.802(95%CI:0.788–0.816) and 0.798(95%CI:0.776–0.820, respectively). The c-index of the training and validation sets for predicting OS is 0.712(95%:0.704–0.720) and 0.724(95%:0.714–0.734). It shows that the nomograms have excellent discriminatory ability. The AUC and the calibration curves also show good accuracy and discriminability. Conclusion We have developed new nomograms to predict CSS and OS in elderly patients with localized PC. After internal validation and external temporal validation with reasonable accuracy, reliability and potential clinical value, the model can be used for clinically assisted decision-making.

Coffin-Siris syndrome is an autosomal dominant disorder with neurological, cardiovascular, and gastrointestinal symptoms. Patients with Coffin-Siris syndrome typically have variable degree of developmental delay or intellectual disability, muscular hypotonia, dysmorphic facial features, sparse scalp hair, but otherwise hirsutism and fifth digit nail or distal phalanx hypoplasia or aplasia. Coffin-Siris syndrome is caused by pathogenic variants in 12 different genes including SMARCB1 and ARID1A. Pathogenic SMARCB1 gene variants cause Coffin-Siris syndrome 3 whereas pathogenic ARID1A gene variants cause Coffin-Siris syndrome 2. Here, we present two prenatal Coffin-Siris syndrome cases with autosomal dominant pathogenic variants: SMARCB1 gene c.1066_1067del, p.(Leu356AspfsTer4) variant, and a novel ARID1A gene c.1920+3_1920+6del variant. The prenatal phenotype in Coffin-Siris syndrome has been rarely described. This article widens the phenotypic spectrum of prenatal Coffin-Siris syndrome with severely hypoplastic right ventricle with VSD and truncus arteriosus type III, persisting left superior and inferior caval vein, bilateral olfactory nerve aplasia, and hypoplastic thymus. A detailed clinical description of the patients with ultrasound, MRI, and post mortem pictures of the affected fetuses showing the wide phenotypic spectrum of the disease is presented. Background: Intestinal-type gastric adenocarcinoma, representing 95 % of gastric malignancies, originates from the malignant transformation of gastric gland cells. Despite its prevalence, existing methods for prognosis evaluation of this cancer subtype are inadequate. This study aims to enhance patient-specific prognosis evaluation by analyzing the clinicopathological characteristics and prognostic risk factors of intestinal-type gastric adenocarcinoma patients using data from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Program of the National Cancer Institute (NCI). Methods: We extracted clinical data for patients diagnosed with intestinal-type gastric adenocarcinoma between 2010 and 2015 from the SEER database, selecting 257 cases based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Independent risk factors for overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) were identified using a Cox regression model. A nomogram model for predicting OS or CSS was developed from the Cox risk regression analysis and validated through the consistency index (C-index), ROC curve, and calibration curve. Abstract Objective This study aimed to evaluate the understanding and adherence to child car safety seat (CSS) guidelines among the general population in the Makkah region of Saudi Arabia following the implementation of new traffic regulations. Method A four-section questionnaire addressing knowledge and attitudes regarding CSSs was distributed among the general population of Makkah city in light of new traffic regulations. Data were collected from 487 respondents, and the chi-square test was utilized for statistical analysis. Results A total of 144 (29.6%) respondents reported using seat belts before the implementation of new regulations, while 101 (20.7%) started using them afterward. Only 31 (6.4%) stated that they would not use them. A total of 318 (65.3%) reported that their behavior towards using child car safety seats abroad will not change. Additionally, 452 (92.8%) believed that government financial support for car seat costs would increase usage and compliance. The knowledge level among those using CSSs (40.3%) was significantly higher than among those who do not (11.3%) (p = .001). Conclusions Most of the respondents believed that governmental financial support for CSS costs will lead to increased compliance. Furthermore, there is a direct correlation between knowledge levels and compliance. Therefore, further investment should be focused on raising awareness and enforcing strict regulations.

This study aimed to develop and validate nomograms for improving overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) predictions in elderly patients diagnosed with vulvar squamous cell carcinoma (VSCC). Data from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database were retrieved to gather information on VSCC patients aged 60 years and older. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses were conducted to identify independent risk factors. Based on these factors, nomograms were constructed to predict patients' OS and CSS. Model accuracy and discriminative power were assessed using the concordance index (C-index), area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), and calibration curves. Decision curve analysis (DCA) was also employed to assess the clinical significance of the proposed nomograms in comparison to the TNM (Tumor Node Metastasis) and AJCC (American Joint Committee on Cancer) staging systems. Between 2000 and 2019, a total of 2736 elderly VSCC patients met the inclusion criteria and were randomly divided into two groups: a training set (N = 1927) and a validation set (N = 809). Independent risk factors for predicting OS included age, grade, summary stage, T stage, N stage, primary site surgery, chemotherapy, regional node status and tumor size. For predicting CSS, independent risk factors were age, summary stage, AJCC stage, T stage, N stage, primary site surgery, chemotherapy, regional node status and tumor size. The C-index for OS in the training and validation sets was 0.724 (95% CI: 0.710-0.738) and 0.73 (95% CI: 0.708-0.752), respectively. In contrast, for CSS prediction, the C-index was 0.758 (95% CI: 0.740-0.776) in the training set and 0.774 (95% CI: 0.749-0.799) in the validation set. The proposed nomograms for predicting OS and CSS in VSCC patients aged 60 and older demonstrate promising potential as reliable tools that clinicians can consider to make more informed therapeutic decisions. Transitions and animations present the content on the page in more interesting, attractive ways and can attract and retain users longer, improving the measurable parameters of page visits as well as the user experience. Animations on the web can be created in many ways. And if the animations are not executed well, they can slow down the page. The goal of this article is to compare the measurable parameters of animations created with different technologies. HTML, CSS, SVG, P5js, WebGL technologies and animations created with a 3D modeling tool were used. This article deals with the potential of digitalization to improve participants' skills in the agri-food market. The topic of improving technical mechanisms and software technologies aimed at the qualitative development of e-education in Russia is being updated. The problems of providing the agri-food market with skilled personnel are analyzed. The problems of terminological uncertainty concerning the concepts of digitalization and distance education in computer sciences (informatics), information sciences, and other related scientific fields that have a negative impact on the overall wide turnover of scientific research, are touched upon. The authors propose a single generalized nonhierarchical technological model of the organization of e-education, schematically describing a set of software technologies in the form of a cloud telecommunications system. Particularly, it is recommended to use multicasting technologies and adaptive network means of signal delivery to promote educational content in the form of internet television. The basic integrative network tools and protocols for the specific organization of electronic educational activities via internet television are technically annotated. The conclusions briefly and conceptually reflect the course of the research, as well as the logic of the material analyzed by the authors, summarizing the research work done and to provide some recommendations for the operation of multicasting technology in the form of internet television in Russia. This study uses a flow visualization method to analyze the flow field of a shed-type coal storage shed, comparing and verifying the findings through numerical calculation. Initially, a coal warehouse-scale model is created for flow visualization. Laser-based cross-sectional analysis yields essential flow data, from which red–green–blue values are extracted, and the flow object with the highest G value is selected. Subsequently, as the video frame changes, the moving object is tracked, and the direction is derived. The velocity vector of the moving object within the designated area is derived. Finally, we compare the results of the flow visualization experiment with the simulation outcome. Notably, the error rate in regions characterized by high flow velocity is found to be low, and a high implementation rate is observed in areas with many floating objects to track. Conversely, implementation accuracy is lower in low-velocity fields. Both methods result in a recirculation zone at the top of the inlet, and a flow stagnation region occurs on the upper part of the central wall. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background and purpose: Sporadic cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) is a small vessel disease, resulting from progressive amyloid-β deposition in the media/adventitia of cortical and leptomeningeal arterioles. We sought to assess the prevalence of baseline characteristics, clinical and radiological findings, as well as outcomes among patients with CAA, in the largest study to date conducted in Greece. Methods: Sixty-eight patients fulfilling the Boston Criteria v1.5 for probable/possible CAA were enrolled and followed for at least twelve months. Magnetic Resonance Imaging was used to assess specific neuroimaging markers. Data regarding cerebrospinal fluid biomarker profile and Apolipoprotein-E genotype were collected. Multiple logistic regression analyses were performed to identify predictors of clinical phenotypes. Cox-proportional hazard regression models were used to calculate associations with the risk of recurrent intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). Results: Focal neurological deficits (75%), cognitive decline (57%), and transient focal neurological episodes (TFNEs; 21%) were the most common clinical manifestations. Hemorrhagic lesions, including lobar cerebral microbleeds (CMBs; 93%), cortical superficial siderosis (cSS; 48%), and lobar ICH (43%) were the most prevalent neuroimaging findings. cSS was independently associated with the likelihood of TFNEs at presentation (OR: 4.504, 95%CI:1.258–19.088), while multiple (>10) lobar CMBs were independently associated with cognitive decline at presentation (OR:5.418, 95%CI:1.316–28.497). cSS emerged as the only risk factor of recurrent ICH (HR:4.238, 95%CI:1.509–11.900) during a median follow-up of 20 months. Conclusions: cSS was independently associated with TFNEs at presentation and ICH recurrence at follow-up, while a higher burden of lobar CMBs with cognitive decline at baseline. The local treatment may not effectively improve the prognosis of mPCa patients. Patients with low level PSA underwent local treatment had better OS. Compared with RT, RP could effectively improve the prognosis of mPCa patients. To evaluate local therapy impact on OS and CSS in relation to baseline character istics, univar iate and multivar iable Cox regression analysis was used to predict the prognostic value of local therapy in OS and CSS. Results: A total of 902 (25.8%) patients received local treatment and 2598 (74.2%) patients did not receive local treatment in this study. The Kaplan-Meier curves showed that there was significant difference in OS between patients underwent local treatment and patients without local treatment (P = .013) but not in CSS (P = .068). While multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that local treatment may not significantly improve OS(P = .724). In subgroup analysis, Among patients with prostate-specific antigent (PSA) < 10ng/ml, local treatment could significantly improve OS and CSS (all P < .05). Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that local treatment could be used as an independent prognostic factor to improve OS in mPCa patients with PSA < 10ng/ml (P = .031). Another multivariate Cox regression analysis demonstrated that patients with mPCa undergoing RP had better OS and CSS (all P < .05). Conclusions: Our results showed that local salvage therapy did not seem to be an independent prognostic factor in all mPCa patients, but we found that local therapy can show a better prognosis in patients with lower PSA levels. Compared with RT, patients who had experienced RP may have better prognosis. We still need prospective research to further study the application value of local treatment in mPCa patients. Background: Previous studies have shown that cortical superficial siderosis (cSS) can increase hematoma volume and predict poor outcomes following primary intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). Objective: We aimed to determine whether a large hematoma volume was the essential factor contributing to worse outcomes of cSS. Methods: Patients with spontaneous ICH underwent a CT scan within 48 h after ictus. Evaluation of cSS was performed using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) within 7 days. The 90-day outcome was assessed using the modified Rankin Scale (mRS). In addition, we investigated the correlation between cSS, hematoma volume, and 90-day outcomes using multivariate regression and mediation analyses. Results: Among the 673 patients with ICH [mean (SD) age, 61 (13) years; 237 female subjects (35.2%); median (IQR) hematoma volume, 9.0 (3.0-17.6) ml], 131 (19.5%) had cSS. There was an association between cSS and larger hematoma volume (β = 4.449, 95% CI 1.890-7.009, p < 0.001) independent of hematoma location and was also related to worse 90-day mRS (β = 0.333, 95% CI 0.008-0.659, p = 0.045) in multivariable regression. In addition, mediation analyses revealed that hematoma volume was an essential factor mediating the effect of cSS on unfavorable 90-day outcomes (proportion mediated:66.04%, p = 0.01). Conclusion: Large hematoma volume was the major charge of directing cSS to worse outcomes in patients with mild to moderate ICH, and cSS was related to a larger hematoma in both lobar and non-lobar areas. Background: Biliary system cancers are most commonly gallbladder cancers (GBC). Elderly patients (≥ 65) were reported to suffer from an unfavorable prognosis. In this study, we analyzed the RNA-seq and clinical data of elderly GBC patients to derive the genetic characteristics and the survival-related nomograms. Methods: RNA-seq data from 14 GBC cases were collected from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database, grouped by age, and subjected to gene differential and enrichment analysis. In addition, a Weighted Gene Co-expression Network Analysis (WGCNA) was performed to determine the gene sets associated with age grouping further to characterize the gene profile of elderly GBC patients. The database of Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) was searched for clinicopathological information regarding elderly GBC patients. Nomograms were constructed to predict the overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) of elderly GBC patients. The predictive accuracy and capability of nomograms were evaluated through the concordance index (C-index), calibration curves, time-dependent operating characteristic curves (ROC), as well as area under the curve (AUC). Decision curve analysis (DCA) was performed to check out the clinical application value of nomograms. Results: Among the 14 patients with GBC, four were elderly, while the remaining ten were young. Analysis of gene differential and enrichment indicated that elderly GBC patients exhibited higher expression levels of cell cycle-related genes and lower expression levels of energy metabolism-related genes. Furthermore, the WGCNA analysis indicated that elderly GBC patients demonstrated a decrease in the expression of genes related to mitochondrial respiratory enzymes and an increase in the expression of cell cycle-related genes. 2131 elderly GBC patients were randomly allocated into the training cohort (70%) and validation cohort (30%). Our nomograms showed robust discriminative ability with a C-index of 0.717/0.747 for OS/CSS in the training cohort and 0.708/0.740 in the validation cohort. Additionally, calibration curves, AUCs, and DCA results suggested moderate predictive accuracy and superior clinical application value of our nomograms. Conclusion: Discrepancies in cell cycle signaling and metabolic disorders, especially energy metabolism, were obviously observed between elderly and young GBC patients. Purpose: Metastatic early-onset colorectal cancer (EO-CRC) is on the rise, yet there is a dearth of predictive models for this disease. Therefore, it is crucial to develop a nomogram to aid in the early detection and management of metastatic colorectal cancer in young patients. Methods: We retrieved data from the SEER database on patients with metastatic colorectal cancer aged 50 or younger between 2010 and 2017. The data were randomly allocated in a 7:3 ratio to training and validation cohorts, and univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses were used to identify independent prognostic factors for overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) at 1, 3, and 5 years. The nomograms were developed based on these factors, and their discriminatory and calibration capabilities were validated. Using the nomogram risk scores, patients were stratified into low-risk and high-risk groups. Results: The study included 2470 patients with metastatic EO-CRC. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analysis identified 12 independent risk factors that were included in the nomogram. The training cohort had a consistency index (C-index) of 0.71, while the validation cohort had a C-index of 0.70, demonstrating good predictive accuracy. Calibration plots showed a high level of consistency between the observed and predicted values, with overlapping plots along the diagonal. The decision curve analysis (DCA) revealed that the nomogram had a high clinical application value. Conclusions: The novel nomograms were created to predict the prognosis of patients with metastatic EO-CRC, which can aid clinicians in developing more effective treatment strategies and contribute to more accurate prognostic assessments. Progress in schooling using competence-based teaching for students is a priority in setting up a quality-centered educational process. Thus, using ICT tools as teaching–learning techniques represents an important objective in reaching scholastic performance and the capacity to offer students various experiences in teaching. Starting with an analysis of research on integrating ICT tools in the educational environment, this study is aimed at presenting teaching opportunities for all students, seeing education through the lens of those instruments specific to a secondary school level, referencing the subject of geography. The applied research design includes mixed methods applied to a total of 674 students, based on results received before and after a written evaluation, to determine the level of knowledge of the students. The present study evaluates the learning environment in which a successful and practical integration of ICT tools is anticipated in the teaching and learning process, from the perspective of the comparative measurement of the impact on the tests, resulting from the formative assessment. The conducted experiment and the Google Forms questionnaires suggest, through the degree of involvement of all students, how technology can facilitate the teaching–learning process. The results showed that there are statistically significant differences between the experimental and the control group, and that information and communication technologies (ICT) represent an important tool for improving performance and developing participatory skills, having the ability to provide students with positive results. Background: Ovarian clear cell carcinoma (OCCC) is a special pathological type of epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). Due to its low incidence rate, there is a lack of real-world studies at present. The purpose of the study is to construct a nomogram model for predicting postoperative cancer-specific survival (CSS) of patients with OCCC and analyze in detail the risk factors associated with OCCC. To construct a nomogram model for predicting postoperative CSS of patients with OCCC and analyze in detail the risk factors associated with OCCC. Methods: The clinical pathological data of 596 OCCC patients were collected from the surveillance, epidemiology, and end results (SEER) database from 2010 to 2015. Of these patients, 420 were allocated to the training group and 176 patients to the validation group using bootstrap resampling. The nomogram was developed based on the Cox regression model for predicting the cancer-specific survival probability of patients at 3 and 5 years after the operation. The model was evaluated in both the training and validation groups using consistency index, receiver operating characteristic (ROC), and calibration plots. Results: The independent risk factors for CSS in OCCC patients included International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) stage, race, age, tumor laterality, and the log odds of positive lymph nodes (LODDS). The nomograms were established for predicting the 3-year and 5-year CSS of patients after operation. The c-index of the nomogram for CSS was 0.786 in the training group and 0.742 in the verification group. Area under the curve (AUCs) of the 3-year and 5-year ROC curves were 0.818, 0.824 in the training group; and 0.816, 0.808 in the verification group, respectively. Conclusions: Based on the real population data, the construction of the CSS prediction model after OCCC surgery has high prediction efficiency, can identify postoperative high-risk OCCC patients, and can be a valuable aid for the tumor staging system.

Background: Surgery is the sole curative therapy for gallbladder cancer (GBC) patients. Confronting an aging society, the demand to treat elderly patients with GBC is increasing. But there are few reports on survival benefit in elderly GBC patients treated with surgery. Therefore, we designed this population-based study to assess the survival benefit of surgery in GBC patients aged 70 years or older. Methods: GBC patients aged 70 years or older were identified in the surveillance, epidemiology, and end results cancer (SEER) database from 2010 to 2017. A 1:1 propensity score matching (PSM) analysis was conducted to balance the baseline data of patients. Overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) of patients were evaluated by Kaplan-Meier analysis and compared with log-rank test. Independent risk factors associated with OS and CSS were determined by univariate and multivariate Cox proportional hazard regression analyses and subgroup analysis were performed. Results: A total of 2055 GBC patients aged 70 years or older were included in our study, with 1734 patients underwent surgery. Before PSM, the age, AJCC stage, TNM stage, and chemotherapy were significantly different between the surgery and no-surgery group (all P<0.05). Patients with surgery had significantly longer OS and CSS than those without surgery (P<0.0001). After 1:1 PSM, the differences in clinicopathological characteristics were reduced (all P>0.05). Kaplan-Meier analysis also showed patients received surgery had significantly better OS and CSS (P<0.0001). Subgroup analysis further indicated that almost all subgroups received surgery had OS and CSS advantage, especially patients aged 70-84 years old. Finally, univariate and multivariate COX regression analyses showed that age, AJCC stage and T stage were independent prognostic factors for OS and CSS in patients undergoing surgery. In order to high-value utilize the secondary solid waste calcium silicate slag (CSS) generated in the process of the extraction of alumina from fly ash, in this paper, tobermorite was synthesized using CSS and silica fume (SF) at different hydrothermal synthesis times. The hydrothermal synthesis was evaluated by means of XRD, SEM, EDS, and micropore analysis, and the results discussed. The results indicate that β-dicalcium silicate, the primary phase in the CSS, partially hydrates at the beginning of hydrothermal synthesis conditions to form mesh-like crystal C-S-H (calcium-rich) and calcium hydroxide. It then reacts with SF to form yarn-like crystal C-S-H (silicon-rich) and then furtherly grows into large flake-like crystal C-S-H (silicon-rich) at 3 h. When the synthesis time is 4 h, β-dicalcium silicate completely hydrates, and crystal C-S-H (calcium-rich) and calcium hydroxide further reacts with large flake-like crystal C-S-H (silicon-rich) to generate medium flake-like tobermorite. With the increase in time, the crystal of hydrothermal synthesis grows in the order of medium flake-like tobermorite, small flake-like tobermorite, strip flake-like tobermorite, fibrous-like tobermorite, and spindle-like tobermorite, and the APV, APD, and SSA show a trend of decreasing first, then increasing, and then decreasing. The key highlights include implementing "Koha New Arrivals 3D Cover flow Display on OPAC without Carousel Plug-in (without a server using)" and integrating Library Statistics within the OPAC. Methodology: An experimental research approach was adopted to personalize the OPAC. The customization involved the utilization of HTML, CSS, and Java code to modify OPAC's front end, ensuring a tailored experience for users. Findings: The Koha OPAC comprises six distinct sections: Header, Left (Upper & Bottom) Navigation, Main User Block (located at the centre of the OPAC for displaying content), Right Navigation, and Footer. Evaluation of chronic constipation is important, although it is often difficult to satisfactorily treat due to the complex interplay of factors. This study aimed to determine whether the volume of intraluminal contents and lateral diameter of the colon measured from computed tomography (CT) images were correlated with the symptoms of chronic constipation and stool consistency. Consecutive patients who underwent the Constipation Scoring System (CSS), Bristol Stool Form Scale (BSFS) questionnaires and simple abdominal CT were selected retrospectively. The intestinal tract diameter at each site was measured, and the amounts of stool and gas in the intestinal tract were evaluated at five levels. Of the 149 study participants, 54 were males and 95 were females and their mean age was 72.1 years. In the right hemi-colon, CSS5 (Time) correlated significantly with gas volume (p < 0.01). In the left hemi-colon, stool volume correlated significantly with CSS2 (Difficulty), CSS3 (Completeness), CSS5 (Time) and CSS total (p < 0.05). The BSFS negatively correlated with gas volume and diameter in the right hemi-colon and with gas volume in the rectum (p < 0.05). CT findings including stool volume, gas volume and diameter correlated with some constipation symptoms and stool consistency. These findings may be useful in evaluating and treating constipation. To reduce recurrence or progression of tumor, NCCN guidelines recommend repeat transurethral resection of bladder tumors (reTURB) for non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). The study aims to compare the impact of initial TURB and reTURB on the rate of residual or upstaging tumors and short-term and long-term survival outcomes of T1 bladder cancer (BC). We searched through several public database, including PubMed, Embase, Ovid Medline and Ovid EBM Reviews - Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials. The latest search time was October 2021. In general, 68 articles were involved. Short-term RFS (1-year and 3-year) of reTURB group was better compared with TURB group in T1 patients. The pooled RR were 1.10 (95%CI: 1.01–1.19) and 1.15 (95%CI: 1.03–1.28), respectively. While reTURB did not improve long-term RFS (5-year, 10-year, 15-year) in T1 patients. The pooled RR were 1.12 (95%CI: 0.97–1.30), 1.11 (95%CI: 0.82–1.50) and 1.37 (95%CI: 0.50–3.74), respectively. Analysis of PFS, OS and CSS demonstrated similar outcomes with RFS. We found that about two-thirds of samples contained detrusor. The residual tumor rate in stage T1 was 0.48 (95%CI: 0.42–0.53). While the rate of upstaging in stage T1 was 0.10 (95%CI: 0.07–0.13). In conclusion, reTURB might provide short-term survival benefits for T1 BC, but it was not the same for long-term outcomes. The residual and upstaging rates of T1 BC in reTURB were around 50% and 10%, respectively. Our study might be conducive to clinically informed consents when patients expressed their concerns about the necessity of reTURB and its impact on diagnosis, treatment and prognosis. Background: As of mid-2022, more than 650 million people have been infected with COVID-19 worldwide. With ongoing outbreaks and varying degrees of severity in different regions of the globe, we continue to battle against this global health crisis after 3 years of discovery of Sars-CoV-2. It is crucial for clinicians to utilize the information collected over this time period to combat any upcoming wave in the future. One approach to this is the development of a scoring system that can assess the severity of COVID-19 patients at the time of admission. Although much is known about the course of its clinical disease, much more is yet to be discovered in terms of its optimal management to yield favorable outcomes. Recognizing key risk factors and biochemical parameters can assist in an early assessment of the severity of COVID-19, thus leading to a timely management reducing morbidity and mortality. Objective: To predict the extent of COVID-19 disease severity upon admission using readily available means of assessment in a city with a lower socioeconomic status. Methodology: This retrospective analysis was conducted at the Department of Pulmonology, Dr. Ziauddin University Hospital in Karachi. The study spanned from June 2021 to June 2022. A total of 102 patient records were included in this research. These patients had tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, either through a reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test or a rapid antigen detection test. Data for this study was collected from electronic medical records (EMR) and chart reviews, and the analysis was performed using SPSS version 26.0. Results: The COVID-19 Severity Score (CSS) is a cumulative score derived from nine parameters and was developed by closely observing 102 COVID-19 patients. Parameters incorporated are Age, Comorbidities, Ferritin, LDH, D-dimer, Neutrophil to Lymphocyte Ratio (NLR), Chest X-ray, Creatinine, and Platelet Count. Each parameter is assigned a score according to predefined cutoff ranges, which include a semiquantitative method for interpreting chest X-rays. A patient's total score is calculated by summing individual parameter scores, with a maximum possible score of 29. The CSS grading system categorizes patients into four "severity risk" groups. The study assessed the CSS's effectiveness in predicting the risk of severe COVID-19 by considering four key factors: hospital stay duration, need for mechanical ventilation, oxygen requirements, and mortality at discharge. Conclusion: In conclusion, this study's findings strongly advocate for the use of CSS scores as a valuable tool in risk stratification for severe COVID-19 cases. Early identification of patients with high CSS scores should prompt intensified medical care, including extended hospital stays, mechanical ventilation, and oxygen support, to improve patient outcomes and reduce mortality in this vulnerable population. This study uses a flow visualization method to analyze the flow field of a shed-type coal storage shed, comparing and verifying the findings through numerical calculation. Initially, a coal warehouse-scale model is created for flow visualization. Laser-based cross-sectional analysis yields essential flow data, from which red–green–blue values are extracted, and the flow object with the highest G value is selected. Subsequently, as the video frame changes, the moving object is tracked, and the direction is derived. The velocity vector of the moving object within the designated area is derived. Finally, we compare the results of the flow visualization experiment with the simulation outcome. Notably, the error rate in regions characterized by high flow velocity is found to be low, and a high implementation rate is observed in areas with many floating objects to track. Conversely, implementation accuracy is lower in low-velocity fields. Both methods result in a recirculation zone at the top of the inlet, and a flow stagnation region occurs on the upper part of the central wall.

A 45-year-old man, used to work in a cement factory, presented to us with a history of adult-onset sub-optimally controlled asthma and was initially managed as a case of acute exacerbation of allergic asthma. However, his repeated evaluation revealed raised eosinophil count, raised serum total IgE and persistent chest infiltrates on imaging. He was provisionally managed empirically with a short course of oral steroids and advised follow-up on an out-patient basis to rule out the possibility of idiopathic eosinophilic pulmonary syndromes. The patient was then lost to follow-up, and after four years, he presented with a vasculitic presentation and was diagnosed with Eosinophilic Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis (EGPA). He improved with corticosteroids and cyclophosphamide pulse therapy. This case depicts the importance of evolving nature of EGPA wherein the eosinophilic phase of the disease can mimic other pulmonary eosinophilic diseases and vasculitic symptoms can be delayed as much as by four years.

We present a cloud-based microservice enabling individual users to have access to local air pressure measurements and a proof-of-concept web application providing shot-term weather forecasts based only on local crowdsensed data. Our microservice has been developed using state-of-the-art web technologies and cutting-edge technologies related to cloud computing. Apart from its individual interest and potential usefulness, our microservice and proof-of-concept web application show how modern cloud-based technologies and tools can be nicely combined to improve the community daily routine and wellbeing. In this letter, we propose a new non-binary modulation which allows both Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) synchronization and the demodulation of non-binary symbols, without the need of a pilot signal, with the aim to provide a fast first position, velocity and time fix. The waveform is constructed as the product of i) a pseudo-random noise sequence with good auto-correlation and cross-correlation properties, and ii) a chirp spread spectrum family, which allows to demodulate non-binary symbols even if the signal phase is unknown. In order to demodulate the data, a bank of non-coherent matched filters is proposed. Because of the particular modulation structure, the receiver is capable to demodulate the navigation message faster while allowing the basic GNSS signal processing functionalities. The CMP-sialic acid synthetase (CSS) activates free sialic acid (Sia) to CMP-Sia using CTP, and is prerequisite for the sialylation of cell surface glycoconjugates. The vertebrate CSS consists of two domains, a catalytic N-domain and a non-catalytic C-domain. Although the C-domain is not required for the CSS enzyme to synthesize CMP-Sia, its involvement in the catalytic activity remains unknown. First, the real-time monitoring of CSS-catalyzed reaction was performed by 31P NMR using the rainbow trout CSS (rtCSS). While a rtCSS lacking the C-domain (rtCSS-N) similarly activated both deaminoneuraminic acid (Kdn) and N -acetylneuraminic acid (Neu5Ac), the full-length rtCSS (rtCSS-FL) did not activate Kdn as efficiently as Neu5Ac. These results suggest that the C-domain of rtCSS affects the enzymatic activity, when Kdn was used as a substrate. Second, the enzymatic activity of rtCSS-FL and rtCSS-N was measured under various concentrations of CMP-Kdn. Inhibition by CMP-Kdn was observed only for rtCSS-FL, but not for rtCSS-N, suggesting that the inhibition was C-domain-dependent. Third, the inhibitory effect of CMP-Kdn was also investigated using the mouse CSS (mCSS). However, no inhibition was observed with mCSS even at high concentrations of CMP-Kdn. To determine a suitable waveform for Internet of Things (IoT) transmission over low‐Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, this paper reports the results of a performance comparison between chirp spread spectrum (CSS)‐based LoRa and direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS)‐based Ingenu. The performance of both waveforms was measured in terms of the packet error rate, throughput, and packet loss rate, considering the Doppler effect caused by the high speed of LEO satellites and the interference among multiple terminals. Simulation results indicate that the DSSS scheme is more suitable than the CSS scheme for high‐traffic IoT services because of its robustness against interference among multiple terminals. However, the CSS scheme is more suitable than the DSSS scheme for high‐mobility IoT services because of its robustness against the Doppler effect. We discuss various solutions, such as the preprocessing of Doppler effect and avoidance of packet collision, to enhance the performance of the DSSS and CSS schemes. The simulation results of the proposed solution show that the enhanced DSSS scheme can be a proper waveform in IoT transmission over LEO satellites for both the high‐traffic and high‐mobility services. Production performance of heavy oil deposits in Xinjiang oilfield developed by vertical-well cyclic steam stimulation (CSS) is increasingly challenged by reservoir heterogeneity, which is comprised of original sedimental heterogeneity and steam-induced heterogeneity. In order to understand the impacts of sedimental heterogeneity and high-speed steam injection to steam conformance, and strategies to maximize steam swept volume, a series of experiments were designed and implemented. Three-tube coreflooding experiments were performed to study the steam displacement dynamics under heterogeneous conditions, and a high-temperature plugging agent was developed. The coreflooding experiments indicate that the injection conformance deteriorates once the steam breakthrough occurs in a high-permeability tube, leaving the oil in the medium and low permeability tubes being surpassed. The optimized plugging agent could resist high temperatures over 260 °C and its compressive strength was 13.14 MPa, which is higher than maximal steam injection pressure. The plugging rate of high permeability core was greater than 99.5% at 220–280 °C with a breakthrough pressure gradient over 25 MPa/m. The field test validated its profile improvement feasibility with cyclic oil, 217.6% of the previous cycle. Important variables for constructing nomograms were screened by univariate and multivariate Cox analysis. The nomogram model was evaluated using concordance index (C-index), decision curve analysis (DCA) curves, and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves.Results: A total of 12,526 EOKC patients were included in the study. OS nomogram was constructed based on gender, age, race, grade, AJCC stage, TNM stage, histology, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. CSS nomogram was constructed based on listed above except gender. In the external validation, the C-index for the OS nomogram was 0.855 (95% CI 0.834– 0.976), and the C-index for the CSS nomogram was 0.938 (0.925– 0.951). High-quality calibration curves were noted in both OS and CSS nomogram models. ROC and DCA curves showed that nomograms had better predictive performance than TNM stage and SEER stage.Conclusion: The nomogram model provides an applicable tool for evaluating the OS and CSS prognosis of EOKC.Keywords: early-onset kidney cancer, nomogram, OS, CSS, SEER

If the digital scholarly edition (DSE) is ever to replace the print scholarly edition it must be made truly interoperable so it can be easily secured, moved, published, aggregated, distributed and sold. Current DSEs are customised for particular projects, and must be maintained by their creators. Their contents are also not easily reusable by others. However, digital editions can be made truly interoperable by writing them directly for the Web rather than first in XML, then converting them to HTML. For this to work, some changes to the organisation of the software and data of a DSE are needed. Instead of dividing the software into two parts that run on the server and the client, all software can be moved to the client. In this way, a DSE can become portable, durable and directly usable in any web-browser. Instead of XML, the textual data can use a simplified form of HTML consisting of only two elements: and , controlled and customised by a standard CSS stylesheet. The current practice of encoding alternatives such as variants can be replaced by versions and layers: versions are complete texts written by the author and layers are notional transcripts of local changes ordered chronologically. In this way textual data can express most of the information formerly specified by the complex TEI-XML Guidelines, and the rest via other technologies, and reorganise it in a form that allows easy comparison, editing, searching and textual analysis using standard software tools.

PurposeLung cancer is the leading cause of death from cancer and the number of operable elderly lung cancer patients is increasing, with advanced age being associated with a poorer prognosis. However, there is no easy and comprehensive prognostic assessment method for these patients.MethodsClinicopathological data of patients aged 65 years or older with TNM stage I-II lung cancer from 2004 to 2018 were downloaded from the SEER database. Patients from 2004 to 2015 were randomized into a training group (n = 16,457) and a validation group (n = 7,048). Data from 2016 to 2018 (n = 6,231) were used for external validation. Two nomogram prognostic models were created after independent prognostic factors connected to both overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) in the training set by using univariate and multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression analysis. In turn, overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) were predicted for patients at 1, 3, and 5 years. Based on the concordance index (C-index), calibration curves, area under the receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curve (AUC), the time-dependent area under the ROC curve, the validity, accuracy, discrimination, predictive ability, and clinical utility of the models were evaluated. Decision curve analysis (DCA) was used to assess the clinical value of the models.ResultsA total of 29,736 patients were included. Univariate and multivariate analyses suggested that age, race, gender, marriage, disease grade, AJCC stage, T-stage, surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and tumor size were independent risk factors for patient prognosis. These 11 variables were included in nomogram to predict OS and CSS of patients. C-indexes of OS for the training, validation and external validation sets were 0.730 (95% CI, 0.709–0.751), 0.734 (95% CI, 0.722–0.746), and 0.750 (95% CI, 0.734–0.766), respectively. The AUC results for the training and validation sets indicated good accuracy for this nomogram. The calibration curves demonstrated a high degree of concordance between actual and anticipated values, and the DCA demonstrated that the nomograms had better clinical application than the traditional TNM staging approach.ConclusionThis study identified risk factors for survival in operable elderly lung cancer patients and established a new column line graph for predicting OS and CSS in these patients. The model has good clinical application and can be a good clinical decision-making tool for physicians and patients.

BackgroundThe pathological T3N0M0 (pT3N0M0) rectal cancer is the earliest stage and has the best prognosis in the locally advanced rectal cancer, but the optimal treatment remains controversial. A reliable prognostic model is needed to discriminate the high-risk patients from the low-risk patients, and optimize adjuvant chemotherapy (ACT) treatment decisions by predicting the likelihood of ACT benefit for the target population.Patients and methodsWe gathered and analyzed 276 patients in Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center from March 2005 to December 2011. All patients underwent total mesorectal excision (TME), without preoperative therapy, and were pathologically proven pT3N0M0 rectal cancer with negative circumferential resection margin (CRM). LASSO regression model was used for variable selection and risk factor prediction. Multivariable cox regression was used to develop the predicting model. Optimum cut-off values were determined using X-Tile plot analysis. The 10-fold cross-validation was adopted to validate the model. The performance of the nomogram was evaluated with its calibration, discrimination and clinical usefulness.ResultsA total of 188 patients (68.1%) had ACT and no patients had adjuvant radiotherapy. Age, monocyte percentage, carbohydrate antigen 19–9, lymph node dissection numbers and perineural invasion (PNI) were identified as significantly associated variables that could be combined for an accurate prediction risk of Cancer Specific Survival (CSS) for pT3N0M0 patients. The model adjusted for CSS showed good discrimination with a C-index of 0.723 (95% CI: 0.652–0.794). The calibration curves showed that the nomogram adjusted for CSS was able to predict 3-, 5-, and 10-year CSS accurately. The corresponding predicted probability was used to stratify high and low-risk patients (10-year CSS: 69.1% vs. 90.8%, HR = 3.815, 95%CI: 2.102–6.924, P < 0.0001). ACT improved overall survival (OS) in the low-risk patients (10-year OS: 91.9% vs. 83.3%, HR = 0.338, 95% CI: 0.135–0.848, P < 0.0001), while it did not exhibit a significant benefit in the high-risk patients.ConclusionThe present study showed that age, monocyte percentage, carbohydrate antigen 19–9, lymph node dissection numbers and PNI were independent prognostic factors for pT3N0M0 rectal cancer patients. A nomogram based on these prognostic factors effectively predicts CSS in patients, which can be conveniently used in clinical practice. ACT may improve overall survival in the low-risk patients. But the benefit of ACT was not seen in the high-risk patients.

ObjectiveProstate cancer (PC) is the second leading cause of cancer death in men in the United States after lung cancer in global incidence. Elderly male patients over 65 years old account for more than 60% of PC patients, and the impact of surgical treatment on the prognosis of PC patients is controversial. Moreover, there are currently no predictive models that can predict the prognosis of elderly PC patients undergoing surgical treatment. Therefore, we aimed to construct a new nomogram to predict cancer-specific survival (CSS) in elderly PC patients undergoing surgical treatment.MethodsData for surgically treated PC patients aged 65 years and older were obtained from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression models were used to identify independent risk factors for elderly PC patients undergoing surgical treatment. A nomogram of elderly PC patients undergoing surgical treatment was developed based on the multivariate Cox regression model. The consistency index (C-index), the area under the subject operating characteristic curve (AUC), and the calibration curve were used to test the accuracy and discrimination of the predictive model. Decision curve analysis (DCA) was used to examine the potential clinical value of this model.ResultsA total of 44,975 elderly PC patients undergoing surgery in 2010–2018 were randomly assigned to the training set (N = 31705) and validation set (N = 13270). the training set was used for nomogram development and the validation set was used for internal validation. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression model analysis showed that age, marriage, TNM stage, surgical style, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, Gleason score(GS), and prostate-specific antigen(PSA) were independent risk factors for CSS in elderly PC patients undergoing surgical treatment. The C index of the training set and validation indices are 0.911(95%CI: 0.899–0.923) and 0.913(95%CI: 0.893–0.933), respectively, indicating that the nomogram has a good discrimination ability. The AUC and the calibration curves also show good accuracy and discriminability.ConclusionsTo our knowledge, our nomogram is the first predictive model for elderly PC patients undergoing surgical treatment, filling the gap in current predictive models for this PC patient population. Our data comes from the SEER database, which is trustworthy and reliable. Moreover, our model has been internally validated in the validation set using the C-index,AUC and the and the calibration curve, showed that the model have good accuracy and reliability, which can help clinicians and patients make better clinical decision-making. Moreover, the DCA results show that our nomogram has a better potential clinical application value than the TNM staging system.
