Let X be a complete, simply connected harmonic manifold of purely exponential volume growth. This class contains all non-flat harmonic manifolds of nonpositive curvature, and in particular all known examples of non-compact harmonic manifolds except for the flat spaces. We use the Fourier transform from [1] to investigate the dynamics on L p (X) for p > 2 of certain bounded linear operators T : L p (X) → L p (X) which we call " L p -multipliers" in accordance with standard terminology. Examples of L p -multipliers are given by the operator of convolution with an L 1 radial function, or more generally convolution with a finite radial measure. In particular elements of the heat semigroup e t Δ act as multipliers. Given 2 < p < ∞ , we show that for any L p -multiplier T which is not a scalar multiple of the identity, there is an open set of values of ν ∈ C for which the operator 1 ν T is chaotic on L p (X) in the sense of Devaney, i.e., topologically transitive and with periodic points dense. Moreover such operators are topologically mixing. We also show that there is a constant c p > 0 such that for any c ∈ C with Re ⁡ c > c p , the action of the shifted heat semigroup e c t e t Δ on L p (X) is chaotic. Let f be a germ of a holomorphic diffeomorphism with an irrationally indifferent fixed point at the origin in ${\mathbb C}$ (i.e. $f(0) = 0, f'(0) = e^{2\pi i \alpha }, \alpha \in {\mathbb R} - {\mathbb Q}$). Pérez-Marco [Fixed points and circle maps. Acta Math.179(2) (1997), 243–294] showed the existence of a unique continuous monotone one-parameter family of non-trivial invariant full continua containing the fixed point called Siegel compacta, and gave a correspondence between germs and families $(g_t)$ of circle maps obtained by conformally mapping the complement of these compacts to the complement of the unit disk. The family of circle maps $(g_t)$ is the orbit of a locally defined semigroup $(\Phi _t)$ on the space of analytic circle maps, which we show has a well-defined infinitesimal generator X. The explicit form of X is obtained by using the Loewner equation associated to the family of hulls $(K_t)$. We show that the Loewner measures $(\mu _t)$ driving the equation are 2-conformal measures on the circle for the circle maps $(g_t)$. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Perez-Marco showed the existence of a unique family of non-trivial invariant full continua containing the fixed point called Siegel compacta. When $f$ is non-linearizable (i.e. not holomorphically conjugate to the rigid rotation $R_{{\it\alpha}}(z)=e^{2{\it\pi}i{\it\alpha}}z$) the invariant compacts obtained are called hedgehogs. Perez-Marco developed techniques for the construction of examples of non-linearizable germs [Fixed points and circle maps. Acta Math. 179(2) (1997), 243–294]; these were used by the author to construct hedgehogs of Hausdorff dimension one, and adapted by Cheritat [Relatively compact Siegel disks with non-locally connected boundaries, Preprint, 2009] to construct Siegel disks with pseudo-circle boundaries. Let α1,…,αn be irrational numbers which are linearly independent over the rationals, and f1,…,fn commuting germs of holomorphic diffeomorphisms in ℂ such that fk(0)=0,f′k(0)=e2πiαk,k=1,…,n. Moser showed that f 1,…,fn are simultaneously linearizable (i.e. conjugate by a germ of holomorphic diffeomorphism h to the rigid rotations Rαk(z)=e2πiαkz) if the vector of rotation numbers (α 1,…,αn) satisfies a Diophantine condition. Adapting Yoccoz’s renormalization to the setting of commuting germs, we show that simultaneous linearization holds in the presence of a weaker Brjuno-type condition ℬ(α1,…,αn)<+∞, where ℬ(α1,…,αn) is a multivariable analogue of the Brjuno function. If there are no periodic orbits for the action of the germs f1,…,fn in a neighbourhood of the origin, then a weaker arithmetic condition ℬ′ (α 1,…,αn)<+∞ analogous to Perez-Marco’s condition for linearization in the absence of periodic orbits is shown to suffice for linearizability. Normalizing the germs to be univalent on the unit disc, in both cases the Siegel discs are shown to contain discs of radii $C e^{-2\pi \mathcal {B}}, C e^{-2\pi \mathcal {B'}}$ for some universal constant C.
